  • Web Application Loading Screen

    - by Matt Charlton
I have a web app that has several tree views. When the page loads i see the unordered lists and after a small latency the styling of the tree is rendered into the DOM. Is there a way to mask the webapp, and have a spinner in the middle of the screen, and when everything on the page is fully rendered the spinner goes away and the mask fades out? Kind of like a semi transparent mask that you would see on a lightbox pop-up dialog.

  • Android - how update widget often but only when it is visible?

    - by tomash
I'm going to create widget which needs to update its content every minute (it shows time-related data). However, there is no need to update widget if it is currently invisible, which means: screen is turned off another app is running widget is placed on another (invisible) home screen tab What is the best way to update only visible widget every minute - without waking up device nor doing unnecessary computations? After widget becomes visible, small lag before update is acceptable.

I developed small CakePHP application, and now I want to add one more table (in fact, model/controller/view) into system, named notes. I had already created a table of course. But when I run command cake bake model, I do not get table Notes on the list. I can add it manually, but after that I get some errors when running cake bake controller and cake bake view. Can you give me some clue why I have those problems, and how to add that new model?

  • Show/Hide button (text) for Accordion

    - by Kevin
    Have an accordion with a "view" button to open close the accordion panel (using jQuery Tools), but I would like to have dynamic text that says "show/hide" depending on the state... Here is the code for the accordion in asp.NET <div id="accordion"> <% foreach (var eventModel in ViewModel) { %> <% var isNewMonth = eventModel.Date.Month != previousMonth; %> <% if (isNewMonth && previousMonth > 0) { %></table></div><% } %> <% previousMonth = eventModel.Date.Month; %> <% if (isNewMonth) { %> <h2><%= string.Concat(eventModel.Date.ToString("MMMM"), " ", eventModel.Date.Year) %> <span style="float:right;"><a href="#" class="button blue small">View</a></span></h2> <div class="pane" style="display:block"> <table id="listTable" width="100%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0" border="0"> <tr align="left" valign="top"><th align="left" valign="top">Date</th><th align="left" valign="top">Event</th><th align="left" valign="top">Event Type</th></tr> <% } %> <tr align="left" valign="top"><td align="left" valign="top"><b><span id="date" style="float:left;"> <%= string.Concat(eventModel.Date.ToString("MMMM"), " ", eventModel.Date.Day, " </span><span id='day' style='float:left'>" + eventModel.Date.DayOfWeek + "</span> ")%></b></td><td align="left" valign="top" ><%= Html.ActionLink(eventModel.Name.Truncate(40), "event", "register", new { id = eventModel.Id }, null)%></td><td align="left" valign="top"><%= string.Concat(" ", eventModel.Sport)%></td></tr> <% } %> <% if (ViewModel.Count > 0) { %></table></div><% } %> </div> Here is the initialization script using jQuery: $(function() { $("#accordion").tabs("#accordion div.pane", {tabs: 'h2', effect: 'slide', initialIndex: 0}); $(".small").click(function() { moveToTop(); }); });

  • Under what circumstances would a LINQ-to-SQL Entity "lose" a changed field?

    - by John Rudy
I'm going nuts over what should be a very simple situation. In an ASP.NET MVC 2 app (not that I think this matters), I have an edit action which takes a very small entity and makes a few changes. The key portion (outside of error handling/security) looks like this: Todo t = Repository.GetTodoByID(todoID); UpdateModel(t); Repository.Save(); Todo is the very simple, small entity with the following fields: ID (primary key), FolderID (foreign key), PercentComplete, TodoText, IsDeleted and SaleEffortID (foreign key). Each of these obviously corresponds to a field in the database. When UpdateModel(t) is called, t does get correctly updated for all fields which have changed. When Repository.Save() is called, by the time the SQL is written out, FolderID reverts back to its original value. The complete code to Repository.Save(): public void Save() { myDataContext.SubmitChanges(); } myDataContext is an instance of the DataContext class created by the LINQ-to-SQL designer. Nothing custom has been done to this aside from adding some common interfaces to some of the entities. I've validated that the FolderID is getting lost before the call to Repository.Save() by logging out the generated SQL: UPDATE [Todo].[TD_TODO] SET [TD_PercentComplete] = @p4, [TD_TodoText] = @p5, [TD_IsDeleted] = @p6 WHERE ([TD_ID] = @p0) AND ([TD_TDF_ID] = @p1) AND /* Folder ID */ ([TD_PercentComplete] = @p2) AND ([TD_TodoText] = @p3) AND (NOT ([TD_IsDeleted] = 1)) AND ([TD_SE_ID] IS NULL) /* SaleEffort ID */ -- @p0: Input BigInt (Size = -1; Prec = 0; Scale = 0) [5] -- @p1: Input BigInt (Size = -1; Prec = 0; Scale = 0) [1] /* this SHOULD be 4 and in the update list */ -- @p2: Input TinyInt (Size = -1; Prec = 0; Scale = 0) [90] -- @p3: Input NVarChar (Size = 4000; Prec = 0; Scale = 0) [changing text] -- @p4: Input TinyInt (Size = -1; Prec = 0; Scale = 0) [0] -- @p5: Input NVarChar (Size = 4000; Prec = 0; Scale = 0) [changing text foo] -- @p6: Input Bit (Size = -1; Prec = 0; Scale = 0) [True] -- Context: SqlProvider(Sql2005) Model: AttributedMetaModel Build: 4.0.30319.1 So somewhere between UpdateModel(t) (where I've validated in the debugger that FolderID updated) and the output of this SQL, the FolderID reverts. The other fields all save. (Well, OK, I haven't validated SaleEffortID yet, because that subsystem isn't really ready yet, but everything else saves.) I've exhausted my own means of research on this: Does anyone know of conditions which would cause a partial entity reset (EG, something to do with long foreign keys?), and/or how to work around this?

  • Remove the complete stying of a html button/submit

    - by Saif Bechan
Is there a way of completely removing the styling of a button in Internet Explorer. I use a css sprite for my button, and everything looks ok. But when i click the button, it moves to the top a little, it makes it look out of shape. Is there a css click state, or mousedown? I don't know what triggers that state. I know it't not a really big deal, but sometimes it's the small things that matter.

  • Using GData and the Google Analytics on Android

    - by Luke Lowrey
I am wondering what my options are for using GData and specifically the analytics api on android to build a small widget. After searching around for a while I couldnt come up with any libraries with decent examples. Are there any dedicated libraries with some decent examples / doco to do this sort of thing? I would like to target 1.6 but if the are 2.0 only I guess that is fine too.

  • No IntelliSense for c++/cli in visual studio 2010?

    - by Sam
I just moved from Visual Studio 2008 to 2010, and noticed one major flaw: When I try to use AutoComplete in a C++ Source file for managed c++, a small note in the footer appers: intellisense for c++/cli not available Uh, has IntelliSense for c++/cli been dropped from Visual Studio 2010? Is there any way to get this back? It is rather useful...
