• Firefox trying to download local .swf files

  I'm quite annoyed with my firefox and Flash files : When I try opening a .swf file with it: If the file is on the web (via http://...), it plays normally in browser If the file is local (via file:///...), firefox only show me a dialog to download it It tried opening a web swf file, downloading it then opening it locally, it's the same. So I guess it's a firefox problem. I'm on Gentoo Linux, and it started today, without any apparent reason.

• Help needed: all Desktop Icons have disappeared!

  My Windows7-german-64bit installation worked fine until today. But this morning I have suddenly lost all my desktop icons. I can re-enable the icons via right-click on desktop > Ansicht > Desktop Symbole anzeigen) (translation: right-click on desktop > View > Show Desktop Icons) But on logoff/logon the icons are lost again! Any help is very appreciated!

• HDMI Disconnects after TV has been off for a while

  I have an EVGA NVidia GT 610 card in a media center PC running Windows 8 x64 When the TV has been turned off for a while and then turned back on, there will usually be no HDMI signal until I unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in. Any ideas how what might be causing this or what I should check? I have the latest drivers from NVidia and the card recognizes the TV just fine. Also, my XBox 360 and PS3 work just fine and always show up.

I need to show more than 3 histograms and want to have different patterns on them like hash, dotted, double hashed etc instead of different colors in the legend. I am using MS Excel 2007.   I'm trying to execute double search within files and return file names. I'm using find ./ -iname '*txt' | xargs grep "searchtext" -sl to find file names with 'searchtext' in them. Command is returning a list of files. • "When firefox starts" setting does not last after a reboot

  I have set the "when firefox starts" and "home page" values, but when I reboot the computer (or more accurately, when I restart the computer as it has been crashing frequently of late), those values get reset to some default value which I don't want. If I close Firefox then reopen, the correct values appear. How I do store the values over reboots? The values are when firefox starts: show a blank page home page: about:blank I'm still using Windows XP so there's no problem about directory permissions.

  VLC can download MMS streaming video using the following command...   When I'm editing some files ( html, css, js ) on UESTUDIO by FTP I'm able to browser folders, create new files on existing folders, but when I create a new folder and try to create a new file it won't allow me to select the "create new file" choice on the menu. Also, if I uncheck the "Show current directory only" option, then the menu to create folders and files on the current one ( that worked before ) disapears and I'm unable to use it. Now when I am trying to reach my "share" that i created in the Win2008 server, it does not show up at the Network tab in Windows 7. Instead, the only way I found it was to manually type in \\myserverlocation in the run prompt. Is there any way to find my share right way without doing this?
