  • Saving animated GIFs using urllib.urlopen (image saved does not animate)

    - by wenbert
    I have Apache2 + Django + X-sendfile. My problem is that when I upload an animated GIF, it won't "animate" when I output through the browser. Here is my code to display the image located outside the public accessible directory. def raw(request,uuid): target = str(uuid).split('.')[:-1][0] image = Uploads.objects.get(uuid=target) path = image.path filepath = os.path.join(path,"%s.%s" % (image.uuid,image.ext)) response = HttpResponse(mimetype=mimetypes.guess_type(filepath)) response['Content-Disposition']='filename="%s"'\ %smart_str(image.filename) response["X-Sendfile"] = filepath response['Content-length'] = os.stat(filepath).st_size return response UPDATE It turns out that it works. My problem is when I try to upload an image via URL. It probably doesn't save the entire GIF? def handle_url_file(request): """ Open a file from a URL. Split the file to get the filename and extension. Generate a random uuid using rand1() Then save the file. Return the UUID when successful. """ try: file = urllib.urlopen(request.POST['url']) randname = rand1(settings.RANDOM_ID_LENGTH) newfilename = request.POST['url'].split('/')[-1] ext = str(newfilename.split('.')[-1]).lower() im = cStringIO.StringIO(file.read()) # constructs a StringIO holding the image img = Image.open(im) filehash = checkhash(im) image = Uploads.objects.get(filehash=filehash) uuid = image.uuid return "%s" % (uuid) except Uploads.DoesNotExist: img.save(os.path.join(settings.UPLOAD_DIRECTORY,(("%s.%s")%(randname,ext)))) del img filesize = os.stat(os.path.join(settings.UPLOAD_DIRECTORY,(("%s.%s")%(randname,ext)))).st_size upload = Uploads( ip = request.META['REMOTE_ADDR'], filename = newfilename, uuid = randname, ext = ext, path = settings.UPLOAD_DIRECTORY, views = 1, bandwidth = filesize, source = request.POST['url'], size = filesize, filehash = filehash, ) upload.save() #return uuid return "%s" % (upload.uuid) except IOError, e: raise e Any ideas? • SQLDeveloper using over 100MB of PGA+UGA

    - by Leigh Riffel
    Perhaps this is normal, but in my Oracle 11g database I am seeing programmers using Oracle's SQL Developer regularly consume more than 100MB of combined UGA and PGA memory. I'd like to know if this is normal and what can be done about it. Our database is on the 32 bit version of Windows 2008, so memory limitations are becoming an increasing concern. I am using the following query to show the memory usage: SELECT e.SID, e.username, e.status, b.PGA_MEMORY FROM v$session e LEFT JOIN (select y.SID, y.value pga, TO_CHAR(ROUND(y.value/1024/1024),99999999) || ' MB' PGA_MEMORY from v$sesstat y, v$statname z where y.STATISTIC# = z.STATISTIC# and NAME = 'session pga memory') b ON e.sid=b.sid WHERE (PGA)/1024/1024 > 20 ORDER BY 4 DESC; It seems that the resource usage goes up any time a table is opened in SQLDeveloper, but even when it is closed the memory does not go away. The problem is worse if the table is sorted while it was open as that seems to use even more memory. I understand how this would use memory while it is sorting, and perhaps even while it is still open, but to use memory after it is closed seems wrong to me. Can anyone confirm this? Update: I discovered that my numbers were off due to not understanding that the UGA is stored in the PGA under dedicated server mode. This makes the numbers lower than they were, but the problem still remains that SQL Developer seems to use excessive PGA.

  • urllib2.Request() with data returns empty url

    - by Mr. Polywhirl
    My main concern is the function: getUrlAndHtml() If I manually build and append the query to the end of the uri, I can get the response.url(), but if I pass a dictionary as the request data, the url does not come back. Is there anyway to guarantee the redirected url? In my example below, if thisWorks = True I get back a url, but the returned url is the request url as opposed to a redirect link. On a sidenote, the encoding for .E2.80.93 does not translate to - for some reason? #!/usr/bin/python import pprint import urllib import urllib2 from bs4 import BeautifulSoup from sys import argv URL = 'http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?' def yesOrNo(boolVal): return 'yes' if boolVal else 'no' def getTitleFromRaw(page): return page.strip().replace(' ', '_') def getUrlAndHtml(title, printable=False): thisWorks = False if thisWorks: query = 'title={:s}&printable={:s}'.format(title, yesOrNo(printable)) opener = urllib2.build_opener() opener.addheaders = [('User-agent', 'Mozilla/5.0')] response = opener.open(URL + query) else: params = {'title':title,'printable':yesOrNo(printable)} data = urllib.urlencode(params) headers = {'User-agent':'Mozilla/5.0'}; request = urllib2.Request(URL, data, headers) response = urllib2.urlopen(request) return response.geturl(), response.read() def getSoup(html, name=None, attrs=None): soup = BeautifulSoup(html) if name is None: return None return soup.find(name, attrs) def setTitle(soup, newTitle): title = soup.find('div', {'id':'toctitle'}) h2 = title.find('h2') h2.contents[0].replaceWith('{:s} for {:s}'.format(h2.getText(), newTitle)) def updateLinks(soup, url): fragment = '#' for a in soup.findAll('a', href=True): a['href'] = a['href'].replace(fragment, url + fragment) def writeToFile(soup, filename='out.html', indentLevel=2): with open(filename, 'wt') as out: pp = pprint.PrettyPrinter(indent=indentLevel, stream=out) pp.pprint(soup) print('Wrote {:s} successfully.'.format(filename)) if __name__ == '__main__': def exitPgrm(): print('usage: {:s} "<PAGE>" <FILE>'.format(argv[0])) exit(0) if len(argv) == 2: help = argv[1] if help == '-h' or help == '--help': exitPgrm() if False:''' if not len(argv) == 3: exitPgrm() ''' page = 'Led Zeppelin' # argv[1] filename = 'test.html' # argv[2] title = getTitleFromRaw(page) url, html = getUrlAndHtml(title) soup = getSoup(html, 'div', {'id':'toc'}) setTitle(soup, page) updateLinks(soup, url) writeToFile(soup, filename)

  • Bootstarap: want to trigger some costum events on layout change

    - by DS_web_developer
    So, there are some events in my app that changes layout on my page (re-position of the elements)... mostly is done by bootstrap collapsing and fading (tabs, collapsibles, accordions)... I would like to fire an event whenever a change is about to happen and another when the change is done.. right now I came out with something like that $('.collapse').on("shown hidden", function(){ jQuery(myAPP).trigger("layoutchanged"); }); $('.collapse').on("show hide", function(){ jQuery(myAPP).trigger("layoutchanging"); }); and then... jQuery(myAPP).on("layoutchanging", function(e){ log("Start changing"); }); jQuery(myAPP).on("layoutchanged", function(e){ log("Layout changed"); }); it works for collapse and accordions OK. but on tabs, where the markup is like this: <ul class="nav nav-tabs can_deactivate"> <li><a href="#tab_1" data-toggle="tab">Open Tab 1</a></li> <li><a href="#tab_2" data-toggle="tab">Open Tab 2</a></li> </ul> <div class="tab-content"> <div class="tab-pane fade" id="tab_1"> Lorem ipsum </div> <div class="tab-pane fade" id="tab_2"> Lorem ipsum </div> </div> Works only on show, but not on hide... what can I do? • Handling Types Defined in Plug-ins That Are No Longer Available

    - by Chris
    I am developing a .NET framework application that allows users to maintain and save "projects". A project can consist of components whose types are defined in the assemblies of the framework itself and/or in third-party assemblies that will be made available to the framework via a yet-to-be-built plug-in architecture. When a project is saved, it is simply binary-serialised to file. Projects are portable, so multiple users can load the same project into their own instances of the framework (just as different users may open the same MSWord document in their own local copies of MSWord). What's more, the plug-ins available to one user's framework might not be available to that of another. I need some way of ensuring that when a user attempts to open (i.e. deserialise) a project that includes a type whose defining assembly cannot be found (either because of a framework version incompatibility or the absence of a plug-in), the project still opens but the offending type is somehow substituted or omitted. Trouble is, the research I've done to date does not even hint at a suitable approach. Any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks.

  • Replacing a word in a text file with a value using python

    - by Jamde Jam
    I have been trying to replace a word in a text file with a value (say 1), but my outfile is blank.I am new to python (its only been a month since I have been learning it). My file is relatively large, but I just want to replace a word with the value 1 for now. Here is a segment of what the file looks like: NAME SECOND_1 ATOM 1 6 0 0 0 # ORB 1 ATOM 2 2 0 12/24 0 # ORB 2 ATOM 3 2 12/24 0 0 # ORB 2 ATOM 4 2 0 0 4/24 # ORB 3 ATOM 5 2 0 0 20/24 # ORB 3 ATOM 6 2 0 0 8/24 # ORB 3 ATOM 7 2 0 0 16/24 # ORB 3 ATOM 8 6 0 0 12/24 # ORB 1 ATOM 9 2 12/24 0 12/24 # ORB 2 ATOM 10 2 0 12/24 12/24 # ORB 2 #1 #2 #3 I want to first replace the word ATOM with the value 1. Next I want to replace #ORB with a space. Here is what I am trying thus far. input = open('SECOND_orbitsJ22.txt','r') output=open('SECOND_orbitsJ22_out.txt','w') for line in input: word=line.split(',') if(word[0]=='ATOM'): word[0]='1' output.write(','.join(word)) Can anyone offer any suggestions or help? Thanks so much.

  • Vim - show diff on commit in mercurial;

    - by JackLeo
    In my .hgrc I can provide an editor or a command to launch an editor with options on commit. I want to write a method or alias that launches $ hg ci, it would not only open up message in Vim, but also would split window and there print out $ hg diff. I know that I can give parameters to vim by using +{command} option. So launching $ vim "+vsplit" does the split but any other options goes to first opened window. So I assume i need a specific function, yet I have no experience in writing my own Vim scripts. The script should: Open new vertical split with empty buffer (with vnew possibly) In empty buffer launch :.!hg diff Set empty buffer file type as diff :set ft=diff I've written such function: function! HgCiDiff() vnew :.!hg diff set ft=diff endfunction And in .hgrc I've added option: editor = vim "+HgCiDiff()" It kind of works, but I would like that splited window would be in right side (now it opens up in left) and mercurial message would be focused window. Also :wq could be setted as temporary shortcut to :wq<CR>:q! (having an assumption that mercurial message is is focused). Any suggestions to make this a bit more useful and less chunky? UPDATE: I found vim split guide so changing vnew with rightbelow vnew opens up diff on the right side.

  • Can I dispose a DataTable and still use its data later?

    - by Eduardo León
    Noob ADO.NET question: Can I do the following? Retrieve a DataTable somehow. Dispose it. Still use its data. (But not send it back to the database, or request the database to update it.) I have the following function, which is indirectly called by every WebMethod in a Web Service of mine: public static DataTable GetDataTable(string cmdText, SqlParameter[] parameters) { // Read the connection string from the web.config file. Configuration configuration = WebConfigurationManager.OpenWebConfiguration("/WSProveedores"); ConnectionStringSettings connectionString = configuration.ConnectionStrings.ConnectionStrings["..."]; SqlConnection connection = null; SqlCommand command = null; SqlParameterCollection parameterCollection = null; SqlDataAdapter dataAdapter = null; DataTable dataTable = null; try { // Open a connection to the database. connection = new SqlConnection(connectionString.ConnectionString); connection.Open(); // Specify the stored procedure call and its parameters. command = new SqlCommand(cmdText, connection); command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; parameterCollection = command.Parameters; foreach (SqlParameter parameter in parameters) parameterCollection.Add(parameter); // Execute the stored procedure and retrieve the results in a table. dataAdapter = new SqlDataAdapter(command); dataTable = new DataTable(); dataAdapter.Fill(dataTable); } finally { if (connection != null) { if (command != null) { if (dataAdapter != null) { // Here the DataTable gets disposed. if (dataTable != null) dataTable.Dispose(); dataAdapter.Dispose(); } parameterCollection.Clear(); command.Dispose(); } if (connection.State != ConnectionState.Closed) connection.Close(); connection.Dispose(); } } // However, I still return the DataTable // as if nothing had happened. return dataTable; }

  • The CLR has been unable to transition from COM context [...] for 60 seconds

    - by BlueRaja The Green Unicorn
    I am getting this error on code that used to work. I have not changed the code. Here is the full error: The CLR has been unable to transition from COM context 0x3322d98 to COM context 0x3322f08 for 60 seconds. The thread that owns the destination context/apartment is most likely either doing a non pumping wait or processing a very long running operation without pumping Windows messages. This situation generally has a negative performance impact and may even lead to the application becoming non responsive or memory usage accumulating continually over time. To avoid this problem, all single threaded apartment (STA) threads should use pumping wait primitives (such as CoWaitForMultipleHandles) and routinely pump messages during long running operations. And here is the code that caused it: var openFileDialog1 = new System.Windows.Forms.OpenFileDialog(); openFileDialog1.DefaultExt = "mdb"; openFileDialog1.Filter = "Management Database (manage.mdb)|manage.mdb"; //Stalls indefinitely on the following line, then gives the CLR error //one minute later. The dialog never opens. if(openFileDialog1.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK) { .... } Yes, I am sure the dialog is not open in the background, and no, I don't have any explicit COM code or unmanaged marshalling or multithreading. I have no idea why the OpenFileDialog won't open - any ideas?

  • using string to read file - XCode

This is the full error I get from the top code: malloc: * error for object 0x100010a20: pointer being freed was not allocated * set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug Program received signal: “SIGABRT”.

  • How can I determine PerlLogHandler performance impact?

    - by Timmy
    I want to create a custom Apache2 log handler, and the template that is found on the apache site is: #file:MyApache2/LogPerUser.pm #--------------------------- package MyApache2::LogPerUser; use strict; use warnings; use Apache2::RequestRec (); use Apache2::Connection (); use Fcntl qw(:flock); use File::Spec::Functions qw(catfile); use Apache2::Const -compile => qw(OK DECLINED); sub handler { my $r = shift; my ($username) = $r->uri =~ m|^/~([^/]+)|; return Apache2::Const::DECLINED unless defined $username; my $entry = sprintf qq(%s [%s] "%s" %d %d\n), $r->connection->remote_ip, scalar(localtime), $r->uri, $r->status, $r->bytes_sent; my $log_path = catfile Apache2::ServerUtil::server_root, "logs", "$username.log"; open my $fh, ">>$log_path" or die "can't open $log_path: $!"; flock $fh, LOCK_EX; print $fh $entry; close $fh; return Apache2::Const::OK; } 1; What is the performance cost of the flocks? Is this logging process done in parallel, or in serial with the HTTP request? In parallel the performance would not matter as much, but I wouldn't want the user to wait another split second to add something like this.

  • Jquery Accordion : set action to a specific element inside header

    - by J.Tay
    by default, if we have something like this as a Header in jQuery Accordion : <h3> <div class="1">TEXT</div> <div class="2">ICON</div> <div class="3">BUTTON</div> </h3> by clicking anywhere on this , accordion works and toggle the next element and ... the question is , how can we set an option and select a specific element ( like: 'div' with class '1' ) to click on it to and toggle the accordion. i mean i don't want the whole Header remain click able. i just want to click on a icon or div o something inside the header and toggle open/close the accordion. thank you Update 1 : HTML : <div id="testAcc"> <h3> <div class="one">Text</div> <div class="two">Icon</div> <div class="three">Button</div> </h3> <div class="accBody"> text text text text text text text text text text </div> <h3> <div class="one">Text</div> <div class="two">Icon</div> <div class="three">Button</div> </h3> <div class="accBody"> text text text text text text text text text text </div> </div> JS : $('#testAcc').accordion({ autoHeight: false, header: 'h3', collapsible: 'ture', }); this codes working fine. but i want to use something like ( header: 'h3.one' ) means i want to set a specific class and element inside the header , then if user click ONLY on that element, the accordion will open or close ...

  • Programatically rebuild .exd-files when loading VBA

    - by aspartame
    Hi, After updating Microsoft Office 2007 to Office 2010 some custom VBA scripts embedded in our software failed to compile with the following error message: Object library invalid or contains references to object definitions that could not be found. As far as I know, this error is a result of a security update from Microsoft (Microsoft Security Advisory 960715). When adding ActiveX-controls to VBA scripts, information about the controls are stored in cache files on the local hard drive (.exd-files). The security update modified some of these controls, but the .exd-files were not automatically updated. When the VBA scripts try to load the old versions of the controls stored in the cached files, the error occurs. These cache-files must be removed from the hard drive in order for the controls to load successfully (which will create new, updated .exd-files automatically). What I would like to do is to programatically (using Visual C++) remove the outdated .exd-files when our software loads. When opening a VBA project using CApcProject::ApcProject.Open I set the following flag:axProjectThrowAwayCompiledState. TestHR(ApcProject.Open(pHost, (MSAPC::AxProjectFlag) (MSAPC::axProjectNormal | MSAPC::axProjectThrowAwayCompiledState))); According to the documentation, this flag should cause the VBA project to be recompiled and the temporary files to be deleted and rebuilt. I've also tried to update the checksum of the host application type library which should have the same effect. However none of these fixes seem to do the job and I'm running out of ideas. Help is very much appreciated!

  • How to move point on arc?

    - by bbZ
    I am writing an app that is simulating RobotArm movement. What I want to achieve, and where I have couple of problems is moving a Point on arc (180degree) that is arm range of movement. I am moving an arm by grabbing with mouse end of arm (Elbow, the Point I was talking about), robot can have multiple arms with diffrent arm lenghts. If u can help me with this part, I'd be grateful. This is what I have so far, drawing function: public void draw(Graphics graph) { Graphics2D g2d = (Graphics2D) graph.create(); graph.setColor(color); graph.fillOval(location.x - 4, location.y - 4, point.width, point.height); //Draws elbow if (parentLocation != null) { graph.setColor(Color.black); graph.drawLine(location.x, location.y, parentLocation.x, parentLocation.y); //Connects to parent if (arc == null) { angle = new Double(90 - getAngle(parentInitLocation)); arc = new Arc2D.Double(parentLocation.x - (parentDistance * 2 / 2), parentLocation.y - (parentDistance * 2 / 2), parentDistance * 2, parentDistance * 2, 90 - getAngle(parentInitLocation), 180, Arc2D.OPEN); //Draws an arc if not drawed yet. } else if (angle != null) //if parent is moved, angle is moved also { arc = new Arc2D.Double(parentLocation.x - (parentDistance * 2 / 2), parentLocation.y - (parentDistance * 2 / 2), parentDistance * 2, parentDistance * 2, angle, 180, Arc2D.OPEN); } g2d.draw(arc); } if (spacePanel.getElbows().size() > level + 1) {//updates all childElbows position updateChild(graph); } } I just do not know how to prevent moving Point moving outside of arc line. It can not be inside or outside arc, just on it. Here I wanted to put a screenshot, sadly I don't have enough rep. Am I allowed to put link to this? Maybe you got other ways how to achieve this kind of thing. Here is the image: Red circle is actual state, and green one is what I want to do. EDIT2: As requested, repo link: https://github.com/dspoko/RobotArm

  • VB dataset issue

    Hi. The idea was to create a message box that stores my user name, message, and post datetime into the database as messages are sent. Soon came to realise, what if the user changed his name? So I decided to use the user id (icn) to identify the message poster instead. However, my chunk of codes keep giving me the same error. Says that there are no rows in the dataset ds2. I've tried my Query on my SQL and it works perfectly so I really really need help to spot the error in my chunk of codes here. For this, I am thinking of using "CFStreamCreatePairWithSocketToHost" to connect to port 80 of the apache server. I am able to successfully connect to the server and open a read and write stream via the iPhone, but I am not sure how to send data to the iphone using PHP running from the LAMP server to the iPhone. I think I can use fsockopen in php to open a socket connection and write data to that socket. I tired running this code $fp = fsockopen("tcp://localhost", 80, $errno, $errstr); if (!$fp) { echo "ERROR: $errno - $errstr<br />\n"; } else { echo"writing to socket "; fwrite($fp, "wwqeqweqw eqwe qwe \n"); //echo fread($fp, 26); fclose($fp); echo "done"; } But, I dont see anything being read on the iphone.. Any idea what's going on, or how to accomplish this? Thanks!

  • Inline function and global variable issue in Javascript

    - by Natim
    I have some code here : http://bitbucket.org/natim/lo53_tp1/src/tip/part3/camions/medias/js/tracking.js That I use to draw some information about trucks direction. The problem come from a function defined in a for loop like this one : ... for(i = 0; i < nb_trucks; i++) { ... contentString = '<div id="content">'+ trucks[i]['name'] + '</div>'; current_window = new google.maps.InfoWindow({ content: contentString }); infosWindow.push(current_window); current_marker = new google.maps.Marker({ map: map, position: new google.maps.LatLng(trucks[i]['end']['lat'], trucks[i]['end']['lon']), draggable: false, title: trucks[i]['name'] }); markers.push(current_marker); google.maps.event.addListener(current_marker, 'click', function() { current_window.open(map, current_marker); }); } In this code, you can see the last block google.maps.event.addListener(current_marker, 'click', function() { current_window.open(map, current_marker); }); And my problem is that current_marker in the addListener parameters is different from the one inside the function. The current_window and the current_marker inside the function is overide at each loop turn. How can I get it right ? Thanks

  • ODP.NET Procedure Compilation

    - by Bobcat1506
    When I try to execute a create procedure using ODP.NET I get back ORA-24344: success with compilation error. However, when I run the same statement in SQL Developer it compiles successfully. Does anyone know what I need to change to get my procedure to compile? Is it a character set issue? I am using Oracle 10g Express, .NET 3.5 SP 1, and ODP.NET 2.111.7.20 (version from Oracle.DataAccess.dll) [TestMethod] public void OdpNet_CreateProcedure() { ConnectionStringSettings settings = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ODP.NET"]; using (var con = new OracleConnection(settings.ConnectionString)) { con.InfoMessage += new OracleInfoMessageEventHandler(con_InfoMessage); con.Open(); var cmd = new OracleCommand(); cmd.Connection = con; cmd.CommandText = @" CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE TABLE1_GET ( P_CURSOR OUT SYS_REFCURSOR ) IS BEGIN OPEN P_CURSOR FOR SELECT * FROM TABLE1; END;"; cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); // ORA-24344: success with compilation error cmd.CommandText = @"ALTER PROCEDURE TABLE1_GET COMPILE"; cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); // ORA-24344: success with compilation error } } void con_InfoMessage(object sender, OracleInfoMessageEventArgs eventArgs) { System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(eventArgs.Message); }

  • KaZip for C++Builder2009/Delphi

    - by Katsumi
    Hi. I have download and install KaZip2.0 on C++Builder2009 (with little minor changes = only set type String to AnsiString). I have write: KAZip1->FileName = "test.zip"; KAZip1->CreateZip("test.zip"); KAZip1->Active = true; KAZip1->Entries->AddFile("pack\\text.txt","xxx.txt"); KAZip1->Active = false; KAZip1->Close(); now he create a test.zip with included xxx.txt (59byte original, 21byte packed). I open the archiv in WinRAR successful and want open the xxx.txt, but WinRAR says file is corrupt. :( What is wrong? Can somebody help me? Extract not working, because file is corrupt? KAZip1->FileName = "test.zip"; KAZip1->Active = true; KAZip1->Entries->ExtractToFile("xxx.txt","zzz.txt"); KAZip1->Active = false; KAZip1->Close();

  • UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character [...]

    - by user1461135
    I have read the HOWTO on Unicode from the official docs and a full, very detailed article as well. Still I don't get it why it throws me this error. Here is what I attempt: I open an XML file that contains chars out of ASCII range (but inside allowed XML range). I do that with cfg = codecs.open(filename, encoding='utf-8, mode='r') which runs fine. Looking at the string with repr() also shows me a unicode string. Now I go ahead and read that with parseString(cfg.read().encode('utf-8'). Of course, my XML file starts with this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>. Although I suppose it is not relevant, I also defined utf-8 for my python script, but since I am not writing unicode characters directly in it, this should not apply here. Same for the following line: from __future__ import unicode_literals which also is right at the beginning. Next thing I pass the generated Object to my own class where I read tags into variables like this: xmldata.getElementsByTagName(tagName)[0].firstChild.data and assign it to a variable in my class. Now what perfectly works are those commands (obj is an instance of the class): for element in obj: print element And this command does work as well: print obj.__repr__() I defined __iter__() to just yield every variable while __repr__() uses the typical printf stuff: "%s" % self.varname Both commands print perfectly and can output the unicode character. What does not work is this: print obj And now I am stuck because this throws the dreaded UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\xfc' in position 47: So what am I missing? What am I doing wrong? I am looking for a general solution, I always want to handle strings as unicode, just to avoid any possible errors and write a compatible program. Edit: I also defined this: def __str__(self): return self.__repr__() def __unicode__(self): return self.__repr__() From documentation I got that this

  • sql server mdf file database attachment

    - by jnsohnumr
    hello all i'm having a bear of a time getting visual studio 2010 (ultimate i think) to properly attach to my database. it was moved from original spot to #MYAPP#/#MYAPP#.Web/App_Data/#MDF_FILE#.mdf. I have three instances of sql server running on this machine. i have tried to replace the old mdf file with my new one and cannot get the connectionstring right for it. what i'm really wanting to do is to just open some DB instance, run a DB create script. Then I can have a DB that was generated via my edmx (generate database from model) in silverlight business application (c#) right now, when i go to server explorer in VS, choose add new connection, choose MS SQL Server Database FIle (SqlClient), choose my file location (app_data directory), use windows authentication, and hit the Test Connection button I get the following error: Unable to open the physical file "". Operating system error 5: "5(Access Denied.)". An attempt to attach to an auto-named database for file"" failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share. The mdf file was created on the same machine by connecting to (local) on the sql server management studio, getting a new query, pasting in the SQL from the generated ddl file, adding a CREATE DATABASE [NcrCarDatabase]; GO before the pasted SQL, and executing the query. I then disconnected from the DB in management studio, closed management studio, navigated to the DATA directory for that instance, and copying the mdf and ldf files to my application's app_data folder. I am then trying to connect to the same file inside visual studio. I hope that gives more clarity to my problems :). Connection string is: Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=C:\SourceCode\NcrCarDatabase\NcrCarDatabase.Web\App_Data\NcrCarDatabase.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True
