Hi, I heard that there are applications that allow people to do transactions by just touching there iPhones to each other. How is that archive via code in Objective C?
I have several Flex applications in a project, and I would like to know if there's a way to get a list of the classes (and ideally, other assets) that are being compiled into each one. I want an easy way of making sure I've kept things separate and there aren't unnecessary dependencies. Any ideas? I'm running Flash Builder 4.
I'm trying to refactor some of my iphone code into a library project that can be linked to by several different applications. I made a new iphone library project and copied over some of my classes there, but the project can't build because it doesn't know about stuff like UIView or CGRect. I added in the UIKit, CoreGraphics, and QuartzCore frameworks, but still no go. What am I missing?
I am not a programmer. I would pay for an application that allowed me to create a link between a calendar appointment and one or more of my contacts. This seems like an obvious applications with a huge market Why is it not possible to do this?
Some of the GNU library code can be have enhanced debugging if the flag _LIBC is set. While using -D_LIBC when compiling gives the error message
"/usr/include/gnu/stubs.h:7:3: #error Applications may not define the macro _LIBC"
So how do you define this variable?
To help support and anyone who may use one of my applications I tend to log a few things during the application startup.
Currently I log:
Start Time
App Name
App Author
App Version
App Classpath
Current working directory
Java vendor
Java version
Max heap size
Taking into consideration this application may be used / supported by a whole host of people can anyone think of any other vital details which we / others should log for good practice?
Hey
I'm trying to set up a backup feature for the users in a Active Directory Domain.
The wish is for the clients "my docuemnts" folder to sync to a folder on the file server.
Is this doable using Active Directory only, or do one need any third party applications?
If its doable, what steps is needed to set this up, on the server, and clients?
Thank you in advance
I'm a newbie at networking. I understand the concept of multicast, but was wondering if it's reliable on the open/public internet?
It seems like sort of an edge case that different backbones or ISPs might intentionally break to reduce router load or generally segment the network for practical high-use applications.
Is my fear reasonable?
P.S. Follow-up question here:

Are there any guidelines to writing Google App Engine Python code that would work without Google's infrastructure on other platforms?
Is there any known attempt to create an open source framework which can run applications designed for Google App Engine on other platforms?
Edit:
To clarify, the question really is:
If I develop an application on Google App Engine now, will I be able to migrate to another platform later, or is it a lock in?
I'm looking to develop my first Facebook application and therefore looking for some advice on where to get started.
I've spent a few hours browsing Facebook's Developer Wiki, Facebooker library, looking at the sample chapters in "Developing Facebook Applications with Rails" by Pragmatic Programmers, etc.
Since FB is constantly changing their API, and Facebook Connect is newer than the aforementioned book, does anyone have any advice on where to get started?
We're excited at the prospect of upgrading our development IDE from Visual Studio 2008 to 2010. Our production environment, however, is not scheduled to be upgraded from .net 3.5 sp1 to .net 4.0 in the near future.
What are the possible risks in using Visual Studio 2010 to develop production grade applications that will actually run on .net 3.5 sp1 ?
I can imagine that the 'server' can be a machine/host but can be also a program like ftp server, smtp server, etc..
The 'service' on the other hand refers mainly to applications/programms..
Why can then for example the Sql Server cannot be called as Sql Service? It has the same semanthics. Or the other way round: MS Azure service: why it isn't called Azure Server? :)
hey huys im counting my table with this code:
$county = mysql_query("SELECT COUNT(id) from table where type = 'application'");
$county = mysql_result($county, 0);
$applications = ''.$county.'';
this give me result like 1156563. but I want to see it like 1,156,563 with commas. how can i do this?
I was hoping someone could explain why my application when loaded uses varying amounts of RAM. I'm speaking about a compiled version that uses the exe directly. It's a pretty basic applications and there are no conditional branches in the startup of the application. Yet every time I start it up the RAM amount varies from 6MB-16MB.
I know it's on the small end of usage anyways but I'm curious of why this happens.
If you are a web developer:
Which web browser do you use as your primary development tool.
Why?
What killer feature(s) does your browser of choice give you that helps you write better web applications?
How can I add shortcut keys to my menu items. I notice that many applications have:
New ctrl+N
Open ctrl+O
Do I write the endings (like ctrl+N) myself and handle WM_KEYDOWN or is there a magical way to do it with resources?
Thanks
What are the option in terms of applications that help build SQL statements against a MSSQL database?
We have some users that need to build sql statements, perferably through drag and dropping or linking up tables etc.., against a MSSQL databse who don't have any experience in this area.
Any Ideas?
Does anyone know a complete JSF 2.0 sample or open source application using JSF 2.0 features (Facelets, Composite Component, Templates, Ajax, Navigation, etc.). Would be a good reference to learn some best practices. I'm talking about an application that you would also use in production. The only ones I know are ScrumToys and PetCatalog which are delivered with NetBeans 6.9 and are "tutorial-like" applications.
Hi there, I'm a new in Android and Java and I have the following problem. I want to change standard resources, such as button background, programatically to allow applications using standard buttons be displayed with custom background. My problem is - how shall I identify the path for retrieval resources on phone or emulator? And if we have permissions to access to those resources?
I've writing a Gnome window-switcher applet in PyGtk+ using menu items to represent the different applications running on the desktop. One thing I'd like to do is to activate the menu item under the cursor when I hover over the menubar. I can connect to the 'enter-notify-event' on the menu bar, but I don't know what to when it is triggered.
So that's my question, how can I make the submenus of the menu bar open when I hover over their parent items?
I would like to create a pseudo filesystem like /proc to access an applications configuration.
How could i achieve this or where could i find some introductory dokumentation about it?
I migrated from Java to C# and so I am wondering how to unit tests in C#. I remember using JUnit to test my Java applications and importing the package, etc. How can I unit test in C#? What are some good resources for unit testing in C#?
Is there way to dump the current screen to a bitmap in Android?
And what about dump screen of other applications? For example, running a service background, the foreground app could send an intent to start the service, and capture the current screen and save as a bitmap.
I have a client who wants to transition off their old environment into .NET.
The client has a good grounding in basic OO concepts (their existing development environment supports this) and are expert developers, but need a quick "up to speed" introduction to the .NET framework (C# as the chosen language) for building Line of Business applications (they're keen on Silverlight).
Any recommendations?
Hi,
As Rails applications default run on port 3000, would it be possible to start the application on port 80? Is it really required to have a fastcgi/mod_proxy enabled web server in front? My users won't be more than three at a time. If so, how would I be able to do so?
Thanks!
