  • how do I get the form data in a javascript object so I can send it as the data parameter of an $.aja

    - by user281180

  • one-liner if statements...

    - by snickered
    Total noob here so be gentle. I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find the answer to this. How do I condense the following? if (expression) { return true; } else { return false; } I can't get it to work since it's returning something vs. setting something. I've already seen things like this: somevar = (expression) ? value1 : value2; Like I said, please be gentle :)

  • OneToMany association updates instead of insert

    - by Shvalb
    I have an entity with one-to-many association to child entity. The child entity has 2 columns as PK and one of the column is FK to the parent table. mapping looks like this: @OneToMany(cascade = {CascadeType.ALL}, fetch = FetchType.EAGER ) @JoinColumn(name="USER_RESULT_SEQUENCES.USER_RESULT_ID", referencedColumnName="USER_RESULT_ID", unique=true, insertable=true, updatable=false) private List<UserResultSequence> sequences; I create an instance of parent and add children instances to list and then try to save it to DB. If child table is empty it inserts all children and it works perfectly. if the child table is not empty it updates existing rows! I don't know why it updates instead of inserts, any ideas why this might happen?? Thank you!

  • Windows Service on NetworkService account can't access remote (shared) directory

    - by Aetius
    I'm trying to remotely access a shared folder with a Windows Service set to NetworkService account permissions. However, I get errors when I try to do this, e.g. Directory.Exists(servicePath) returns false, FileSystemWatcher doesn't recognize activity in the directory. If I change the service's account to LocalSystem, these methods work. I don't want to give the service root-level access, though. It seems to be a permissions problem, so how can I give the service permission to access the directory and monitor it?

  • Writing an installer using codigniter

    - by RobertWHurst
    I'm just about finished my first release of automailer, a program I've been working on for a while now. I've just got to finish writing the installer. Its job is to rewrite the codigniter configs from templates. I've got the read/write stuff working, but I'd like to be able to test the server credentials given by the user without codingiter throwing a system error if they're wrong. Is there a function other than mysql_connect that I can use to test a connection that will return true or false and won't make codeigniter have a fit?

Any idea why? I am having similar issues with other code as well For instance if (!myParameter) this.mycheckBox.Enabled = false; else this.mycheckBox.Enabled = true; The above code works in debug mode not in release. Not sure why. Thanks

  • How can I get Ruby to treat the index of a string as a character (rather than the ASCII code)?

    - by user336777
    I am checking to see if the last character in a directory path is a '/'. How do you get ruby to treat the specific index of a string as a character rather than the associated ASCII code? For example the following always returns false: dir[dir.length - 1] == '/' This is because dir[dir.length - 1] returns the ASCII code 47 (rather than '/'). Any thoughts on how to interpret 47 as '/'? Or is there a completely different way to handle this in the first place? thanks.

I tried: 1. <input onLoad="this.disabled=false" id="post-comment" type="submit" value="Post Your Comment" disabled="disabled"/> 2. <input onLoad="this.removeAttribute("disabled");" id="post-comment" type="submit" value="Post Your Comment" disabled="disabled"/> 3. <input onLoad="document.getElementById("post-comment").removeAttribute("disabled");" id="post-comment" type="submit" value="Post Your Comment" disabled="disabled"/> Doesn't work. I'm new to JavaScript, but can't find answer on the net.

  • Backbone.js Model validation fails to prevent Model from saving

    - by Benjen
    I have defined a validate method for a Backbone.js Model. The problem is that even if validation fails (i.e. the Model.validate method returns a value) the post/put request is still sent to the server. This contradicts what is explained in the Backbone.js documentation. I cannot understand what I am doing wrong. The following is the Model definition: /** * Model - Contact */ var Contact = Backbone.Model.extend({ urlRoot: '/contacts.json', idAttribute: '_id', defaults: function() { return { surname: '', given_name: '', org: '', phone: new Array(), email: new Array(), address: new Array({ street: '', district: '', city: '', country: '', postcode: '' }) }; } validate: function(attributes) { if (typeof attributes.validationDisabled === 'undefined') { var errors = new Array(); // Validate surname. if (_.isEmpty(attributes.surname) === true) { errors.push({ type: 'form', attribute: 'surname', message: 'Please enter a surname.' }); } // Validate emails. if (_.isEmpty(attributes.email) === false) { var emailRegex = /^[a-z0-9._%+-]+@[a-z0-9.-]+\.[a-z]{2,6}$/i; // Stores indexes of email values which fail validation. var emailIndex = new Array(); _.each(attributes.email, function(email, index) { if (emailRegex.test(email.value) === false) { emailIndex.push(index); } }); // Create error message. if (emailIndex.length > 0) { errors.push({ type: 'form', attribute: 'email', index: emailIndex, message: 'Please enter valid email address.' }); } } if (errors.length > 0) { console.log('Form validation failed.'); return errors; } } } }); Here is the View which calls the Model.save() method (see: method saveContact() below). Note that other methods belonging to this View have not been included below for reasons of brevity. /** * View - Edit contact form */ var EditContactFormView = Backbone.View.extend({ initialize: function() { _.bindAll(this, 'createDialog', 'formError', 'render', 'saveContact', 'updateContact'); // Add templates. this._editFormTemplate = _.template($('#edit-contact-form-tpl').html()); this._emailFieldTemplate = _.template($('#email-field-tpl').html()); this._phoneFieldTemplate = _.template($('#phone-field-tpl').html()); // Get URI of current page. this.currentPageUri = this.options.currentPageUri; // Create array to hold references to all subviews. this.subViews = new Array(); // Set options for new or existing contact. this.model = this.options.model; // Bind with Model validation error event. this.model.on('error', this.formError); this.render(); } /** * Deals with form validation errors */ formError: function(model, error) { console.log(error); }, saveContact: function(event) { var self = this; // Prevent submit event trigger from firing. event.preventDefault(); // Trigger form submit event. eventAggregator.trigger('submit:contactEditForm'); // Update model with form values. this.updateContact(); // Enable validation for Model. Done by unsetting validationDisabled // attribute. This setting was formerly applied to prevent validation // on Model.fetch() events. See this.model.validate(). this.model.unset('validationDisabled'); // Save contact to database. this.model.save(this.model.attributes, { success: function(model, response) { if (typeof response.flash !== 'undefined') { Messenger.trigger('new:messages', response.flash); } }, error: function(model, response) { console.log(response); throw error = new Error('Error occured while trying to save contact.'); } }, { wait: true }); }, /** * Extract form values and update Contact. */ updateContact: function() { this.model.set('surname', this.$('#surname-field').val()); this.model.set('given_name', this.$('#given-name-field').val()); this.model.set('org', this.$('#org-field').val()); // Extract address form values. var address = new Array({ street: this.$('input[name="street"]').val(), district: this.$('input[name="district"]').val(), city: this.$('input[name="city"]').val(), country: this.$('input[name="country"]').val(), postcode: this.$('input[name="postcode"]').val() }); this.model.set('address', address); } });

  • Map a property in the entity framework to a different type

    - by Tom
    I have a SQL Server 2008 database. I have a bunch of fields in TableA that are just strings that corresponds to booleans. So every value is either true or false. The edmx I generated using Entity Framework 4.0 has them as strings. This is technically correct but I would like to have them mapped as Booleans instead. Is this possible? If so how can I accomplish this? Thanks much!

  • PHP __call vs method_exists

    - by neo
    The Project I'm working on contains something like a wrapper for call_user_func(_array) which does some checks before execution. One of those checks is method_exists (In Case the supplied first argument is an instance of a class and the second is a method name) The other is_callable. The function will throw an exception if one of those checks fails. My Code contains an array with function names (setFoo, setBar, etc.) and the php magic function for overloading (__call) which handles setting, replacing and deletion of certain variables (better certain array elements). The Problem: method_exists will return false if the function is not defined. Do I have any chance to get a true if the __call function does proper handling of the request?

  • What is the differance between those two Strings in Java

    - by user1816808
    why when we declare string in java we can't use == to compare this string and always will turn to false while if we initialize the string from the beginning it will be true . for example : import java.util.Scanner; public class MyString { /** * @param args */ public static void main(String[] args) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub Scanner input = new Scanner(System.in); String s = input.nextLine(); if(s=="Hello") system.out.println("Hello"); String d = "Hello"; if(d=="Hello") system.out.println("Hello"); } } I need an explanation please ??

  • Using preg_match as boolean AND array

    - by silow
    I have this code where preg_match is used to break up a string into $pmarr array. Index 1 of that array is then being used to set a value $val = $pmarr[1]. $pmarr = array(); if (preg_match($expression, $orig, $pmarr)) { $val = $pmarr[1]; } What I'm wondering about is why the preg_match itself is being used as a boolean. If the expression doesn't match, does the array stay empty and therefore equate to false? Is the above code the same as saying preg_match($expression, $orig, $pmarr); if(isset($pmarr[1]) AND !empty($pmarr[1])){ $val = $pmarr[1]; }

  • && (AND) and || (OR) in Java IF statements

    - by Azimuth
    My question might be very basic but still I think it worths to ask. I have the following code: if(!partialHits.get(req_nr).containsKey(z) || partialHits.get(req_nr).get(z) < tmpmap.get(z)){ partialHits.get(z).put(z, tmpmap.get(z)); } where partialHits is a HashMap. What will happen if the first statement is true? Will Java still check the second statement? Because in order the first statement to be true, the HashMap should not contain the given key, so if the second statement is checked, I will get NullPointerException. So in simple words, if we have the following code if(a && b) if(a || b) would Java check b if a is false in the first case and if a is true in the second case?

  • ColdFusion debugging output in my Ajax

    - by cf_PhillipSenn
    If I turn off "Enable Request Debugging Output", the 3rd option under the Debug Output Settings, then I no longer get debug info in my $.ajax call to a cfc with access="remote". That's good, but I'd like to keep it turned on for all my other programs and turn it off programatically for this one exception. I put <cfsetting showdebugoutput="false"> at the top of my Index.cfm, but that didn't turn off the debug output coming from the cfc. Oh wait. Never mind. I had to put the in the function rather than in Index.cfm.

  • Two phase Construction in C++

    - by tommieb75
    I have as part of assignment to look into a development kit that uses the "two-phase" construction for C++ classes: // Include Header class someFubar{ public: someFubar(); bool Construction(void); ~someFubar(); private: fooObject _fooObj; } In the source // someFubar.cpp someFubar::someFubar : _fooObj(null){ } bool someFubar::Construction(void){ bool rv = false; this->_fooObj = new fooObject(); if (this->_fooObj != null) rv = true; return rv; } someFubar::~someFubar(){ if (this->_fooObj != null) delete this->_fooObj; } Why would this "two-phase" be used and what benefits are there? Why not just instantiate the object initialization within the actual constructor?

  • Php, in_array with no exactly match

    - by John Smith
    I want to do the following: $a = array(); $a[] = array(1,2); $a[] = array(2,5); $a[] = array(3,4); var_dump (in_array(array(2,5), $a)); this returns OK, as it expected, but if the source array is not fully matched: $a = array(); $a[] = array(1,2, 'f' => array()); $a[] = array(2,5, 'f' => array()); $a[] = array(3,4, 'f' => array()); var_dump (in_array(array(2,5), $a)); it returns false. Is there a way to do it with the built-in way, or I have to code it?
