  • Measuring accesses to files - apache

    - by George
So, I run a website, that among other things serves some files (usually PDFs). All of these are stored under a specific directory on the server: /var/www/vhosts/mysite.com/httpdocs/site/pdf_files Due to storage issues on my VPS I am thinking of getting some S3 or other cloud storage, and mount it as a drive using S3QL/S3FS. Then I will be able to have the pdf_files folder symlinked to the cloud folder and serve those files using that, without any changes on the web app (is that a good plan?) Now, before doing that, to estimate costs, I need to measure how many file accesses people do, how many times those pdf files are downloaded each month for example. Basically how many times those pdf files are accessed through the webserver. I'd like to do it on the apache level. What's the best way that this can be done? e.g.: measuring the bandwidth used by files in that specific folder would also be nice, but estimating the GET requests I'll be doing to amazon is more important.

  • Data Driven MSTest: DataRow is always null

    - by David Back
I am having a problem using Visual Studio data driven testing. I have tried to deconstruct this to the simplest example. I am using Visual Studio 2012. I create a new unit test project. I am referencing system data. My code looks like this: namespace UnitTestProject1 { [TestClass] public class UnitTest1 { [DeploymentItem(@"OrderService.csv")] [DataSource("Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.DataSource.CSV", "OrderService.csv", "OrderService#csv", DataAccessMethod.Sequential)] [TestMethod] public void TestMethod1() { try { Debug.WriteLine(TestContext.DataRow["ID"]); } catch (Exception ex) { Assert.Fail(); } } public TestContext TestContext { get; set; } } } I have a very small csv file that I have set the Build Options to to 'Content' and 'Copy Always'. I have added a .testsettings file to the solution, and set enable deployment, and added the csv file. I have tried this with and without |DataDirectory|, and with/without a full path specified (the same path that I get with Environment.CurrentDirectory). I've tried variations of "../" and "../../" just in case. Right now the csv is at the project root level, same as the .cs test code file. I have tried variations with xml as well as csv. TestContext is not null, but DataRow always is. I have not gotten this to work despite a lot of fiddling with it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Does mstest create a log anywhere that would tell me if it is failing to find the csv file, or what specific error might be causing DataRow to fail to populate? I have tried the following csv files: ID 1 2 3 4 and ID, Whatever 1,0 2,1 3,2 4,3 So far, no dice.

  • Trying to connect to QuickBooks via Web Connect in asp.net

    - by ile
I don't know if any of you have had experience with QuickBooks integration, but I have to try :) I downloaded QuickBooks Free Simple Start, Quickbooks Web Connector and Web Service sample code ... I've read Web Connector manual and followed instructions but, when using authenticate function, I always get error "nvu", meaning that username or password are not valid. Following instructions, I added this QWC file to QBWC: <?xml version="1.0"?> <QBWCXML> <AppName>My application</AppName> <AppID></AppID> <AppURL>http://localhost/QBWC/Service1.asmx</AppURL> <AppDescription>My application web service</AppDescription> <AppSupport>http://localhost/QBWC/Service1.asmx?wsdl</AppSupport> <OwnerID>{87EDAAF8-637E-4203-867F-4BA79C2F8998}</OwnerID> <FileID>{CA1C3EB8-1B61-4747-A743-8D5B438B83AC}</FileID> <UserName>test</UserName> <QBType>QBFS</QBType> <Style>Document</Style> <AuthFlags>0xF</AuthFlags> </QBWCXML> After adding this this file to QBWC, I also added password "1234". After that, I opened my web service: http://localhost/WCWebService/WCWebService.asmx?op=authenticate and in field "strUserName" entered "test", in field "strPassword" entered: "1234". But "nvu" is always returned as a result. If someone is familiar with this I would appreciate for help!

  • VS2008 javascript debugger IE8 "there is no source code available for the current location"

    - by Jeff Keslinke
I have almost the same problem as this unanswered question. The only difference is I'm using VS2008, but I'm in an MVC project calling this javascript function: function CompanyChange(compCtrl) { alert(compCtrl.value); debugger; var test; for (var i = 0; i < document.all.length; i++) { test = document.all[i]; } } I hit the alert, then I get the message "there is no source code available for the current location." At which point the page becomes unresponsive and I have to manually stop the debugger just to shut it down. I've logged into another machine and ran this exact code and it works fine, I hit the debugger and can step through. I've checked to make sure all settings in VSToolsOptionsDebugging are identical as well as IEOptionsAdvanced and they are. Both machines are Windows 7 Enterprise edition 32-bit, VS2008, IE8. I've also tried attaching a process manually in VS, and using the 'Developer Tools' in IE which didn't work (said there already was a process attached). I was hoping someone may have had this problem and found a work-around because I've already done a lot of searching and tried all the options I've read. Anyone else run into this? Thank you, Jeff

  • Why does ruby-debug say 'Saved frames may be incomplete'

    - by Chris McCauley
From time-to-time I get this when a breakpoint is triggered. It looks like stack frames aren't getting saved so I can't step back through the call stack - a real pain. See below for an example --> #0 BatchProcess.add_failure_record(row_id#Fixnum, test#Struct::Test, message#String,...) at line server/processes/batch.rb:309 Warning: saved frames may be incomplete; compare with caller(0). • CSS div/overflow Question: Why does the first HTML file work but not the second?

    - by kidvid
Notice how the first HTML/CSS works when you re-size the browser horizontally. It will shrink no further than around 800 pixels, but it will expand as far as you drag the right edge of the browser. It will also correctly overflow the table at the top and scroll it horizontally. The thing I don't like about the first code snippet is where the scrollbar is. I want it to show up within the borders of the fieldset, so even if I narrow the browser down to 800 pixels wide, I can see both the left and right sides of the fieldset's border. The second code snippet is exactly the same as the first except I add another div tag to the mix, inside of the field set and around the grid. Notice how the top fieldset's width won't correctly shrink when you make the viewport of your browser narrower. Any ideas on why it doesn't work, what I can do to get it to work like the first code snippet? I don't think I'm describing this clearly, but if you run the two side by side, and expand and contract the horizontal edge of your browser windows, you'll see the differences between the two. I'm pretty new to CSS and HTML layout, so my understanding of why CSS handles sizing the way it does in some situations is still really confusing to me. • Gmail: How to send an email programmatically

Possible Exact Duplicate: Sending Email in C#.NET Through Gmail Hi, I'm trying to send an email using gmail: I tried various examples that I found on this site and other sites but I always get the same error: Unable to connect to the remote server -- System.net.Sockets.SocketException: No connection could be made because the target actively refused it 209.85.147.109:587 public static void Attempt1() { var client = new SmtpClient("smtp.gmail.com", 587) { Credentials = new NetworkCredential("[email protected]", "MyPassWord"), EnableSsl = true }; client.Send("[email protected]", "[email protected]", "test", "testbody"); } Any ideas? • TimoutException occurs over a network but not locally

    - by Gibsnag
I have a program with three WCF services and when I run them locally (i.e: Server and Clients are all on localhost) everything works. However when I test them across a network I get a TimoutException on two services but not the other. I've disabled the firewalls on all the machines involved in the test. I can both ping the server and access the wsdl "You have created a service" webpage from the client The service that works uses a BasicHttpBinding with streaming and the two which don't work use WSDualHttpBinding. The Services that use WSDualHttpBinding both have CallbackContracts. I apologise for the vagueness of this question but I'm not really sure what code to include or where to even start looking for the solution to this. Non-working bindings: public static Binding CreateHTTPBinding() { var binding = new WSDualHttpBinding(); binding.MessageEncoding = WSMessageEncoding.Mtom; binding.MaxBufferPoolSize = 2147483647; binding.MaxReceivedMessageSize = 2147483647; binding.Security.Mode = WSDualHttpSecurityMode.None; return binding; } Exception Stack Trace: Unhandled Exception: System.TimeoutException: The open operation did not complete within the allotted timeout of 00:01:00. • Wireless AP Placement and Digramming

    - by Matt Simmons
I'm trying to research the best placement of wireless APs in a given space, and I'm running into problems in gathering information. I found (what I thought was) a great source in this tech republic article: http://techrepublic.com.com/5206-6230-0.html?forumID=82&threadID=163120 While this diagram seems detailed and overall very informative, there were a lot of comments talking about how it was lacking in things like "wire racks, microwaves, concrete walls, motors..." etc. Maybe I'm rash, but I just sort of looked around my office (which is, albeit, somewhat smaller than the one diagrammed), and went "uhhh, there", and hooked up the AP. It seems to cover everywhere. I imagine if my office quadrupled in size, I'd logically divide it up and put four APs in, with a similar amount of thought devoted to each. So, suppose I had a much more complex office. What tools (both diagramming and surveying) do you use to plan your AP placement?

  • Regarding: PKCS7, X509 and DER

    - by Sid
Hi, I am novice to the "World of cryptography". I started working with OPENSSL. I need some information and basically I do have some doubts. I have a DER format file. I read the file using following command, "openssl x509 -inform DER -in filename.der -text" I got what I supposed to be. Following things I wanted to know: 1. What is the difference between PKCS7, DER and X509 ? (My understanding is, DER is format, X509 is certificate, and PKCS7 is the standard) I wrote a test file which accepts the DER file and outputs the version, serial number, Subject, Validity date before and Validity date after, But I am unable to get certificate verified. Following is the API Used. int i = X509_verify(X509 *x509 , X509_get_pubkey(X509 *x509)); But 'i' value is 'i' < 0(zero) This is why I am getting "Signature verification problems". How to overcome this? In My test file I am unable to read the "Signature Algorithm", "Subject Public Key Info", "X509v3 extensions" and "-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----" to "-----END CERTIFICATE-----" Please give some inputs. Thanks in Advance. openSid

  • UDDI Best Practices

    - by Andrew Cripps
My organisation is getting into the SOA world (a bit late, but that's what it's like here!) and we're looking into the ESB Toolkit 2.0 (we already have BizTalk Server 2009). We're keen on implementing UDDI (specifically, the UDDI Services v3.0 that ships with BTS 2009), but we're low on actual UDDI experience. We want to manage the ever-burgeoning number of web services we have across all our environments. What are the best practices for implementing UDDI? For example:- Would you implement a single highly-available resilient UDDI server that hosts all services and bindings, including test environment versions? Or would you implement separate UDDI repositories for test and production environments? I'm aware of the Oasis Technical Note v2.0 on WSDL and UDDI, but does anyone actually implement that? I.e. the abstract parts of the WSDL as tModels, the implementation parts of the WSDL as bindings? Would you go to the effort of capturing non-web service endpoints in UDDI, or just use it for WSDL? What are the "gotchas"?

  • Do MSDTC and disaster recovery go together?

    - by DevDelivery
Our application writes to multiple Sql Server databases within a distributed transaction. The Ops guys are saying that this messes up their disaster recovery plan because while the transactions on the live tables may commit at the same time, the log shipping on the separate databases happen at slightly different times. So in in a disaster recovery situation, there will be a few partial transactions. Is there a method for maintaining separate but synced databases in DR? Or do we have to re-design to relatively independent databases (or a single database)?

  • MIPS return address in main

I am confused why in the code below I need to decrement the stack pointer and store the return address again. If I don't do that... then PCSpim keeps on looping.. Why??? I shouldn't have to increment/decrement the stack pointer on vbsme and then do the jr again right? The jal in main is supposed to handle that

  • Add server 2008 to 2003 domain schema upgrade failed

    - by Ken
I'm trying to add a server 2008 r2 server to an existing 2003 domain (upgraded to 2003 functionality). I've followed the steps from microsoft which are clarified by this post: 2003 DC AD upgrade to 2008 on second server migration plan While running adprep /forestprep I lost my connection and wasn't able to resume or remote control that session, so I couldn't see the end result of the command. Rerunning adprep /forestprep indicates that the process has already been completed successfully. After finishing the rest of the steps (/domainprep ... and /gpprep, etc), the 2008 server won't join. The error message is the same "you need to run forestprep first" So the situation I'm in is that I can't rerun /forestprep, but my Registry key still reads schemaVer=30. Should I have staged forest upgrades? Any ideas how to get my schema ver to 44 at this point?

  • C# Working with Locking and Threads

    - by aherrick
    Work on this small test application to learn threading/locking. I have the following code, I would think that the line should only write to console once. However it doesn't seem to be working as expected. Any thoughts on why? What I'm trying to do is add this Lot object to a List, then if any other threads try and hit that list, it would block. Am i completely misusing lock here? class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { int threadCount = 10; //spin up x number of test threads Thread[] threads = new Thread[threadCount]; Work w = new Work(); for (int i = 0; i < threadCount; i++) { threads[i] = new Thread(new ThreadStart(w.DoWork)); } for (int i = 0; i < threadCount; i++) { threads[i].Start(); } // don't let the console close Console.ReadLine(); } } public class Work { List<Lot> lots = new List<Lot>(); private static readonly object thisLock = new object(); public void DoWork() { Lot lot = new Lot() { LotID = 1, LotNumber = "100" }; LockLot(lot); } private void LockLot(Lot lot) { // i would think that "Lot has been added" should only print once? lock (thisLock) { if(!lots.Contains(lot)) { lots.Add(lot); Console.WriteLine("Lot has been added"); } } } }

  • Still about SSD potentials...write and read speed

    - by Macroideal
HI Gurus, I have been working on SSD(solid state disk) for several months..Problems and Questions hit my head unexpectedly..Coz i am a virgin in ssd... Esp these days i was testing the write-read speed of ssd, which I was always caring.... however result turned out not good as I expected, or even worse Three kinds of read-write were implemented in my test 1. read and write directly from and into ssd, with openning ssd as a whole device. in windows: _open("\\:g", ***).. It can be very tricky and hairy that you'd write a data with size of folds of 512, at the disk position of folds of 512bytes... So, If you wanto write just a byte or 4 bytes, you'v to write at least a whole sector one time. 2. Read and write data from and into files located in SSD... 3. Read and Write data from and into files in mechanical Disk I compared the pratices below...I found ssd sucks...the ssd performs worse than mechanical disk... so i am wondering where i can get the potential performance of ssd, since ssd is said to a substitute for mechanical disk in the future.. Nevertheless, I test ssd with a pro-hard-disk tools..ssd is like twice speedier than mechanical disk. So, why? Thanx very much...If you know tips of ssd...follow me

  • bug with varargs and overloading?

    - by pstanton
There seems to be a bug in the Java varargs implementation. Java can't distinguish the appropriate type when a method is overloaded with different types of vararg parameters. It gives me an error The method ... is ambiguous for the type ... Consider the following code: public class Test { public static void main(String[] args) throws Throwable { doit(new int[]{1, 2}); // <- no problem doit(new double[]{1.2, 2.2}); // <- no problem doit(1.2f, 2.2f); // <- no problem doit(1.2d, 2.2d); // <- no problem doit(1, 2); // <- The method doit(double[]) is ambiguous for the type Test } public static void doit(double... ds) { System.out.println("doubles"); } public static void doit(int... is) { System.out.println("ints"); } } the docs say: "Generally speaking, you should not overload a varargs method, or it will be difficult for programmers to figure out which overloading gets called." however they don't mention this error, and it's not the programmers that are finding it difficult, it's the compiler. thoughts?

  • Proxy via Telnet

    - by Vreality2007
I know telnet is insecure and all, but I'm stuck using it because ssh is blocked. I know how to setup ssh to bind the connection to a local port, is there a way to do this with telnet? For example, if I am using an ssh connection, I would bind it to port 999 like this: ssh -D 999 [email protected] -N -C I've tried using the -b command in linux, but to no avail. Is this even possible? This is what I've tried: telnet host.com -b 999 I'm sorry if the answer is obvious, but I've done a lot of research and testing and I can't seem to figure this out. NOTE: I plan on telling the admin if I can find a way to get this to work, this is based off of simple curiosity and not malicious intent. If I can't bind a telnet port, is there a way to tunnel an ssh connection through telnet?

  • jQuery addClass on $.post

    - by Tim
    I am basically trying to create a small registration form. If the username is already taken, I want to add the 'red' class, if not then 'green'. The PHP here works fine, and returns either a "YES" or "NO" to determine whether it's ok. The CSS: input { border:1px solid #ccc; } .red { border:1px solid #c00; } .green { border:1px solid green; background:#afdfaf; } The Javascript I'm using is: $("#username").change(function() { var value = $("#username").val(); if(value!= '') { $.post("check.php", { value: value }, function(data){ $("#test").html(data); if(data=='YES') { $("#username").removeClass('red').addClass('green'); } if(data=='NO') { $("#username").removeClass('green').addClass('red'); } }); } }); I've got the document.ready stuff too... It all works fine because the #test div html changes to either "YES" or "NO", apart from the last part where I check what the value of the data is. Here is the php: $value=$_POST['value']; if ($value!="") { $sql="select * FROM users WHERE username='".$value."'"; $query = mysql_query($sql) or die ("Could not match data because ".mysql_error()); $num_rows = mysql_num_rows($query); if ($num_rows 0) { echo "NO"; } else { echo "YES"; } }

  • How do I add a confirmation popup on a button (GET POST action in MVC)?

    - by user54197
I have a get/post/JSON function on an aspx page. This page adds data entered in a textbox to a table populated by javascript. When the user select the submit button. • Beanshell in Ant yielding, "Unable to create javax script engine for beanshell"

    - by John B.
Greeting, I'm trying to put some Beanshell script in my Ant build.xml file. I've followed the Ant manual as well as I can but I keep getting "Unable to create javax script engine for beanshell" when I run Ant. Here is the test target I wrote mostly from examples in the Ant manual: <target name="test-target"> <script language="beanshell" setbeans="true"> <classpath> <fileset dir="c:\TEMP" includes="*.jar" /> </classpath> System.out.println("Hello world"); </script> </target> My beanshell "bsh-2.0b4.jar" file is on the script task's classpath the way the manual recommended. Hope I have the right file. I'm working in c:\TEMP right now. I've been googling and trying for a while now. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
