I have OS X Server installed. I am using Window Vista on a PC.

I am able to ping the IP.
What should I do?
Hello, my computer (a Dell XPS M1330 - Vista x64) hangs randomly. When it happens I can't run the task manager (or another app), nor the Start menu, and when i try to close an application the title bar shows "Not responding".
In the event viewers, nothing particular, excepts the hard shutdown.
(I apologize in advance for my bad english..)
In XP, to ensure a folder opened in a new window, I held down CTRL when I opened (by mouse or keyboard) the folder.
This action is so ingrained to me, I pretty much don't even realise I'm doing it at a conscious level.
Unfortunately, this action apparently hasn't made it to Vista. Is there a new way to do this, or am I just missing something obvious?
Am using ROXIO
1. to copy DVD file to my computer
2. to trim a section of the video
3. to convert the file to wmv and this is where WindowsVista gives the message that the program cannot continue.
4. I have followed all of the instructions from ROXIO support to clean my system and do a new install.
It still does not work
Anybody know how to resolve the problem?
Hi, at my work computer, a Dell package computer with Vista Business, I turn it on, it shows the Dell boot screen then just hangs forever. Can get into the Bios and boot settings, but other than that, just hangs. What could cause this? No one's been here over the weekend and it was fine on friday.
Thanks.
Vista start menu shows your most frequently used apps, which is great, I love it.
However, there are some apps which I use frequently through shell or such, that I do not want to appear on that menu. Winrar, Media Player Classic, Infranview...
I can right click on it to remove it, but it'll return to the menu shortly, how can I set it so that those apps never appear on the start menu.
Thanks.
I can not access Contol panel in my windowsvista machine.
As soon as i click the "conrol panel" item in start items, it shows up a window and then its closed automatically ( same happens if i use "control" command).
Is there some program or some registry entry thats restricting it? is ther a way to control this behaviour?
I noticed everytime my dell inspiron 1420 wakes up from sleep the screen will flicker a lot. some times violently. I'm not sure what the problem is. I have disabled tmm but it didn't fix the flickers. Does anyone have a solution?
Here's my spec:

I am creating an intranet website on a Vista 32 machine with IIS7. On my machine it works great! However, when other users on our network try to connect to it they get an error saying "Oops! Internet Explorer could not connect to computername". Perhaps this is because the NTFS and/or IIS permissions are not set correctly.
How do I set the permissions to publish a website on the intranet?
Thanks in advance, Dan
I've got a Vista machine, and I just uninstalled a bunch of programs that someone had installed and wasn't supposed to. My supervisor now wants me to send a list of these programs to the people who have used the computer just for safe keeping.
Is there any way I can find the names of the programs I just uninstalled?

I have a PC running Opensuse 11.0 Linux. I currently login using ssh with putty. However this is a command line login. How to do a remote xserver login from windows to run a gnome or kde session. what software should I use?
I have the root password for the Linux PC and admin privileges on vista.
I'm using Office 2007 on WindowsVista and occasionally, when copying from Word to Excel, or text from a website to Word, I will get the hour glass for 10 + seconds and sometimes for about a minute. It should just be simple text and I don't understand why it takes so long.
I have a problem with the calendar gadget in Vista. The starting day is Sunday, but I would like to change it to Monday.
I have checked some forums which points me in the direction that:
Change the Regional Settings in ControlPanel to your local region
Change the register key HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/International/iFirstDayOfWeek to 0
Both of these are already correct, so it didn't help me.. Does anyone else have a suggestions?
I have two PCs (different specs) with the latest WindowsVista and Safari 4 updates installed. In one machine, Safari 4 works great but in the other, it starts up slowly (less than a minute though) with harddisk sound indicating data access activities.
I have cleared all internet caches and I am quite sure that there is no virus in both machines. Are there any other reasons that Safari performances are so different in comparably similar software and hardware environments?
I know how to change my color scheme in Vista. What I despair about is that after I change it, if I switch to another scheme (such as back to Aero), my customized scheme is gone. If I want, I can take another 30 minutes to customize it so it doesn't burn out my eyes. Is there any way to save this scheme? I tried doing the color scheme change, then trying to save the whole thing as a theme, all to no avail.
My WindowsVista Desktop icon are all gone and I cant set them again! Is there any registry key to show them back? I used regsvr32 /u shell32.dll command but still nothing shows? what should I do?
I have WindowsVista on my computer, and it says it has a very good connection to my wireless router, but it doesn't display any webpages in Firefox or IE. It just says "Can't find this page".
Any ideas?
I know that this would be impossible for an ordinary user. But here we are super users. Any trick that can delete a file that is currently in use in Windows?
I went to Disk Management and right-click C drive to shrink.
It started the process and after long time passed, 'Access denied' error came out.
I tried a couple of times, but all are the same result.
Could anyone help me how to partition C drive on Vista please?
Thanks in advance.
According to an article today in the register Microsoft will no longer support Vista from the end of this month.
I have a laptop that is not even a year old using an operating system that will not even have had a year's support.
Is anyone else angry that they are paying for inferior and unsupported products from Microsoft?
My HP d330 does not properly shutdown, after Vista "shutting down" message the lcd screen goes black, but both HD + Power Leds remain on.. Any ideas?
No entries in EventViewer about this.
Keyboard leds no more work after this partial shutdown so I assume hardware is partially shutdown..?
Same problem occurs when I choose Sleep from shutdown menu
