  • Using a .txt file Resource in VB

    - by Tony C
Right now i have a line of code, in vb, that calls a text file, like this: Dim fileReader As String fileReader = My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText("data5.txt") data5.txt is a resource in my application, however the application doesn't run because it can't find data5.txt. I'm pretty sure there is another code for finding a .txt file in the resource that i'm overlooking, but i can't seem to figure it out. So does anyone know of a simple fix for this? or maybe another whole new line of code? Thanks in advance!

  • How to play sound in Python WITHOUT interrupting music/other sounds from playing

    - by Morlock
I'm working on a timer in python which sounds a chime when the waiting time is over. I use the following code: from wave import open as wave_open from ossaudiodev import open as oss_open def _play_chime(): """ Play a sound file once. """ sound_file = wave_open('chime.wav','rb') (nc,sw,fr,nf,comptype, compname) = sound_file.getparams( ) dsp = oss_open('/dev/dsp','w') try: from ossaudiodev import AFMT_S16_NE except ImportError: if byteorder == "little": AFMT_S16_NE = ossaudiodev.AFMT_S16_LE else: AFMT_S16_NE = ossaudiodev.AFMT_S16_BE dsp.setparameters(AFMT_S16_NE, nc, fr) data = sound_file.readframes(nf) sound_file.close() dsp.write(data) dsp.close() It works pretty good, unless any other device is already outputing sound. How could I do basically the same (under linux) without having the prerequisite that no sound is being played? If you think the process would require an API to ensure software mixing, please suggest a method :) Thx for the support

  • Drawing an NSAttributedString into a non-rectangular CGPath?

    - by Adrian Kosmaczewski
I generate a rather complex NSAttributedString in my iOS 3.2 application (iPad), including formatting options of type CTParagraphStyleSetting, in particular with values for kCTParagraphStyleSpecifierMinimumLineHeight and kCTParagraphStyleSpecifierParagraphSpacing. When I try to draw this attributed string into a non-rectangular CGPath, Core Text draws it but without the line spacing defined; that is, all text appears crammed in paragraphs without line spacing. Needless to say, it does not look as pretty as if the CGPath was simply defined using a single call to CGPathAddRect()! Is there any setting I can specify (to my CTFramesetterRef or to the CTFrameRef associated to the culprit CGPath) to avoid losing all line height information? Thanks!

  • Looking for a reporting tool that will allow vector graphics in output file (PDF)

    - by Richard West
I have been tasked with evaluating our current system that we use for creating and outputing reports. Currently we are using Crystal Reports ver 8, (I know that this is and old version.), which has a custom commandline app that we wrote in C# to execute the report for a given parameter passed through the command line. We like Crystal becuase it's easy to setup and design the report. It's also easy to print and create a PDF file from crystal using our custom commandline program. One of the problems/complaints that we have is that Crystal does does not appear to have a method that will allow us to create a PDF file with a vector images, such as our company logo. Crystal Reports always converts an image into a bitmap. When the PDF is printed, the results are less than flattering, and the PDF file size is increased. Does anyone have any recomendadtions for a reporting product that we should consider?

  • How to simulate a fake MouseOver on a Flash applet in a webpage?

    - by Mason Wheeler
I listen to internet radio at http://player.play.it/player/player.htm and it works pretty well, except for one minor issue. The Flash applet that runs the radio player has a timer on it, where if you don't move the mouse over the player every once in a while, it decides you're idle and shuts off the stream, even if you're not actually idle, but just working on something else with the radio player running in the background. Is there any way I can send a fake MouseOver message to this applet to keep it from cutting me off in the middle of a song, maybe with a GreaseMonkey script? I'm using Firefox.

  • Replace text in folder names

    - by dannyb
How can I replace the same text in folder names in linux? Say I have "Photos_Jun", "Photos_July", "Photos_Aug", etc. whats the simplest way I can rename them like "Photos Jun", "Photos July", etc (basically I want to replace the underscore with a space " ". I have about 200 of these folders. I was looking at solution: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1836563/how-can-i-easily-bulk-rename-files-with-perl It looks like what im looking for however, I dont know how to make a regular expression to match folders that are alphanumeric followed by a "_". All files have non-numeric names, so I think [a-zA-Z] is the right way to start. perl -e 'foreach $f (glob("File\\ Name*")) { $nf = $f; $nf =~ s/(\d+)$/sprintf("%03d",$1)/e; print `mv \"$f\" \"$nf\"`;}' Thanks for any help!

  • Convert Chunk of Data into Tabular Format Using Perl

  • Cheetah pre-compiled template usage quesion

    - by leo
For performance reason as suggested here, I am studying how to used the pr-compiled template. I edit hello.tmpl in template directory as #attr title = "This is my Template" \${title} Hello \${who}! then issued cheetah-compile.exe .\hello.tmpl and get the hello.py In another python file runner.py , i have !/usr/bin/env python from Cheetah.Template import Template from template import hello def myMethod(): tmpl = hello.hello(searchList=[{'who' : 'world'}]) results = tmpl.respond() print tmpl if name == 'main': myMethod() But the outcome is ${title} Hello ${who}! Debugging for a while, i found that inside hello.py def respond(self, trans=None): ## CHEETAH: main method generated for this template if (not trans and not self._CHEETAH__isBuffering and not callable(self.transaction)): trans = self.transaction # is None unless self.awake() was called if not trans: trans = DummyTransaction() it looks like the trans is None, so it goes to DummyTransaction, what did I miss here? Any suggestions to how to fix it?

  • adding nodes to a binary search tree randomly deletes nodes

    - by SDLFunTimes
    Hi, stack. I've got a binary tree of type TYPE (TYPE is a typedef of data*) that can add and remove elements. However for some reason certain values added will overwrite previous elements. Here's my code with examples of it inserting without overwriting elements and it not overwriting elements. the data I'm storing: struct data { int number; char *name; }; typedef struct data data; # ifndef TYPE # define TYPE data* # define TYPE_SIZE sizeof(data*) # endif The tree struct: struct Node { TYPE val; struct Node *left; struct Node *rght; }; struct BSTree { struct Node *root; int cnt; }; The comparator for the data. int compare(TYPE left, TYPE right) { int left_len; int right_len; int shortest_string; /* find longest string */ left_len = strlen(left->name); right_len = strlen(right->name); if(right_len < left_len) { shortest_string = right_len; } else { shortest_string = left_len; } /* compare strings */ if(strncmp(left->name, right->name, shortest_string) > 1) { return 1; } else if(strncmp(left->name, right->name, shortest_string) < 1) { return -1; } else { /* strings are equal */ if(left->number > right->number) { return 1; } else if(left->number < right->number) { return -1; } else { return 0; } } } And the add method struct Node* _addNode(struct Node* cur, TYPE val) { if(cur == NULL) { /* no root has been made */ cur = _createNode(val); return cur; } else { int cmp; cmp = compare(cur->val, val); if(cmp == -1) { /* go left */ if(cur->left == NULL) { printf("adding on left node val %d\n", cur->val->number); cur->left = _createNode(val); } else { return _addNode(cur->left, val); } } else if(cmp >= 0) { /* go right */ if(cur->rght == NULL) { printf("adding on right node val %d\n", cur->val->number); cur->rght = _createNode(val); } else { return _addNode(cur->rght, val); } } return cur; } } void addBSTree(struct BSTree *tree, TYPE val) { tree->root = _addNode(tree->root, val); tree->cnt++; } The function to print the tree: void printTree(struct Node *cur) { if (cur == 0) { printf("\n"); } else { printf("("); printTree(cur->left); printf(" %s, %d ", cur->val->name, cur->val->number); printTree(cur->rght); printf(")\n"); } } Here's an example of some data that will overwrite previous elements: struct BSTree myTree; struct data myData1, myData2, myData3; myData1.number = 5; myData1.name = "rooty"; myData2.number = 1; myData2.name = "lefty"; myData3.number = 10; myData3.name = "righty"; initBSTree(&myTree); addBSTree(&myTree, &myData1); addBSTree(&myTree, &myData2); addBSTree(&myTree, &myData3); printTree(myTree.root); Which will print: (( righty, 10 ) lefty, 1 ) Finally here's some test data that will go in the exact same spot as the previous data, but this time no data is overwritten: struct BSTree myTree; struct data myData1, myData2, myData3; myData1.number = 5; myData1.name = "i"; myData2.number = 5; myData2.name = "h"; myData3.number = 5; myData3.name = "j"; initBSTree(&myTree); addBSTree(&myTree, &myData1); addBSTree(&myTree, &myData2); addBSTree(&myTree, &myData3); printTree(myTree.root); Which prints: (( j, 5 ) i, 5 ( h, 5 ) ) Does anyone know what might be going wrong? Sorry if this post was kind of long.

  • Nested queries in Arel

    - by Schrockwell
I am attempting to nest SELECT queries in Arel and/or Active Record in Rails 3 to generate the following SQL statement. SELECT sorted.* FROM (SELECT * FROM points ORDER BY points.timestamp DESC) AS sorted GROUP BY sorted.client_id An alias for the subquery can be created by doing points = Table(:points) sorted = points.order('timestamp DESC').alias but then I'm stuck as how to pass it into the parent query (short of calling #to_sql, which sounds pretty ugly). How do you use a SELECT statement as a sub-query in Arel (or Active Record) to accomplish the above? Maybe there's an altogether different way to accomplish this query that doesn't use nested queries?

  • Showing HTML comment strings (<!-- -->) in HTML files

    - by Andrei
Hello all. I'm building a source code search engine, and I'm returning the results on a HTML page (aspx to be exact, but the view logic is in HTML). When someone searches a string, I also return the whole line of code where this string can be found in a file. However, some lines of code come from HTML/aspx files and these lines contain HTML specific comments (). When I try to print this line on the HTML page, it interprets it as a comment and does not show it on the screen....how should I go about solving this so that it actually shows up? Any help would be welcomed. Thanks. edit: err...i see now that firebug could help me with this: <!-- -->

  • What are good memory management techniques in Flash/as3

    - by Parris
Hello! So I am pretty familiar with memory management in Java, C and C++; however, in flash what constructs are there for memory management? I assume flash has a sort of virtual machine like java, and I have been assuming that things get garbage collected when they are set to null. I am not sure if this is actually the case though. Also is there a way to force garbage collection in Flash? Any other tips? Thanks

  • Diff Algorithm

    - by Daniel Magliola
I've been looking like crazy for an explanation of a diff algorithm that works and is efficient. The closest I got is this link to RFC 3284 (from several Eric Sink blog posts), which describes in perfectly understandable terms the data format in which the diff results are stored. However, it has no mention whatsoever as to how a program would reach these results while doing a diff. I'm trying to research this out of personal curiosity, because I'm sure there must be tradeoffs when implementing a diff algorithm, which are pretty clear sometimes when you look at diffs and wonder "why did the diff program chose this as a change instead of that?"... Does anyone know where I can find a description of an efficient algorithm that'd end up outputting VCDIFF? By the way, if you happen to find a description of the actual algorithm used by SourceGear's DiffMerge, that'd be even better. NOTE: longest common subsequence doesn't seem to be the algorithm used by VCDIFF, it looks like they're doing something smarter, given the data format they use. Thanks!

  • PySide / PyQt QStyledItemDelegate list in table

    - by danodonovan
Dear All, I'm trying to create a table of lists in Python with Qt (PySide/PyQt - matters not) and my lists are squashed into the table cells. Is there a way to get the list delegates to 'pop out' of their cells? I've attached a simple code snippet - replace 'PySide' with 'PyQt4' depending on your preference from PySide import QtCore, QtGui class ListDelegate(QtGui.QStyledItemDelegate): def createEditor(self, parent, option, index): editor = QtGui.QListWidget(parent) for i in range( 12 ): editor.addItem('list item %d' % i) return editor if __name__ == '__main__': import sys app = QtGui.QApplication(sys.argv) model = QtGui.QStandardItemModel(2, 2) tableView = QtGui.QTableView() delegate = ListDelegate() tableView.setItemDelegate(delegate) tableView.setModel(model) for row in range(2): for column in range(2): item = QtGui.QStandardItem( 'None' ) model.setItem(row, column, item) tableView.setWindowTitle('example') tableView.show() sys.exit(app.exec_()) If you hadn't guessed I'm pretty new to this Qt lark Thanks in advance, Dan

  • Dynamics CRM 4.0 Campaign Response Workflow issue

    - by Brett
Hi I am pretty novice when it comes to CRM so hopefully someone can help me. I am trying to create a workflow that triggers when the campaign response is set to closed and then updates a few fields within the related 'Customers' record. I would have imagined that this would have been straight forward. However, when creating my workflow it appears that the 'Customer' is not in the related entitities list and therefore I cannot set the fields I require updating. I imagine that the issue is to do with the 'Customer' attribute being similar to the 'To'/'From' attributes on an email/phone call activity, whereas I need the attribute to resemble the 'Regarding' attribute. I presume I could create an attribute to replace 'customer' and apply all the appropriate relationships, but I dont really want to do this. Is there a simple way to get around this and/or am I missing something? Cheers

  • Python "draw() must be called with Label instance as first argument (got _WindowMetaclass instance i

    - by Amorack
This is a class I made using Python with pyglet to display a window. class Window(pyglet.window.Window): def __init__(self): super(Window, self).__init__() pyglet.text.Label("Prototype") windowText = text.Label.draw(Window, "Hello World", font_name = "Times New Roman", font_size = 36, color = (193, 205, 193, 255)) def on_draw(self): self.clear() self.label.draw() Every time I try to run it I get the error "TypeError: unbound method draw() must be called with Label instance as first argument (got _WindowMetaclass instance instead)". I'm pretty sure I know what I have to do (find how to get Label's instance) just not how to do it. Could someone help me understand how to make this work?

  • Connecting to a SQL Server Compact Edition (.sdf) from an MFC application

    - by Hazerd
Hey ! I'm building an MFC app in Visual Studio 2008 which classifies textures and I need some sort of lightweight database to hold the characteristics (just some doubles and strings) which can be: -carried around with the app on different computers; -be able to perform queries on it from the app (searches , updates ,inserts ,etc); Currently I'm looking into SQL compact edition because it was very easy to create from Visual Studio ( I also need only one table) but I having a hard time connecting and updating the db from C++. This is what I've found on msdn regarding C++ and SQLCE: public: void createSqlCeConnection(){ SqlCeConnection* myConnection = new SqlCeConnection(); myConnection->ConnectionString = "DataSource = blabla.sdf"; MessageBox::Show(String::Format( S"Connection State: {0}", __box(myConnection->State))); } Unfortunately my experience with .net apps is pretty limited. Hopefully you bright minds could tell me if I'm on the right path and what links and includes should I add for this to work with an C++ MFC projects. Thanks !

  • saving the videos and photos in iPhone Simultor 4.0

    - by Mohammed Sadiq
Hi All, From 4.0 apple has extended their api support to access the videos and photos from the phone. I am using only iPhone 4.0 simulator to test my application. When I try to save the video as apple has mentioned in their api docs, its giving the error something like "Error Saving the Asset". The way I try to store the video is as follows : ALAssetsLibraryWriteVideoCompletionBlock _videoCompblock = ^(NSURL *assetURL, NSError *error){ if(assetURL) { NSLog(@"Video AssetUrl : %@", [assetURL absoluteString]); } else if(error) { NSLog(@"The Error occured : %@", [error localizedDescription]); } }; BOOL isSupported = [library deoAtPathIsCompatibleWithSavedPhotosAlbum:videoFileUrl]; if(isSupported) { [library writeVideoAtPathToSavedPhotosAlbum:videoFileUrl completionBlock:_videoCompblock]; } The above methods should print the url of the video on successful saving of the video file. But its printing the error message as "ERROR SAVING THE ASSET". Any idea or help on this topic will be greatly appreciated. Best Regards, Mohammed Sadiq.

  • Recursion problem in C

    - by jake
Hi there. I've been trying to solve this problem for a few days now but it seems I haven't grasped the concept of recursion, yet. I have to build a program in C (recursion is a must here but loops are allowed as well) which does the following: The user inputs 2 different strings. For example: String 1 - ABC String 2 - DE The program is supposed to print strings which are combined of the ones the user has entered. the rule is that the inner order of the letters in each string (1&2) must remain. That's the output for string1=ABC & string2=DE ": abcde abdce abdec adbce adbec adebc dabce dabec daebc deabc If anyone could give me a hand here, it would be great. Thanks guys.

  • Drupal clean urls on custom page GET request.

    - by calebthorne
I have a drupal page (content type page) that should accept GET values using clean urls. I put the following code in the page body using the php code input format. <?php $uid = $_GET['uid']; $user = user_load($uid); print $user->name; ?> Now the following link http://www.example.com/mypath/?uid=5 results in user 5's name being displayed. Great. My question is: Can this be accomplished using clean urls such that going to http://www.example.com/mypath/5 has the same result? (Similar to using arguments in views)

  • Sort ArrayList of custom Objects by property

    - by Samuel
Hello World!! :D I had a question which is pretty easy if you know the answer I guess. I read about sorting ArrayLists using a Comparator but somehow in all of the examples people used compareTo which according to some research is a method working on Strings... I wanted to sort an ArrayList of custom objects by one of their properties: a Date object (getStartDay()). Normally I compare them by item1.getStartDate().before(item2.getStartDate()) so I was wondering whether I could write something like: public class customComparator { public boolean compare(Object object1, Object object2) { return object1.getStartDate().before(object2.getStartDate()); } } public class randomName { ... Collections.sort(Database.arrayList, new customComparator); ... } I just started with Java so please forgive my ignorance :) Thanks in advance!! -Samuel

  • DefaultSchedulerService in ASP.NET application

    - by Samir P
Hi, My project has a requirement to implement look-ahead caching i.e. triggering another request on invokation of a specific request. The following details in short the implementation - HttpModule parses the SOAPRequest and matches entry in a configuration file for look-ahead candidate. If the request matches, it prepares the Parameters dictionary and starts appropriate workflow. Single workflow runtime is used across all requests is ensured through initializing the runtime instance at Application_Start event and stored in Application Dictionary. Using persistence service and DefaultScheduler service. We can't implement windows service model, as current requirement mandates passing the SOAPRequest parameters as arguments. ManualSchedulerService is not in contention due to synchronous nature of it's actual behaviour. Still the performance is pretty bad and product team is not happy. Can anybody suggest me better solution? Thanks, Samir

  • Stochastic calculus library in python

    - by LeMiz
Hello, I am looking for a python library that would allow me to compute stochastic calculus stuff, like the (conditional) expectation of a random process I would define the diffusion. I had a look a at simpy (simpy.sourceforge.net), but it does not seem to cover my needs. This is for quick prototyping and experimentation. In java, I used with some success the (now inactive) http://martingale.berlios.de/Martingale.html library. The problem is not difficult in itself, but there is a lot non trivial, boilerplate things to do (efficient memory use, variable reduction techniques, and so on). Ideally, I would be able to write something like this (just illustrative): def my_diffusion(t, dt, past_values, world, **kwargs): W1, W2 = world.correlated_brownians_pair(correlation=kwargs['rho']) X = past_values[-1] sigma_1 = kwargs['sigma1'] sigma_2 = kwargs['sigma2'] dX = kwargs['mu'] * X * dt + sigma_1 * W1 * X * math.sqrt(dt) + sigma_2 * W2 * X * X * math.sqrt(dt) return X + dX X = RandomProcess(diffusion=my_diffusion, x0 = 1.0) print X.expectancy(T=252, dt = 1./252., N_simul= 50000, world=World(random_generator='sobol'), sigma1 = 0.3, sigma2 = 0.01, rho=-0.1) Does someone knows of something else than reimplementing it in numpy for example ?
