I'm trying to do some cryptography for SQL Server 2000, and I know that only SQL 2005+ comes with built-in functionality for doing this natively.
Do you know any open source implementation that I can use for free of RSA-2048 cryptography?
What is the best way to produce several tables of unknown size on the same worksheet? Values will be pulled from an oracle database and are used as values on several tables. Is it possible to create dynamic named ranges or is some other method desirable? I have some experience with c# but do not have access to VSTO 2005.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I am willing to explain the problem further if requested.
I'm rendering a DropDownList in my Visual Studio 2005 ASP.NET code behind page out to an HtmlTextWriter, but when I try to add the SelectedIndexChanged event that doesn't get rendered.
Any ideas? Is this even possible?
For an instance of SQL Server 2005/2008, how can one determine the date and time when a service pack was applied to the instance? Is there a system table or view that stores that information?
Sql server 2005 (even 2008) strips the insignificant whitespaces by default. To keep one can use the CONVERT funtction with the last argument as '1' (Ref. Article). How can we do the same thing in Entity Framework?
thanks
Hi there,
I'm using Visual Studio 2005 and have a DataTable with two columns and some rows that I want to output to the console. I hoped there would be something like:
DataTable results = MyMethod.GetResults();
Console.WriteLine (results.ToString());
What's the best way (i.e. least amount of coding from me) to convert a simple DataTable to a string?
Thanks,
Mark.
I want to use a standard dialog to solicit user input of an ADO.net connection string. It is trivial to do for the oledb connection string as described here:
MSDN Article on MSDASC.DataLinks().Prompt
I've also found examples that use Microsoft.Data.ConnectionUI.dll and MicrosoftData.ConnectionUI.Dialog.dll from VS (HOWTO: Using the Choose Data Source dialog of Visual Studio 2005 from your own code).
Unfortunately these DLLs are not licensed for redistribution.
Is there a standard dialog for choosing a data source that can be distributed with my application?
Transactional Replication on SQL Server 2005 Enterprise x64 (SP3).
I need to add check constraints to a databases that is the target for a replication, but I cannot add the check constraints to the publishing database. The Problem is that the replication process keeps removing my constraints. How do I prevent this?
How to format a date in sql sevrer with format dd-mm-yyyy to some other format without using convert function.

A friend of mine came to me with this strange behavior which i can't explain, any insight view would be appreciated.
Im running VS 2005 (C# 2.0), the following code show the behavior
int rr = "test".IndexOf("");
Console.WriteLine(rr.ToString());
the above code, print "0" which clearly show it should have return -1
This also happen in Java where the following Class show the behavior:
public class Test{
public static void main(String[] args){
System.out.println("Result->"+("test".indexOf("")));
}
}
Im running Java 1.6.0_17
In my asp.net 2005 app, I would like conceal the app structure from the user. Currently, the end user can learn intimate details of my web app as they navigate and watch the url change. I don't want the end user to know about my application structure. I would like the browser url to not change if possible. Please advise.
thanks

Hi, I have a simple application in C# (Visual Studio 2005) that display a Crystal Reports report (Crystal Reports X1 R2). When I compiled the application it appears the following message: The report you requested requires further information. I want to set the connection info in the code so the application doesn't ask the user for the database password. It's a Oracle database.
I have the following XML file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

I need to write a XML path that returns a book published after 2003, category is children and I just need to display the author and title of the book? What is frustrating is that I have everything in the XPATH that wrote except I am missing the author.

I am using vb.net 2005. i am trying to set report groupings of a crystal report at runtime based on user defined options. MSDN says this:
Dim FieldDef As FieldDefinition
FieldDef =
Report.Database.Tables.Item(0).Fields.Item(comboBox1().Text)
Report.DataDefinition.Groups.Item(0).ConditionField = FieldDef
but error shows invalid group number
how to solve this?
I need a recommendation of a free tool (even for a trial) for detecting memory leaks in C++ under Windows (Visual Studio 2005).
I've looked in the net, but I would prefer a recommendation.

Conside the following code:
int main()
{
signed char a = 10;
a += a; // Line 5
a = a + a;
return 0;
}
I am getting this warning at Line 5:
d:\codes\operator cast\operator
cast\test.cpp(5) : warning C4244: '+='
: conversion from 'int' to 'signed
char', possible loss of data
Does this mean that += operator makes an implicit cast of the right hand operator to int?
P.S: I am using Visual studio 2005
Hi ,
my doubt is the following, I have a network with 5 pcs, each machine has XP installed, I don't know much about distributed desktop applications, so what i want is to create a C# application using sql server 2005 database and visual studio 2008. I want that each pc can have access to create/update/delete data on the one XP machine that will store the database files. Do i need WServer2003 or any special network technology??
thanks in advance
I'm writing a service in C# on Windows which should be triggert by an PHP driven web frontend, which runs on Linux.
Both processes share the same SQL Server 2005 database.
There is no messaging middleware available atm.
The PHP process inserts an row in a SQL Server table. The Windows process should read this entry and process it.
I have no experience in PHP, so what would you suggest to notify the Windows process?
I seem to remember seeing some neat way of calling InvokeRequired and Invoke to avoid repeating too much code in every event handler but I can't remember what that was.
So does anyone know a neat way of writing that code?
Preferably for VB.Net 2005.
I had this script which worked in sql server 2005
-- t-sql scriptlet to drop all constraints on a table
DECLARE @database nvarchar(50)
DECLARE @table nvarchar(50)
set @database = 'dotnetnuke'
set @table = 'tabs'
DECLARE @sql nvarchar(255)
WHILE EXISTS(select * from INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLE_CONSTRAINTS where constraint_catalog = @database and table_name = @table)
BEGIN
select @sql = 'ALTER TABLE ' + @table + ' DROP CONSTRAINT ' + CONSTRAINT_NAME
from INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLE_CONSTRAINTS
where constraint_catalog = @database and
table_name = @table
exec sp_executesql @sql
END
It does not work in SQL Server 2008. How can I easily drop all foreign key constraints for a certain table? Does anyone have a better script?
