  • Problems with mod_Rewrite

    - by Giorgi
Hello, Originally I had following .htaccess file: php_value display_errors 1 php_value error_reporting 7 AddDefaultCharset utf-8 Options -Indexes <Files ~ ".*\.(info|tpl)$"> Order allow, deny Deny from all </Files> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L,QSA] Which triggered 500 internal server error, so I moved first two lines to the php.ini file. after that, error disappeared, but redirect is not working, it simply redirects to the empty page, error log shows: file not found also, another log shows: PHP Warning: Unknown: open_basedir restriction in effect. File() is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp/:/usr/local/:/usr/bin) in Unknown on line 0 I tried to write in RewriteLog which triggered 500 server error again A little help? Thank you in advance P.S. cPanel 11.24.5-STABLE (Build: 38506) Apache version 2.2.15 (Unix) MySQL version 5.0.85-community PHP version 5.2.9 Operating system Linux Apache/2.2.15 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.15 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_fcgid/2.3.5

  • How to create a web framework in C# without ASPX?

    - by Mark
I've managed to get a C# asp page running under ubuntu/apache/mono, but I don't want to write my framework in these ASP pages, I want to use straight C# and then I'll use a templating language for my views. But I don't know where to begin? C# is a compiled language, so... how would I do this? Would I compile everything and then have apache hook into the (single) executable and pass in the the request URL? Could I request specific .cs pages and then have apache tell it to compile and then "display" it only if it's been updated? Can the "view" files be compiled individually to avoid having to recompile everything every time there's a change? Is there some "base" I can work from, or am I going to have to reinvent accessing GET and POST variables (by reading header info) and all sorts of other stuff we take for granted in languages like PHP?

  • Tips on upgrading CVS to git/hg?

    - by meder
We still use CVS, I use git and hg for my personal use though I'm still a novice at both, but I realize they're much more modern and better, faster, distributed, etc. It's just everyone is so accustomed to CVS that I feel a whole slew of issues could arise if I were to be the one that recommended and actually did the upgrading/porting/transitioning of our current CVS server to git or hg. Has anyone actually done this, recently? Could you offer any insight or tips in terms of influencing people to use git/hg, and just generic tips on the actual updating/transitioning if it were to take place? Are there common issues I should be aware of just in general?

  • Async actions inside Silverlight Method - returning the value

    - by tyndall
What is the proper way to call an Async framework component - wait for an answer and then return the value. AKA contain the entire request/response in a single method. Example code: public class Experiment { public Experiment() { } public string GetSomeString() { WebClient wc = new WebClient(); wc.DownloadStringCompleted += new DownloadStringCompletedEventHandler(wc_DownloadStringCompleted); Uri u = new Uri("http://news.google.com/news?pz=1&cf=all&ned=us&hl=en&topic=t&output=rss"); wc.DownloadStringAsync(u); return "the news RSS from Google"; } private void wc_DownloadStringCompleted(object sender, DownloadStringCompletedEventArgs e) { //don't really see how this callback method makes it able // to return the answer I'm looking for on the return // statement in the method above. } } MORE INFO: The reason I'm asking this that I have a project I'm working on where I'd like JavaScript code in the browser to use Silverlight like a Facade/Proxy to Web services and complex calculations & operations. I'd like to make the calls to the [ScriptableMembers] in Silvelight synchronously. I don't want Silverlight to callback into the browser's JavaScript

  • What's your hobby website; do you maintain it for your users or yourself?

    - by Glennular
What is your hobby website? Do you care if it has high traffic or is it more for personal satisfaction? When deciding on the features to implement are you taking in to consideration the needs of general user-base or features you really want to build? What balance do you use to keep yourself satisfied as well as your users? When do you feel your site is able to release to the world? Do you release it initially and hope for anticipatory beta group? or wait till you have a solid built set of features?

  • PHP SimpleXML - Remove xpath node

    - by Peter John
Hi, I'm a little confused as to how i can delete a parent node of something which i can find via an xpath search: $xml = simplexml_load_file($filename); $data = $xml->xpath('//items/info[item_id="' . $item_id . '"]'); $parent = $data[0]->xpath("parent::*"); unset($parent); So, it finds the item id, no problems there - but the unset isnt getting rid of this <items> node. All i want to do is remove the <items>...</items> for this product. Obviously, there are loads of <items> nodes in the xml file so it cant do unset($xml->data->items) as that would delete everything. Any ideas much appreciated :-)

  • How to hook Pivotal Tracker to Redmine?

    - by cloneofsnake
Our company is currently using Redmine, it's great for general tasks / troubleshooting (operation) but for development, I would like to adopt a more agile tool... and I found it in pivotaltracker. I googled but couldn't find any info., so that gave me a good excuse to try StackOverflow. Has anyone done it? I'm thinking of using PivotalTracker as the main tool, and all activities will be posted back to redmine for archiving and reporting. (Redmine isn't particularly strong at that either, but it does have a budget plugin and I can query the database directly for my custom reports.) Thanks.

  • IIS6: PHP Sessions

    - by Alerty
I have installed PHP to work with IIS6 (with FastCGI). I am capable of viewing a sample test website that shows the PHP info with the following code: <?php phpinfo(); ?> Now that this works I tried to migrate my PHP website to IIS6 and here is a list of the errors/warnings I got: PHP Warning: session_start(): open(C:\WINDOWS\Temp\sess_rjbv0ialf7uf03to69q1e4l101, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in C:\Site\index.php on line 11 PHP Warning: Unknown: open(C:\WINDOWS\Temp\sess_rjbv0ialf7uf03to69q1e4l101, O_RDWR) failed: Permission denied (13) in Unknown on line 0 PHP Warning: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (C:\WINDOWS\Temp) in Unknown on line 0 After seeing this, I corrected the php.ini file to set correctly the session date value: session.save_path="C:\WINDOWS\Temp" Yet doing so has done nothing! How can I make it work?

  • Ideas for web development practical jokes?

    - by Ellie P.
I am a web developer for a Django-based site for a student organization, and I have the opportunity to make the website temporarily absurd for a day of general campus-wide debauchery and chaos (long story, doesn't matter.) What are your best ideas for web development practical jokes (that you could never use in the real world)? For example, one idea we had was to use a client-side script to convert each character to its upside down equivalent in Unicode, si?? ??i? ?ui????os. I'm not necessarily looking for Django-specific solutions. I imagine most of these things would happen on the front-end. I am also quite aware that usability will suffer considerably--the point is to be fun for a day, and there will always be a link to the normal version of the site. Also, everything must be relatively cosmetic and easily reversible--I'm happy to swap out static CSS/JS/HTML/templates/images, and even temporarily add a django view, but no messing with the data level!

  • Linux, static lib referring to other static lib within an executable

    - by andras
Hello, I am creating an application, which consists of two static libs and an executable. Let's call the two static libs: libusefulclass.a libcore.a And the application: myapp libcore instantiates and uses the class defined in libusefulclass (let's call it UsefulClass) Now, if I link the application in the following way: g++ -m64 -Wl,-rpath,/usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.5.4/lib -o myapp src1.o src2.o srcN.o -lusefulclass -lcore The linker complains about the methods in libusefulclass not being found: undefined reference to `UsefulClass::foo()' etc. I found a workaround for this: If UsefulClass is also instantiated within the source files of the executable itself, the application is linked without any problems. My question is: is there a more clean way to make libcore refer to methods defined in libusefulclass, or static libs just cannot be linked against eachother? TIA P.S.: In case that matters: the application is being developed in C++ using Qt, but I feel this is not a Qt problem, but a library problem in general.

  • Is there a suggested solution structure for ASP.NET MVC Production Apps

    - by Eoin Campbell
In general, I don't like to keep code (BaseClasses or DataAccess Code) in the App_Code directory of an ASP.NET Site. I'll usually pull this stuff out into a MySite.BusinessLogic & MySite.DataAccess DLL's respectively. I'm wondering should I be doing the same for ASP.NET MVC. Would it be better to Organise the solution something along the lines of MySite.Common - DLL - (Basic Functionality built on .NET System Dlls) MySite.DAL - DLL - (DataAccessLayer & DBML Files) MySite.Models - DLL - (MVC Models e.g. Repository Classes) MySite.Controllers - DLL (MVC Controllers which use Models) MySite - ASP.NET MVC Site. Or am I missing something... presumably, I'll lose some of the nice (Add View, Go To Controller, context menu items that have been added)

  • SSL Form Post in ASP.NET MVC 1.0

    - by goombaloon
I'd like to use SSL for the post action on the login page of my MVC 1.0 app. I've seen some articles related to the [RequireSSL] attribute in ASP.NET MVC Futures. However, since this works using a redirect, I assume it's not an option (can't redirect a POST, correct?). Ultimately, my goal is to get the Html.BeginForm method to render "https://..." as the form's action so that I can secure the information being posted (login info). How have others handled this?

  • Hooks...exactly what they are

    - by Ygam
I have seen hooks in Kohana PHP framework, and they work as some sort of a callback function triggered by a certain event (Kohana's events that is, some sort of method overloading). I have seen hooks in Wordpress, and I don't know what they are or how to use them (just saw them yesterday). I'm looking for events in "non-frameworked" php, I cannot find ones. Do hooks work only in an "event-based" environment? What are they anyway (in general, not just in PHP)? What are they good for if not in an "event-based" environment.

  • Graphviz DOT arrange Nodes in circles, layout too "compact"

    - by Ivo Wetzel
I'm halfway there please see the edit OK here's my problem, I'm generating a graph of a python module, including all the files with their functions/methods/classes. I want to arrange it so, that nodes gather in circles around their parent nodes, currently everything is on one gargantuan horizontal row, which makes the thing 50k pixels wide and also let's the svg converter fail(only renders about the half of the graph). I went trough the docs(http://www.graphviz.org/doc/info/attrs.html) but couldn't find anything that seems to do the trick. So the question is: Is there a simple way to do this or do I have to layout the whole thing by myself? :/ EDIT: Thanks to Andrews comment I've got the right layout, the only problem now is that it's a bit to "compact"... so the question now is, how to fix this?

  • convert integer to a string in a given numeric base in python

    - by Mark Borgerding
Python allows easy creation of an integer from a string of a given base via int(str, base). I want to perform the inverse: creation of a string from an integer. i.e. I want some function int2base(num,base) such that: int( int2base( X , BASE ) , BASE ) == X the function name/argument order is unimportant For any number X and base BASE that int() will accept. This is an easy function to write -- in fact easier than describing it in this question -- however, I feel like I must be missing something. I know about the functions bin, oct, hex; but I cannot use them for a few reasons: Those functions are not available on older versions of python with which I need compatibility (2.2) I want a general solution that can be called the same way for different bases I want to allow bases other than 2,8,16 Related Python elegant inverse function of int(string, base) Interger to base-x system using recursion in python Base 62 conversion in Python How to convert an integer to the shortest url-safe string in Python?

  • Reorganizing many to many relationships in Django

    - by Galen
I have a many to many relationship in my models and i'm trying to reorganize it on one of my pages. My site has videos. On each video's page i'm trying to list the actors that are in that video with links to each time they are in the video(the links will skip to that part of the video) Here's an illustration Flash Video embedded here Actors... Ted smith: 1:25, 5:30 jon jones: 5:00, 2:00 Here are the pertinent parts of my models class Video(models.Model): actor = models.ManyToManyField( Actor, through='Actor_Video' ) # more stuff removed class Actor_Video(models.Model): actor = models.ForeignKey( Actor ) video = models.ForeignKey( Video) time = models.IntegerField() Here's what my Actor_Video table looks like, maybe it will be easier to see what im doing id actor_id video_id time (in seconds) 1 1 3 34 2 1 3 90 i feel like i have to reorganize the info in my view, but i cant figure it out. It doesn't seem to be possible in the template using djangos orm. I've tried a couple things with creating dictionaries/lists but i've had no luck. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Optimize SQL databases by adding index columns

    - by Viktor Sehr
This might be implementation specific so the question regards how SQL databases is generally implemented. Say I have a database looking like this; Product with columns [ProductName] [Price] [Misc] [Etc] Order with columns [OrderID] [ProductName] [Quantity] [Misc] [Etc] ProductName is primary key of Product, of some string type and unique. OrderID is primary key and of some integer type, and ProductName being a foreign key. Say I change the primary key of Product to a new column of integer type ie [ProductID] Would this reduce the database size and optimize lookups joining these two tables (and likewise operations), or are these optimizations performed automatically by (most/general/main) SQL database implementations?

  • Tutorial for Quick Look Generator for Mac

    - by vgm64
I've checked out Apple's Quick Look Programming Guide: Introduction to Quick Look page in the Mac Dev Center, but as a more of a science programmer rather than an Apple programmer, it is a little over my head (but I could get through it in a weekend if I bash my head against it long enough). Does anyone know of a good basic Quick Look Generators tutorial that is simple enough for someone with only very modest experience with Xcode? For those that are curious, I have a filetype called .evt that has an xml header and then binary info after the header. I'm trying to write a generator to display the xml header. There's no application bundle that it belongs to. Thanks!

  • Tutorials for .NET database app

    - by ChrisC
My earlier question and comments are at "What is ADO.NET". This shows my level of knowledge about c# database apps. Can someone point me to tutorials and/or primers that can help me proceed from where I am (also stated in other question)? I've looked and all I've found are tutorials that talk about general db basics (ie, not helping with VS/C#), or talk about connecting to existing SQL db's. I need help setting one up and configuring it, as well as help on how to create and use queries to test the db schema.

  • How to overcome drawbacks and enjoy the job of a software tester?

    - by mgj
Dear all, One notion that has been prevalent mostly as rumours for many aspiring programmers is that the testing phase of the SDLC(Software Development Life Cycle) is not that challenging and interesting as one's job as a tester after a period of time becomes monotonous because a person does the same thing repeatedly over and over again. Boredom is a very important issue a software tester has to deal with. With regard to this I have the following questions: How can one overcome this in their day to day activities of their job as a software tester? What are the possible new avenues a tester can explore on a general note in a s/w co. ? Could you also please highlight what challenge's a tester could also face in real life situations.Something that would make their job also interesting and fun-filled. Thanks..:)
