• Why does sending post data with WebRequest take so long?

    - by Paramiliar
    I am currently creating a C# application to tie into a php / MySQL online system. The application needs to send post data to scripts and get the response. When I send the following data username=test&password=test I get the following responses... Starting request at 22/04/2010 12:15:42 Finished creating request : took 00:00:00.0570057 Transmitting data at 22/04/2010 12:15:42 Transmitted the data : took 00:00:06.9316931 <<-- Getting the response at 22/04/2010 12:15:49 Getting response 00:00:00.0360036 Finished response 00:00:00.0360036 Entire call took 00:00:07.0247024 As you can see it is taking 6 seconds to actually send the data to the script, I have done further testing bye sending data from telnet and by sending post data from a local file to the url and they dont even take a second so this is not a problem with the hosted script on the site. Why is it taking 6 seconds to transmit the data when it is two simple strings? I use a custom class to send the data class httppostdata { WebRequest request; WebResponse response; public string senddata(string url, string postdata) { var start = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Starting request at " + start.ToString()); // create the request to the url passed in the paramaters request = (WebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); // set the method to post request.Method = "POST"; // set the content type and the content length request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; request.ContentLength = postdata.Length; // convert the post data into a byte array byte[] byteData = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(postdata); var end1 = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Finished creating request : took " + (end1 - start)); var start2 = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Transmitting data at " + start2.ToString()); // get the request stream and write the data to it Stream dataStream = request.GetRequestStream(); dataStream.Write(byteData, 0, byteData.Length); dataStream.Close(); var end2 = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Transmitted the data : took " + (end2 - start2)); // get the response var start3 = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Getting the response at " + start3.ToString()); response = request.GetResponse(); //Console.WriteLine(((WebResponse)response).StatusDescription); dataStream = response.GetResponseStream(); StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(dataStream); var end3 = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Getting response " + (end3 - start3)); // read the response string serverresponse = reader.ReadToEnd(); var end3a = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Finished response " + (end3a - start3)); Console.WriteLine("Entire call took " + (end3a - start)); //Console.WriteLine(serverresponse); reader.Close(); dataStream.Close(); response.Close(); return serverresponse; } } And to call it I use private void btnLogin_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { // string postdata; if (txtUsername.Text.Length < 3 || txtPassword.Text.Length < 3) { MessageBox.Show("Missing your username or password."); } else { string postdata = "username=" + txtUsername.Text + "&password=" + txtPassword.Text; httppostdata myPost = new httppostdata(); string response = myPost.senddata("http://www.domainname.com/scriptname.php", postdata); MessageBox.Show(response); } }

  • Is it possible to create the following XML using Xdocument and append the relevant protion in subseq

    - by Newbie
     <StockMarket> <StockDate Day = "02" Month="06" Year="2010"> <Stock> <Symbol>ABC</Symbol> <Amount>110.45</Amount> </Stock> <Stock> <Symbol>XYZ</Symbol> <Amount>366.25</Amount> </Stock> </StockDate> <StockDate Day = "03" Month="06" Year="2010"> <Stock> <Symbol>ABC</Symbol> <Amount>110.35</Amount> </Stock> <Stock> <Symbol>XYZ</Symbol> <Amount>369.70</Amount> </Stock> </StockDate> </StockMarket> My approach so far is XDocument doc = new XDocument( new XElement("StockMarket", new XElement("StockDate", new XAttribute("Day", "02"),new XAttribute("Month","06"),new XAttribute("Year","2010")), new XElement("Stock", new XElement("Symbol", "ABC"), new XElement("Amount", "110.45")) ) ); Since I am new to Linq to XML, I am presently struggling a lot and henceforth seeking for help. What I need is to generate the above XML programatically(I mean to say that some kind of looping...) The values will be passed from textbox and hence will be filled at runtime. At present the one which I have done is a kind of static one. This entire stuff has to be done at runtime. One more problem that I am facing is at the time of saving the record for the second time. Suppose first time I executed the code and saved it(Using the program I have done). Next time when I will try to save then only <StockDate Day = "xx" Month="xx" Year="xxxx"> <Stock> <Symbol>ABC</Symbol> <Amount>110.45</Amount> </Stock> <Stock> <Symbol>XYZ</Symbol> <Amount>366.25</Amount> </Stock> </StockDate> should get save(or better appended) and not <StockMarket> .... </StockMarket>.. Because that will be created only at the first time when the XML will be generated or created. I hope I am able to convey my problem properly. If you people is having difficulty in understanding my situation, kindly let me know. Using C#3.0 . Thanks

  • What is the recommended way of parsing an XML feed with multiple namespaces with ActionScript 3.0?

    - by dafko
    I have seen the following methods to be used in several online examples, but haven't found any documentation on the recommended way of parsing an XML feed. Method 1: protected function xmlResponseHandler(event:ResultEvent):void { var atom:Namespace = new Namespace("http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom"); var microsoftData:Namespace = new Namespace("http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2007/08/dataservices"); var microsoftMetadata:Namespace = new Namespace("http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2007/08/dataservices/metadata"); var ac:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); var keyValuePairs:KeyValuePair; var propertyList:XMLList = (event.result as XML)..atom::entry.atom::content.microsoftMetadata::properties; for each (var properties:XML in propertyList) { keyValuePairs = new KeyValuePair(properties.microsoftData::FieldLocation, properties.microsoftData::Locationid); ac.addItem(keyValuePairs); } cb.dataProvider = ac; } Method 2: protected function xmlResponseHandler(event:ResultEvent):void { namespace atom = "http://www.w3.org/2005/Atom"; namespace d = "http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2007/08/dataservices"; namespace m = "http://schemas.microsoft.com/ado/2007/08/dataservices/metadata"; use namespace d; use namespace m; use namespace atom; var ac:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); var keyValuePairs:KeyValuePair; var propertyList:XMLList = (event.result as XML)..entry.content.properties; for each (var properties:XML in propertyList) { keyValuePairs = new KeyValuePair(properties.FieldLocation, properties.Locationid); ac.addItem(keyValuePairs); } cb.dataProvider = ac; } Sample XML feed:

Test_Locations

<m:properties> <d:FieldLocation>Test Location</d:FieldLocation> <d:Locationid>test0129</d:Locationid> </m:properties>

<m:properties> <d:FieldLocation>Yet Another Test Location</d:FieldLocation> <d:Locationid>test25</d:Locationid> </m:properties>

  • Need help with regex parsing (in perl)

    - by Charlie
    Hi all, need some help parsing an html file in perl. I used the LWP module to retrieve a webpage into $_ with $/ undefined so there are no newline issues. Then I'm trying to find all strings matching a pattern. How do I do that? I know how to find 1 instance of it, but how do I match all instances? and what data structure would the results go to? a multi dimensional array? my text (excerpt) looks like the following:

Title 1

Jun 27 2010 3:00PM

Title 2

Jun 29 2010 7:00PM

Title 3

Jul 3 2010 7:00PM

I want to get the following into an array (or any structure): { ["/program.cgi?pdi=1233", "Title 1"], ["/program.cgi?pdi=1234", "Title 2"], ["/program.cgi?pdi=1235", "Title 3"] } Thanks

  • .NET: Can I use DataContractJsonSerializer to serialize to a JSON associative array?

    - by Cheeso
    When using DataContractJsonSerializer to serialize a dictionary, like so: [CollectionDataContract] public class Clazz : Dictionary<String,String> {} .... var c1 = new Clazz(); c1["Red"] = "Rosso"; c1["Blue"] = "Blu"; c1["Green"] = "Verde"; Serializing c1 with this code: var dcjs = new DataContractJsonSerializer(c1.GetType()); var json = new Func<String>(() => { using (var ms = new System.IO.MemoryStream()) { dcjs.WriteObject(ms, c1); return Encoding.ASCII.GetString(ms.ToArray()); } })(); ...produces this JSON: [{"Key":"Red","Value":"Rosso"}, {"Key":"Blue","Value":"Blu"}, {"Key":"Green","Value":"Verde"}] But, this isn't a Javascript associative array. If I do the corresponding thing in javascript: produce a dictionary and then serialize it, like so: var a = {}; a["Red"] = "Rosso"; a["Blue"] = "Blu"; a["Green"] = "Verde"; // use utility class from http://www.JSON.org/json2.js var json = JSON.stringify(a); The result is: {"Red":"Rosso","Blue":"Blu","Green":"Verde"} How can I get DCJS to produce or consume a serialized string for a dictionary, that is compatible with JSON2.js ? I know about JavaScriptSerializer from ASP.NET. Not sure if it's very WCF friendly. Does it respect DataMember, DataContract attributes?

  • C# code to GZip and upload a string to Amazon S3

    - by BigJoe714
    Hello. I currently use the following code to retrieve and decompress string data from Amazon C#: GetObjectRequest getObjectRequest = new GetObjectRequest().WithBucketName(bucketName).WithKey(key); using (S3Response getObjectResponse = client.GetObject(getObjectRequest)) { using (Stream s = getObjectResponse.ResponseStream) { using (GZipStream gzipStream = new GZipStream(s, CompressionMode.Decompress)) { StreamReader Reader = new StreamReader(gzipStream, Encoding.Default); string Html = Reader.ReadToEnd(); parseFile(Html); } } } I want to reverse this code so that I can compress and upload string data to S3 without being written to disk. I tried the following, but I am getting an Exception: using (AmazonS3 client = Amazon.AWSClientFactory.CreateAmazonS3Client(AWSAccessKeyID, AWSSecretAccessKeyID)) { string awsPath = AWSS3PrefixPath + "/" + keyName+ ".htm.gz"; byte[] buffer = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(content); using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream()) { using (GZipStream zip = new GZipStream(ms, CompressionMode.Compress)) { zip.Write(buffer, 0, buffer.Length); PutObjectRequest request = new PutObjectRequest(); request.InputStream = ms; request.Key = awsPath; request.BucketName = AWSS3BuckenName; using (S3Response putResponse = client.PutObject(request)) { //process response } } } } The exception I am getting is: Cannot access a closed Stream. What am I doing wrong?

  • A list of Entity Framework providers for various databases

    - by Robert Koritnik
    Which providers are there and your experience using them I would like to know about all possible native .net Framework Entity Framework providers that are out there as well as their limitations compared to the default Linq2Entities (from MS for MS SQL). If there are more for the same database even better. Tell me and I'll be updating this post with this list. Feel free to add additional providers directly into this post or provide an answer and others (including me) will add it to the list. Entity Framework 1 Microsoft SQL Server Standard/Enterprise/Express Linq 2 Entities - Microsoft SQL Server connector DataDirect ADO.NET Data Providers Microsoft SQL Server CE (Compact Edition) Any provider? MySQL MySQL Connector (since version 6.0) - I've read about issues when using Skip(), Take() and Sort() in the same expression tree - everyone welcome to input their experience/knowledge regarding this. (NOTE: MySQL Connector/NET Visual Studio Integration is not supported in the Express Editions of Visual Studio, meaning you won't be able to view MySQL databases in the Database explorer window or add a MySQL data source via Visual Studio wizard dialog boxes. Some users may find that this limits their ability to use Entity Framework and MySQL within Visual Studio Express). • VBS Runtime error code 800A01B6

    - by salvationishere
    I am a newbie to VBS scripting. I am getting above error on line 54, character 5 in script below. This error says "Object doesn't support this property or method: 'MimeMapArray'". And line it is referring to is: MimeMapArray(i) = CreateObject("MimeMap") Can u tell me what I am doing wrong? Here is the script in its entirety. Note, I am trying to run this on an XP OS by double-clicking this VBS file. ' This script adds the necessary Windows Presentation Foundation MIME types ' to an IIS Server. ' To use this script, just double-click or execute it from a command line. ' Running this script multiple times results in multiple entries in the IIS MimeMap. ' Set the MIME types to be added Dim MimeMapObj Dim MimeMapArray Dim WshShell Dim oExec Const ADS_PROPERTY_UPDATE = 2 Dim MimeTypesToAddArray MimeTypesToAddArray = Array(".manifest", "application/manifest", ".xaml", _ "application/xaml+xml", ".application", "application/x-ms-application", _ ".deploy", "application/octet-stream", ".xbap", "application/x-ms-xbap", _ ".xps", "application/vnd.ms-xpsdocument") ' Get the mimemap object Set MimeMapObj = GetObject("IIS://LocalHost/MimeMap") ' Call AddMimeType for every pair of extension/MIME type For counter = 0 to UBound(MimeTypesToAddArray) Step 2 AddMimeType MimeTypesToAddArray(counter), MimeTypesToAddArray(counter+1) Next ' Create a Shell object Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") ' Stop and Start the IIS Service Set oExec = WshShell.Exec("net stop w3svc") Do While oExec.Status = 0 WScript.Sleep 100 Loop Set oExec = WshShell.Exec("net start w3svc") Do While oExec.Status = 0 WScript.Sleep 100 Loop Set oExec = Nothing ' Report status to user WScript.Echo "Windows Presentation Foundation MIME types have been registered." • Linq, Left Join and Dates...

    - by BitFiddler
    So my situation is that I have a linq-to-sql model that does not allow dates to be null in one of my tables. This is intended, because the database does not allow nulls in that field. My problem, is that when I try to write a Linq query with this model, I cannot do a left join with that table anymore because the date is not a 'nullable' field and so I can't compare it to "Nothing". Example: There is a Movie table, {ID,MovieTitle}, and a Showings table, {ID,MovieID,ShowingTime,Location} Now I am trying to write a statement that will return all those movies that have no showings. In T.SQL this would look like: Select m.* From Movies m Left Join Showings s On m.ID = s.MovieID Where s.ShowingTime is Null Now in this situation I could test for Null on the 'Location' field but this is not what I have in reality (just a simplified example). All I have are non-null dates. I am trying to write in Linq: From m In dbContext.Movies _ Group Join s In Showings on m.ID Equals s.MovieID into MovieShowings = Group _ From ms In MovieShowings.DefaultIfEmpty _ Where ms.ShowingTime is Nothing _ Select ms However I am getting an error saying 'Is' operator does not accept operands of type 'Date'. Operands must be reference or nullable types. Is there any way around this? The model is correct, there should never be a null in the Showings:ShowTime table. But if you do a left join, and there are no show times for a particular movie, then ShowTime SHOULD be Nothing for that movie... Thanks everyone for your help.

  • Binary stream 'NN' does not contain a valid BinaryHeader. Possible causes are invalid stream or obje

    - by FinancialRadDeveloper
    I am passing user defined classes over sockets. The SendObject code is below. It works on my local machine, but when I publish to the WebServer which is then communicating with the App Server on my own machine it fails. public bool SendObject(Object obj, ref string sErrMsg) { try { MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); BinaryFormatter bf1 = new BinaryFormatter(); bf1.Serialize(ms, obj); byte[] byArr = ms.ToArray(); int len = byArr.Length; m_socClient.Send(byArr); return true; } catch (Exception e) { sErrMsg = "SendObject Error: " + e.Message; return false; } } I can do this fine if it is one class in my tools project and the other class about UserData just doesn't want to know. Frustrating! Ohh. I think its because the UserData class has a DataSet inside it. Funnily enough I have seen this work, but then after 1 request it goes loopy and I can't get it to work again. Anyone know why this might be? I have looked at comparing the dlls to make sure they are the same on the WebServer and on my local machine and they look to be so as I have turned on versioning in the AssemblyInfo.cs to double check. Edit: Ok it seems that the problem is with size. If I keep it under 1024 byes ( I am guessing here) it works on the web server and doesnt if it has a DataSet inside it.k In fact this is so puzzling I converted the DataSet to a string using ds.GetXml() and this also causes it to blow up. :( So it seems that across the network something with my sockets is wrong and doesn't want to read in the data. JonSkeet where are you. ha ha. I would offer Rep but I don't have any. Grr

  • Displaying ppt, doc, and xls in UIWebView doesn't work but pdf does

    - by slugolicious
    It looks like a few people on stackoverflow get this to work but their code isn't posted. I'm using [web loadData:data MIMEType:MIMEType textEncodingName:@"UTF-8" baseURL:nil]; where MIMEType is: @"application/vnd.ms-powerpoint" @"application/vnd.ms-word" @"application/vnd.ms-excel" (BTW, I've seen DOC files use mimetype @"application/msword" but the "vnd" version seems more appropriate. I tried both just in case.) I verified that my 'data' is correct. PDF and TXT files work. When the UIWebView displays PPT, DOC, or XLS files, it's blank. I put NSLOG statements in my UIWebViewDelegate calls. shouldStartLoadWithRequest:<NSMutableURLRequest about:blank> navType:5 webViewDidStartLoad: didFailLoadWithError:Error Domain=NSURLErrorDomain Code=100 UserInfo=0x122503a0 "Operation could not be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error 100.)" didFailLoadWithError:Error Domain=WebKitErrorDomain Code=102 UserInfo=0x12253840 "Frame load interrupted" so obviously the load is failing, but why? If I change my mimetype to @"text/plain" for a PPT file, the UIWebView loads fine and displays unprintable characters, as expected. That's telling me the 'data' passed to loadData: is ok. Meaning my mimetypes are bad? And just to make sure my PPT, DOC, and XLS files are indeed ok to display, I created a simple html file with anchor tags to the files. When the html file is displayed in Safari on the iPhone, clicking on the files displays correctly in Safari. I tried to research the error code displayed in didFailLoadWithError (100) but all the documented error codes are negative and greater than 1000 (as seen in NSURLError.h). -(void)webView:(UIWebView *)webView didFailLoadWithError:(NSError *)error { NSLog(@"didFailLoadWithError:%@", error); }

  • Separation of multipage tiff with compression "CCITT T.6" very slow

    - by Alex
    I need to separate multiframe tiff files, and use the following method: public static Image[] GetFrames(Image sourceImage) { Guid objGuid = sourceImage.FrameDimensionsList[0]; FrameDimension objDimension = new FrameDimension(objGuid); int frameCount = sourceImage.GetFrameCount(objDimension); Image[] images = new Image[frameCount]; for (int i = 0; i < frameCount; i++) { MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); sourceImage.SelectActiveFrame(objDimension, i); sourceImage.Save(ms, ImageFormat.Tiff); images[i] = Image.FromStream(ms); } return images; } It works fine, but if the source image was encoded using the CCITT T.6 compression, separating a 20-frame-file takes up to 15 seconds on my 2,5ghz CPU.(edit: One core is at 100% during the process) When saving the images afterward to a single file using standard compression (LZW), the separation time of the LZW-file is under 1 second. Saving with CCITT compression also takes very long. Is there a way to speed up the process?

  • Why does ObservableCollection throws an exception when being modified?

    - by Oliver Hanappi
    Hi! My application uses a WPF DataGrid. One of the columns is a template column that containts a combobox bound to an ObservableCollection of the entity which feeds the row. When I add a value to the ObservableCollection, a NullReferenceException is thrown. Has anybody an idea why this happens? • How to parse japanese char (utf8?) from imap_fetchbody?

    - by timh
    I am pulling down an email which has english, chinese and japanese in the email. I was using PHP/EZComponents to do this, but a certain japanese char was just not coming through so I am switching to php imap_* funcs to see if they will work. This is what I have below, and the output I am getting. I need to decode this somehow... I know this has been well (read:overly/chaotically) documented all over the web, but I dont have time to earn a PHD in this right now. Any help is greatly appreciated. $hn='{imap.gmail.com:993/imap/ssl}INBOX'; $inbox = imap_open($hn,$username,$password,CL_EXPUNGE); foreach($emails as $email_number) { $ov = imap_fetch_overview($inbox,$email_number,0); $msg = imap_fetchbody($inbox,$email_number,2); var_dump($msg); // doesnt work... .. but right idea? // var_dump( utf8_decode($msg) ); } PARTIAL OUTPUT: <font face=3D"Arial"><span lang=3D"EN-US" style=3D"font-size:10.5pt">
</= span><font color=3D"navy" face=3D"MS Gothic"><span lang=3D"JA" style= =3D"font-size:10.5pt">=CC=EC=9A=DD=A4=AC=A4=A4=A4=A4=A4=AB=A4=E9=A1=A2</spa= n>
<p style=3D"margin-right:0pt;margin-bottom:12pt;margin-left:0p= t"> <font color=3D"navy" face=3D"MS Gothic"><span lang=3D"JA" style=3D"font-siz= e:10.5pt">

<p style=3D"margin-right:0pt;margin-bottom:= 12pt;margin-left:0pt"><font color=3D"navy" face=3D"MS Gothic"><span lang=3D= "JA" style=3D"font-size:10.5pt">xxend

  • CIL and JVM Little endian to big endian in c# and java

    - by Haythem
    Hello, I am using on the client C# where I am converting double values to byte array. I am using java on the server and I am using writeDouble and readDouble to convert double values to byte arrays. The problem is the double values from java at the end are not the double values at the begin giving to c# writeDouble in Java Converts the double argument to a long using the doubleToLongBits method , and then writes that long value to the underlying output stream as an 8-byte quantity, high byte first. DoubleToLongBits Returns a representation of the specified floating-point value according to the IEEE 754 floating-point "double format" bit layout. The Program on the server is waiting of 64-102-112-0-0-0-0-0 from C# to convert it to 1700.0 but he si becoming 0000014415464 from c# after c# converted 1700.0 this is my code in c#: class User { double workingStatus; public void persist() { byte[] dataByte; using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream()) { using (BinaryWriter bw = new BinaryWriter(ms)) { bw.Write(workingStatus); bw.Flush(); bw.Close(); } dataByte = ms.ToArray(); for (int j = 0; j < dataByte.Length; j++) { Console.Write(dataByte[j]); } } public double WorkingStatus { get { return workingStatus; } set { workingStatus = value; } } } class Test { static void Main() { User user = new User(); user.WorkingStatus = 1700.0; user.persist(); } thank you for the help.

  • Help decrypting in ColdFusion passwords created in .NET

    - by KnightStalker
    I have a SQL db storing passwords that were encrypted through a .NET application, that I need to decrypt through a ColdFusion app. I just can't seem to get things set upproperly for the CF decryption to work. Any help would by appreciated. Thanks. The .NET decryption code is: public string Decrypt(string input) { try { DESCryptoServiceProvider des = new DESCryptoServiceProvider(); int ZeroBasedByteCount = (input.Length / 2); //Put the input string into the byte array byte[] inputByteArray = new byte[ZeroBasedByteCount]; int i; int x; for (x = 0;x<ZeroBasedByteCount;x++) { i = (Convert.ToInt32(input.Substring(x * 2, 2), 16)); inputByteArray[x] = (byte)i; } //Create the crypto objects des.Key = ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetBytes(key); des.IV = ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetBytes(key); MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); CryptoStream cs = new CryptoStream(ms, des.CreateDecryptor(), CryptoStreamMode.Write); //Flush the data through the crypto stream into the memory stream cs.Write(inputByteArray, 0, inputByteArray.Length); cs.FlushFinalBlock(); //Get the decrypted data back from the memory stream StringBuilder ret = new StringBuilder(); foreach(byte b in ms.ToArray()) { ret.Append((char)b); } return ret.ToString(); } catch(Exception ex) { throw(ex); return null; } }

  • Why is my GZipStream not writeable?

    - by Ozzah
    I have some GZ compressed resources in my program and I need to be able to write them out to temporary files for use. I wrote the following function to write the files out and return true on success or false on failure. In addition, I've put a try/catch in there which shows a MessageBox in the event of an error: private static bool extractCompressedResource(byte[] resource, string path) { try { using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(resource)) { using (FileStream fs = new FileStream(path, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.ReadWrite)) { using (GZipStream zs = new GZipStream(fs, CompressionMode.Decompress)) { ms.CopyTo(zs); // Throws exception zs.Close(); ms.Close(); } } } } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message); // Stream is not writeable return false; } return true; } I've put a comment on the line which throws the exception. If I put a breakpoint on that line and take a look inside the GZipStream then I can see that it's not writeable (which is what's causing the problem). Am I doing something wrong, or is this a limitation of the GZipStream class?

  • production vs dev server content-disposition filename encoding

    - by rgripper
    I am using asp.net mvc3, download file in the same browser (Chrome 22). Here is the controller code: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Uploadfile(HttpPostedFileBase file)//HttpPostedFileBase file, string excelSumInfoId) { ... return File( result.Output, "application/vnd.ms-excel", String.Format("{0}_{1:yyyy.MM.dd-HH.mm.ss}.xls", "????????????", DateTime.Now)); } On my dev machine I download a programmatically created file with the correct name "????????????_2012.10.18-13.36.06.xls". Response: Content-Disposition:attachment; filename*=UTF-8''%D0%A1%D1%83%D0%BC%D0%BC%D0%B8%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%B5_2012.10.18-13.36.06.xls Content-Length:203776 Content-Type:application/vnd.ms-excel Date:Thu, 18 Oct 2012 09:36:06 GMT Server:ASP.NET Development Server/10.0.0.0 X-AspNet-Version:4.0.30319 X-AspNetMvc-Version:3.0 And from production server I download a file with the name of the controller's action + correct extension "Uploadfile.xls", which is wrong. Response: Content-Disposition:attachment; filename="=?utf-8?B?0KHRg9C80LzQuNGA0L7QstCw0L3QuNC1XzIwMTIuMTAuMTgtMTMuMzYu?=%0d%0a =?utf-8?B?NTUueGxz?=" Content-Length:203776 Content-Type:application/vnd.ms-excel Date:Thu, 18 Oct 2012 09:36:55 GMT Server:Microsoft-IIS/7.5 X-AspNet-Version:4.0.30319 X-AspNetMvc-Version:3.0 X-Powered-By:ASP.NET Web.config files are the same on both machines. Why does filename gets encoded differently for the same browser? Are there any kinds of default settings in web.config that are different on machines that I am missing?

  • Inverted colours in tiff to PDF conversion

    - by spiderdijon
    I'm sure I'm making some kind of silly mistake here, but when converting a tiff file to PDF, the colours become reversed. I can't figure out why. Here's my code: PdfWriter writer = PdfWriter.GetInstance(document, new FileStream("Image.pdf", FileMode.Create)); System.Drawing.Bitmap bm = new System.Drawing.Bitmap(@"C:\Temp\338814-00.tif"); int total = bm.GetFrameCount(FrameDimension.Page); document.Open(); PdfContentByte cb = writer.DirectContent; for (int k = 0; k < total; ++k) { bm.SelectActiveFrame(FrameDimension.Page, k); MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); bm.Save(ms, ImageFormat.Tiff); Image img = Image.GetInstance(ms.ToArray()); img.ScalePercent(72f / (float)img.DpiX * 100); img.SetAbsolutePosition(0, 0); cb.AddImage(img); document.NewPage(); } document.Close(); Thanks.

  • Issue encondig java->xls

    - by Xerg
    This is not a pure java question and can also be related to HTML I've written a java servlet that queries a database table and shows the result as a html table. The user can also ask to receive the result as an Excel sheet. Im creating the Excel sheet by printing the same html table, but with the content-type of "application/vnd.ms-excel". The Excel file is created fine. The problem is that the tables may contain non-english data so I want to use a UTF-8 encoding. PrintWriter out = response.getWriter(); response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel:ISO-8859-1"); //response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel:UTF-8"); response.setHeader("cache-control", "no-cache"); response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=file.xls"); out.print(src); out.flush(); The non-english characters appear as garbage (áéíóú) Also I tried converting to bytes from String byte[] arrByte = src.getBytes("ISO-8859-1"); String result = new String(arrByte, "UTF-8"); But I Still getting garbage, What can I do?. Thanks
