  • Passing an array of an array of char to a function

    - by L.A. Rabida
In my program, I may need to load a large file, but not always. So I have defined: char** largefilecontents; string fileName="large.txt"; When I need to load the file, the program calles this function: bool isitok=LoadLargeFile(fileName, largefilecontents); And the function is: bool LoadLargeFile(string &filename, char ** &lines) { if (lines) delete [] lines; ifstream largeFile; #ifdef LINUX largeFile.open(filename.c_str()); #endif #ifdef WINDOWS largeFile.open(filename.c_str(),ios::binary); #endif if (!largeFile.is_open()) return false; lines=new char *[10000]; if (!lines) return false; largeFile.clear(); largeFile.seekg(ios::beg); for (int i=0; i>-1; i++) { string line=""; getline(largeFile, line); if (largeFile.tellg()==-1) break; //when end of file is reached, tellg returns -1 lines[i]=new char[line.length()]; lines[i]=const_cast<char*>(line.c_str()); cout << lines[i] << endl; //debug output } return true; } When I view the debug output of this function, "cout << lines[i] << endl;", it is fine. But when I then check this in the main program like this, it is all messed up: for (i=0; i<10000; i++) cout << largefilecontents[i] << endl; So within the function LoadLargeFile(), the results are fine, but without LoadLargeFile(), the results are all messed up. My guess is that the char ** &lines part of the function isn't right, but I do not know what this should be. Could someone help me? Thank you in advance!

  • Unexpected variable update when using bash's $(( )) operator for arithmetic

    - by philo
I'm trying to trim a few lines from a file. I know exactly how many lines to remove (say, 2 from the top), but not how many total lines are in the file. So I tried this straightforward solution: $ wc -l $FILENAME 119559 my_filename.txt $ LINES=$(wc -l $FILENAME | awk '{print $1}') $ tail -n $(($LINES - 2)) $FILENAME > $OUTPUT_FILE The output is fine, but what happened to LINES?? $ wc -l $OUTPUT_FILE 119557 my_output_file.txt $ echo $LINES 107 Hoping someone can help me understand what's going on.

  • How to represent "{{" in a django template?

    - by rxin
I'm trying to output in bibtex format in Django and the template looks like this: @{{ pubentry.type }{, author = {{% for author in pubentry.authors.all %}{{ author.first_name }} {{ author.middle_name }} {{ author.last_name }}{% if not forloop.last %} and {% endif %} {% endfor %}}, title = {{{ pubentry.title }}}, journal = {{{ pubentry.journal }}} } The problem is with the "{{{" or "{{%". One way to go around the problem is to add a space after the first "{", but that kind of tamper the format. What's the right way to escape { in Django templates?

  • Using regex to add leading zeroes

    - by hgpc
I would like to add a certain number of leading zeroes (say up to 3) to all numbers of a string. For example: Input: /2009/5/song 01 of 3 Output: /2009/0005/song 0001 of 0003 What's the best way to do this with regular expressions?

  • Django logging features?

    - by MikeN
I need to run a lot of Django management commands in the crontab and want to log the output of each run to a special timestamped file. Is there a Django or Python module to help me do this or do I just have to roll my own?

  • Embedding existing page in a CakePHP site

    - by lhahne
We have an existing PHP page (from an earlier project) which could be described as cryptic and ancient. It basically displays a form, catches the input and runs an external application to process the input and then pipes the output to the user. I would really like not to modify this file any more than is required. Would there be an easy way to just make this file magically work by copying it to some location in the CakePHP's directory and have it receive $POST etc. as usual?

  • Different values for Time.now when using activerecord

    - by Josué Lima
I have this weird situation: When I do on rails console Time.now or Time.zone.now I get the same values (suppose they run at the sime time: 2014-06-05 23:38:06 -0300) But when I use Time.now in a query like: Match.where("datetime = ?", Time.now) it returns the time 3 hours ahead! .to_sql output: SELECT `matches`.* FROM `matches` WHERE (datetime = '2014-06-06 02:38:06') any thoughts on that? • Can XPath concatenate two nodeset values? (for use in XForms)

    - by iHeartGreek
Hi! I am wanting to concatenate two nodeset values using XPath in XForms. I know that XPath has a concat(string, string) function, but how would I go about concatenating two nodeset values? BEGIN EDIT: I tried concat function.. I tried this.. and variations of it to make it work, but it doesn't <xf:value ref="concat(instance('param_choices')/choice/root, .)"/> END EDIT Below is a simplified code example of what I am trying to achieve. XForms model: <xf:instance id="param_choices" xmlns=""> <choices> <root label="Param Choices">/param</root> <choice label="Name">/@AAA</choice> <choice label="Value">/@BBB</choice> </choices> </xf:instance> XForms ui code that I currently have: <xf:select ref="instance('criteria_data')/criteria/criterion" appearance="full"> <xf:label>Param choices:</xf:label> <br/> <xf:itemset nodeset="instance('param_choices')/choice"> <xf:label ref="@label"></xf:label> <xf:value ref="."></xf:value> </xf:itemset> </xf:select> (if user selects "Name" checkbox..) the XML output is: <criterion>/@BBB</criterion> However! I want to combine the root nodeset value with the current choice nodeset value. Essentially: <xf:value ref="(instance('definition_choices')/choice/root) + ."/> to achieve the following XML output: <criterion>/param/@BBB</criterion> Any suggestions on how to do this? (I am fairly new to XPath and XForms) p.s. what I am asking makes sense to me when I typed it out, but if you have trouble figuring out what I'm asking, just let me know.. thanks!

  • MIN array function non zeros only

    - by user1717622
I have been trying to get this array function to output (non-zero) minimum values in the 'FINAL DATA' AE column. Can you see a structural error in this formula? =IF($C$4="All EMEA", MIN(IF('FINAL DATA'!$2:$AE$250000<>0, ('FINAL DATA'!$J$2:$J$250000=$C$4)*('FINAL DATA'!$E$2:$E$250000=$E$4)*( 'FINAL DATA'!$AE$2:$AE$250000))), MIN(IF('FINAL DATA'!$AE$2:$AE$250000<>0, ('FINAL DATA'!$K$2:$K$250000=$C$4)*('FINAL DATA'!$E$2:$E$250000=$E$4)*( 'FINAL DATA'!$AE$2:$AE$250000))) )

  • CPU ordering in Linux (with hyper threading)

    - by Jason
I'm curious what the CPU ordering is in Linux. Say I bind a thread to cpu0 and another to cpu1 on a hyperthreaded system, are they both going to be on the same physical core. Given a Core i7 920 with 4 cores and hyperthreading, the output of /proc/cpuinfo has me thinking that cpu0 and cpu1 are different physical cores, and cpu0 and cpu4 are on the same physical core. Thanks.

  • What is the best way to manage unix process from java?

    - by erotsppa
I'm looking for some simple tasks like listing all the running process of a user, or kill a particular process by pid etc. Basic unix process management from Java. Is there a library out there that is relatively mature and documented? I could run a external command from the JVM and then parse the standard output/error but that seems like a lot of work and not robust at all. Any suggestions?
