I'm trying to access the post target action in a jquery function. example: <form action="/page/users" id="signup" method="post"> I'd like to access the "action" part - "/page/users" in this case. $('#signup').live("submit", function(event) { // get this submitted action } Seems like I'm missing something very simple. • Accessing Spring beans from servlet filters and tags

    - by Damo
I can access Spring beans in my Servlets using WebApplicationContext springContext = WebApplicationContextUtils.getWebApplicationContext(getServletContext()); in the Servlet's init method. I was wondering is there an equivalent of the WebApplicationContext for servlet filters? Also, is it possible to access Spring beans in a tag class?

  • accessing array values without square brackets in php

    - by amb
In php how can I access an array's values without using square brackets around the key? My particular problem is that I want to access the elements of an array returned by a function. Say function(args) returns an array. Why is $var = function(args)[0]; yelling at me about the square brackets? Can I do something like $var = function(args).value(0); or am I missing something very basic?

  • Who are the most important people in open-source software? [closed]

    - by poseid
I am reading a book by Malcolm Gladwell on the circumstances of successful careers. The book argues that Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Bill Joy and more succesful computer pioneers were born between 1950-1955, and did absolve around 10000 hours of practice before microcomputers became widely available in the 1970s and their fairy tale success story begins. As we are in the age of web 2.0 with new forms of databases and persuasive access to information, who are in your opinion the most succesful computer programmers or scientists of our times, when were they born and to which technologies they had access?

  • Easy to use web-based reporting tool

    - by SuperFurryToad
I'm looking for recommendations for an easy to use reporting/business intelligence tool that can interface with an sql server or access database. It can be web-based or a desktop tool. Ideally it would be freeware or low cost, and easy to use for users who are not that technically savvy (below the level of someone who can generate reports and complicated queries in Access). Any tools I've seen so far (such as Crystal Reports) are either too expensive or too complicated to use for non-power users.

I need to test a feature in a live "asp.net mvc" web site and would want to block access to the site while testing, how would you recommend doing that? Is it possible to block access and still be able to test as an anonymous user? (I need to test the process as a user that's not logged in).

  • Entity Framework ObjectContext re-usage

    - by verror
I'm learning EF now and have a question regarding the ObjectContext: Should I create instance of ObjectContext for every query (function) when I access the database? Or it's better to create it once (singleton) and reuse it? Before EF I was using enterprise library data access block and created instance of dataacess for DataAccess function...

If possible I would like to avoid database access and use in memory buffer (along with some synchronization mechanism)

  • Crystal Reports API - chart: "for all records" or "for each record"?

    - by Epaga
Is there any way to determine whether a chart in Crystal Reports 2008 (using either the RAS SDK or the older RDC API) is set to display values "for each record" or "for all records"? I can get access to a CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.ChartObject but can't find any API there to access which type of chart it is - "for each" or "for all".

  • alternatives to accessing google reader with oauth?

    - by Dustin Getz
I'm really new to this oauth stuff. I want to access a user's google reader liked items feed. This blog says that oauth doesn't work (yet) with google reader. The working way seems to be to get the user's google credentials (email, password) directly, and login directly to google. This also gives me access to the rest of their services. Is there a better way, or must the user trust me with their google credentials?

  • Moving files between Windows computers without creating network shares

    - by mavnn
What's needed: To move several directories between two Windows 2008 servers on a regular basis. Due to security requirements, neither server is supposed to have network shares set up or extraneous software installed. What's available: Administrator access to both machines (including remote desktop access if that helps). A third machine with: Visual Studio 2010 Cygwin Bonus extras The script that does the rest of the work (apart from moving the files) is currently written in F#, but any .net/command line based solution would be fine.
