Is there a simple way to consume a WCF Service from Classical ASP respectively in VB6 ?
Is it possible to provide a WCF Service as a COM+ Service (component) ?
I want to set the height of asp:panel to auto and I also want to ensure that max height is 400px and after that scroll bars must be present.
I want to set it auto so that if the content is less than height 400px there will not be any empty space in the bottom.
Any ideas?? :-)

does anyone know how to use jquery modal dialog in asp.net pages?
http://jqueryui.com/demos/dialog/
I've tried creating a simple aspx page, pasted code from the example (http://jqueryui.com/demos/dialog/), it almost works. The dialog briefly shows up and then disappears. It seems that the page is doing a postback. I'm not sure how to stop it, so that the modal dialog stays up.
I have a Linq to SQL data model that uses single table inheritance.
I created a new ASP.net Dynamic Data web site with all table scaffolding enabled, but I can't see any of the derived classes in my data model being scaffolded.
Is this by design?
Hi,
Is it possible to create a new thread in asp.net to do some processing, and then upon completion, set a flag so that when the user requests the next page, I can insert some extra text or code to perform some notification? Or if it is possible to send some text to the browser after the request has completed?
For example jGrowl would be great to have a notification after some processing has been performed.
Thanks
Hi there,
I am currently building a webshop for my own where I want to increment the product-stock when the user fails to complete payment within 10 minutes after the customer placed the order. I want to gather information from this thread to make a design decision.
I am using SQL Server 2008 and ASP.NET 3.5. Should I use a SQL Server Job who intervals check the orders which are not payed yet or are there better solutions to do this.
Thanks in advance!

I have a GridView in my ASP.NET application that takes data to be rendered from EntityDataSource. GridView allows user to select rows. I want to get the entity that corresponds to the row user selected. I can get from GridView the ID(primary key) of the entity that corresponds to the row selected. How can I get the Entity that has that ID(primary key) ?
I'm currently supporting a Python web app with increasingly complicated user/role/permission management requirements. Currently, we are rolling our own user, groups, permissions, etc. code and supporting database.
I'd like to find something like ASP.NET membership that can help manage user authentication and authorization, rather than risk security issues in continuing to create an increasingly complicated custom solution. Are there any similar projects out there worth taking a look at?
Hi,
I am doing a really simple query in asp.net but after I inserted the LIKE clause it stops working.
Example:
String sql = " SELECT * FROM Products WHERE ID = @MYID AND Name LIKE '%@MYNAME%' ";
SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(sql, cn);
If I removed the LIKE it works. Hence I am thinking its to do with the '' quotes?
Thanks
Hi
I have different urls that points to the same code
www.url1.com
www.url2.com
I need to use the cache, but if the aspnet cache is enabled when someone access to www.url1.com next person accessing www.url2.com could get the previously cached data (www.url1.com)
I need to have ALL caches activated except this one.

I am using nLog in a large financial application, but frequently need to bring up the logs of the last hour while the software is running and filter on specific loggers/levels. I want to log everything to SQL, and use an asp.net viewer. Do any such project exist? Are there some good example sites for this?
Hey,

Hi,
I want to do the following in my page_load:
if (condition)
ChangePasswordControl.InstructionText = "......";
However, I am using a ChangePasswordTemplate which when generated doesn't include an
<asp:Literal ID="InstructionText runat="server" /> or similar.
Can anyone suggest how to conditionally include instructions in the template in this context?
Thanks,
Chris

Help, here is the idea:
External.dll
IMyClass NewCreated = (IMyClass)Activator.CreateInstance(Namespace.MyClass).UnWrap();
Asp.Net WebSite
App_Code
Namespace.MyClass.cs
Bin
External.dll
Is that even posible?
I have tried, a lot of posible combinations, like:
Assembly.GetCallingAssembly().CreateInstance("Namespace.MyClass")
Activator.CreateInstance(AppDomain.CurrentDomain,"Namespace","Namespace.MyClass")
Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().CreateInstance("Namespace.MyClass")
Is it possible to do data binding on the fields of an object just like in WPF?
Something like this:
<TextBlock Text="{Binding ElementName=lbColor}" />
just for an asp:TextBox element. What I want is that on submit to have the new values inside the binded object and I don't want to manually read and set the values.
Hey,
What's the easiest way to perform an FQL query from an ASP.NET application? Do I have to download the Facebook Developer Toolkit (which I only want to use as a last resort), or is there an easier way (maybe through javascript)? I'm not doing any heavy queries if that makes a difference. (I simply want to get the user's profile picture URL from my site. It might not even need FQL?)
Thanks for any suggestions
Hello,
I have a question about how ASP.NET AJAX partial rendering actually works. Does it:
1) Renders the whole page on the server, transmits the whole page to the client, the client then merges just the area contained in the update panel.
2) Renders the whole page on the server, transmits and merges just the area contained by the update panel.
3) Renders, transmits and merges just the area contained by the update panel.
Thanks,
AJ
