  • Efficient way in Python to remove an element from a comma-separated string

    - by ensnare
    I'm looking for the most efficient way to add an element to a comma-separated string while maintaining alphabetical order for the words: For example: string = 'Apples, Bananas, Grapes, Oranges' subtraction = 'Bananas' result = 'Apples, Grapes, Oranges' Also, a way to do this but while maintaining IDs: string = '1:Apples, 4:Bananas, 6:Grapes, 23:Oranges' subtraction = '4:Bananas' result = '1:Apples, 6:Grapes, 23:Oranges' Sample code is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

  • C++ initializing constants and inheritance

    - by pingvinus
    I want to initialize constant in child-class, instead of base class. And use it to get rid of dynamic memory allocation (I know array sizes already, and there will be a few child-classes with different constants). So I try: class A { public: const int x; A() : x(0) {} A(int x) : x(x) {} void f() { double y[this->x]; } }; class B : A { B() : A(2) {} }; Pretty simple, but compiler says: error C2057: expected constant expression How can I say to compiler, that it is really a constant?

  • wsgi-served page does not refresh

    - by Steve
    I recently got my first app to work in uWSGI with Cherokee. I used the following code taken from the uWSGI docs: def application(environ, start_response): start_response('200 OK', [('Content-Type', 'text/plain')]) yield 'Hello World\n' The page correctly reads Hello World. When I change that text to New Thing and refresh, nothing changes. What am I forgetting? What I've tried: clearing browser history and cache stopping and starting Cherokee

  • JSF tags not being rendered as HTML

    - by Toto
    I'm following the Java EE firstcup tutorial using Netbeans and Glassfish. When I execute the JSF web tier I've been instructed to code, the browser gets the same JSF markup coded in the .xhtml file, and the tags are not rendered as HTML tags. I know this by using the view source code in my browser. For example, for this code: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"> <h:head> <title>Page title here</title> </h:head> <h:body> <h2> <h:outputText value="#{bundle.WelcomeMessage}" /> </h2> </h:body> </html> The browser should get something like: <html ...> <head> <title>Page title here</title> </head> <body> <h2> the welcome message goes here </h2> </body> </html> Right? Well, my browser is getting jsf code (the first piece of code above) and not the html code (the second piece of code above). It seems to be a configuration problem in netbeans or glassfish but don't know what. Any ideas? This is my web.xml file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <web-app version="3.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-app_3_0.xsd"> <context-param> <param-name>javax.faces.PROJECT_STAGE</param-name> <param-value>Development</param-value> </context-param> <servlet> <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name> <servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet</servlet-class> <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/firstcup/*</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> <session-config> <session-timeout> 30 </session-timeout> </session-config> <welcome-file-list> <welcome-file>greetings.xhtml</welcome-file> </welcome-file-list> </web-app> This is my faces-config.xml file: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <!-- =========== FULL CONFIGURATION FILE ================================== --> <faces-config version="2.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-facesconfig_2_0.xsd"> <application> <resource-bundle> <base-name>firstcup.web.WebMessages</base-name> <var>bundle</var> </resource-bundle> <locale-config> <default-locale>en</default-locale> <supported-locale>es</supported-locale> </locale-config> </application> <navigation-rule> <from-view-id>/greetings.xhtml</from-view-id> <navigation-case> <from-outcome>success</from-outcome> <to-view-id>/response.xhtml</to-view-id> </navigation-case> </navigation-rule> </faces-config> Moreover: The url I'm entering in the browser is http://localhost:8081/firstcup/ but I've also tried: http://localhost:8081/firstcup/greetings.xhtml I've checked Glassfish logs and there's no information about not being able to load FacesServlet

  • PHP Array To Class Static Public Values.

    - by what
    I want to make a class that has all the values of an array as a static object in that class. For example: $vars=array(... );//some array with actual values $Class_code='class MyClass{'; for($i=0; $i<count($vars); $i++){ $Class_code.='static public $'.strval($vars[i]).';'; } eval($Class_code.'}'); /* When I echo the line above it says that the vars for MyClass (MyClass::vars) are missing even with strval(). */ So, how can I get $vars[i] to be a string if strval didn't work?

  • Proper indentation for Python multiline strings

    - by ensnare
    What is the proper indentation for Python multiline strings within a function? def method: string = """line one line two line three""" or def method: string = """line one line two line three""" or something else? It looks kind of weird to have the string hanging outside the function in the first example. Thanks.

  • MySQL " identify storage engine statement"

    - by sammysmall
    This IS NOT a Homework question! While building my current student database project I realized that I may want to identify comprehensive information about a database design in the future. More-so if I am fortunate enough to get a job in this field and were handed a database project how could I break down certain elements for identification... In all of my previous designs I have been using MySQL Community Server (GPL) 5.1.42, I thought (duh) that I was using the MyISAM based on most of my text-book instruction and MySQL 5.0 Reference Manual :: 13 Storage Engines :: 13.1 The MyISAM Storage Engine I determined that this was in fact incorrect for this version and the use of "SHOW ENGINES" at the console... No problem, figured out why they have "versions" the need to pay attention to what version is being used, and the need for a means to determine what I am about to mess up "if" I do not pay attention to detail... Q1. Specifically what statement will identify the version used by someone elses initial database creation? (since I created my own databases I know what version I used) Q2. Specifically what statement will identify the storage engine that the developer used when creating the database. (I specified a particular database in my collection then tried SHOW Engine, did not work, then tried to just get the metadata from one table in that database: mysql SELECT duck_cust, table_type, engine - FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.tables - WHERE table_schema = 'tp' - ORDER BY table_type ASC, table_name DESC; as this was not really what I wanted (and did not work) I am looking for some direction from the pros... Q3. (If you really have the inclination to continue helping) If I were to access a database from an earlier/later "version" are there backward/forward compatibility issues for maintaining/updating data between versions? Please and Thank you in advance for your time and efforts! sammysmall

  • When setting a form's opacity should I use a decimal or double?

    - by Eggs McLaren
    I'm new to C#, and I want to use a track-bar to change a form's opacity. This is my code: decimal trans = trackBar1.Value / 5000 this.Opacity = trans When I try to build it, I get this error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'decimal' to 'double' I tried making trans a double, but then the control doesn't work. This code worked fine for me in VB.NET. What do I need to do differently?

  • How big can I make an Android application's canvas in terms of pixels?

    - by user279112
    I've determined an estimate of the size of my Android emulator's screen in pixels, although I think its resolution can be changed to other numbers. Quite frankly though that doesn't eliminate the general problem of not knowing how many pixels on each axis I have to work with on my Android applications in general. The main problem I'm trying to solve is this: How do I make sure I don't use a faulty resolution on Android applications if I want to keep things' sizes constant (so that if the application screen shrinks, for instances, objects will still show up just as big - there just won't be as many of them being shown) if I wish to do this with a single universal resolution for each program? Failing that, how do I make sure everything's alright if I try to do everything the same way with maybe a few different pre-set resolutions? Mainly it seems like a relevant question that must be answered before I can come across a complete answer for the general problem is how big can I always make my application in pixels, NOT regarding if and when a user resizes the application's screen to something smaller than the maximum size permitted by the phone and its operating system. I really want to try to keep this simple. If I were doing this for a modern desktop, for instance, I know that if I design the application with a 800x600 canvas, the user can still shrink the application to the point they're not doing themselves any favors, but at least I can basically count on it working right and not being too big for the monitor or something. Is there such a magic resolution for Android, assuming that I'm designing for API levels 3+ (Android 1.5+)? Thanks

  • PHP Form checkbox question

    - by Sef
    Hello, I have a form that takes the following inputs: Name: IBM Surface(in m^2): 9 Floor: (Checkbox1) Phone: (Checkbox2) Network: (Checkbox3) Button to send to a next php page. All those values above are represented in a table when i press the submit button. The first two (name and surname) are properly displayed in the table. The problem is with the checkboxes. If i select the first checkbox the value in the table should be presented with 1. If its not selected the value in the table should be empty. echo "<td>$Name</td>"; // works properly echo "<td>$Surface</td>"; // works properly echo "<td>....no idea for the checkboxes</td>; Some part of my php code with the variables: <?php if (!empty($_POST)) { $standnaam = $_POST["name"]; $oppervlakte = $_POST["surface"]; $verdieping = $_POST["floor"]; $telefoon = $_POST["telefoon"]; $netwerk = $_POST["netwerk"]; if (is_numeric($surface)) { $_SESSION["name"]=$name; $_SESSION["surface"]=$surface; header("Location:ExpoOverzicht.php"); } else { echo "<h1>Wrong input, Pleasee fill in again</h1>"; } if(!empty($floor) && ($phone) && ($network)) { $_SESSION["floor"]=$floor; $_SESSION["phone"]=$phone; $_SESSION["network"]=$network; header("Location:ExpoOverzicht.php"); } } ?> Second page with table: <?php $name= $_SESSION["name"]; $surface= $_SESSION["surface"]; $floor= $_SESSION["floor"]; $phone= $_SESSION["phone"]; $network= $_SESSION["network"]; echo "<table class=\"tableExpo\">"; echo "<th>name</th>"; echo "<th>surface</th>"; echo "<th>floor</th>"; echo "<th>phone</th>"; echo "<th>network</th>"; echo "<th>total price</th>"; for($i=0; $i <= $_SESSION["name"]; $i++) { echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>$name</td>"; // gives right output echo "<td>$surface</td>"; // gives right output echo "<td>...</td>"; //wrong output (ment for checkbox 1) echo "<td>...</td>"; //wrong output (ment for checkbox 2) echo "<td>...</td>"; //wrong output (ment for checkbox 3) echo "<td>....</td>"; echo "</tr>;"; } echo "</table>"; <form action="<?php echo $_SERVER["PHP_SELF"]; ?>" method="post" id="form1"> <h1>Vul de gegevens in</h1> <table> <tr> <td>Name:</td> <td><input type="text" name="name" size="18"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Surface(in m^2):</td> <td><input type="text" name="surface" size="6"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Floor:</td> <td><input type="checkbox" name="floor" value="floor"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Phone:</td> <td><input type="checkbox" name="phone" value="phone"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Network:</td> <td><input type="checkbox" name="network" value="network"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="submit" name="verzenden" value="Verzenden"/></td> </tr> </table> There might be a few spelling mistakes since i had to translate it.   • "_FILE_AND_LINE_ is not defined in this scope" (compiling RakNet NAT examples in OS X)

    - by Michael F
    Hello! I'm working on a RakNet-based project (using 3.8 on OS X 10.6), and I'm trying to work through the various examples that demonstrate the parts of RakNet I want to use. For the "NatCompleteClient" example, I've imported the source into a command-line project in XCode, along with the UPNP dependency. At compile time I've had a few errors in the UPNP section, though, and I can't find any guidance on this. In UPNPPortForwarder.mm, there are 7 lines that use _FILE_AND_LINE_, and the compiler is not happy; for example on line 232: foundInterfaces.Deallocate(r1,_FILE_AND_LINE_); causes: UPNPPortForwarder.mm:232: error: '_FILE_AND_LINE_' was not declared in this scope Can anyone tell me what this is all about? That variable doesn't seem to get talked about very often... or Google doesn't like to find it.

  • How to corelate gtk.ListStore items with my own models

    - by Victor Stanciu
    Hello, I have a list of Project objects, that I display in a GTK TreeView. I am trying to open a dialog with a Project's details when the user double-clicks on the item's row in the TreeView. Right now I get the selected value from the TreeView (which is the name of the Project) via get_selection(), and search for that Project by name in my own list to corelate the selection with my own model. However, this doesn't feel quite right (plus, it assumes that a Project's name is unique), and I was wondering if there is a more elegant way of doing it.

  • Would it be faster to use CMS for building the first site in ASP.NET?

    - by rem
    I need an opinion and advise from experienced ASP.NET people, what way to go. Assuming that a developer has some practical background with HTML/JavaScript/PHP on one side and some .NET/C#/WPF experience on the other side. No previous hands on experience with ASP.NET - only theory and some read books on the topic. The task is to build ASP.NET web site with User Managment functionality (user authentication, user account, user buying history, user points and so on) and E-commerce functionality with shopping cart, checkout and all needed for this. Is it worth, i.e. will it be faster, more reliable and secure in the result to use a ASP.NET CMS system (for example Sitefinity from Telerik as declared developer friendly) to build such first site? In what case the learning curve will be more steep and it will take more time to achieve similar results? Notes to take into consideration: 1) Price of the CMS matters not very much 2) E-commerce module should be written from scratch in any case (and integrated in case of using CMS) due to very specific requirements
