  • CKEDITOR, is return some strange characters

    - by nobosh
    With CKEDITOR, when I use JS to get the contents of the Text Editor, I'm getting back: <p>\u000a\u0009&nbsp;ad adad ad asd</p>\u000a When I should have gotten: <p>ad adad ad asd</p> Any idea what's going on here? The only difference that could be the cause is that I'm dynamically created textareas on load, and using a class to find the editor: $('.guideItem-textarea').each(function(index, value){ // ID of the textarea var targeteditor = $(this).attr('id'); var targeteditorID = $(this).attr('id').replace('noteguide',''); // Contents in the editor textareacontents = CKEDITOR.instances[targeteditor].getData(); }); Any ideas?

  • Delete all characters in a multline string up to a given pattern

    - by biffabacon
    Using Python I need to delete all charaters in a multiline string up to the first occurrence of a given pattern. In Perl this can be done using regular expressions with something like: #remove all chars up to first occurrence of cat or dog or rat $pattern = 'cat|dog|rat' $pagetext =~ s/(.*?)($pattern)/$2/xms; What's the best way to do it in Python?

  • Replacing delimiter characters in file path

    - by salvationishere
    I'm developing a C# web application in VS 2008. I let the user select an input file and then I store the file path in a string variable. However, it stores this path as "C:\\folder\\...". So my question is how do I convert this file path into single "\"? To clarify more, this is my code in context. Currently it is entering the If Directory does not Exist section. protected void btnAppend_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string fullpath = Page.Request.PhysicalPath; fullpath.Replace('\\', '\'); if (!Directory.Exists(fullpath)) { string msg = "<h1>The upload path doesn't exist: {0}</h1>";

  • How to remove characters from a string?

    - by masato-san
    Hi, Below is interview question so you cannot relay on the functions that predefined in libraries. Also my answer below set the element to null but there is another ways to solve the problem. Given string $string = "This is a pen", remove "is" so that return value is "Th a pen" (including whitespece). I've tried (shown below) but returned value is not correct. Thanks in advance! function remove_delimiter_from_string(&$string, $del) { for($i=0; $i<strlen($string); $i++) { for($j=0; $j<strlen($del); $j++) { if($string[$i] == $del[$j]) { $string[$i] = $string[$i+$j]; //this grabs delimiter :( } } } echo $string . "\n"; }

  • C++ - Unwanted characters printed in output file.

    - by Gabe
    This is the last part of the program I am working on. I want to output a tabular list of songs to cout. And then I want to output a specially formatted list of song information into fout (which will be used as an input file later on). Printing to cout works great. The problem is that tons of extra character are added when printing to fout. Any ideas? Here's the code: void Playlist::printFile(ofstream &fout, LinkedList<Playlist> &allPlaylists, LinkedList<Songs*> &library) { fout.open("music.txt"); if(fout.fail()) { cout << "Output file failed. Information was not saved." << endl << endl; } else { if(library.size() > 0) fout << "LIBRARY" << endl; for(int i = 0; i < library.size(); i++) // For Loop - "Incremrenting i"-Loop to go through library and print song information. { fout << library.at(i)->getSongName() << endl; // Prints song name. fout << library.at(i)->getArtistName() << endl; // Prints artist name. fout << library.at(i)->getAlbumName() << endl; // Prints album name. fout << library.at(i)->getPlayTime() << " " << library.at(i)->getYear() << " "; fout << library.at(i)->getStarRating() << " " << library.at(i)->getSongGenre() << endl; } if(allPlaylists.size() <= 0) fout << endl; else if(allPlaylists.size() > 0) { int j; for(j = 0; j < allPlaylists.size(); j++) // Loops through all playlists. { fout << "xxxxx" << endl; fout << allPlaylists.at(j).getPlaylistName() << endl; for(int i = 0; i < allPlaylists.at(j).listSongs.size(); i++) { fout << allPlaylists.at(j).listSongs.at(i)->getSongName(); fout << endl; fout << allPlaylists.at(j).listSongs.at(i)->getArtistName(); fout << endl; } } fout << endl; } } } Here's a sample of the output to music.txt (fout): LIBRARY sadljkhfds dfgkjh dfkgh 3 3333 3 Rap sdlkhs kjshdfkh sdkjfhsdf 3 33333 3 Rap xxxxx PayröÈöè÷÷(÷H÷h÷÷¨÷È÷èøø(øHøhøø¨øÈøèùù(ùHùhùù¨ùÈùèúú(úHúhúú¨úÈúèûû(ûHûhûû¨ûÈûèüü(üHühüü¨üÈüèýý(ýHýhý ! sdkjfhsdf!õüöýÄõ¼5! sadljkhfds!þõÜö|ö\ þx þ  þÈ þð ÿ ÿ@ ÿh ÿ ÿ¸ ÿà 0 X ¨ Ð ø enter code here enter code here

  • Kohana v3, escape illegal characters?

    - by Dom
    Quick question, does Kohana (version 3) automatically escape data that is passed into ORM::factory..... (and everywhere else that has to do with the database)? For example: $thread = ORM::factory('thread', $this->request->param('id')); Would the data passed in the second argument be auto-escaped before it goes in the SQL query or do I have to manually do it? Probably a stupid question and it's better to be safe than sorry, but yeah... I usually do manually escape the data, but I want to know if Kohana does this for me? Thanks

  • Find all html characters in drop-down option text and replace them via jQuery

    - by Jon Harding
    I have a dropdown menu that pulls in text from a database column. The database column can include HTML mark-up. In the drop-down I obviously don't need that in the text. I am working on some jquery and it partially accomplished what I'm looking for. However, it seems to only be replacing the first instance of each character $('select option').each(function() { this.text = this.text.replace('&nbsp;', ' '); this.text = this.text.replace('<div>', '' ); this.text = this.text.replace('</div>', '' ); }); Here is the HTML for the drop-down: <select name="ctl00$SubPageBody$ClassList" id="ctl00_SubPageBody_ClassList"> <option value="196">Four Week Series: July 19, 2012, 11:00am-12:00pm&<div>July 26, 2012, 11:00am-12:00pm&nbsp;</div><div>August 2, 2012, 11:00am-12:00pm</div><div>August 9, 2012, 11:00am-12:00pm</div></option> </select>

  • Matching several items inside one string with preg_match_all() and end characters

    - by nefo_x
    I have the following code: preg_match_all('/(.*) \((\d+)\) - ([\d\.\d]+)[,?]/U', "E-Book What I Didn't Learn At School... (2) - 3525.01, FREE Intro DVD/Vid (1) - 0.15", $match); var_dump($string, $match); and get the following ouput: array(4) { [0]=> array(1) { [0]=> string(54) "E-Book What I Didn't Learn At School... (2) - 3525.01," } [1]=> array(1) { [0]=> string(39) "E-Book What I Didn't Learn At School..." } [2]=> array(1) { [0]=> string(1) "2" } [3]=> array(1) { [0]=> string(7) "3525.01" } } which matches only one items... what i need is to get all items from such strings. when i've added "," sign to the end of the string - it worked fine. but that is non-sense in adding comma to each string. Any advice?

  • Encryption in PHP leaves unwanted characters

    - by MichaelH
    I have made an encryption function which encrypts a simple value and stores it in the database. Here is the code to encrypt and decrypt: public function encrypt($string){ $iv_size = mcrypt_get_iv_size(MCRYPT_RIJNDAEL_128, MCRYPT_MODE_ECB); $iv = mcrypt_create_iv($iv_size, MCRYPT_RAND); $value = mcrypt_encrypt(MCRYPT_RIJNDAEL_128, $this->key256, $string, MCRYPT_MODE_ECB, $iv); $value = base64_encode($value); return $value; } public function decrypt($string){ $value = base64_decode($string); $value = mcrypt_decrypt(MCRYPT_RIJNDAEL_128, $this->key256, $value, MCRYPT_MODE_ECB); return $value; } When I encrypt a simple value such as 'Michael' and decrypt again, I get the value: Michael????????? Is there a reason I get all those question marks or a way to get rid of them?

  • Break a string into parts, returning all characters

    - by Benjamin
    I want to break a string according to the following rules: all consecutive alpha-numeric chars, plus the dot (.) must be treated as one part all other consecutive chars must be treated as one part consecutive combinations of 1 and 2 must be treated as different parts no whitespace must be returned For example this string: Method(hierarchy.of.properties) = ? Should return this array: Array ( [0] => Method [1] => ( [2] => hierarchy.of.properties [3] => ) [4] => = [5] => ? ) I was unsuccessful with preg_split(), as AFAIK it cannot treat the pattern as an element to be returned. Any idea for a simple way to do this?

  • Do word boundaries work on symbol characters?

    - by Shawn31313
    I'm trying to implement word boundaries in my emoticons feature for a chat. But for some reason I can't seem to get the word boundaries to work. I am new to regex. So when I do: var reg = /\b\Hi\b/gi; var str = 'HiHiHi Hi HiHiHi Hi'; alert(str.replace(reg, '')); This happens: Jsfiddle It actually works fine, and does remove those 2 Hi's that are standing alone. But when I change the reg to an escaped smiley and then change the string: var reg = /\b\:\)\b/gi; var str = 'HiHi:) :) HiHiHi :)'; alert(str.replace(reg, '')); This happens: Jsfiddle It just doesn't work. The string stays the same. Is it that word boundaries can't be used on symbols? If so, how does Facebook do it on their chats?

  • Erlang - Eccentricity with accented characters and string literal

    - by erevfall
    Hey, I am trying to implement a function to differentiate between french vowels and consonnants. It should be trivial, let's see what I wrote down : -define(vowels,"aeiouyàâéèêëôù"). is_vowel(Char) -> C = string:to_lower(Char), lists:member(C,?vowels). It's pretty simple, but it behaves incorrectly : 2> char:is_vowel($â). false While the interpreted version works well : 3> C = string:to_lower($â), lists:member(C,"aeiouyàâéèêëôù"). true What's going on ?

  • Python finding substring between certain characters using regex and replace()

    - by jCuga
    Suppose I have a string with lots of random stuff in it like the following: strJunk ="asdf2adsf29Value=five&lakl23ljk43asdldl" And I'm interested in obtaining the substring sitting between 'Value=' and '&', which in this example would be 'five'. I can use a regex like the following: match = re.search(r'Value=?([^&>]+)', strJunk) >>> print match.group(0) Value=five >>> print match.group(1) five How come match.group(0) is the whole thing 'Value=five' and group(1) is just 'five'? And is there a way for me to just get 'five' as the only result? (This question stems from me only having a tenuous grasp of regex) I am also going to have to make a substitution in this string such such as the following: val1 = match.group(1) strJunk.replace(val1, "six", 1) Which yields: 'asdf2adsf29Value=six&lakl23ljk43asdldl' Considering that I plan on performing the above two tasks (finding the string between 'Value=' and '&', as well as replacing that value) over and over, I was wondering if there are any other more efficient ways of looking for the substring and replacing it in the original string. I'm fine sticking with what I've got but I just want to make sure that I'm not taking up more time than I have to be if better methods are out there.

  • Escaping and unescaping a string with single and double quotes in Javascript

    - by Reina
    I have a search box that a user can search for any string including single AND double quotes, once they have searched, the backend is passing the keyword back to me so I can put it back in the box. I don't know what the string is so I can't escape quotes myself, below is an example: var keyword = "hello"; $("#selectionkeywords").val(); The issue I am having is that if the user enters "hello" the keyword becomes ""hello"" and I get this error: missing ) after argument list [Break On This Error] jQuery("#selectionkeywords").val(""hello""); The user could also enter single quotes so that rules it out as well. I tried using escape unescape but I still have the same issue e.g. escape(""hello"") I could get the value in an unescaped format e.g. "hello" but I don't know what to do with it, escape doesn't work on it I end up with this %26%23034%3Bhello%26%23034%3B So I'm pretty much stuck at the moment as I can't do anything to the string, any ideas?

So my question is: what tools can i use to detect the character set of those text? And how do i convert/encode/decode them properly in C#? • Passing a hostname of over 255 characters to getaddrinfo causes a getaddrinfo failed: memory allocat

    - by darrickc
    I am currently upgrading our software to support ipv6 and in the meantime I'm expanding hostname/ip fields to the max hostname size. In sun documentation it seems like this can be up to 1025 (netdb.h:#define NI_MAXHOST 1025 - this is the recommended hostname allocation define), but when I pass a hostname of over 255 to getaddrinfo I get "getaddrinfo failed: memory allocation failure". I am testing on a Sol10 box. Ideas?

  • Use JS to add characters into textfield

    - by Thomas
    I want to add a $ symbol before a users entry into a text field without actually submitting the $ when the user clicks submit. Additionally, I need to prohibit the user from entering anything but numerical values in to the text input. I know about the JQuery input mask (http://www.conetrees.com/2009/03/blog/jquery-masked-input-plugin-increase-usability-for-masked-format-input-fields) but this plugin requires you to set the exact number of digits/letters that the user is supposed to enter, which is no good for my current project. Can anyone think of a way to accomplish what I have described above?

  • String literals in python

    - by kjakeb
    Hello, Is there a way to declare a string variable in python such that everything inside of it is automatically escaped, or has its literal character value? I'm NOT asking how to escape the quotes with slashes, that's obvious. What I'm asking for is a general purpose way for making EVERYTHING in a string literal so that I don't have to manually go through and escape everything for very large strings. Anyone know of a solution? Thanks!

  • RegEx to Reject Unescaped Character

    - by JDV72
    I want to restrict usage of unescaped ampersands in a particular input field. I'm having trouble getting a RegEx to kill usage of "&" unless followed by "amp;"...or perhaps just restrict usage of "& " (note the space). I tried to adapt the answer in this thread, but to no avail. Thanks. (FWIW, here's a RegEx I made to ensure that a filename field didn't contain restrited chars. and ended in .mp3. It works fine, but does it look efficient?)
