  • Controls.remove() method not working in asp.net

    - by user279521
    I have a web app where the user can create dynamic textboxes at run time. When the user clicks SUBMIT, the form sends data to the database and I want remove the dynamic controls. The controls are created in the following code: Table tb = new Table(); tb.ID = "tbl"; for (i = 0; i < myCount; i += 1) { TableRow tr = new TableRow(); TextBox txtEmplName = new TextBox(); TextBox txtEmplEmail = new TextBox(); TextBox txtEmplPhone = new TextBox(); TextBox txtEmplPosition = new TextBox(); TextBox txtEmplOfficeID = new TextBox(); txtEmplName.ID = "txtEmplName" + i.ToString(); txtEmplEmail.ID = "txtEmplEmail" + i.ToString(); txtEmplPhone.ID = "txtEmplPhone" + i.ToString(); txtEmplPosition.ID = "txtEmplPosition" + i.ToString(); txtEmplOfficeID.ID = "txtEmplOfficeID" + i.ToString(); tr.Cells.Add(tc); tb.Rows.Add(tr); } Panel1.Controls.Add(tb); The Remove section of the code is: Table t = (Table)Page.FindControl("Panel1").FindControl("tbl"); foreach (TableRow tr in t.Rows) { for (i = 1; i < myCount; i += 1) { string txtEmplName = "txtEmplName" + i; tr.Controls.Remove(t.FindControl(txtEmplName)); string txtEmplEmail = "txtEmplEmail" + i; tr.Controls.Remove(t.FindControl(txtEmplEmail)); string txtEmplPhone = "txtEmplPhone" + i; tr.Controls.Remove(t.FindControl(txtEmplPhone)); string txtEmplPosition = "txtEmplPosition" + i; tr.Controls.Remove(t.FindControl(txtEmplPosition)); string txtEmplOfficeID = "txtEmplOfficeID" + i; tr.Controls.Remove(t.FindControl(txtEmplOfficeID)); } } However, the textboxes are still visible. Any ideas?

  • error in mysql syntax in vb.net

    - by user225269
    I get this error, while I'm testing the code below: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '[student](ID, LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME, SCHOOL) VALUES ('333', 'aaa', 'aaa', 'aaa')' at line 1 I just recycled the code that I used in manipulating ms sql database. So the syntax must be wrong. What might be the correct syntax for adding records into mysql database? Here is my current code: idnum = TextBox1.Text lname = TextBox2.Text fname = TextBox3.Text skul = TextBox4.Text Using sqlcon As New MySqlConnection("Server=localhost; Database=testing;Uid=root;Pwd=nitoryolai123$%^;") sqlcon.Open() Dim sqlcom As New MySqlCommand() sqlcom.Connection = sqlcon sqlcom.CommandText = "INSERT INTO [student](ID, LASTNAME, FIRSTNAME, SCHOOL) VALUES (@ParameterID, @ParameterLastName, @ParameterFirstName, @ParameterSchool)" sqlcom.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ParameterID", TextBox1.Text) sqlcom.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ParameterLastName", TextBox2.Text) sqlcom.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ParameterFirstName", TextBox3.Text) sqlcom.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ParameterSchool", TextBox4.Text) sqlcom.ExecuteNonQuery() End Using Please help, thanks

  • ASP.NET: "Object Required" when repeating LinkButtons in an UpdatePanel

    - by MStodd
    I have an UpdatePanel which has a Repeater repeating LinkButtons. When I click a LinkButton, the page does a partial postback, then I get a javascript error: "Object required". I tried debugging the javascript, but couldn't get a call stack. If I remove the UpdatePanel, the LinkButtons do a full postback, and they disappear from the page. How can I get this UpdatePanel to work? <ajax:UpdatePanel ID="wrapperUpdatePanel" runat="server" UpdateMode="Always"> <ContentTemplate> <asp:Repeater ID="endpointRepeater" runat="server" OnItemDataBound="EndpointDataBound"> <HeaderTemplate> <div class="sideTabs"> <ul> </HeaderTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <li> <asp:LinkButton ID="endpointLink" runat="server" OnClick="EndpointSelected" /> </li> </ItemTemplate> <FooterTemplate> </ul> </div> </FooterTemplate> </asp:Repeater> </ContentTemplate> </ajax:UpdatePanel> binding code: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!this.IsPostBack) { this.SelectedEndpoint = Factory.Get<IEndpoint>(Enums.EndPoints.Marketing); } IEndpointCollection col = EndpointCollection.GetActivelySubscribingEndpointsForPart(this.Item); if (this.Item.IsGdsnItem) col.Add(Factory.Get<IEndpoint>(Enums.EndPoints.Gdsn)); if (col.Count > 0) col.Insert(0, Factory.Get<IEndpoint>(Enums.EndPoints.Marketing)); this.endpointRepeater.DataSource = col; this.endpointRepeater.DataBind(); if (this.endpointRepeater.Items.Count > 0) { LinkButton lb = this.endpointRepeater.Items[0].FindControl("endpointLink") as LinkButton; this.EndpointSelected(lb, new EventArgs()); } } thanks, mark

  • WinForms / .Net interactive world map - how?

    - by FerretallicA
    In a CD collection program, I have each artist's country of origin stored in the main database and want to display a map of the world which: Colour-codes each country depending on the number of CDs by artists in that country Allows clicking on each country to filter a list of CDs to only ones by artists in that country This is a heavily simplified version of what I'm trying to do, but if I can at least get this far the rest should be easy enough to figure out. So far the closest thing I've found to what I'm trying to do is here: http://www.synergetechsolutions.com/blog/analytics-world-map-control Ideally I don't want to be embedding Flash in my program though, and the only other solutions I've found all involve SVG which I haven't managed to get working in practice outside of a web browser control (and I DEFINITELY don't want to be embedding a browser in the forms). Something in pure managed code and either GDI+ or WPF would be preferable. Are there any existing components that would get me started, or can anyone suggest how to approach it from scratch?

  • ASP.NET client side validation with dataannotations - javascript minimumlength zero

    - by Kordonme
    Hi! I'm doing client side validation on a project I'm working on. Everything works, except for the minimumlength property of the StringLength attribute (it works when submitting and a serverside validation is done): [StringLength(50, MinimumLength = 6)] The javascript generated by Html.EnableClientValication(); is the following: // snip {"FieldName":"User.Password","ReplaceValidationMessageContents":true,"ValidationMessageId":"User_Password_validationMessage","ValidationRules":[{"ErrorMessage":"The field Password must be a string with a minimum length of 6 and a maximum length of 50.","ValidationParameters":{"minimumLength":0,"maximumLength":50},"ValidationType":"stringLength"}]}],"FormId":"form0","ReplaceValidationSummary":false}) The important thing is here: {"minimumLength":0,"maximumLength":50} It produces javascript with the wrong minimumproperty. You guys have a hint? Is this a possible bug?

  • Generic Type Parameter constraints in C# .NET

    - by activwerx
    Consider the following Generic class: public class Custom<T> where T : string { } This produces the following error: 'string' is not a valid constraint. A type used as a constraint must be an interface, a non-sealed class or a type parameter. Is there another way to constrain which types my generic class can use? Also, can I constrain to multiple types? E.G. T can only be string, int or byte

  • How to unpack htmlAttributes in a span tag in ASP.NET MVC

    - by sleepy
    I have htmlAttributes generated - originally for the purpose of creating a link with the attribute using Html.ActionLink. Now, based on some condition, I would like to create a <span> tag instead and put the attributes in there. Is there anyway it can be done easily ? Eg: something like: <span <%= htmlAttributes.Unpack() %> > Some txt </span> OR <%= Html.SpanTag("Some txt", htmlAttributes) %> OR anything similar without wresling too much with the already generated htmlAttribues? Thanks

  • in asp.net mvc is it possible to register routes somewhere other than application.Start()

    - by joe q.
    Hi, is it possible to create and register routes after Application.Start() is called? let's say have a controller, PersonController. With default routing, URLs could look something like www.site.com/Person/Edit/4, with 'Person' matching the controller. now imagine I have several users, some may prefer we use the term 'Friends'. I would like to use the same controller, and have /Friends/Edit/4 map to the same controller/action/id. Maybe someone else prefers /Comrades/Edit/4. with the naming preferences stored in a database, is there a way that I can dynamically create these routes at some point mid-application, after the user has logged in? thanks!

  • Specify ApplicationName when using ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool

    - by ProfK
    This tool is supposed to configure users and roles etc., but when I use it on a new web site, with a new aspnetdb database, it adds a record to the aspnet_Applications table with the ApplicationName and the LoweredApplicationName fields set to /. I think it would make more sense if it actually used the application name, i.e. the web site name. Can I safely just change the application name? Is there a better way of configuring these things?

  • .net: does anyone know a free library to download nntp messages

    - by stighy
    hi folks, i'm using ip*works for download newsgroup message and insert them into a database... ipworks is "comfortable" to use because it automatically split nntp data return into different object (or variable). So i've "author" "date" "topic" "messagge" already splitted to my use. However ipworks isn't free and it cost a lot for my use.. so i'm asking you some component or code snippet to use to download and "manage" nntp messagges. Thanks in advance and regards!

  • ASP.NET MVC NullReferenceException when inheriting from a Base Controller

    - by rockinthesixstring
    I've got a base controller that I inherit all of my Controllers from. It's job is to basically set caching and error handling as well as check for mobile browsers. My UI works fine, but my Unit Tests are failing. Imports System.Web.Mvc <HandleError()> _ <CompressFilter()> _ <OutputCache(Duration:=30, VaryByParam:="id")> _ Public Class BaseController : Inherits System.Web.Mvc.Controller Protected Overrides Function View(ByVal viewName As String, ByVal masterName As String, ByVal model As Object) As System.Web.Mvc.ViewResult Dim ismobile As Nullable(Of Boolean) = Request.Browser.IsMobileDevice If ismobile Then Return MyBase.View(viewName, "Mobile", model) Else Return MyBase.View(viewName, "Site", model) End If End Function End Class The error I'm getting in my Unit test is on Dim ismobile As Nullable(Of Boolean) = Request.Browser.IsMobileDevice saying Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object.

  • .NET MVC Code Generation

    - by Josh
    Is there a way to force the MVC automatically generated code to follow the conventions you have set in your preferences? For example, I keep all curly braces on the same lines as their declaring class, method, etc, but when generating a controller, it completely disregards my settings. Is there a setting someplace to force the same code generation as other parts of project?

  • ASP.NET Session and target blank

    - by Lennart
    Hi I have seen a few posts regarding Session and using target blank to open a new page. But I still don´t get it. Im working with an application which opens from a link on an Intranet site. I guess it uses target blank to get it in a new window. (I don´t have the source). If both windows are closed (My application and the Intranet site) it seems like the Session is destroyed. I need that to happen when my application is closed. (ie, still leaving the Intranet site open). If I use the site in my testenvironment without opening it from a page with target blank, it seems like I get the expected behaviour. Web.config has: pages enableSessionState="true" Thanks

  • Linq ChangeConflictException (ASP.NET MVC) - occurs when submitting DataContext changes

    - by Alex
    System.Data.Linq.ChangeConflictException: 2 of X updates failed. at System.Data.Linq.ChangeProcessor.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at System.Data.Linq.DataContext.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at PROJECT.Controllers.HomeController.ClickProc(Int32 id, String code, String n) This is what I get very often. This action is done thousands of times a day, and I get this exception about once every 5 seconds. From what I understand it happens when something changes in the database in the period between creating DataContext and updating it. Am I right? What's the problem here and how can I fix it?
