  • How to stop OpenGL from applying blending to certain content? (see pics)

    - by RexOnRoids
    Supporting Info: I use cocos2d to draw a sprite (graph background) on the screen (z:-1). I then use cocos2d to draw lines/points (z:0) on top of the background -- and make some calls to OpenGL blending functions before the drawing to SMOOTH out the lines. Problem: The problem is that: aside from producing smooth lines/points, calling these OpenGL blending functions seems to "degrade" the underlying sprite (graph background). As you can see from the images below, the "degraded" background seems to be made darker and less sharp in Case 2. So there is a tradeoff: I can either have (Case 1) a nice background and choppy lines/points, or I can have (Case 2) nice smooth lines/points and a degraded background. But obviously I need both. THE QUESTION: How do I set OpenGL so as to only apply the blending to the layer with the Lines/Points in it and thus leave the background alone? The Code: I have included code of the draw() method of the CCLayer for both cases explained above. As you can see, the code producing the difference between Case 1 and Case 2 seems to be 1 or 2 lines involving OpenGL Blending. Case 1 -- MainScene.h (CCLayer): -(void)draw{ int lastPointX = 0; int lastPointY = 0; GLfloat colorMAX = 255.0f; GLfloat valR; GLfloat valG; GLfloat valB; if([self.myGraphManager ready]){ valR = (255.0f/colorMAX)*1.0f; valG = (255.0f/colorMAX)*1.0f; valB = (255.0f/colorMAX)*1.0f; NSEnumerator *enumerator = [[self.myGraphManager.currentCanvas graphPoints] objectEnumerator]; GraphPoint* object; while ((object = [enumerator nextObject])) { if(object.filled){ /*Commenting out the following two lines induces a problem of making it impossible to have smooth lines/points, but has merit in that it does not degrade the background sprite.*/ //glEnable (GL_BLEND); //glBlendFunc (GL_SRC_ALPHA, GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA); glHint (GL_LINE_SMOOTH_HINT, GL_DONT_CARE); glEnable (GL_LINE_SMOOTH); glLineWidth(1.5f); glColor4f(valR, valG, valB, 1.0); ccDrawLine(ccp(lastPointX, lastPointY), ccp(object.position.x, object.position.y)); lastPointX = object.position.x; lastPointY = object.position.y; glPointSize(3.0f); glEnable(GL_POINT_SMOOTH); glHint(GL_POINT_SMOOTH_HINT, GL_NICEST); ccDrawPoint(ccp(lastPointX, lastPointY)); } } } } Case 2 -- MainScene.h (CCLayer): -(void)draw{ int lastPointX = 0; int lastPointY = 0; GLfloat colorMAX = 255.0f; GLfloat valR; GLfloat valG; GLfloat valB; if([self.myGraphManager ready]){ valR = (255.0f/colorMAX)*1.0f; valG = (255.0f/colorMAX)*1.0f; valB = (255.0f/colorMAX)*1.0f; NSEnumerator *enumerator = [[self.myGraphManager.currentCanvas graphPoints] objectEnumerator]; GraphPoint* object; while ((object = [enumerator nextObject])) { if(object.filled){ /*Enabling the following two lines gives nice smooth lines/points, but has a problem in that it degrades the background sprite.*/ glEnable (GL_BLEND); glBlendFunc (GL_SRC_ALPHA, GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA); glHint (GL_LINE_SMOOTH_HINT, GL_DONT_CARE); glEnable (GL_LINE_SMOOTH); glLineWidth(1.5f); glColor4f(valR, valG, valB, 1.0); ccDrawLine(ccp(lastPointX, lastPointY), ccp(object.position.x, object.position.y)); lastPointX = object.position.x; lastPointY = object.position.y; glPointSize(3.0f); glEnable(GL_POINT_SMOOTH); glHint(GL_POINT_SMOOTH_HINT, GL_NICEST); ccDrawPoint(ccp(lastPointX, lastPointY)); } } } }

  • Navigation Items in Navigation Bar are not appearing?

    - by Sheehan Alam
    I am displaying a UITableViewController inside of a UITabBarController that is being presented modally: -(IBAction)arButtonClicked:(id)sender{ ARViewController* arViewController = [[[ARViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ARViewController" bundle:nil]autorelease]; LeaderBoardTableViewController* lbViewController = [[[LeaderBoardTableViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"LeaderBoardTableViewController" bundle:nil]autorelease]; lbViewController.title = @"Leaderboard"; arTabBarController = [[UITabBarController alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil]; arTabBarController.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:arViewController, lbViewController, nil]; arTabBarController.selectedViewController = arViewController; [self presentModalViewController:arTabBarController animated:YES]; } In my viewDidLoad for arViewController method I am setting the navigation items: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // Uncomment the following line to preserve selection between presentations. self.clearsSelectionOnViewWillAppear = NO; self.title = @"AR"; leaderBoardButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemOrganize target:self action:@selector(leaderBoardButtonClicked:)]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = leaderBoardButton; } My navigation bar doesn't appear when it is inside of the UITabBarController, but when I push the view itself I am able to see it. What am I missing?

  • UIWebView in multithread ViewController

    - by Tao
    I have a UIWebView in a viewcontroller, which has two methods as below. The question is if I pop out(tap back on navigation bar) this controller before the second thread is done, the app will crash after [super dealloc], because "Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread.". Any help would be really appreciated. -(void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewWillAppear:animated]; NSInvocationOperation *operation = [[NSInvocationOperation alloc] initWithTarget:self selector:@selector(load) object:nil]; [operationQueue addOperation:operation]; [operation release]; } -(void)load { [NSThread sleepForTimeInterval:5]; [self performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(done) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:NO]; }

  • Publishing similar apps in AppStore

    - by John
    Hello guys, I have some questions that I think some one here can help me ... I have published 5 apps in AppStore that brings news to the users, for different countries. One app per country, because no one want's to read the news of other countrys. Now, I have submitted 3 more apps to publish and Apple reject it, because they say that I need to use "In App Purchase" because the apps are similar ... I have seen many similar apps published by the same user .. so, my question is, how can I publish many similar apps without "In App Purchase"? I have used the same "bundle Id" for all of my apps .. Is it wrong? I need the create one bundle Id per app to get this work and the ok by Apple? Thanks you very much and sorry for my limited english!!

  • Does NSKeyedUnarchiver autorelease?

    - by Lee Probert
    I'm doing some archiving to a property list and when I unarchive my data using NSKeyedUnarchiver I find that my app crashes if I release the object afterward. I was wondering if the finishDecoding message also autoreleases the object. Seems weird that it crashes when I release it.

  • release object of a return method object c

    - by Piero
    in run the app with the analyze build, and Xcode found me a lot of memory leak and there is one in particular that i don't know how solve here it is: - (UIView *) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView viewForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { UIImageView *sectionImage = [[UIImageView alloc] init]; if (section == 0)sectionImage.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"myImage.png"]; return sectionImage; } so my question is, how i can release this sectionImage? if is the return of the method? EDIT: i have another question, analyze give me another memory leak, i have this: .h @property (nonatomic, retain) NSIndexPath *directCellPath; .m @synthesize directCellPath = _directCellPath; - (id)init{ if ((self = [super initWithNibName:@"MyViewController" bundle:nil])) { self.directCellPath = [[NSIndexPath alloc] init]; } return self; } then in the code i use it and finally in the dealloc i do this: - (void)dealloc { [_directCellPath release]; [super dealloc]; } and give me a memory leak on this line: self.directCellPath = [[NSIndexPath alloc] init]; why if i have deallocated it in the dealloc?

  • In-app subscription apps

    - by Ron Srebro
    Does anyone know of an app that implemented an in-app subscription? I thought about how the subscription model can be implemented and always ends up with more problems to every possible solution I can think of, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of an app that actually does that. Thanks

  • UIScrollView: Is 806k Image too much too handle? (Crash, out of memory)?

    - by Jordan
    I'm loading a 2400x1845 png image into a scroll view. The program crashes out of memory, is there a better way to handle this? mapScrollView is an UIScrollView in IB, along with a couple of UIButtons. -(void)loadMapWithName:(NSString *)mapName { NSString* bundlePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] bundlePath]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/path/%@", bundlePath, [maps objectForKey:mapName]]]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; CGSize imgSize = image.size; mapScrollView.contentSize = imgSize; [mapScrollView addSubview:imageView]; [imageView release]; [self.view addSubview:mapScrollView]; }

  • [ipad] Is there a SDK for the photo gallery?

    - by Rafael Steil
    The "Photos.app" in iPad has a gallery that you can browse all photos, including support for slideshow and other things. I'd like to know if this API is available (aka, not private) and which one it is (so I won't need to implement one photo gallery from scratch). I looked at http://github.com/facebook/three20, but I'm not sure if it is the same thing. Thank.

  • iPad orientation on launch problem in portrait (bottom home button)

    - by edie
    Hi.... I've an iPad app that supports all orientation... my problem was on the start up of the application. In case of landScapeRight and landScapeLeft and portrait(top home button) the views shows correctly but when the app start in portrait (bottom home button) the views show in landscape mode... I've implemented the - (void) willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)toInterfaceOrientation duration:(NSTimeInterval)duration - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation When I change the apps orientation the views shows correctly.

  • How to get title of UITabBarItem in the More section?

    - by Sheehan Alam
    I have a UITabBarControllerDelegate method that determines the title of the UITabBarItem and does something accordingly. This works well for items in my UITabBar but when I click on the More button the rest of my UITabBarItems are in a UITableView. How can I determine the title in the More section? - (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { if ([self.tabBarController.selectedViewController.title isEqualToString:@"All"]) { //do something } }

  • UIAlertView choice causing resignFirstResponder to fail

    - by Chazbot
    Hi everyone. I'm having a similar issue to Anthony Chan's question, and after trying every suggested solution, I'm still stuck. Somehow, only after interacting with my UIAlertView, I'm unable to dismiss the keyboard in another view of my app. It's as though the Alert is breaking my UITextField's ability to resignFirstResponder. Below I instantiate my UIAlertView, which then calls its didDismissWIthButtonIndex method. Then, I call the showInfo method, which loads another UIViewController. UIAlertView *emailFailAlert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Error" message:@"error message text." delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Not now" otherButtonTitles:@"Settings", nil]; [emailFailAlert setTag:2]; [emailFailAlert show]; [emailFailAlert release]; Once the 'Settings' option is pressed, I'm calling this method: - (void)alertView:(UIAlertView *)alertView didDismissWithButtonIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { if ([alertView tag] == 2) { if (buttonIndex == 1){ [self showInfo:nil]; } } } My showInfo method loads the other ViewController, via the code below: - (IBAction)showInfo:(id)sender { FlipsideViewController *fscontroller = [[FlipsideViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"FlipsideView" bundle:nil]; fscontroller.delegate = self; fscontroller.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [self presentModalViewController:fscontroller animated:YES]; [fscontroller release]; } Upon clicking any textField in this Flipside VC, I'm unable to dismiss the keyboard as I normally can with - (BOOL)textFieldShouldReturn:(UITextField *)textField, and [textField resignFirstResponder]. I've omitted this code bc this question is getting long, but I'm happy to post if necessary. The interesting part is that if I comment out the [self showInfo:nil] call made when the button is clicked and call it by clicking a test button (outside the alertView didDismissWithButtonIndex: method), everything works fine. Any idea what's happening here? Thanks in advance!

  • Several Objective-C objects become Invalid for no reason, sometimes.

    - by farnsworth
    - (void)loadLocations { NSString *url = @"<URL to a text file>"; NSStringEncoding enc = NSUTF8StringEncoding; NSString *locationString = [[NSString alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:url] usedEncoding:&enc error:nil]; NSArray *lines = [locationString componentsSeparatedByString:@"\n"]; for (int i=0; i<[lines count]; i++) { NSString *line = [lines objectAtIndex:i]; NSArray *components = [line componentsSeparatedByString:@", "]; Restaurant *res = [byID objectForKey:[components objectAtIndex:0]]; if (res) { NSString *resAddress = [components objectAtIndex:3]; NSArray *loc = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:[components objectAtIndex:1], [components objectAtIndex:2]]; [res.locationCoords setObject:loc forKey:resAddress]; } else { NSLog([[components objectAtIndex:0] stringByAppendingString:@" res id not found."]); } } } There are a few weird things happening here. First, at the two lines where the NSArray lines is used, this message is printed to the console- *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[NSCFDictionary count]: method sent to an uninitialized mutable dictionary object' which is strange since lines is definitely not an NSMutableDictionary, definitely is initialized, and because the app doesn't crash. Also, at random points in the loop, all of the variables that the debugger can see will become Invalid. Local variables, property variables, everything. Then after a couple lines they will go back to their original values. setObject:forKey never has an effect on res.locationCoords, which is an NSMutableDictionary. I'm sure that res, res.locationCoords, and byId are initialized. I also tried adding a retain or copy to lines, same thing. I'm sure there's a basic memory management principle I'm missing here but I'm at a loss.

  • Bug in UITableView: Why is the section header covered by an row after deleting an row?

    - by mystify
    When I delete a row like this, and then scroll a little bit, one of the rows of that section happens to cover the section header. - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView commitEditingStyle:(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { if (editingStyle == UITableViewCellEditingStyleDelete) { [dataManager deleteValueAtIndex:indexPath.row]; [tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; } } Is there any solution to this?

  • Left with extra UITableViewCell after re-ordering

    - by Mark F
    After going into Edit mode, moving a cell, and leaving edit mode, i am left with one extra cell sitting on top of its duplicate cell while still in edit mode. The problem has to be somewhere in here: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView moveRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)sourceIndexPath toIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)destinationIndexPath { NSMutableArray *array = [[fetchedResultsController fetchedObjects] mutableCopy]; id objectToMove = [[array objectAtIndex:sourceIndexPath.row] retain]; [array removeObjectAtIndex:sourceIndexPath.row]; [array insertObject:objectToMove atIndex:destinationIndexPath.row]; [objectToMove release]; for (int i=0; i<[array count]; i++) { [(NSManagedObject *)[array objectAtIndex:i] setValue:[NSNumber numberWithInt:i] forKey:@"userOrder"]; } [array release]; } Any guidance greatly appreciated!
