• Flash caroussel xml parse html link

- by Marvin
Hello I am trying to modify a carousel script I have in flash. Its normal function is making some icons rotate and when clicked they zoom in, fade all others and display a little text. On that text I would like to have a link like a "read more". If I use CDATA it wont display a thing, if I use alt char like <a href="www.google.com"> Read more + </a> It just displays the text as: Read more + . The flash dynamic text box wont render it as html. I dont enough as2 to figure out how to add this. My code: var xml:XML = new XML(); xml.ignoreWhite = true; //definições do xml xml.onLoad = function() { var nodes = this.firstChild.childNodes; numOfItems = nodes.length; for(var i=0;i<numOfItems;i++) { var t = home.attachMovie("item","item"+i,i+1); t.angle = i * ((Math.PI*2)/numOfItems); t.onEnterFrame = mover; t.toolText = nodes[i].attributes.tooltip; t.content = nodes[i].attributes.content; t.icon.inner.loadMovie(nodes[i].attributes.image); t.r.inner.loadMovie(nodes[i].attributes.image); t.icon.onRollOver = over; t.icon.onRollOut = out; t.icon.onRelease = released; } } And the xml: <icons> <icon image="images/product.swf" tooltip="Product" content="Hello this is some random text <a href="www.google.com"> Read More + </a> "/> </icons> Any suggestions? Thanks.

• How do I install OpenStack?

- by csgeek
Supposedly openstack can be installed easily under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I've installed 32 and 64bit versions of Ubuntu Server with the same behavior. sudo tasksel check OpenStack hit Okay then I get a tasksel: aptitude failed (100) I've seen: http://www.hastexo.com/resources/docs/installing-openstack-essex-20121-ubuntu-1204-precise-pangolin and https://github.com/EmilienM/doc-openstack documentation, but I was hoping that since it was an LTS released and it was an option in tasksel that I was simply overlooking something obvious and it's just a matter of selecting the right checkbox and hitting okay. Too much wishful thinking?

• preventing window blur/focusOut when selecting copy/paste menu

- by jedierikb
I am trying to determine when the user has moved focus out of the browser to: select copy/paste (but not to the google search box). Ffox handles this nicely. selecting another window/tab/external widget (e.g., the google search box). focusOut and blur listeners on window and document cannot seem to disambiguate between these two types of focus changes. Can IE do this? I want this distinction so that I can better support usability in my web app without losing focus.

• asp.net regex to find anchor tags and replace their url

- by ace
Hi -i'm trying to find all the anchor tags and appending the href value with a variable. for example link will become will become I'm able to match all the anchor tags and href values using regex, then i manually replace the values using string.replace, however i dont think its the efficient way to do this. Is there a solution where i can use something like regex.replace(html, newurlvalue)

• Drag and drop an image from desktop to a web text editor (implementation in javascript)

- by fatmatto
I tried to write reasonably short title but i failed i guess.. Hi everybody here's what i'm trying to do: I want to implement a web text editor able to recognize when the user drag a image file over it's editing surface and it automa(gically) starts the upload and insert the image near the cursor position. In other words i don't want the user to do the usual "insert-image-browse-ok". Atm i am not very good at javascript ... i know JQuery but i have not a clear idea about how to implement this... i don't know if there's an event handler able to help me in this situation... if not then there should be i think or web apps would miss some kind of interactivity. I've heard miracles about HTML5 could it help me? I've seen such things in Google Wave but that surface doesn't seem to be a form field... google lab's black magic i guess.... Thank you in advance.

• document.getElementByID - checking whether an element has been found or not

- by be here now
Hi, guys. Here's a sample code, that opens an internet explorer window, navigates to google, and gets some element on the page by its unique id: set ie = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application") ie.navigate("www.google.com") ie.visible = true while ie.readystate <> 4 wscript.sleep 100 WEnd set some_object = ie.document.getelementbyid("xjsc") MsgBox some_object.tagname, 0 This sample brings me a DIV popup, which satisfies me completely. But at the next step I'd like to check whether some id exists in the page, or not. Unfortunately, I can't just be, like, set some_object = ie.document.getelementbyid("some_non_existant_id") if some_object.tagname = "" then ... because it gives me the following error: ie.vbs(12, 1) Microsoft VBScript runtime error: Object required: 'some_object' So, what's the best practice to check whether an element has been found or not?

• Ugly LibreOffice font

- by tuhyk
I have been experiencing this super annoying bug with fonts in LibreOffice. Please see below screenshot. The spaces between letters are just messed, no matter what font or level of zoom I choose. When I change the zoom level, the spacing is actually changing but still looks very ugly. I have a pretty much default instalation of Ubuntu. I installed a couple of fonts (droid, mscorefonts). I did not change any font settings. Fonts in other applications looks great. When I open the very same text in Google Docs or MS Web Word, it looks perfect. I would appreciate any help concerning this issue. Thanks!

• How to approach multiple page form with just one save option

- by Dano007
The screen shot shows the magento product upload page. The left nav allows you to switch to different options for the product. Basically each option in the left nav appears as a different page. However when you save and close, it will save all the updates made on each page. Using Foundation4, html, css, js - what would be the best approach to replicating something similar? Say I want 3 pages and one save button option. Using http://foundation.zurb.com/docs/components/section.html#panel2 and having the save buttons the top line form level seems a possible option.

• How to find people to help translate my open source project?

- by elclanrs
I'm a big StackOverflow fan, but I think this question belongs here, correct me if I'm wrong. So basically I'm trying to localize my plugin in as many languages as possible. I posted a section on the docs to reach people that wants to help translating but I only got one contributor that attached a German translation. So far I got 4 languages, English, Spanish, French and German. So my question is, how do you guys translate your projects? Where do you find people interested in contributing? Does anybody use Google translate to do the job?

• how to use window.onload?

- by Patrick
I'm refactoring a website using MVC. What was a set of huge pages with javascript, php, html etc etc is becoming a series of controllers and views. I'm trying to do it in a modular way so views are split in 'modules' that I can reuse in other pages when needed eg. "view/searchform displays only one div with the searchform "view/display_events displays a list of events and so on. One of the old pages was supposed to load a google map with a marker on it. Amongst the rest of the code, I can identify the relevant bits as follows

...then
...and finally this div where the map should be displayed

Don't know much about js, but my understanding is that a) I have to include the scripts in the view module I'm writing (directly in the HTML? I would prefer to load a separate script) b) I have to trigger that function using the equivalent of body onload... (obviously there's no body tag in my view. In my ignorance I've tried div onload=.... but didn't seem to be working :) What do you suggest I do? I've read about window.onload but don't know what's the correct syntax for that. please keep in mind that other parts of the page include other js functions (eg, google adsense) that are called after the footer.

• Question about mod_rewrite rule for redirecting failing pages

- by SimpleCoder
I'm setting up a mod_rewrite rule that redirects failing pages to a custom Page Not Found page. This is with Wordpress. I'm using the guide here: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/rewrite/rewrite_guide_advanced.html#redirect404. My rule so far looks like this: RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.+) http://example.com/?page_id=254 [R] This works. It seems to be a combination of the first and second suggestion that worked, since the -U flag did nothing. My question is, out of curiosity why the following happens: When I change REQUEST_FILENAME to REQUEST_URI (as the second example suggests), the page loads, but none of the style sheets load. All of my formatting is gone, and this happens on every page. Can anyone think of why this might happen?

• How to estimate the quality of a web page?

- by roddik
Hello, I'm doing a university project, that must gather and combine data on a user provided topic. The problem I've encountered is that Google search results for many terms are polluted with low quality autogenerated pages and if I use them, I can end up with wrong facts. How is it possible to estimate the quality/trustworthiness of a page? You may think "nah, Google engineers are working on the problem for 10 years and he's asking for a solution", but if you think about it, SE must provide up-to-date content and if it marks a good page as a bad one, users will be dissatisfied. I don't have such limitations, so if the algorithm accidentally marks as bad some good pages, that wouldn't be a problem.

• What are the differences between Bigloo and ECL from an embedding standpoint? [migrated]

- by Pubby
I've been looking to embed Lisp in some C++ code. Two options I'm interested in is Bigloo Scheme and ECL (Common Lisp). Reading through the docs they seem to support a very similar feature set. Obviously Bigloo is Scheme and ECL is CLisp, but what other differences do they have? In particular I'm interested in the following criteria: Ease of embedding (for C++, not just C). I don't want to write a bunch of boilerplate. Performance. Bigloo is performance based and has many compiler optimization options, although I can't find anything comparable for ECL. Style of coding. This one is more for Bigloo - is it more functional than ECL? I'm targeting this question towards someone who has used both.

• Debian package libmarkdown-php, how can I use it? [closed]

- by JamesM-SiteGen
Hello all, I am just wondering how do you implement libmarkdown-php in a php script? By this, I mean: What code do I run to use the markdown library? Does it simply just add one function? Does it allows me to encode markdown2html and vise versa? Where is a doc for this package, I can't find one? :( Okay, so it terns out that I found the docs, just did not match them up, the project-page did not contain any info on it being the Squeeze package libmarkdown-php, Said to know it is not in Lenny. Thanks @palhmbus for matching them. :)

• Drupal 7: Documents as a node/block/field

- by WernerCD
I'm working on my first Drupal site. I've progressed in learning the basics . I still have a lot to learn tho. Using FileViewer I can load a PDF saved in a field, for view content of various types. I haven't found something that does the same for Word Docs, Excel, PDF, etc. Does anyone know of something that works in Drupal 7 to load documents other than PDF like FileViewer does inside a browser? Or like Scribd does (Scribd is hosted. I am behind a firewall with limited access for users. So I don't want to use a Scribd like service.)

• C++ - what does the colon after a constructor mean?

- by waitinforatrain
I'd happily Google this but don't know what to call it to Google it. I have a piece of code here: class demo { private: unsigned char len, *dat; public: demo(unsigned char le = 5, unsigned char default) : len(le) { dat = new char[len]; for (int i = 0; i <= le; i++) dat[i] = default; } void ~demo(void) { delete [] *dat; } }; class newdemo : public demo { private: int *dat1; public: newdemo(void) : demo(0, 0) { *dat1 = 0; return 0; } }; (It's from a past exam paper and the question is to correct errors in the code so ignore errors!) My question is, what are the ": len(le) " and " : demo(0, 0)" called? Something to do with inheritance?

• What are the advantages / disadvantages of a Cloud-based / Web-based IDE?

- by Gabe
I'm writing this as DevConnections in Las Vegas is happening. Visual Studio 2010 has been released and I now have this 3GB beast installed to my machine. (I'll admit, it has some nice features.) However, while the install was monopolizing my computer's resources I began to wish that my IDE worked more like Google Documents (instantly available, available anywhere, easy to share, easy to collaborate, naturally versioned). A few Google (and StackOverflow) searches led me to : Coderun Bespin I'm well aware that these IDE's are missing a lot of what exists in VS 2010. However, that isn't my question. Instead, I'm wondering what benefits a web-based IDE might have? Assuming a company invests the time to create the missing features, what is the downside?

• How to make Facebook like button narrower than 225px?

- by tog22
I'm generating a like button with Facebook's 'standard' layout for my site via https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ . I've set its width to 200 pixels, but notice that setting it to lower than 225 pixels has no effect, and the documentation on that page indeed specifies 225px as the minimum width for the standard layout. Unfortunately I need to make it 200 pixels wide to fit my site's design. Is there any way to force it into this width? (The site's at http://gwwc2.centreforeffectivealtruism.org/ if you want to have a play with Firebug, though the like button gets generated by javascript so you'd probably have to duplicate that page and edit its source.)

I will realy appreciate if someone enlightens me this issue, thank you.

• How to read tags out of m4a files in .NET?

- by dkackman
I've got some heavily modified code that ultimately came from the Windows Media SDK that works great for reading tags out of MP3 and WMV files. Somewhere along the line, Windows Media Player added support for .m4a files (was it in Windows 7?) but the Windows Media API doesn't seem to reflect that addition (or at least IWMMetadataEditor2::OpenEx pukes on an .m4a file). What would be some good C# code or links on how to dig meta data tags out of m4a files? (Google has come up dry on the C# front.) UPDATE AtomicParsley did indeed end being the best approach. Since that code is a command line tool however I ended up having to create a managed wrapper around some of its functionality in order to use in-process. It is posted on google code if anyone else needs such a thing.

• jar dependencies in android- no class definition found exception

- by Dave.B
I'm trying to use the gdata java client library on android and have managed a decent hack to get it working. However because the jar for gdata had some package discrepancies with android I had to import the source into my project. This source is dependent on the JavaMail API and the JavaBeans Activation Framework as specified here. My issue is that the JavaMail jar throws a class definition not found when seeking a class which is in the Activation Framework jar. A stack trace is listed below. I am working in Eclipse and have both jars in a lib folder and added to my build path. I'm not very experienced dealing with jars in a situation like this so any help or insight would be appreciated. 03-29 09:55:26.204: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): Uncaught handler: thread AsyncTask #3 exiting due to uncaught exception 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): java.lang.RuntimeException: An error occured while executing doInBackground() 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at android.os.AsyncTask$3.done(AsyncTask.java:200) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask$Sync.innerSetException(FutureTask.java:273) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask.setException(FutureTask.java:124) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask$Sync.innerRun(FutureTask.java:307) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask.run(FutureTask.java:137) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:1068) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:561) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:1096) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax.activation.DataHandler 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at javax.mail.internet.MimeBodyPart.setContent(MimeBodyPart.java:684) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at com.google.gdata.data.media.MediaBodyPart.<init>(MediaBodyPart.java:95) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at com.google.gdata.data.media.MediaMultipart.<init>(MediaMultipart.java:126) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at com.google.gdata.client.media.MediaService.insert(MediaService.java:382) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at android.os.AsyncTask$2.call(AsyncTask.java:185) 03-29 09:55:26.215: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(331): at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask$Sync.innerRun(FutureTask.java:305)
