  • dynamic char array sizing

    - by droseman
Hello, In my application, I have a char array defined which can take one of three options: "okay", "high", "low" which are then sent down a serial port to a remote device. I currently have the array sized to take the 4 character words plus carriage return and line feed, but when I have to send "low" I get a null character in the strings, which I am concerned would confuse the host terminal. array definition char mod1_status_char[6] = {'0','0','0','0','0','0'}; char mod2_status_char[6] = {'0','0','0','0','0','0'}; char mod3_status_char[6] = {'0','0','0','0','0','0'}; sample of switch case statement: void DCOKStatus(uint8_t *ptr_status) { uint8_t status = *ptr_status; switch (status) { case 0x00: strcpy(mod1_status_char, "okay"); strcpy(mod2_status_char, "okay"); strcpy(mod3_status_char, "okay"); break; case 0x10: strcpy(mod1_status_char, "okay"); strcpy(mod2_status_char, "okay"); strcpy(mod3_status_char, "low"); break; } This is the struct which makes the message string to send strcpy(MsgStatus_on.descriptor_msg, "$psu_"); MsgStatus_on.address01 = hex_addr[0]; MsgStatus_on.address02 = hex_addr[1]; MsgStatus_on.space01 = 0x20; strcpy(MsgStatus_on.cmdmsg01, "op_en op1_"); strcpy(MsgStatus_on.statusmsg01, mod1_status_char); MsgStatus_on.space02 = 0x20; strcpy(MsgStatus_on.cmdmsg02, "op2_"); strcpy(MsgStatus_on.statusmsg02, mod2_status_char); MsgStatus_on.space03 = 0x20; strcpy(MsgStatus_on.cmdmsg03, "op3_"); strcpy(MsgStatus_on.statusmsg03, mod3_status_char); MsgStatus_on.CR = 0x0D; MsgStatus_on.LF = 0x0A; and this sends the message void USARTWrite(char *object, uint32_t size) { GPIO_SetBits(GPIOB, GPIO_Pin_1); char *byte; for (byte = object; size--; ++byte) { USART_SendData(USART1,*byte); } Would anyone be able to suggest a good approach to dynamically size the array to one character shorter when I need to send "low"? Thanks

  • Problem with migrating from Texture2D to CCTexture2D (Setting CCSprite texture)

    - by marie
My problem is that whenever I change the texture of a sprite, the new texture will retain the size of the original sprite's texture. I have this code: mySprite = [CCSprite spriteWithFile:@"mySprite.png"]]; ... // change current stage here CCTexture2D *newTexture=[[[CCTexture2D alloc]initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"stage number %d.png",currentStageNumber]]]autorelease]; [mySprite setTexture:newTexture]; The new sprite is stretched or compressed depending on the size of the original sprite. If the original sprite is larger, the new texture is stretched. I didn't have this problem when I was using cocos2d v0.8 What am I doing wrong?

  • How to simulate different CPU frequency and limit RAM

    - by user351103
Hi I have to build a simulator with C#. This simulator should be able to run a second thread with configureable CPU speed and limited RAM size, e.g. 144MHz and 50 MB. Of course I know that a simulator can never be as accurate as the real hardware. But I try to get almost similar performance. At the moment I'm thinking about creating a thread which I will stop/sleep from time to time. Depending on the desired CPU speed the simulator should adjust the sleep time of this thread and therefore simulate different cpu frequency. To measure the achieved speed I though about using PerformanceCounters. But with this approach I have the problem that I don't know how to limit the RAM size the thread could use. Do you have any ideas how to realize such a simulator? Thanks in advance!!

  • How to resize a flash animation to fit HTML container?

    - by Andree
Hi there, I have a flash animation with the size of 1280x1024 and I want to embed it into an HTML file. I want the flash file to be displayed in 800x600. This is my code: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <body align="center"> <object> <param name="movie" value="/flash/connect.swf" /> <embed src="/flash/connect.swf" width="800" height="600"></embed> </object> </body> </html> Well, it doesn't work. I do have a 800x600 frame, but the flash file itself still displayed on its original size. Can someone tell me what have I done wrong here? Thanks, Andree

  • Compact Framework best practices: Building a GUI

    - by Ciaran
I'm maintaining a Windows CE app built with the .NET Framework that has about 45 forms. There are 5 'sections' which lead to the function you want. The application is 100% full screen and it is important that it can't be minimized. Since there are so many forms, it's difficult to keep track of which form should be displayed after one is closed. For this, I'm setting the form owner property before showing it, and showing the owner when closing it. I've also been advised that it is best to instantiate all forms when the application loads, and not dispose them to save processing time. I'm not sure about this. My question is, what is the best way to go about showing, hiding forms where you want any 1 form to be in front, full screen all time?

  • Continual crashing in MKMapView annotationContainer:viewForAnnotation

    - by Oscar Goldman
I've looked at other reports on this, and none seems to apply. Our app is being crippled by frequent (but not reliably reproducible) crashes like this: Reports of this turn up a lot on the Web, but many seem to go unsolved. I'm not doing anything crazy, just showing the user position and one marker on the map. I followed the examples I could find, and I've looked at the code for goofs but can't find any. Here's how my MapView delegate handles viewForAnnotation: The crash appears to be associated with a change in the user's location, but once the user-location marker is added, I don't mess with it. When I need to refresh the one other map marker, I skip the user marker when removing the other one: The delegate is the controller for the whole screen, so it's not being deallocated; the crash occurs while the screen is up. Not that it matters, but the map display looks like this: Any guesses or insight would be much appreciated! This is on iOS 5.0.1.

  • How can I stop sorl thumbnail from breaking with very long filenames?

    - by bitbutter
I've noticed that when working with SORL thumbnail, sometimes a user will upload an image with a very long filename, longer than the varfield in the database can hold. The name gets truncated in the database and the project gives errors whenever the image is requested. Is there a smart and safe way to have django automatically truncate long filenames in sorl uploads (prior to saving them in the database) to prevent this sort of thing? As reference, here's how the relevant model from my current project looks: class ArtistImage(models.Model): artist = models.ForeignKey(Artist) position = models.IntegerField() image = ThumbnailField( thumbnail_tag='<span class="artistimagewrapper"><img class="artistimage" src="%(src)s" width="%(width)s" height="%(height)s"></span>', upload_to='uploaded_images/artistimages', size=(900,900), quality=100, options={'crop': 'center'}, extra_thumbnails={ 'small':{ 'size':(92,92), 'quality':100, 'options':{'crop': 'center'}, } } ) class Meta: ordering = ('image',) def __unicode__(self): return (u"%s" % self.image)

  • Tiny flash in safari - very strange bug!

    - by Tom
We have a flash file that in every other browser displays at its correct size (which is something like 1600px) however, in safari it appears tiny. We have also noticed that sometimes when the flash file is not cached it appears at normal size, then after a soft refresh the flash goes tiny again. We are using mootools to include the flash but I've also tried just using flash's HTML/Javascript with the publish function, we still have the same problem with it being tiny in safari. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? Thanks Tom

  • WPF and windows tiling

    - by SwiftLion
I have a WPF application that will always run on windows 7, it opens and displays in full-screen mode There is a button within WPF app that opens up Word I would like the WPF application on opening up Word to send a command to the operating system so that it tiles both the WPF application and the Word application windows side by side, so that they each take up 50% of screen each. Is this possible? if yes would anyone know what the code may be? ( a bit like when you right click on windows 7 task bar and click Show Windows Side by Side)

  • width of a frustum at a given distance from the near plane

    - by structolite
I'm using CML to manage the 3D math in an OpenGL-based interface project I'm making for work. I need to know the width of the viewing frustum at a given distance from the eye point, which is kept as a part of a 4x4 matrix that represents the camera. My goal is to position gui objects along the apparent edge of the viewport, but at some distance into the screen from the near clipping plane. CML has a function to extract the planes of the frustum, giving them back in Ax + By + Cz + D = 0 form. This frustum is perpendicular to the camera, which isn't necessarily aligned with the z axis of the perspective projection. I'd like to extract x and z coordinates so as to pin graphical elements to the sides of the screen at different distances from the camera. What is the best way to go about doing it? Thanks!

  • More efficient way of updating UI from Service than intents?

    - by Donal Rafferty
I currently have a Service in Android that is a sample VOIP client so it listens out for SIP messages and if it recieves one it starts up an Activity screen with UI components. Then the following SIP messages determine what the Activity is to display on the screen. For example if its an incoming call it will display Answer or Reject or an outgoing call it will show a dialling screen. At the minute I use Intents to let the Activity know what state it should display. An example is as follows: Intent i = new Intent(); i.setAction(SIPEngine.SIP_TRYING_INTENT); i.putExtra("com.net.INCOMING", true); sendBroadcast(i); Intent x = new Intent(); x.setAction(CallManager.SIP_INCOMING_CALL_INTENT); sendBroadcast(x); Log.d("INTENT SENT", "INTENT SENT INCOMING CALL AFTER PROCESSINVITE"); So the activity will have a broadcast reciever registered for these intents and will switch its state according to the last intent it received. Sample code as follows: SipCallListener = new BroadcastReceiver(){ @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { String action = intent.getAction(); if(SIPEngine.SIP_RINGING_INTENT.equals(action)){ Log.d("cda ", "Got RINGING action SIPENGINE"); ringingSetup(); } if(CallManager.SIP_INCOMING_CALL_INTENT.equals(action)){ Log.d("cda ", "Got PHONE RINGING action"); incomingCallSetup(); } } }; IntentFilter filter = new IntentFilter(CallManager.SIP_INCOMING_CALL_INTENT); filter.addAction(CallManager.SIP_RINGING_CALL_INTENT); registerReceiver(SipCallListener, filter); This works however it seems like it is not very efficient, the Intents will get broadcast system wide and Intents having to fire for different states seems like it could become inefficient the more I have to include as well as adding complexity. So I was wondering if there is a different more efficient and cleaner way to do this? Is there a way to keep Intents broadcasting only inside an application? Would callbacks be a better idea? If so why and in what way should they be implemented?

  • UITableView's cellForRowAtIndexPath is not getting called after low memory warning

    - by Jinesh
I am new to COCOA and Objective C. I am working on an application which have two controllers with one table view in each, clicking an item form this table will lead to another controller to be pushed to the stack. All was working fine till i started handling low memory warning in app delegate. What i am doing in app delegate's applicationDidReceiveMemoryWarning is, deleting all of my model and popping out all controllers to its root view using popToRootViewControllerAnimated. Now my problem starts, once low mem warning is received table's cellForRowAtIndexPath is not getting called. All other methods of UITableViewDataSource is properly called. What i get on screen is a blank white screen. I am testing my app in iPhone OS 3.0 and development is done in Xcode V 3.1.3. Hope you guys can help me to nail this. Thanks in advance, Jinesh.

  • Someone is using the struct name as a variable name too. What does the code really say? (c++)

    - by EvilTeach
This morning we found an old chunk of code that was causing a library call to crash. struct fred { int a; int b; int c; }; fred fred[MAX_SIZE+1]; memset( fred, 0, sizeof(fred) * MAX_SIZE+1 ); It appears that the sizeof(fred) may have been the full array size, rather than the structure size, as it was overwriting a great deal of memory. The fact that it compiled without warning on several different systems seemed odd. Is there a correct semantic for this case where the type and variable name are colliding? or is this some sort of undefined behavior? or just a defect? I haven't been been clever enough to find anything on Google or our language help. Thanks Evil

  • Cheat sheet exhibiting bash shell stdout/stderr redirection behavior

    - by SetJmp
Is there a good cheat sheet demonstrating the many uses of BASH shell redirection? I would love to give such a thing to my students. Some examples I'd like to see covered: cmd > output_file.txt #redirect stdout to output_file.txt cmd 2> output_file.txt #redirect stderr to output_file.txt cmd >& outpout_file.txt #redirect both stderr and stdout to output_file.txt cmd1 | cmd2 #pipe cmd1 stdout to cmd2's stdin cmd1 2>&1 | cmd2 #pipe cmd1 stdout and stderr to cmd2's stdin cmd1 | tee result.txt #print cmd1's stdout to screen and also write to result.txt cmd1 2>&1 | tee result.txt #print stdout, stderr to screen while writing to result.txt (or we could just make this a community wiki and enumerate such things here) Thanks! • Redundant margins when adding ImageView to ScrollView in Android.

    - by Shmuel Meymann
Hi.. I have been trying to use a ScrollView on a single ImageView with a JPG (~770 x 1024) over an AVD that's 600x800. My main.xml is: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <ScrollView android:id="@+id/scroller" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> </LinearLayout> Now, I add a single ImageView with setContentView(R.layout.main); ScrollView sv = (ScrollView)findViewById( R.id.scroller ); ImageView iv = new ImageView(this); iv.setImageDrawable( new BitmapDrawable( "/sdcard/770x1024.jpg" ) ); // same happens with ScaleDrawable. iv.setScaleType( ScaleType.CENTER_INSIDE ); sv.addView( sv ); // and it does not go any better if I use Linear Layout between the ScrollView and the ImageView. The result is The image was displayed in a middle of a ScrollView, wrapped with background area on top and bottom as following: ##### ##### image . . . ##### ##### Where ##### stands for background area I tried to set the background of the ImageView red, and it verified that the blank margins were ImageView background. iv.setBackgroundColor( color.Red ); Where I would expect the image to take no more than its size (scaled to the AVD size) and I expect the ScrollView to let me scroll over the remainder (if any). For some reason, I see that the drawable size is 600x1024. Moreover I tried to add a LinearLayout with a dummy text view such as the linear layout is a parent to the ImageView and the TextView, and the ScrollView is a parent to the LinearLayout. LinearLayout dummy = new LinearLayout( this ); dummy.addView(iv); TextView someTextView = new TextView( this ); someTextView.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams( LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT )); dummy.addView( someTextView ); sv.addView( dummy ); The result was very peculiar: The entire layout was set into the width of a text-less text view (19). It is important for me to avoid stretching the image. What is the recommended way to implement a display of a page that can be potentially scrolled? Do I have to do it manually with a plain layout and scrolling upon OnMove events? Thanks Shmuel

  • Jwplayer 6: html5 fullscreen when video clicked to play

    - by caaruiz
I want to be able to use jwplayer so that when the user clicks on the video the video will start to play in fullscreen mode. I want this functionality to work on mobile devices that support html5. If the video is played on a mobile device it will take up the whole screen. Youtube and Vimeo currently do this on mobile devices. The Link Below uses Html5 video tag, which plays in fullscreen on mobile device when the video is clicked on. The only way I that I know that jwplayer allows fullscreen is that I manually click on the fullscreen button, but it would be nice to only click on the video to trigger the video to play in full screen.

  • actionscript flex, how to send browser width to the swf itself

    - by touB
I'm working with flex, but actionscript ideas are just as good. The flex <s:Application> tag has height="100%" width="100%" so the swf fits the browser as the browser gets resized. My problem is that I have a <s:Label> that I need to position based on the real/current size of the browser. <s:Application height="100%" width="100%"> ..... <s:Label text="hello" x="?" y=">" /> </s:Application> I heard it's possible to use Application.application.width; but I get a compile error, that it doesn't know what that is. Any ideas how to do this. I'm trying to get the current size of the swf in the browser, as the browser resizes.

  • Defining where on the page the flowdocument I am printing will 'start' and 'end'

    - by Sagi1981
    Dear community. I am almost done with implementing a printing functionality, but I am having trouble getting the last hurdle done with. My problem is, that I am printing some reports, consisting of a header (with information about the person the report is about), a footer (with a page number) and the content in the middle, which is a FlowDocument. Since the flowdocuments can be fairly long, It is very possible that they will span multiple pages. My approach is to make a custom FlowDocumentPaginator which derives from DocumentPaginator. In there i define my header and my footer. However, when I print my page, the flowdocument and my header and footer are on top of eachother. So my question is plain and simple - how do I define from where and to where the flowdocument part on the pages will be placed? here is the code from my custommade Paginator: public class HeaderedFlowDocumentPaginator : DocumentPaginator { private DocumentPaginator flowDocumentpaginator; public HeaderedFlowDocumentPaginator(FlowDocument document) { flowDocumentpaginator = ((IDocumentPaginatorSource) document).DocumentPaginator; } public override bool IsPageCountValid { get { return flowDocumentpaginator.IsPageCountValid; } } public override int PageCount { get { return flowDocumentpaginator.PageCount; } } public override Size PageSize { get { return flowDocumentpaginator.PageSize; } set { flowDocumentpaginator.PageSize = value; } } public override IDocumentPaginatorSource Source { get { return flowDocumentpaginator.Source; } } public override DocumentPage GetPage(int pageNumber) { DocumentPage page = flowDocumentpaginator.GetPage(pageNumber); ContainerVisual newVisual = new ContainerVisual(); newVisual.Children.Add(page.Visual); DrawingVisual header = new DrawingVisual(); using (DrawingContext dc = header.RenderOpen()) { //Header data } newVisual.Children.Add(header); DrawingVisual footer = new DrawingVisual(); using (DrawingContext dc = footer.RenderOpen()) { Typeface typeface = new Typeface("Trebuchet MS"); FormattedText text = new FormattedText("Page " + (pageNumber + 1).ToString(), CultureInfo.CurrentCulture, FlowDirection.LeftToRight, typeface, 14, Brushes.Black); dc.DrawText(text, new Point(page.Size.Width - 100, page.Size.Height-30)); } newVisual.Children.Add(footer); DocumentPage newPage = new DocumentPage(newVisual); return newPage; } } And here is the printdialogue call: private void btnPrint_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { try { PrintDialog printDialog = new PrintDialog(); if (printDialog.ShowDialog() == true) { FlowDocument fd = new FlowDocument(); MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream(ASCIIEncoding.Default.GetBytes(<My string of text - RTF formatted>)); TextRange tr = new TextRange(fd.ContentStart, fd.ContentEnd); tr.Load(stream, DataFormats.Rtf); stream.Close(); fd.ColumnWidth = printDialog.PrintableAreaWidth; HeaderedFlowDocumentPaginator paginator = new HeaderedFlowDocumentPaginator(fd); printDialog.PrintDocument(paginator, "myReport"); } } catch (Exception ex) { //Handle } }

  • Freetype2 failing under WoW64

    - by Necrolis
I built a tff to D3D texture function using freetype2(2.3.9) to generate grayscale maps from the fonts. it works great under native win32, however, on WoW64 it just explodes (well, FT_Done and FT_Load_Glyph do). from some debugging, it seems to be a problem with HeapFree as called by free from FT_Free. I know it should work, as games like WCIII, which to the best of my knowledge use freetype2, run fine, this is my code, stripped of the D3D code(which causes no problems on its own): FT_Face pFace = NULL; FT_Error nError = 0; FT_Byte* pFont = static_cast<FT_Byte*>(ARCHIVE_LoadFile(pBuffer,&nSize)); if((nError = FT_New_Memory_Face(pLibrary,pFont,nSize,0,&pFace)) == 0) { FT_Set_Char_Size(pFace,nSize << 6,nSize << 6,96,96); for(unsigned char c = 0; c < 95; c++) { if(!FT_Load_Glyph(pFace,FT_Get_Char_Index(pFace,c + 32),FT_LOAD_RENDER)) { FT_Glyph pGlyph; if(!FT_Get_Glyph(pFace->glyph,&pGlyph)) { LOG("GET: %c",c + 32); FT_Glyph_To_Bitmap(&pGlyph,FT_RENDER_MODE_NORMAL,0,1); FT_BitmapGlyph pGlyphMap = reinterpret_cast<FT_BitmapGlyph>(pGlyph); FT_Bitmap* pBitmap = &pGlyphMap->bitmap; const size_t nWidth = pBitmap->width; const size_t nHeight = pBitmap->rows; //add to texture atlas } } } } else { FT_Done_Face(pFace); delete pFont; return FALSE; } FT_Done_Face(pFace); delete pFont; return TRUE; } ARCHIVE_LoadFile returns blocks allocated with new. As a secondary question, I would like to render a font using pixel sizes, I came across FT_Set_Pixel_Sizes, but I'm unsure as to whether this stretches the font to fit the size, or bounds it to a size. what I would like to do is render all the glyphs at say 24px (MS Word size here), then turn it into a signed distance field in a 32px area. Update After much fiddling, I got a test app to work, which leads me to think the problems are arising from threading, as my code is running in a secondary thread. I have compiled freetype into a static lib using the multithread DLL, my app uses the multithreaded libs. gonna see if i can set up a multithreaded test. Also updated to 2.4.4, to see if the problem was a known but fixed bug, didn't help however. Update 2 After some more fiddling, it turns out I wasn't using the correct lib for 2.4.4 -.- after fixing that, the test app works 100%, but the main app still crashes when FT_Done_Face is called, still seems to be a crash in the memory heap management of windows. is it possible that there is a bug in freetype2 that makes it blow up under user threads?

  • Reset Java Applet on page reload

    - by tommy-susanto
I need to quit firefox and restart it in order for the applet to be refreshed... its anoying since i'm still programming it an the class files changes... am i missing some codes which makes it unable to refresh the applet and still take the one from the cache??? So I have a .jar applet in my website, a simulation game that spawns army whenever user clicks on the screen... however whenever I refresh the page, the previous army are still there on the screen.. I want it to be refreshed (as if we're just starting to run the application the first time). I already tried pressing CTRL+f5 but the trick doesn't seem to work I'd basically like to do it automatically using scripts or something, so that it won't require user to manually press some button on the keyboard Any Suggestions? I'd really appreciate it Thank you....

  • Animating resizing and moving UIView at the same time

    - by chouchou
I'd like to "Stretch" a UIView to the right side, meaning increase it's frame.size.width by foo pixels and at the same time decreasing it's frame.origin.x by foo pixels, using [UIView beginAnimations] syntax. However, if I do that, when the animation begins the view immediately resizes, and then starts the animation for the origin. CGRect currFrame = someView.frame; currFrame.size.width += 100; currFrame.origin.x -= 100; [UIView beginAnimations:@"Anim1" context:nil]; someView.frame = currFrame; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.7]; [UIView commitAnimations]; I've also tried breaking the animation down to 2 parts but then I can't keep the right position in place. Any help is much appreciated!

  • Is WPF Decorator class useful?

    - by darja
I need to create control to draw border around its child. So, I have created class and derived it from Decorator: class RoundedBoxDecorator : Decorator { protected override Size ArrangeOverride(Size arrangeSize) { //some source } protected override void OnRender(DrawingContext dc) { //some source } } It works fine, but I have some doubts about using Decorator as ancestor. I have found in MSDN that there are no special methods or properties in it, only derived from its ancestors (UIElement or FrameworkElement). ArrangeOverride and OnRender are also derived. So, what for Decorator class was designed and does it makes sense to use it? Or I can derive from FrameworkElement?

  • Background settings for a JDesktopPane

    - by EricR
    I'm using a self-made DesktopPaneUI for a JDesktopPane, I've written the proper methods for the class, and I'm running into trouble. When I resize the JDesktopPane, the background image doesn't resize with the frame. The image appears to be clipped at the size it was when the window initially opened. I'm giving it an image larger than the window, and I'm still having this problem. Here's my method call inside the constructor of my desktopUI class. super(); this.background = javax.imageio.ImageIO.read(new File(fileName)); Is there a way I can change my main class where I set the UI, or the myDesktopPaneUI class such that the background still fills the window when the JDesktopPane changes size? setUI(new myDesktopPaneUI("media/bg.jpg"));
