  • Webbrowser javascript errors

    - by Gaby
HI, I use a WebBrowser control to navigate to a html page which contains JavaScript. When I open this page in the IE browser no JavaScript error is shown and the page is displayed and functions perfectly. But when navigating to the same page with the WebBrowser control, a pop-up appears to inform about a Script error. I have tried to suppress the script error with the ScriptErrorsSuppressed property but now another pop-up comes up with the title "Visual Studio Just-In-Time Debugger" and proposes to debug. How can i disable all the errors?

  • Example of code generator you made from scratch?

    - by rosscj2533
What are some examples of code generators you have used? I think it's a cool idea, but I have trouble thinking of things they can do besides make a class based on an object's attributes/database schema (as described in The Pragmatic Programmer). What language did you write them in and what language did they output? Edit: Thanks for the responses so far. What I am really looking for is examples of code generators made from scratch for some certain purpose. I mentioned it in the title, but didn't make it very clear in my question. How did you go about making a code generator on your own and what specificly did it achieve?

  • Ruby on Rails: How to verify haml files syntax within rails project?

    - by Acidburn2k
I've installed HAML into my project and it is working like a charm - the templates are beeing rendered without a problem. My question is how can I do the rendering on the command line, by using HAML program. That would be super for debugging purposes, meantime while I try to compile HAML file I get the error on first Rails related Ruby code to be found: % cat app/views/dashboard/index.html.haml - title "Home" %p Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet... % haml app/views/dashboard/index.html.haml Exception on line 1: undefined method `title' for #<Object:0xb73283b0> Use --trace for backtrace. Page is rendered fine returned correctly through the webserver.

  • Displaying most popular posts on my blog - Ruby on Rails

    - by bgadoci
I have created a simple blog application using Ruby on Rails, both of which I am new to. I am trying to get my most 'voted' posts to display in my /views/posts/index.html.erb view. Here are the basics. I have created a votes table and successfully allow a user to 'vote' for a post on the /views/posts/show.html.erb page. When they vote, it passes '1' to the votes table and I return the vote count via ajax to the same show page. Vote belongs_to :post and Post has_many :votes. I would like to display in /views/posts/index.html.erb the post title and the amount of times it has been voted for, ordered by posts with the highest vote count. Any ideas on how to do this?

  • Questions and considerations to ask client for designing a database

    - by Julia
Hi guys! so as title says, I would like to hear your advices what are the most important questions to consider and ask end-users before designing database for their application. We are to make database-oriented app, with special attenion to pay on db security (access control, encryption, integrity, backups)... Database will also keep some personal information about people, which is considered sensitive by law regulations, so security must be good. I worked on school projects with databases, but this is first time working "in real world", where this db security has real implications. So I found some advices and questions to ask on internet, but here I always get best ones. All help appreciated! Thank you!

  • Asynchronous email processing in Java web application

    - by Denise
Hi everyone, I would like to implement asynchronous email sending in my web application when users register for a new account. This is so that if there is a problem or delay in sending the email message (e.g. the mail server is down or the network connection to the mail server is slow) the user won't be kept waiting for the sending to complete. My web app is built using Spring and Hibernate's implementation of JPA. What would be the best and most reliable way for me to implement asynchronous email processing in this web application? I am thinking about persisting the email information in a database table which is then regularly polled by a Quartz (http://www.opensymphony.com/quartz/) scheduled job for updates and when it finds new unsent emails, it attempts to send them. Is this a reasonable way of implementing what I want? Thanks.

  • JS Anonymous Scope...

    - by Simon
this Application.EventManager.on('Click', function(args) { // event listener, args is JSON TestAction.getContents(args.node.id, function(result, e) { console.log(result); this.add({ title: args.node.id, html: result }).show(); }); }); I'm really struggling with scope and anonymous functions... I want this (on the 1st line) to be the same object as this (on the 5th line)... .call() and .apply() seemed to be the right sort of idea but I don't want to trigger the event... just change it's scope.... For a bit of contexts... the this in question is a TabContainer and TestAction is a RPC that returns content... Thanks....

  • Google Maps v3 InfoWindow Too Wide

    - by ryan
In Google Maps v3, I can't seem to get my infoWindow to a width smaller than 200px. Here is the code I'm using: var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(-34.397, 150.644); var myOptions = { zoom: 15, center: latlng, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP }; var myMap = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), myOptions); var gmarker = new google.maps.Marker({position: latLng,title:'Example'} ); var infoWindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow(); infoWindow.setOptions({maxWidth: 110}); window_content = '<div style="width:110px;height:110px;">Test</div>'; infoWindow.setContent(window_content); infoWindow.open(myMap, gmarker); Is there a way to get the infoWindow more narrow? Or am I stuck with a minimum width?

  • Bash: how to interrupt this script when there's a CTRL-C?

    - by WizardOfOdds
I wrote a tiny Bash script to find all the Mercurial changesets (starting from the tip) that contains the string passed in argument: #!/bin/bash CNT=$(hg tip | awk '{ print $2 }' | head -c 3) while [ $CNT -gt 0 ] do echo rev $CNT hg log -v -r$CNT | grep $1 let CNT=CNT-1 done If I interrupt it by hitting ctrl-c, more often than not the command currently executed is "hg log" and it's that command that gets interrupted, but then my script continues. I was then thinking of checking the return status of "hg log", but because I'm piping it into grep I'm not too sure as to how to go about it... How should I go about exiting this script when it is interrupted? (btw I don't know if that script is good at all for what I want to do but it does the job and anyway I'm interested in the "interrupted" issue)

  • Can Core Data be used on Linux?

    - by glenc
This might be a stupid question, but I was wondering whether or not you can use the Core Data libraries on Linux at all? I'm planning how to build the server side of an iPhone app that I'm working on, and have found that you can use PyObjC to get access to Core Data in a Python environment, e.g. use Core Data in a TurboGears web application. At this point I'm thinking that you would have to run the web server on Mac OSX, because I can't find any evidence on the internet that you can access the Objective-C libraries on Linux. I've always written webapps on Linux but will obviously make the jump to an OSX server if it allows me to use the same datastore implementation on the iPhone and the server, the only job remaining being the Core Data <- Web Services XML translation that has to happen on the wire.

  • OpenFileDialog.AutoUpgradeEnabled doesn't work under Vista or 7?

    - by Digiku
If I specify OpenFileDialog.AutoUpgradeEnabled = true, my program still shows the old XP-style dialog. Any idea why this would happen? This is after I enable theming in Main() [STAThread] static void Main() { Application.EnableVisualStyles(); Application.Run(new Primary()); } and this is my dialog code: private void OpenProgramFile() { OpenFileDialog programFileDialog = new OpenFileDialog(); programFileDialog.Filter = "Program files (*.exe;*.lnk)|*.exe|All files (*.*)|*.*"; programFileDialog.FilterIndex = 0; programFileDialog.Title = "Select program file"; programFileDialog.AutoUpgradeEnabled = true; programFileDialog.ShowHelp = true; DialogResult fileResult = programFileDialog.ShowDialog(); if (fileResult != DialogResult.OK) return false; programFileDialog.Dispose(); } So why would AutoUpgradeEnabled not work?

  • ASP.NET treeview populate child nodes. How can I avoid a postback to server?

    - by mas_oz2k1
    I am trying to test populate on demand for a treeview. I follow the procedure from these links: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/e8z5184w.aspx But the treeview still make a postback to the server if I expanded one of the tree nodes (If you put a breakpoint in the first line of Page_load event), thus refreshing the whole page. I am using VS2005 and Asp.net 2.0 (but the same issue occurs in VS2008) My simple test page markup is: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="aspTreeview.aspx.cs" Inherits="aspTreeview" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head runat="server"> <title>Untitled Page</title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <table> <tr> <td style="height: 80%; width: 45%;"> <asp:Panel ID="Panel1" runat="server" BorderColor="#0033CC" BorderStyle="Solid" ScrollBars="Both"> <asp:TreeView ID="TreeView1" runat="server" ShowLines="True" PopulateNodesFromClient="True" EnableClientScript="True" NodeWrap="True" ontreenodepopulate="TreeView1_TreeNodePopulate" ExpandDepth="0"> </asp:TreeView> </asp:Panel> </td> <td style="width: 10%; height: 80%;" > <div> <asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="->" onclick="Button1_Click" /> </div> <div> <asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server" Text="<-" /> </div> </td> <td style="width: 136px; height: 80%"> <asp:Panel ID="Panel2" runat="server" BorderColor="Lime" BorderStyle="Solid"> <asp:TreeView ID="TreeView2" runat="server" ShowLines="True" ExpandDepth="0"> </asp:TreeView> </asp:Panel> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td style="width: 136px"> </td> </tr> </table> </div> </form> </body> </html> The code behind is: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { Debug.WriteLine("Page_Load started."); if (!IsPostBack) { if (Request.Browser.SupportsCallback) Debug.WriteLine("Browser supports callback scripts."); for (int i = 0; i < 3; i++) { TreeNode node = new TreeNode("ENTRY " + i.ToString()); node.Value = i.ToString(); node.PopulateOnDemand = true; node.Expanded = false; TreeView1.Nodes.Add(node); } } Debug.WriteLine("Page_Load finished."); } protected void TreeView1_TreeNodePopulate(object sender, TreeNodeEventArgs e) { TreeNode targetNode = e.Node; for (int j = 0; j < 4200; j++) { TreeNode subnode = new TreeNode(String.Format("Sub ENTRY {0} {1}", targetNode.Value, j)); subnode.PopulateOnDemand = true; subnode.Expanded = false; targetNode.ChildNodes.Add(subnode); } }

  • How to create a custom "render :my_format => argument" in rails 2.3(.5)?

What are the steps I need to make it work? Thanks in advance!

  • geo-indexing: efficiently calculating proximity based on latitude/longitude

    - by AnC
My simple web app (WSGI, Python) supports text queries to find items in the database. Now I'd like to extend this to allow for queries like "find all items within 1 mile of {lat, long}". Of course that's a complex job if efficiency is a concern, so I'm thinking of a dedicated external module that does indexing for geo-coordinates - sort of like Lucene would for text. I assume a generic component like this already exists, but haven't been able to find anything so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • My app has some basic problems, and it stops working

    - by user2882662
I am writing a basic application which contains two activities. Both contain a TextView showing the title and the first one contains an EditText in which the user types a message and clicks on a button on its side, the second activity is launched which shows the message the user types. It has the following problems: The title (the first TextView in both the activities) doesn't show in the middle of the line, despite of the android:gravity="center_horizontal" attribute. The EditText in the first activity does not show at all. When I click on the button, the app stops saying "Unfortunately Write n Display and stopped.", rather than launching the second activity at all. I don't have adequate knowledge about logcat, but I have followed the steps somebody had told me, that is WindowOpen Perspective Other DDMS Then run the app and select the package name from the Devices and click on log cat, select the exception(s) and export to text file. • Convert graph in to data points using Mechanical Turk?

    - by user224303
I looked around but did not see anyone using Mechanical Turk for this. I've heard of the service, but never used it before. I need to take the following graph and digitize it so I get a list of data points for each line (noting that there are two Y-axes, and thus depends on which line we are talking about). This is pretty time consuming for me, and I saw other posts on StackOverflow about digitizing software doing a poor job at this. Would Mechanical Turk be well suited to my task? Here is the graph for reference: http://www.yourpicturehost.com/dyno_hbspeed.jpg

  • Wrap text around an image in rails and prawn

    - by stevenheidel
I have a document with dynamic image and dynamic text and would like the text around the image. The image is right aligned on the landscape page. Here is what I have so far: pdf.bounding_box([0,pdf.bounds.top - 50], :width => pdf.bounds.width, :height => pdf.bounds.height-50) do pdf.text @article.title, :size => 30, :style => :bold pdf.text @article.content, :align => :left # image pdf.bounding_box([pdf.bounds.right - 250, pdf.bounds.top], :width => 250, :height => 250) do pdf.image image_path, :width => 250 end end The text goes right underneath the image. I tried doing this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2085151/ruby-prawn-how-to-wrap-text-around-an-aligned-right-image but it didn't work. Help is appreciated, thanks.

  • What are some interesting fringe programming topics that might have hands-on training?

    - by hal10001
Whenever training topic questions are asked, the answers are fairly typical, and involve a pretty limited subset of topics like OO, design patterns, algorithms, web services, SQL, etc., but I wonder if there are some fringe topics that are still applicable to the programming field and would give me a more rounded approach to development. When I think of "fringe", I think of 2600: The Hacker Quarterly articles that discuss how to use real world (sometimes obscure) exploits, or something like Maker Faire that demonstrates embedded systems programming using Arduino. I have around $1500-2000 to spend, and my job entails Java technologies, but that does not limit my options.

  • How do I embed an expect script that takes in arguments into a bash shell script?

    - by fzkl
I am writing a bash script which amongst many other things uses expect to automatically run a binary and install it by answering installer prompts. I was able to get my expect script to work fine when the expect script is called in my bash script with the command "expect $expectscriptname $Parameter". However, I want to embed the expect script into the shell script instead of having to maintain two separate script files for the job. I searched around and found that the procedure to embed expect into bash script was to declare a variable like VAR below and then echo it.: VAR=$(expect -c " #content of expect script here ") echo "$VAR" 1) I don't understand how echoing $VAR actually runs the expect script. Could anyone explain? 2) I am not sure how to pass $Parameter into VAR or to the echo statement. This is my main concern. Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Documenting module/class/function bodies in python sphinx docs

    - by perrierism
Is there a way with Sphinx documentation to output a function or class body (the code itself) with the autodoc feature? I'm using autodoc to much success. In addition to the docstrings getting pulled in to the documentation I want like a link to click for each function where it will show you the source... is that possible? This is about what most of my documentation looks like now: .. module:`foo.mymodule` Title =================== .. automodule:: foo.mymodule .. autoclass:: MyModulesClass :members: :undoc-members:

  • Timed email reminder in python

I have written up a python script that allows a user to input a message, his email and the time and they would like the email sent. This is all stored in a mysql database. However, how do I get the script to execute on the said time and date? will it require a cron job? I mean say at 2:15 on april 20th, the script will search the database for all times of 2:15, and send out those emails. But what about for emails at 2:16? I am using a shared hosting provided, so cant have a continously running script. Thanks

  • Interviewing - convincing young interviewers that my experience matters [closed]

    - by ritu
As requested, I split this question from a two part question I asked at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2482071/modern-web-development-general-question My question is how do i convince the young programmers who interview me that my years of system programming experience, MFC, Win32 programming are still relevant and I should not be automatically rejected because I don't know the differences between Drupal and <pick your technology>. It seems like I can ask a dozen question that these guys won't be able to answer but somehow because I don't know the latest fad counts against me. I do read, but if you don't use what you read in your daily work, you will never have expert knowledge of it. So bottom line: is the only way for me to take a .NET or Java job is for me to start at the bottom all over?

  • BioPython: extracting sequence IDs from a Blast output file

    - by Jon
Hi, I have a BLAST output file in XML format. It is 22 query sequences with 50 hits reported from each sequence. And I want to extract all the 50x22 hits. This is the code I currently have, but it only extracts the 50 hits from the first query. from Bio.Blast import NCBIXM blast_records = NCBIXML.parse(result_handle) blast_record = blast_records.next() save_file = open("/Users/jonbra/Desktop/my_fasta_seq.fasta", 'w') for alignment in blast_record.alignments: for hsp in alignment.hsps: save_file.write('>%s\n' % (alignment.title,)) save_file.close() Somebody have any suggestions as to extract all the hits? I guess I have to use something else than alignments. Hope this was clear. Thanks! Jon

  • Writing a rails validator with integer

  • Interview questions for junior C and C++ developer position

    - by Ondrej Slinták
What interview questions should people expect as a junior C and C++ developer? Code questions or more of theory? Solutions in pseudo-code or in C code? Maybe I'm misinterpreting the word "junior", but I have no idea what would anyone ask me if I have no C work experiences. I'm bit afraid of tricky questions with pointers, so I'd like to be sure what should I look up before actually going there. I'm a junior PHP developer with 1 year of experiences, if it helps the question. Hope it isn't duplicate as I'm asking particularly about junior developer job.
