  • What is the maximum length of a C# string [closed]

    - by Ahmet Altun
    Possible Duplicate: What is the maximum possible length of a .NET string? How long a C# string can be in maximum? Is there any limitation? Considering if MSN was written in C#, the instant messaging would be designed as Textbox. So, the content would be Textbox.text, which is a string. But can System.string can store such a long value. I assume, string class holds value contiguously.

  • SolidColorBrush thickness property

    - by developer
    Hi All, Is it possible to set thickness property of SolidColorBrush. The reason I am asking is that I have a IValueConverter binding to Textbox Border BorderBrush property and I am dynamically setting the color of the textbox using the below code, SolidColorBrush tbbrush = new SolidColorBrush(Colors.DarkGray); return tbbrush; I also want to change the thickness property of the border, but without writing a new IValueConverter. Is it possible?

  • .NET WinForms INotifyPropertyChanged updates all bindings when one is changed. Better way?

    - by Dave Welling
    In a windows forms application, a property change that triggers INotifyPropertyChanged, will result in the form reading EVERY property from my bound object, not just the property changed. (See example code below) This seems absurdly wasteful since the interface requires the name of the changing property. It is causing a lot of clocking in my app because some of the property getters require calculations to be performed. I'll likely need to implement some sort of logic in my getters to discard the unnecessary reads if there is no better way to do this. Am I missing something? Is there a better way? Don't say to use a different presentation technology please -- I am doing this on Windows Mobile (although the behavior happens on the full framework as well). Here's some toy code to demonstrate the problem. Clicking the button will result in BOTH textboxes being populated even though one property has changed. using System; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Drawing; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace Example { public class ExView : Form { private Presenter _presenter = new Presenter(); public ExView() { this.MinimizeBox = false; TextBox txt1 = new TextBox(); txt1.Parent = this; txt1.Location = new Point(1, 1); txt1.Width = this.ClientSize.Width - 10; txt1.DataBindings.Add("Text", _presenter, "SomeText1"); TextBox txt2 = new TextBox(); txt2.Parent = this; txt2.Location = new Point(1, 40); txt2.Width = this.ClientSize.Width - 10; txt2.DataBindings.Add("Text", _presenter, "SomeText2"); Button but = new Button(); but.Parent = this; but.Location = new Point(1, 80); but.Click +=new EventHandler(but_Click); } void but_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { _presenter.SomeText1 = "some text 1"; } } public class Presenter : INotifyPropertyChanged { public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; private string _SomeText1 = string.Empty; public string SomeText1 { get { return _SomeText1; } set { _SomeText1 = value; _SomeText2 = value; // <-- To demonstrate that both properties are read OnPropertyChanged("SomeText1"); } } private string _SomeText2 = string.Empty; public string SomeText2 { get { return _SomeText2; } set { _SomeText2 = value; OnPropertyChanged("SomeText2"); } } private void OnPropertyChanged(string PropertyName) { PropertyChangedEventHandler temp = PropertyChanged; if (temp != null) { temp(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(PropertyName)); } } } }

  • jQuery multiple running totals

    - by Benjamin Randal
    0I am using jQuery to calculate a running total on multiple textboxes. Just found an awesome response on how to get that working a few days ago, but now I am running into another problem. When using one selector, the total for GetTotal is calculated perfectly. However, when I include the second selector, the totals begin to conflict with one another, and no longer calculate properly. I have been searching for a solution to this for some time now, does anyone have any ideas? Here is the selector i am currently using: function GetTotal(txtBox) { var total = 0; $('input:text').each(function(index, value) { total += parseInt($(value).val() || 0); }); $("#chkTotal").html(total); } My view uses these txt boxes <div class="editor-field"> @Html.TextBox("Field1", String.Empty, new {InputType = "text", id = "field1", onchange = "GetTotal(this)" }) </div> <div class="editor-field"> @Html.TextBox("Field2", String.Empty, new {InputType = "text", id = "field2", onchange = "GetTotal(this)" }) </div> <div> <h3>Total Checked</h3> </div> <div id="chkTotal"></div> Now I am trying to implement another selector which will total two additional editor fields... function GetTotal1(txtBox) { var total1 = 0; $('input:text').each(function (index, value) { total1 += parseInt($(value).val() || 0); }); $("#disTotal").html(total1); } View: <div class="editor-field"> @Html.TextBox("Field3", String.Empty, new {InputType = "text", id = "field3", onchange = "GetTotal1(this)" }) </div> <div class="editor-field"> @Html.TextBox("Field4", String.Empty, new {InputType = "text", id = "field4", onchange = "GetTotal1(this)" }) </div> <div> <h3>Total Distributed</h3> </div> <div id="disTotal"></div>

  • Show bit Column as a checkbox column in unbound Datagridview

    - by Name.IsNullOrEmpty
    Dim Comp = From C In db.Table1 _ Select C.Completed, C.Taken, C.Namne Datagridview1.DataSource = Comp Am using the Entity Framework and Columns Completed and Taken are of bit Datatype. When the query results are displayed in the datagridview, these bit columns are returned as of ColumnType Textbox - so i get a Datagridview textbox column with true or false string values. I want to display Completed and Taken as Checkbox columns (either ticked for True or un-ticked for false) but ofcourse i can't do this in EditColumn dialogue because the Datagridview is unbound. how can i change this in code at runtime

  • WPF - Random hanging with file browser attached behaviour.

    - by Stimul8d
    Hi, I have an attached behavior defined thusly,.. public static class FileBrowserBehaviour { public static bool GetBrowsesOnClick(DependencyObject obj) { return (bool)obj.GetValue(BrowsesOnClickProperty); } public static void SetBrowsesOnClick(DependencyObject obj, bool value) { obj.SetValue(BrowsesOnClickProperty, value); } // Using a DependencyProperty as the backing store for BrowsesOnClick. This enables animation, styling, binding, etc... public static readonly DependencyProperty BrowsesOnClickProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached("BrowsesOnClick", typeof(bool), typeof(FileBrowserBehaviour), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(false, new PropertyChangedCallback(BrowsesOnClickChanged))); public static void BrowsesOnClickChanged(DependencyObject obj, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs args) { FrameworkElement fe = obj as FrameworkElement; if ((bool)args.NewValue) { fe.PreviewMouseLeftButtonDown += new MouseButtonEventHandler(OpenFileBrowser); } else { fe.PreviewMouseLeftButtonDown -= new MouseButtonEventHandler(OpenFileBrowser); } } static void OpenFileBrowser(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { var tb = sender as TextBox; if (tb.Text.Length < 1 || tb.Text=="Click to browse..") { OpenFileDialog ofd = new OpenFileDialog(); ofd.Filter = "Executables | *.exe"; if (ofd.ShowDialog() == true) { Debug.WriteLine("Setting textbox text-" + ofd.FileName); tb.Text = ofd.FileName; Debug.WriteLine("Set textbox text"); } } } } It's a nice simple attached behavior which pops open an OpenFileDialog when you click on a textbox and puts the filename in the box when you're done. It works maybe 40% of the time but the rest of the time the whole app hangs. The call stack at this point looks like this - [Managed to Native Transition] WindowsBase.dll!MS.Win32.UnsafeNativeMethods.GetMessageW(ref System.Windows.Interop.MSG msg, System.Runtime.InteropServices.HandleRef hWnd, int uMsgFilterMin, int uMsgFilterMax) + 0x15 bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.GetMessage(ref System.Windows.Interop.MSG msg, System.IntPtr hwnd, int minMessage, int maxMessage) + 0x48 bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.PushFrameImpl(System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame frame = {System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame}) + 0x8b bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.PushFrame(System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame frame) + 0x49 bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.Run() + 0x4c bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.RunDispatcher(object ignore) + 0x1e bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.RunInternal(System.Windows.Window window) + 0x6f bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.Run(System.Windows.Window window) + 0x26 bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.Run() + 0x19 bytes Debugatron.exe!Debugatron.App.Main() + 0x5e bytes C# [Native to Managed Transition] [Managed to Native Transition] mscorlib.dll!System.AppDomain.nExecuteAssembly(System.Reflection.Assembly assembly, string[] args) + 0x19 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ManifestRunner.Run(bool checkAptModel) + 0x6e bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ManifestRunner.ExecuteAsAssembly() + 0x84 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ApplicationActivator.CreateInstance(System.ActivationContext activationContext, string[] activationCustomData) + 0x65 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ApplicationActivator.CreateInstance(System.ActivationContext activationContext) + 0xa bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Activator.CreateInstance(System.ActivationContext activationContext) + 0x3e bytes Microsoft.VisualStudio.HostingProcess.Utilities.dll!Microsoft.VisualStudio.HostingProcess.HostProc.RunUsersAssemblyDebugInZone() + 0x23 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context(object state) + 0x66 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext executionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback callback, object state) + 0x6f bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart() + 0x44 bytes Now, I've seen this kind of thing before when doing some asynchronous stuff but there's none of that going on at that point. The only thread alive is the UI thread! Also, I always get that last debug statement when it does hang. Can anyone point me in the right direction? This one's driving me crazy!

  • How to get a reference to a control in the view?

    - by Kevin
    If I have a UIScrollView set up in the view via the Interface Builder, how do I get a reference to it in the ViewController implementation? I want to programmatically add labels to the scroll view. For example, in C# if you have a textbox declared in the UI/form, you can access it by simply using the ID declared for that textbox. It doesn't seem this simple in objective c. Thanks Kevin

  • How to set the Windows Mobile 6 IME mode (to numbers only)

    - by Daniel Crenna
    In Windows Mobile 5 one of the following methods works to set an input to numbers only: // Managed InputModeEditor.SetInputMode(textBox, InputMode.Numeric); // Native Wrapper InputModeSupport.SHSetImeMode(textBox.Handle, InputModeSupport.SHIME_MODE.SHIME_MODE_NUMBERS); In Windows Mobile 6, neither works. How do you set the IME to "Numbers Only" in WM 6.0 / .NET CF 3.5?

  • AdornerDecorator and tab stop issues

    - by Trev
    Hi, I am using IDataErrorInfo to validate and indicate errors in my text boxes. I am finding I have to tab once for the text box and once for the adornerdecorator. I have an error template: <ControlTemplate x:Key="ErrorTemplate"> <StackPanel KeyboardNavigation.IsTabStop="False" > <Border KeyboardNavigation.IsTabStop="False" BorderBrush="Red" BorderThickness="1" Padding="2" CornerRadius="2"> <AdornedElementPlaceholder KeyboardNavigation.IsTabStop="False" /> </Border> </StackPanel> </ControlTemplate> a textbox template: <Style x:Key="TextBoxInError" TargetType="{x:Type TextBox}"> <Setter Property="KeyboardNavigation.TabNavigation" Value="None"/> <Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{x:Null}"/> <Setter Property="Margin" Value="0,5,0,5"/> <Setter Property="AllowDrop" Value="true"/> <Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="left"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type TextBox}"> <Grid KeyboardNavigation.IsTabStop="False" > <Border KeyboardNavigation.IsTabStop="False" x:Name="Border" Background="{DynamicResource WindowBackgroundBrush}" BorderBrush="{DynamicResource SolidBorderBrush}" BorderThickness="1" Padding="2" CornerRadius="2"> <ScrollViewer IsTabStop="False" Margin="0" x:Name="PART_ContentHost" Style="{DynamicResource SimpleScrollViewer}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}"/> </Border> </Grid> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="Validation.HasError" Value="true"> <Setter Property="ToolTip" Value="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}, Path=(Validation.Errors), Converter={StaticResource errorConverter}}"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="false"> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="Gray"/> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> and declare a text box like this: <AdornerDecorator KeyboardNavigation.IsTabStop="False" > <TextBox Margin="5,5,5,3" x:Name="txtName" IsEnabled="{Binding EditMode}" Validation.ErrorTemplate="{StaticResource ErrorTemplate}" Text="{Binding ApplicationName, Mode=TwoWay, ValidatesOnExceptions=True, NotifyOnValidationError=True, ValidatesOnDataErrors=True}" Height="25" MaxLength="50" MaxLines="1" Style="{StaticResource TextBoxInError}"/> </AdornerDecorator> If the adorner is round one text box as above then I tab once to leave the text box and once to leave the 'adornment' (it seems) If I have the adorner around a stackpanel of text boxes then I tab once each for the text boxes then have to go back through all the 'adornments' in turn. When tabbing through the adornments the focus goes on the red border defined in the control template.. any ideas? thanks

    - by Khou
    A form contains many elements, such as labels, Textbox, radio options box etc How do you detect the user has changed a textbox input value, or has choosen a radio option within the content of a web browser control? (not the winform itself). Do you handle a winform event for when the mouse clicked or keyboard keys pressed? or is there a better way to detect changes in the web browser content?
