  • "'0.offsetWidth' is null or not an object" - Coda Slider - Javascript Error Question

    - by bgadoci
    I implemented the Coda Slider tutorial successfully that is located here: http://jqueryfordesigners.com/coda-slider-effect/ The slider works great but I am getting a javascript error that I am not sure how to fix. The error says: '0.offsetWidth' is null or not an object coda-slider.js, line 19 character 3 Not sure how to fix it. Anyone have any ideas? Here is my js and css (don't think I need to upload the HTML but let me know if that helps). JS (coda-slider.js) // when the DOM is ready... $(document).ready(function () { var $panels = $('#slider .scrollContainer > div'); var $container = $('#slider .scrollContainer'); // if false, we'll float all the panels left and fix the width // of the container var horizontal = true; // float the panels left if we're going horizontal if (horizontal) { $panels.css({ 'float' : 'left', 'position' : 'relative' // IE fix to ensure overflow is hidden }); // calculate a new width for the container (so it holds all panels) $container.css('width', $panels[0].offsetWidth * $panels.length); <------line 19 } // collect the scroll object, at the same time apply the hidden overflow // to remove the default scrollbars that will appear var $scroll = $('#slider .scroll').css('overflow', 'hidden'); // apply our left + right buttons $scroll .before('<img class="scrollButtons left" src="/images/layout/navigation/scroll_left.png" />') .after('<img class="scrollButtons right" src="/images/layout/navigation/scroll_right.png" />'); // handle nav selection function selectNav() { $(this) .parents('ul:first') .find('a') .removeClass('selected') .end() .end() .addClass('selected'); } $('#slider .navigation').find('a').click(selectNav); // go find the navigation link that has this target and select the nav function trigger(data) { var el = $('#slider .navigation').find('a[href$="' + data.id + '"]').get(0); selectNav.call(el); } if (window.location.hash) { trigger({ id : window.location.hash.substr(1) }); } else { $('ul.navigation a:first').click(); } // offset is used to move to *exactly* the right place, since I'm using // padding on my example, I need to subtract the amount of padding to // the offset. Try removing this to get a good idea of the effect var offset = parseInt((horizontal ? $container.css('paddingTop') : $container.css('paddingLeft')) || 0) * -1; var scrollOptions = { target: $scroll, // the element that has the overflow // can be a selector which will be relative to the target items: $panels, navigation: '.navigation a', // selectors are NOT relative to document, i.e. make sure they're unique prev: 'img.left', next: 'img.right', // allow the scroll effect to run both directions axis: 'xy', onAfter: trigger, // our final callback offset: offset, // duration of the sliding effect duration: 500, // easing - can be used with the easing plugin: // http://gsgd.co.uk/sandbox/jquery/easing/ easing: 'swing' }; // apply serialScroll to the slider - we chose this plugin because it // supports// the indexed next and previous scroll along with hooking // in to our navigation. $('#slider').serialScroll(scrollOptions); // now apply localScroll to hook any other arbitrary links to trigger // the effect $.localScroll(scrollOptions); // finally, if the URL has a hash, move the slider in to position, // setting the duration to 1 because I don't want it to scroll in the // very first page load. We don't always need this, but it ensures // the positioning is absolutely spot on when the pages loads. scrollOptions.duration = 1; $.localScroll.hash(scrollOptions); }); CSS #slider { margin-left: 35px; position: relative; width: 875px; } .scroll { position: relative; width: 875px; height: 268px; overflow: auto; /* fix for IE to respect overflow */ background: #FFFFFF scroll 0; } .scrollContainer div.panel { position: relative; height: 210px; width: 875px; /* change to 560px if not using JS to remove rh.scroll */ } .scrollButtons { position: absolute; top: 115px; cursor: pointer; } .scrollButtons.left { left: -20px; } .scrollButtons.right { right: -20px; }

  • Dynamic Colorbox galleries using Ajax

    - by Gobitron
    Hi, I am new to jQuery / AJAX. I have a page that uses colorbox to display photo galleries. The page displays only one image from each gallery. When clicked, a colorbox opens up with all of the photos from that gallery. These inner photo references (for all photos from all galleries) are hidden on the page in an invisible div. The page is a PHP generated page. The galleries/photos are being populated via Picasa. All of the above works fine, but instead of loading all of the images from all galleries on page load (via PHP), I'd like to load only the requested gallery into the colorbox via AJAX. So far, I have a test page which can insert the proper links into a div on the page, but the Colorbox won't pick up on these links. This is where I need help. How can I get Colorbox to recognize the links generated by my AJAX call? The colorbox scripts sit in the header: <script type="text/javascript" src="libs/js/jquery.colorbox.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> //Writing out the ColorBox command for each album $(document).ready(function(){ <?php $setnum = 0; foreach ($albumIds as $albumId){ echo "\t\t\t$(\"a[rel='set" . $setnum . "']\").colorbox({maxWidth:\"640px\", maxHeight:\"480px\"});\n"; $setnum++; } ?> }); </script> Here is my get JSON code located in the body section of the page: $.getJSON("myserv.php",formContent, function(json){ var photos = json.data.items; var numpics = json.data.items.length; var pointer = 1; while (pointer < numpics){ var stuffineed = photos[pointer].media.image.url; $("#ajaxBox").append("<a href='" + stuffineed + "' rel='set" + pointer +"'>" + photos[pointer].media.image.url + "</a><br />"); pointer++; } }); //End json Again, I can get the AJAX to populate the div correctly, but the colorbox script isn't picking up these images. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • javascript - multiple dependent/cascading/chained select boxes on same form

    - by Aaron
    I'm populating select box options via jquery and json but I'm not sure how to address multiple instances of the same chained select boxes within my form. Because the select boxes are only rendered when needed some records will have ten sets of chained select boxes and others will only need one. How does one generate unique selects to support the auto population of secondary select options? Here's the code I'm using, and I thank you in advance for any insight you may provide. <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function populateACD() { $.getJSON('/acd/acd2json.php', {acdSelect:$('#acdSelect').val()}, function(data) { var select = $('#acd2'); var options = select.attr('options'); $('option', select).remove(); $.each(data, function(index, array) { options[options.length] = new Option(array['ACD2']); }); }); } $(document).ready(function() { populateACD(); $('#acdSelect').change(function() { populateACD(); }); }); </script> <?php require_once('connectvars.php'); $dbc = mysqli_connect(DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD, DB_NAME); $squery = "SELECT ACD1ID, ACD1 from ACD1"; $sdata = mysqli_query($dbc, $squery); // Loop through the array of ACD1s, placing them into an option of a select echo '<select name="acdSelect" id="acdSelect">'; while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($sdata)) { echo "<option value=" . $row['ACD1ID'] . • How to remove buttons in AnythingSlider and stop the sliding?

    - by user244394
    I'm currently using the anythingSlider it works quite well. But if there is one li, how do i make it stop sliding and remove the buttons displayed below? The *li*s are generated from the database so sometimes there's only one. I want the buttons to show only when there is more then one image. if there is one image all the buttons( back, forward, pause) should not be displayed. Does anybody know of a way of stopping it sliding if there's only one li and removing the buttons when there is only one image. ===================================================================================== Thank You. Currently I have the working version, posted below the old code is working. I tried to replace it with yours it didnt seem to work. Is there something else that needs to be added? function formatText(index, panel) { return index + ""; } $(function () { $('.anythingSlider').anythingSlider({ easing: "easeInOutExpo", // Anything other than "linear" or "swing" requires the easing plugin autoPlay: true, // This turns off the entire FUNCTIONALY, not just if it starts running or not. delay: 7500, // How long between slide transitions in AutoPlay mode startStopped: false, // If autoPlay is on, this can force it to start stopped animationTime: 1250, // How long the slide transition takes hashTags: true, // Should links change the hashtag in the URL? buildNavigation: true, // If true, builds and list of anchor links to link to each slide pauseOnHover: true, // If true, and autoPlay is enabled, the show will pause on hover startText: "", // Start text stopText: "", // Start text navigationFormatter: formatText // Details at the top of the file on this use (advanced use) }); $("#slide-jump").click(function(){ $('.anythingSlider').anythingSlider(6); }); }); UPDATED WITH YOUR CODE : function formatText(index, panel) { return index + ""; } $(function () { var singleSlide = true, options = { autoPlay: false, // This turns off the entire FUNCTIONALY, not just if it starts running or not. buildNavigation: false, // If true, builds and list of anchor links to link to each slide easing: "easeInOutExpo", // Anything other than "linear" or "swing" requires the easing plugin delay: 3000, // How long between slide transitions in AutoPlay mode animationTime: 600, // How long the slide transition takes hashTags: true, // Should links change the hashtag in the URL? pauseOnHover: true, // If true, and autoPlay is enabled, the show will pause on hover navigationFormatter: formatText // Details at the top of the file on this use (advanced use) }; // Add player options if more than one slide exists if ( $('.anythingSlider div ul li').length 1 ) { $.extend(options, { autoPlay: true, startStopped: false, // If autoPlay is on, this can force it to start stopped startText: "", // Start text stopText: "", // Start text buildNavigation: true }); singleSlide = false; } // Initiate anythingSlider $("#slide-jump").click(function(){ $('.anythingSlider').anythingSlider(6); }); // hide anythingSlider navigation arrows if (singleSlide) { $('.anythingSlider a.arrow').hide(); } }); HTML TAGS ========================================================================================= Update May 25 ,2010 When using $('.anythingSlider').anythingSlider(options); instead of $('.anythingSlider').anythingSlider(6); the slider runs but I noticed that I get a Javascript Error :Object required is there anything else I need to pass? Since before anythingSlider was taking 6 instead of options, where do I pass that 6, since its looking for it.

  • Uploadify Hanging at random on 100%

    - by Matty
    I am using Uploadify (http://www.uploadify.com/) to enable my users to upload images via my web application. The problem I am having is that every now and then (at what appears to be random) when the progress bar reaches 100% it 'hangs' and does nothing. I was wondering if any developers familiar with uploadify may have any idea how to solve this? I am in desperate need of some help. Here is my front-end code: jQuery(document).ready(function() { jQuery("#uploadify").uploadify({ 'uploader' : 'javascripts/uploadify.swf', 'script' : 'upload-file2.php', 'cancelImg' : 'css/images/cancel.png', 'folder' : 'uploads/personal_images/' + profileOwner, 'queueID' : 'fileQueue', 'auto' : true, 'multi' : true, 'fileDesc' : 'Image files', 'fileExt' : '.jpg;.jpeg;.gif;.png', 'sizeLimit' : '2097152', 'onComplete': function(event, queueID, fileObj, response, data) { processPersonalImage(fileObj.name); arrImgNames.push(fileObj.name); showUploadedImages(true); document.getElementById("photos").style.backgroundImage = "url('css/images/minicam.png')"; }, 'onAllComplete' : function() { completionMessage(arrFailedNames); document.getElementById("displayImageButton").style.display = "inline"; document.getElementById("photos").style.backgroundImage = "url('css/images/minicam.png')"; }, 'onCancel' : function() { arrImgNames.push(fileObj.name); arrFailedNames.push(fileObj.name); showUploadedImages(false); }, 'onError' : function() { arrImgNames.push(fileObj.name); arrFailedNames.push(fileObj.name); showUploadedImages(false); } }); }); And server side: if (!empty($_FILES)) { //Get user ID from the file path for use later.. $userID = getIdFromFilePath($_REQUEST['folder'], 3); $row = mysql_fetch_assoc(getRecentAlbum($userID, "photo_album_personal")); $subFolderName = $row['pk']; //Prepare target path / file.. $tempFile = $_FILES['Filedata']['tmp_name']; $targetPath = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] . $_REQUEST['folder'] . '/'.$subFolderName.'/'; $targetFile = str_replace('//','/',$targetPath) . $_FILES['Filedata']['name']; //Move uploaded file from temp directory to new folder move_uploaded_file($tempFile,$targetFile); //Now add a record to DB to reflect this personal image.. if(file_exists($targetFile)) { //add photo record to DB $directFilePath = $_REQUEST['folder'] . '/'.$subFolderName.'/' . $_FILES['Filedata']['name']; addPersonalPhotoRecordToDb($directFilePath, $row['pk']); } echo "1"; die(true); } thanks for any help!!

  • Javascript to convert Markdown/Textile to HTML (and, ideally, back to Markdown/Textile)

    - by Horace Loeb
    There are several good Javascript editors for Markdown / Textile (e.g.: http://attacklab.net/showdown/, the one I'm using right now), but all I need is a Javascript function that converts a string from Markdown / Textile - HTML and back. What's the best way to do this? (Ideally it would be jQuery-friendly -- e.g., $("#editor").markdown_to_html()) Edit: Another way to put it is that I'm looking for a Javascript implementation of Rails' textilize() and markdown() text helpers

  • jQTouch animated table cell hight

    - by Brett
    Hi everybody, I am using jQTouch to show a table list. When a cell (really a < li tag in jQTouch) is clicked, I would like to animate the height of the cell down to 0, then hide the element. I have tried using jquery.animate() for this, and it works on firefox/chrome/opera, but it is super slow on the iPhone. Does anyone have any idea how to use -webkit-animate (or some iPhone compatible framework, such as jQTouch), to do this? Thanks, Brett

  • Zend Framework + Uplodify Flash Uploader Troubles

    - by Richard Knop
    I've been trying to get the Uploadify flash uploader (www.uploadify.com) to work with Zend Framework, with no success so far. I have placed all Uploadify files under /public/flash-uploader directory. In the controller I include all required files and libraries like this: $this->view->headScript()->appendFile('/js/jquery-1.3.2.min.js'); $this->view->headLink()->appendStylesheet('/flash-uploader/css/default.css'); $this->view->headLink()->appendStylesheet('/flash-uploader/css/uploadify.css'); $this->view->headScript()->appendFile('/flash-uploader/scripts/swfobject.js'); $this->view->headScript()->appendFile('/flash-uploader/scripts/jquery.uploadify.v2.1.0.min.js'); And then I activate the plugin like this (#photo is id of the input file field): $(document).ready(function() { $("#photo").uploadify({ 'uploader' : '/flash-uploader/scripts/uploadify.swf', 'script' : 'my-account/flash-upload', 'cancelImg' : '/flash-uploader/cancel.png', 'folder' : 'uploads/tmp', 'queueID' : 'fileQueue', 'auto' : true, 'multi' : true, 'sizeLimit' : 2097152 }); }); As you can see I am targeting the my-account/flash-upload script as a backend processing (my-account is a controller, flash-upload is an action). My form markup looks like this: <form enctype="multipart/form-data" method="post" action="/my-account/upload-public-photo"><ol> <li><label for="photo" class="optional">File Queue<div id="fileQueue"></div></label> <input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="31457280" id="MAX_FILE_SIZE" /> <input type="file" name="photo" id="photo" class="input-file" /></li> <li><div class="button"> <input type="submit" name="upload_public_photo" id="upload_public_photo" value="Save" class="input-submit" /></div></li></ol></form> And yet it's not working. The browse button doesn't even show up as in the demo page, I get only a regular input file field. Any ideas where could the problem be? I've already been staring into the code for hours and I cannot see any mistake anywhere and I'm starting to be exhausted after going through the same 30 lines of code 30 times in a row.

    - by jitendra
    What are the usability, accessibility, screen-reader, or any other development, functionality, or cross browser issues with <iframe>? Is there any alternative for <iframe>? And are there any JavaScript/jQuery or server-side techniques which can decrease the usability, accessibility, or screen-reader issues with <iframe>? Why has the W3C not included <iframe> in XHTML Strict, while HTML 5 supports <iframe>?

  • Extending XHTML

    - by Daniel Schaffer
    I'm playing around with writing a jQuery plugin that uses an attribute to define form validation behavior (yes, I'm aware there's already a validation plugin; this is as much a learning exercise as something I'll be using). Ideally, I'd like to have something like this: Example 1 - input: <input id="name" type="text" v:onvalidate="return this.value.length > 0;" /> Example 2 - wrapper: <div v:onvalidate="return $(this).find('[value]').length > 0;"> <input id="field1" type="text" /> <input id="field2" type="text" /> <input id="field3" type="text" /> </div> Example 3 - predefined: <input id="name" type="text" v:validation="not empty" /> The goal here is to allow my jQuery code to figure out which elements need to be validated (this is already done) and still have the markup be valid XHTML, which is what I'm having a problem with. I'm fairly sure this will require a combination of both DTD and XML Schema, but I'm not really quite sure how exactly to execute. Based on this article, I've created the following DTD: <!ENTITY % XHTML1-formvalidation1 PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1 +FormValidation 1.0//EN" "http://new.dandoes.net/DTD/FormValidation1.dtd" > %XHTML1-formvalidation1; <!ENTITY % Inlspecial.extra "%div.qname; " > <!ENTITY % xhmtl-model.mod SYSTEM "formvalidation-model-1.mod" > <!ENTITY % xhtml11.dtd PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd" > %xhtml11.dtd; And here is "formvalidation-model-1": <!ATTLIST %div.qname; %onvalidation CDATA #IMPLIED %XHTML1-formvalidation1.xmlns.extra.attrib; > I've never done DTD before, so I'm not even really exactly sure what I'm doing. When I run my page through the W3 XHTML validator, I get 80+ errors because it's getting duplicate definitions of all the XHTML elements. Am I at least on the right track? Any suggestions? EDIT: I removed this section from my custom DTD, because it turned out that it was actually self-referencing, and the code I got the template from was really for combining two DTDs into one, not appending specific items to one: <!ENTITY % XHTML1-formvalidation1 PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1 +FormValidation 1.0//EN" "http://new.dandoes.net/DTD/FormValidation1.dtd" > %XHTML1-formvalidation1; I also removed this, because it wasn't validating, and didn't seem to be doing anything: <!ENTITY % Inlspecial.extra "%div.qname; " > Additionally, I decided that since I'm only adding a handful of additional items, the separate files model recommended by W3 doesn't really seem that helpful, so I've put everything into the dtd file, the content of which is now this: <!ATTLIST div onvalidate CDATA #IMPLIED> <!ENTITY % xhtml11.dtd PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd" > %xhtml11.dtd; So now, I'm not getting any DTD-related validation errors, but the onvalidate attribute still is not valid. Update: I've ditched the DTD and added a schema: http://schema.dandoes.net/FormValidation/1.0.xsd Using v:onvalidate appears to validate in Visual Studio, but the W3C service still doesn't like it. Here's a page where I'm using it so you can look at the source: http://new.dandoes.net/auth And here's the link to the w3c validation result: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://new.dandoes.net/auth&charset=(detect+automatically)&doctype=Inline&group=0 Is this about as close as I'll be able to get with this, or am I still doing something wrong?

  • Form won't submit properly in IE

    Hi! My simple donation form submits properly except for Internet Explorer. I'm sure it has to do with issues with change() and focus() or blur(), but all my hundreds of attempts so far have failed me.
