  • Testing WML documents without Nokia

    - by Steven Wright
Are there any testing platforms out there for testing WAP/WML pages besides that provided by Nokia? I have tried to get ahold of the Nokia Mobile Internet Toolkit but it's too tied down with authentication and certificates etc. Nokia software is like Adobe and......sucks.

  • How can I get "Copy to Output Directory" to work with Unit Tests?

    - by spoon16
When I build a unit test project before the tests are executed the test output is copied to a TestResults folder and then the tests are executed. The issue I'm having is that not all the files in the Debug/bin directory are copied to the TestResults project. How can I get a file that is copied to the Debug/bin directory to also be copied to the TestResults folder? EDIT: Here is a link to a similar question on another site (no answer there though), http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/29316967/files-and-unit-testing-wi.aspx

  • How do I get rid of LD_LIBRARY_PATH at run-time?

    - by Kjir
I am building a C++ application that uses Intel's IPP library. This library is installed by default in /opt and requires you to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH both for compiling and for running your software (if you choose the shared library linking, which I did). I already modified my configure.ac/Makefile.am so that I do not need to set that variable when compiling, but I still can't find the shared library at run-time; how do I do that? I'm compiling with the -Wl, -R/path/to/lib flag using g++

  • Find and replace table/field names in Access?

    - by richardtallent
I've been handed a rather large, old, and crusty Access 2000/2003 database to clean up. I'll need to rename a number of tables and fields, but need to do so in a way that doesn't break existing queries. (Fortunately, there are no macros, forms, or reports to worry about.) I've heard there are some commercial tools to make this job easier, but only found one (http://www.rickworld.com/products.html). Can anyone recommend this software, or any alternatives?

  • How to convert a fixed height/width-fixed layout to elastic?

    - by phretor
I used the same software used here http://us.gn.bartal.org/ to create a fixed width/height treemap in HTML + CSS. I would like to make it elastic by having a JavaScript function to convert all pixels absolute positions and sizes to percentages. How would you suggest to proceed? Is there some jQuery/Prototype/Dojo magic that I can exploit?

  • Corporate developers: Do you feel your code is adding value to the company?

    - by Pierreten
I'm going through a phase where I'm not being productive at all. I find it hard to justify to myself getting paid six figures to sit in front of my computer and act busy. Management is completely disengaged, and the users as well. What do you do in this type of situation? I've taken to learning some deeper aspects of .Net and software construction in general, but don't like the feeling that I'm stiffing my employer.

  • Mac OSX Programming for long time Linux geek

    - by DarenW
I've written software on Linux since 1995 but must get up to speed with app development on the Mac. I have no experience on that platform. Obviously I should get my hands on some appropriate hardware. What are good books, tutorial websites, and other resources for experienced devs getting started on Mac? Not just APIs and app internals, but also including how does one install an app, debug it, etc?

  • Tips for learning MUMPS (M) / Cache?

    - by Jake
I'm interested in getting involved/up to speed on VistA, the Veterans' Administrations open source medical records system. To that effect, I understand I should learn the MUMPS (M) language upon which the software is based. Does anyone have any getting started tips or book recommendations on this language and environment? Any tips on getting up to speed on VistA is appreciated as well. Audience: experienced developer/consultant. Thanx in adv.

  • who wrote 250k unit tests for webkit?

    - by amwinter
assuming a yield of 3 per hour, that's 83000 hours. 8 hours a day makes 10,500 days, divide by thirty to get 342 mythical man months. I call them mythical because writing 125 tests per person per week is unreal. can any wise soul out there on SO shed some light on what sort of mythical men write unreal quantities of tests for large software projects? thank you.

  • A NSMutableArray is destroying my life!

    - by camilo
EDITED to show the relevant part of the code Hi. There's a strange problem with an NSMutableArray which I'm just not understanding... Explaining: I have a NSMutableArray, defined as a property (nonatomic, retain), synthesized, and initialized with 29 elements. realSectionNames = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:29]; After the initialization, I can insert elements as I wish and everything seems to be working fine. While I'm running the application, however, if I insert a new element in the array, I can print the array in the function where I inserted the element, and everything seems ok. However, when I select a row in the table, and I need to read that array, my application crashes. In fact, it cannot even print the array anymore. Is there any "magical and logical trick" everybody should know when using a NSMutableArray that a beginner like myself can be missing? Thanks a lot. I declare my array as realSectionNames = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:29]; I insert objects in my array with [realSectionNames addObject:[category categoryFirstLetter]]; although I know i can also insert it with [realSectionNames insertObject:[category categoryFirstLetter] atIndex:i]; where the "i" is the first non-occupied position. After the insertion, I reload the data of my tableView. Printing the array before or after reloading the data shows it has the desired information. After that, selecting a row at the table makes the application crash. This realSectionNames is used in several UITableViewDelegate functions, but for the case it doesn't matter. What truly matters is that printing the array in the beginning of the didSelectRowAtIndexPath function crashes everything (and of course, doesn't print anything). I'm pretty sure it's in that line, for printing anything he line before works (example): NSLog(@"Anything"); NSLog(@"%@", realSectionNames); gives the output: 2010-03-24 15:16:04.146 myApplicationExperience[3527:207] Anything [Session started at 2010-03-24 15:16:04 +0000.] GNU gdb 6.3.50-20050815 (Apple version gdb-967) (Tue Jul 14 02:11:58 UTC 2009) Copyright 2004 Free Software Foundation, Inc. • What are the real-world applications of huffman coding?

    - by jcyang
I am told that Huffman coding is used as loseless data compression algorithm but also am told that real data compress software do not employ huffman coding, cause if the keys are not distributed decentralized enough, the compressed file could be even larger than the orignal file. This leave me wondering are there any real-world application of huffman coding? thanks.
