  • Application loses authentication when performing redirect to a virtual directory

    - by nuhusky2003
I have the following setup: http://www.example.com/dir1/ and http://www.example.com/dir2/ Each virtual directory is configured on IIS6.0 as an application with own AppPool. When redirecting authenticated user from dir1 to dir2 using response.redirect I lose authentication information for the user and the user is being redirected to the login page. This issue was not coming up with each app (dir1 and dir2) were configured under subdomain, ex: http://dir1.example.com and http://dir2.example.com. I have resolved the issue by adding a machine key to the machine.config file. Can someone explain to me why it's not working on a http://www.example.com/dir1 configuration?

  • How Can I Generate Random Unqiue Numbers in C#

    - by peace
public int GenPurchaseOrderNum() { Random random = new Random(); _uniqueNum = random.Next(13287, 21439); return UniqueNum; } I removed unique constraint from the PONumber column in the db because an employee should only generate P.O. # when the deal is set. Otherwise, P.O. # would have 0. P.O. Number used to have unique constraint, this forces employee to generate P.O. in all cases so the db doesn't throw unique constraint error. Since i removed the unique constraint, any quote doesn't have P.O. will carry 0 value. Otherwise, a unique value is generated for P.O. #. However, i don't have a unique constraint in db which makes it hard for me to know whether the application generated P.O. # is unique or not. What should i do? I hope my question is clear enough

  • Shall this Regex do what I expect from it, that is, matching against "A1:B10,C3,D4:E1000"?

    - by Will Marcouiller
I'm currently writing a library where I wish to allow the user to be able to specify spreadsheet cell(s) under four possible alternatives: A single cell: "A1"; Multiple contiguous cells: "A1:B10" Multiple separate cells: "A1,B6,I60,AA2" A mix of 2 and 3: "B2:B12,C13:C18,D4,E11000" Then, to validate whether the input respects these formats, I intended to use a regular expression to match against. I have consulted this article on Wikipedia: Regular Expression (Wikipedia) And I also found this related SO question: regex matching alpha character followed by 4 alphanumerics. Based on the information provided within the above-linked articles, I would try with this Regex: Default Readonly Property Cells(ByVal cellsAddresses As String) As ReadOnlyDictionary(Of String, ICell) Get Dim validAddresses As Regex = New Regex("A-Za-z0-9:,A-Za-z0-9") If (Not validAddresses.IsMatch(cellsAddresses)) then _ Throw New FormatException("cellsAddresses") // Proceed with getting the cells from the Interop here... End Get End Property Questions 1. Is my regular expression correct? If not, please help me understand what expression I could use. 2. What exception is more likely to be the more meaningful between a FormatException and an InvalidExpressionException? I hesitate here, since it is related to the format under which the property expect the cells to be input, aside, I'm using an (regular) expression to match against. Thank you kindly for your help and support! =)

  • Want to build simple SQL admin interface to change a few values in a table.

    - by Adam McC
i am currently building a system in MSSQL 2K5. i have a table that holds information about certain insurance schemes such as overheads and other things. these values will change occasionally and currently i administer the database straight through the management Studio. i would like to build a simple interface that will allow my colleagues to change these values by selecting the company in a dropdown and the current values will populate. they can then edit these values and submit them to the database. is this possible in the current Visual Studio supplied with MSSQL server 2K5 or do i need to get another product. i am confident that with the help of stack overflow and google i can build this myself, but i need pointed in the right direction as to which environment would be easiest and best to start building it. Many thanks, adam

  • Managing EntityConnection lifetime

    - by kervin
There have been many question on managing EntityContext lifetime, e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/813457/instantiating-a-context-in-linq-to-entities I've come to the conclusion that the entity context should be considered a unit-of-work and therefore not reused. Great. But while doing some research for speeding up my database access, I ran into this blog post... Improving Entity Framework Performance The post argues that EFs poor performance compared to other frameworks is often due to the EntityConnection object being created each time a new EntityContext object is needed. To test this I manually created a static EntityConnection in Global.asax.cs Application_Start(). I then converted all my context using statements to using( MyObjContext currContext = new MyObjeContext(globalStaticEFConnection) { .... } This seems to have sped things up a bit without any errors so far as far as I can tell. But is this safe? Does using a applicationwide static EntityConnection introduce race conditions? Best regards, Kervin

  • Change panel "visible" property on MasterPage from Child pages

    - by Vitor Reis
I want to show some panel with a label that is located on a MasterPage from inside it's child pages.. I already did the coding on the MasterPage: public class MyMaster : MasterPage { public void ShowPanel(string pMessage) { labelInside.Text = pMessage; myPanel.visible = true; } } Then I make the calls from child pages: public void ShowPanel(string pMessage) { MyMaster masterPage = this.Master as MyMaster; masterPage.ShowPanel(pMessage); } This "works" ok, but it won't show nothing, since I need the page to be "refreshed" in an "ajax-way" like an UpdatePanel, which I can't use because the Trigger is in another page, right? I really need this to work.. even if you have another completely different way to do this, I would appreciate.

  • What's the best way to validate EntityFramwork 4.0 classes?

    - by lsb
Hi! I've done a fair amount of searching but I've yet to find an easy way to validate EntityFramework 4.0 entities passed accross the wire via WCF Data Services. Basically, I want to do something on the client like: Proxy.MyEntities entities = new Proxy.MyEntities( new Uri("http://localhost:2679/Service.svc")); Proxy.Vendor vendor = new Proxy.Vendor(); vendor.Code = "ABC/XYZ"; vendor.Status = "ACTIVE"; // I'd like to do something like the following: vendor.Validate(); entities.AddToVendors(vendor); entities.SaveChanges(); Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated!

  • Issues with LINQ (to Entity) [adding records]

    - by Mario
I am using LINQ to Entity in a project, where I pull a bunch of data (from the database) and organize it into a bunch of objects and save those to the database. I have not had problems writing to the db before using LINQ to Entity, but I have run into a snag with this particular one. Here's the error I get (this is the "InnerException", the exception itself is useless!): New transaction is not allowed because there are other threads running in the session. I have seen that before, when I was trying to save my changes inside a loop. In this case, the loop finishes, and it tries to make that call, only to give me the exception. Here's the current code: try { //finalResult is a list of the keys to match on for the records being pulled foreach (int i in finalResult) { var queryEff = (from eff in dbMRI.MemberEligibility where eff.Member_Key == i && eff.EffDate >= DateTime. Now select eff.EffDate).Min(); if (queryEff != null) { //Add a record to the Process table Process prRecord = new Process(); prRecord.GroupData = qa; prRecord.Member_Key = i; prRecord.ProcessDate = DateTime. Now; prRecord.RecordType = "F"; prRecord.UsernameMarkedBy = "Autocard"; prRecord.GroupsId = qa.GroupsID; prRecord.Quantity = 2; prRecord.EffectiveDate = queryEff; dbMRI.AddObject("Process", prRecord); } } dbMRI.SaveChanges(); //<-- Crashes here foreach (int i in finalResult) { var queryProc = from pro in dbMRI.Process where pro.Member_Key == i && pro.UsernameMarkedBy == "Autocard" select pro; foreach (var qp in queryProc) { Audit aud = new Audit(); aud.Member_Key = i; aud.ProcessId = qp.ProcessId; aud.MarkDate = DateTime. Now; aud.MarkedByUsername = "Autocard"; aud.GroupData = qa; dbMRI.AddObject("Audit", aud); } } dbMRI.SaveChanges(); //<-- AND here (if the first one is commented out) } catch (Exception e) { //Do Something here } Basically, I need it to insert a record, get the identity for that inserted record and insert a record into another table with the identity from the first record. Given some other constraints, it is not possible to create a FK relationship between the two (I've tried, but some other parts of the app won't allow it, AND my DBA team for whatever reason hates FK's, but that's for a different topic :)) Any ideas what might be causing this? Thank!

  • How can avoid at this line an OverflowException?

    - by SoMoS
LastInput.time is an Integer and m_idleTime is an Integer too. This line sometimes generates an Overflow exception, I think that this happens when both values are big negative values. (Environment.TickCount - lastInput.time) > m_idleTime How can I avoid that? With casting? (CType(Environment.TickCount,Long) - CType(lastInput.time,Long)) > m_idleTime Or maybe with this cast? CType((Environment.TickCount - lastInput.time),Long) > m_idleTime Thanks in advance.

  • Case insensitive string compare in LINQ-to-SQL

    - by BlueMonkMN
I've read that it's unwise to use ToUpper and ToLower to perform case-insensitive string comparisons, but I see no alternative when it comes to LINQ-to-SQL. The ignoreCase and CompareOptions arguments of String.Compare are ignored by LINQ-to-SQL (if you're using a case-sensitive database, you get a case-sensitive comparison even if you ask for a case-insensitive comparison). Is ToLower or ToUpper the best option here? Is one better than the other? I thought I read somewhere that ToUpper was better, but I don't know if that applies here. (I'm doing a lot of code reviews and everyone is using ToLower.) Dim s = From row In context.Table Where String.Compare(row.Name, "test", StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) = 0 This translates to an SQL query that simply compares row.Name with "test" and will not return "Test" and "TEST" on a case-sensitive database.

  • Dynamically creating objects at runtime that inherit from a base class

    - by Homeliss
I am writing a game editor, and have a lot of different "tool" objects. They all inherit from BTool and have the same constructor. I would like to dynamically populate a toolbox at runtime with buttons that correspond to these tools, and when clicked have them create an instance of that tool and set it as the current tool. Is this possible, and if so will it be better/easier than creating those buttons by hand?

  • Streaming content from (sharepoint) web part

    - by Mikko Rantanen
How does one stream files, html or custom AJAX responses from web parts? Our current quick-and-very-dirty solution is to make the web part call the current page with certain query parameters, which the web part checks and instead of performing normal load it writes the required things to output and calls response end. This sounds bad since SharePoint might load other web parts and execute their code before reaching our web part. The web part is configured with data source settings which means the streaming context must be specific to the web part so it can acquire the correct data source settings.

  • Howto write a class where a property can be accessed without naming it.

    - by SchlaWiener
I have a (dump) question regarding VB/C# I often use third party classes where I can access a child object with only specifying the id or key. Example: Instead of writing: DataRow row = GetAPopulatedDataRowSomeWhere(); Object result = row.Items[1]; // DataRow has no Items property Object result = row.Items["colName"]; // Also not possible I use this code to access the members: DataRow row = GetAPopulatedDataRowSomeWhere(); Object result = row[1]; Object result = row["colName"]; Can someone tell me how a class has to look like to support this syntax? My own class has a Dictionary that I want to access this way. MyClass["key"]; // <- that's what I want MyClass.SubItems["key"]; // <- that's how I use it now

  • Alert on gridview edit based on permission

    - by Vicky
I have a gridview with edit option at the start of the row. Also I maintain a seperate table called Permission where I maintain user permissions. I have three different types of permissions like Admin, Leads, Programmers. These all three will have access to the gridview. Except admin if anyone tries to edit the gridview on clicking the edit option, I need to give an alert like This row has important validation and make sure you make proper changes. When I edit, the action with happen on table called Application. The table has a column called Comments. Also the alert should happen only when they try to edit rows where the Comments column have these values in them. ManLog datas Funding Approved Exported Applications My try so far. public bool IsApplicationUser(string userName) { return CheckUser(userName); } public static bool CheckUser(string userName) { string CS = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ToString(); DataTable dt = new DataTable(); using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(CS)) { SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(); command.Connection = connection; string strquery = "select * from Permissions where AppCode='Nest' and UserID = '" + userName + "'"; SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(strquery, connection); SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd); da.Fill(dt); } if (dt.Rows.Count >= 1) return true; else return true; } protected void Details_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e) { string currentUser = HttpContext.Current.Request.LogonUserIdentity.Name; string str = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["ConnectionString"].ToString(); string[] words = currentUser.Split('\\'); currentUser = words[1]; bool appuser = IsApplicationUser(currentUser); if (appuser) { DataSet ds = new DataSet(); using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(str)) { SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(); command.Connection = connection; string strquery = "select Role_Cd from User_Role where AppCode='PM' and UserID = '" + currentUser + "'"; SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(strquery, connection); SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd); da.Fill(ds); } if (e.CommandName.Equals("Edit") && ds.Tables[0].Rows[0]["Role_Cd"].ToString().Trim() != "ADMIN") { int index = Convert.ToInt32(e.CommandArgument); GridView gvCurrentGrid = (GridView)sender; GridViewRow row = gvCurrentGrid.Rows[index]; string strID = ((Label)row.FindControl("lblID")).Text; string strAppName = ((Label)row.FindControl("lblAppName")).Text; Response.Redirect("AddApplication.aspx?ID=" + strID + "&AppName=" + strAppName + "&Edit=True"); } } } Kindly let me know if I need to add something. Thanks for any suggestions.

  • How to display some data differnetly than it is stored.

    - by Ben
Hello, I seem to have a problem that I can't find a solution for. I have a table that has this format. projectId | departmentId | plan | ETC | month | year | ID But, I need to find a way to take that data and display it like this. Since this is my first time here I can't upload an image, but you can view it here. http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/8253/image004y.png Is this something a gridview can handle, or a repeater, or something else? Thank you. Ben

  • Synclock a section of code while waiting for ShowDialog to return

    - by clawson
I'm having trouble working out how to lock my application out of a section of code while it waits for a response from an external program. I've used Synclock on a section of code with the Me object in the expression. In this Synclock I call an overridden ShowDialog method of a dialog box, which has a timeout parameter, but does return the value from the underlying ShowDialog function call ,once the timer is setup. Works like this. SyncLock Me Dim frmDlgWithTimeout As New frmDlgWithTimeout ' dialog box with overridden ShowDialog ' Dim res As DialogResult = frmDlgWithTimeout.ShowDialog(10 * 1000) ' 10 sec timeout ' End SyncLock Now, external programs may raise events that bring my application to this Synclock but it doesn't prevent it from entering it, even though the ShowDialog function hasn't returned a value (and hence what I thought would keep the section of code locked). There is only one instance of the object that is used for lock in the program. Your help is greatly appreciated.

  • Simple C# USING statement for folder

    - by salvationishere
I am developing a VS 2008 web application in C#. I am trying to include a namespace that is stored in one of my folders. So instead of: using ADONET_namespace it is stored in "Admins" folder. How do I modify this aspx.cs file to include Admins/ADONET_namespace? Currently I get following error from aspx.cs file: The type or namespace name 'ADONET_namespace' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

  • Finding controls inside nested master pages

    - by evanmortland
I have a master page which is nested 2 levels. It has a master page, and that master page has a master page. When I stick controls in a ContentPlaceHolder with the name "bcr" - I have to find the controls like so: Label lblName =(Label)Master.Master.FindControl("bcr").FindControl("bcr").FindControl("Conditional1").FindControl("ctl03").FindControl("lblName"); Am I totally lost? Or is this how it needs to be done? I am about to work with a MultiView, which is inside of a conditional content control. So if I want to change the view I have to get a reference to that control right? Getting that reference is going to be even nastier! Is there a better way? Thanks
