  • Console program settings

    I have a generalized program to be run both in windows and linux. When I run the program in the windows console it halts at a point where the .sh file is to be executed with a window popping asking for "which program to use" and requires manual intervention to cancel. My question is: How do I change the setting available in the console that will let not the execution to halt when an unknown file extension is encountered?

  • Prevent Windows 7 PC from sleeping while a download is in progress

    While I'm downloading a large file on Windows 7 using Google Chrome, my computer goes to sleep. I could obviously set the computer to not sleep at all (or change the interval before the computer sleeps). What I want to know is: Is there a way to make Windows 7 not sleep as long as a download is in progress? (perhaps when any network activity is going on?). I've looked in the Advanced Power settings, and haven't seen any obvious setting.

  • When using autoproxy, how can you see the proxy configuration?

    I set the global settings of the machine to use an autoproxy configuration script. e.g. http://autoproxy.mycompanydomain.exe:8080, but still there are some network apps that require an explicit proxy setting. I assume that this is because those apps don't know how to access the global proxy settings. How can i see the global proxy settings that were configured automatically so i can copy them to the settings of these troublesome apps?

  • Can I combine two LANs into one to get double speed?

    Hey guys, I have 2 LANs in my own PC & 2 Routers (TP-Link WR941N each) with 2 internet accounts (512Kbps each) connected to the same ISP signal & company using NanoStation 5 from ubnt. As you know the connections work separately by default! (I use Windows 7 64bit) Can I merge them to get double speed (download/upload simultaneously) using regedit or special software or any other method?   • Bugzilla not sending emails, even to the test file?

    I have installed and setup Bugzilla3 for my domain. Everything is working properly except for the email functionality. The server uses Postfix, and that works for my PHP application, and command line. In Bugzilla, I have tried setting the mail_delivery_method to 'test', and nothing shows up in data/mailer.testfile, it is completely blank... I have no idea where to go from here, any ideas on what to try next?

    An svn server that I managed crashed. The server is up and running again, but I can't manage to get svn running anymore. I followed the instructions listed here: http://mark.koli.ch/2010/03/howto-setting-up-your-own-svn-server-using-apache-and-mod-dav-svn.html Yet when I try to start apache using /etc/init.d/httpd start I get a [FAILED] message. There is no content in the error logs. Any suggestions?

    I recently found a post on switching between different sound cards with one key stroke (the answer I ended up using is Default Audio Changer). I am looking for similar functionality for switching between monitors. Win+P is not good enough, as it loops between four choices: Computer | Duplicate | Extend | Projector, and I want to toggle only between two monitors. It also takes at least four key strokes to toggle.

    I have a Win7-64 with Home Premium. Recently I installed Torchlight via Steam on my PC and tried to keep the shortcut in my Games Folder. Instead, it make a blank icon (as in, default application icon) which doesn't launch the game and un-removable. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the icon?

  • Copy/Paste from Word Document to Web

    Trying to save time and I need an easy way to make sure copied text from word is UTF-8 compatible for the web. Generally I have to copy and paste 4 or 5 pages of text at a time. Going through it and correcting characters individually is a real time waster. Anyone have any ideas? Is there a setting in Microsoft Word I might be missing?

Some guides show: Separate /home, /usr, /var and /tmp partitions Another one suggested something like this: / 4GB /boot 512MB /tmp 1GB /home 5GB /usr 5GB /var 5GB What is the best way to accomplish this?

  • PowerPoint Paste HTML Loss of Color

    I am trying to paste HTML into powerpoint 2007. Everything works ok except that I lose the color of the text and the font. I am using the paste special method selecting html. Now I have read that some people have fixed the color loss problem by setting a color printer as their default. But that does not seem to be working for me nor would it fix the font. Basically, the current setup involves me needing to manually go in after first boot and set the newly installed JRE as the default using the alternatives --config command. Is there a way for me to pass arguments to alternatives so I don't have to manually pick the correct JRE?

If I try to create a new project I can see Silverlight project templates but only seem to be able to target Silverlight 3. Is Silverlight 4 not part of vs2010 pro by default? I also noticed the msbuild targets is missing ie the v4.0 folder doesn't exist at the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\Silverlight\ Any help/thoughts would be much appreciated. Things we got so far: Linux Server ( probably Debian ) 3 Desktops + some Laptops ( Win / linux ) NAS ~10 people working 50/50 devs/normal people :) Things we want to achieve: Working from home should be easy, VPN and firewall single username/password for everybody windows/linux desktops should have automatic synched home folders / preferably from the NAS automated hostnames for apps so others can access them like http//john.dev_app from everywhere in the VPN Need starting point and documentation on setting up with Open source tools like OpenVPN and OpenLDAP Any recommendations or links to further literature are welcome.

  • [CentOS 4.8] nslookup resolves domains to IPs, but I can't get a response to pings to external servers

    I have a fresh install of CentOS 4.8 running on an internal development server. I haven't done anything to it besides setting up sudoers and SSH. I can SSH into the server and from there resolve domains to IPs and ping internal servers, but for some reason I don't get any response from pinging external servers. The software firewall is disabled, and the problem is present with both static and DHCP-assigned network configurations.   • Windows Firewall problem GP0 SP3

    Hi All, I have recently rolled XP service pack 3 out on the estate, and for some reason it is enabling the windows firewall. I have a group policy that disables the windows firewall but SP3 is turning it on. Is there any way in GPO that I can turn this off, or is there a setting in SP3 that can be done globally. Cheers
