  • How to use a separate class to validate credit card numbers in C#

    - by EvanRyan
    I have set up a class to validate credit card numbers. The credit card type and number are selected on a form in a separate class. I'm trying to figure out how to get the credit card type and number that are selected in the other class (frmPayment) in to my credit card class algorithm: public enum CardType { MasterCard, Visa, AmericanExpress } public sealed class CardValidator { public static string SelectedCardType { get; private set; } public static string CardNumber { get; private set; } private CardValidator(string selectedCardType, string cardNumber) { SelectedCardType = selectedCardType; CardNumber = cardNumber; } public static bool Validate(CardType cardType, string cardNumber) { byte[] number = new byte[16]; int length = 0; for (int i = 0; i < cardNumber.Length; i++) { if (char.IsDigit(cardNumber, i)) { if (length == 16) return false; number[length++] = byte.Parse(cardNumber[i]); //not working. find different way to parse } } switch(cardType) { case CardType.MasterCard: if(length != 16) return false; if(number[0] != 5 || number[1] == 0 || number[1] > 5) return false; break; case CardType.Visa: if(length != 16 & length != 13) return false; if(number[0] != 4) return false; break; case CardType.AmericanExpress: if(length != 15) return false; if(number[0] != 3 || (number[1] != 4 & number[1] != 7)) return false; break; } // Use Luhn Algorithm to validate int sum = 0; for(int i = length - 1; i >= 0; i--) { if(i % 2 == length % 2) { int n = number[i] * 2; sum += (n / 10) + (n % 10); } else sum += number[i]; } return (sum % 10 == 0); } }

  • AES Encrypting a Microsoft Access Field Via VBA

    - by Jason
    I need to create a Microsoft Access database, but have a need, in one of my tables, for a single field to be strongly encrypted. Since AES requires both a key and an initialization vector, I've decided to solve this problem by requiring a password to access the database (as the key), and a field in the table to hold a SHA1 hash of the plaintext of the encrypted field. Does anyone know where I can find VBA-compatible code to actually do the encryption?

  • Initialization vector - DES/triple-des algorithm

    - by user312373
    Hi, In order to generate the encrypted data we would need to define a Key that should suffice generating the data. But in .net DESCryptoServiceProvider requires Key and Intialisation Vector to generate the encrypted data. In this regard, I would like to know the importance & the benefit gained by defining this initialisation vector field. Is this mandatory while encryption using DES algorithm. Pls share your thoughts on the same. Regards, Balu

  • From SEO point of view, is it better to use Domain-Dash.com or Domainwithoutdash.com?

    - by Msc. Adrian Lopez
    I have been reading forums and so, but found not a clear answer or nor conclusive, about the strategic decission of using domain-with-dash.com or notusingdashes.com Is there a problem or disadvantage in ranking for those key words? Is it better having the-domain-with-dash.com than shortdomain.net? many cases you dont have the dot.com available for that specific key word. what are your opinions, please prove facts, or add links to the source. • WPF - Random hanging with file browser attached behaviour.

    - by Stimul8d
    Hi, I have an attached behavior defined thusly,.. public static class FileBrowserBehaviour { public static bool GetBrowsesOnClick(DependencyObject obj) { return (bool)obj.GetValue(BrowsesOnClickProperty); } public static void SetBrowsesOnClick(DependencyObject obj, bool value) { obj.SetValue(BrowsesOnClickProperty, value); } // Using a DependencyProperty as the backing store for BrowsesOnClick. This enables animation, styling, binding, etc... public static readonly DependencyProperty BrowsesOnClickProperty = DependencyProperty.RegisterAttached("BrowsesOnClick", typeof(bool), typeof(FileBrowserBehaviour), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(false, new PropertyChangedCallback(BrowsesOnClickChanged))); public static void BrowsesOnClickChanged(DependencyObject obj, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs args) { FrameworkElement fe = obj as FrameworkElement; if ((bool)args.NewValue) { fe.PreviewMouseLeftButtonDown += new MouseButtonEventHandler(OpenFileBrowser); } else { fe.PreviewMouseLeftButtonDown -= new MouseButtonEventHandler(OpenFileBrowser); } } static void OpenFileBrowser(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { var tb = sender as TextBox; if (tb.Text.Length < 1 || tb.Text=="Click to browse..") { OpenFileDialog ofd = new OpenFileDialog(); ofd.Filter = "Executables | *.exe"; if (ofd.ShowDialog() == true) { Debug.WriteLine("Setting textbox text-" + ofd.FileName); tb.Text = ofd.FileName; Debug.WriteLine("Set textbox text"); } } } } It's a nice simple attached behavior which pops open an OpenFileDialog when you click on a textbox and puts the filename in the box when you're done. It works maybe 40% of the time but the rest of the time the whole app hangs. The call stack at this point looks like this - [Managed to Native Transition] WindowsBase.dll!MS.Win32.UnsafeNativeMethods.GetMessageW(ref System.Windows.Interop.MSG msg, System.Runtime.InteropServices.HandleRef hWnd, int uMsgFilterMin, int uMsgFilterMax) + 0x15 bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.GetMessage(ref System.Windows.Interop.MSG msg, System.IntPtr hwnd, int minMessage, int maxMessage) + 0x48 bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.PushFrameImpl(System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame frame = {System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame}) + 0x8b bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.PushFrame(System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherFrame frame) + 0x49 bytes WindowsBase.dll!System.Windows.Threading.Dispatcher.Run() + 0x4c bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.RunDispatcher(object ignore) + 0x1e bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.RunInternal(System.Windows.Window window) + 0x6f bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.Run(System.Windows.Window window) + 0x26 bytes PresentationFramework.dll!System.Windows.Application.Run() + 0x19 bytes Debugatron.exe!Debugatron.App.Main() + 0x5e bytes C# [Native to Managed Transition] [Managed to Native Transition] mscorlib.dll!System.AppDomain.nExecuteAssembly(System.Reflection.Assembly assembly, string[] args) + 0x19 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ManifestRunner.Run(bool checkAptModel) + 0x6e bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ManifestRunner.ExecuteAsAssembly() + 0x84 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ApplicationActivator.CreateInstance(System.ActivationContext activationContext, string[] activationCustomData) + 0x65 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Runtime.Hosting.ApplicationActivator.CreateInstance(System.ActivationContext activationContext) + 0xa bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Activator.CreateInstance(System.ActivationContext activationContext) + 0x3e bytes Microsoft.VisualStudio.HostingProcess.Utilities.dll!Microsoft.VisualStudio.HostingProcess.HostProc.RunUsersAssemblyDebugInZone() + 0x23 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context(object state) + 0x66 bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(System.Threading.ExecutionContext executionContext, System.Threading.ContextCallback callback, object state) + 0x6f bytes mscorlib.dll!System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart() + 0x44 bytes Now, I've seen this kind of thing before when doing some asynchronous stuff but there's none of that going on at that point. The only thread alive is the UI thread! Also, I always get that last debug statement when it does hang. Can anyone point me in the right direction? This one's driving me crazy!

  • Forcing a checkbox bound to a DataSource to update when it has not been viewed yet.

    - by Scott Chamberlain
    Here is a test framework to show what I am doing: create a new project add a tabbed control on tab 1 put a button on tab 2 put a check box paste this code for its code (use default names for controls) public partial class Form1 : Form { private List<bool> boolList = new List<bool>(); BindingSource bs = new BindingSource(); public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); boolList.Add(false); bs.DataSource = boolList; checkBox1.DataBindings.Add("Checked", bs, ""); this.button1.Click += new System.EventHandler(this.button1_Click); this.checkBox1.CheckedChanged += new System.EventHandler(this.checkBox1_CheckedChanged); } bool updating = false; private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { updating = true; boolList[0] = true; bs.ResetBindings(false); Application.DoEvents(); updating = false; } private void checkBox1_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!updating) MessageBox.Show("CheckChanged fired outside of updating"); } } The issue is if you run the program and look at tab 2 then press the button on tab 1 the program works as expected, however if you press the button on tab 1 then look at tab 2 the event for the checkbox will not fire untill you look at tab 2. The reason for this is the controll on tab 2 is not in the "created" state, so its binding to change the checkbox from unchecked to checked does not happen until after the control has been "Created". checkbox1.CreateControl() does not do anything because according to MSDN CreateControl does not create a control handle if the control's Visible property is false. You can either call the CreateHandle method or access the Handle property to create the control's handle regardless of the control's visibility, but in this case, no window handles are created for the control's children. I tried getting the value of Handle(there is no public CreateHandle() for CheckBox) but still the same result. Any suggestions other than have the program quickly flash all of my tabs that have data-bound check boxes when it first loads? EDIT-- per Jaxidian's suggestion I created a new class public class newcheckbox : CheckBox { public new void CreateHandle() { base.CreateHandle(); } } I call CreateHandle() right after updating = true same results as before.

  • What is the proper use of boost::fusion::push_back?

    - by Kyle
    // ... snipped includes for iostream and fusion ... namespace fusion = boost::fusion; class Base { protected: int x; public: Base() : x(0) {} void chug() { x++; cout << "I'm a base.. x is now " << x << endl; } }; class Alpha : public Base { public: void chug() { x += 2; cout << "Hi, I'm an alpha, x is now " << x << endl; } }; class Bravo : public Base { public: void chug() { x += 3; cout << "Hello, I'm a bravo; x is now " << x << endl; } }; struct chug { template<typename T> void operator()(T& t) const { t->chug(); } }; int main() { typedef fusion::vector<Base*, Alpha*, Bravo*, Base*> Stuff; Stuff stuff(new Base, new Alpha, new Bravo, new Base); fusion::for_each(stuff, chug()); // Mutates each element in stuff as expected /* Output: I'm a base.. x is now 1 Hi, I'm an alpha, x is now 2 Hello, I'm a bravo; x is now 3 I'm a base.. x is now 1 */ cout << endl; // If I don't put 'const' in front of Stuff... typedef fusion::result_of::push_back<const Stuff, Alpha*>::type NewStuff; // ... then this complains because it wants stuff to be const: NewStuff newStuff = fusion::push_back(stuff, new Alpha); // ... But since stuff is now const, I can no longer mutate its elements :( fusion::for_each(newStuff, chug()); return 0; }; How do I get for_each(newStuff, chug()) to work? (Note: I'm only assuming from the overly brief documentation on boost::fusion that I am supposed to create a new vector every time I call push_back.)

  • Optimizing tasks to reduce CPU in a trading application

    - by Joel
    Hello, I have designed a trading application that handles customers stocks investment portfolio. I am using two datastore kinds: Stocks - Contains unique stock name and its daily percent change. UserTransactions - Contains information regarding a specific purchase of a stock made by a user : the value of the purchase along with a reference to Stock for the current purchase. db.Model python modules: class Stocks (db.Model): stockname = db.StringProperty(multiline=True) dailyPercentChange=db.FloatProperty(default=1.0) class UserTransactions (db.Model): buyer = db.UserProperty() value=db.FloatProperty() stockref = db.ReferenceProperty(Stocks) Once an hour I need to update the database: update the daily percent change in Stocks and then update the value of all entities in UserTransactions that refer to that stock. The following python module iterates over all the stocks, update the dailyPercentChange property, and invoke a task to go over all UserTransactions entities which refer to the stock and update their value: Stocks.py # Iterate over all stocks in datastore for stock in Stocks.all(): # update daily percent change in datastore db.run_in_transaction(updateStockTxn, stock.key()) # create a task to update all user transactions entities referring to this stock taskqueue.add(url='/task', params={'stock_key': str(stock.key(), 'value' : self.request.get ('some_val_for_stock') }) def updateStockTxn(stock_key): #fetch the stock again - necessary to avoid concurrency updates stock = db.get(stock_key) stock.dailyPercentChange= data.get('some_val_for_stock') # I get this value from outside ... some more calculations here ... stock.put() Task.py (/task) # Amount of transaction per task amountPerCall=10 stock=db.get(self.request.get("stock_key")) # Get all user transactions which point to current stock user_transaction_query=stock.usertransactions_set cursor=self.request.get("cursor") if cursor: user_transaction_query.with_cursor(cursor) # Spawn another task if more than 10 transactions are in datastore transactions = user_transaction_query.fetch(amountPerCall) if len(transactions)==amountPerCall: taskqueue.add(url='/task', params={'stock_key': str(stock.key(), 'value' : self.request.get ('some_val_for_stock'), 'cursor': user_transaction_query.cursor() }) # Iterate over all transaction pointing to stock and update their value for transaction in transactions: db.run_in_transaction(updateUserTransactionTxn, transaction.key()) def updateUserTransactionTxn(transaction_key): #fetch the transaction again - necessary to avoid concurrency updates transaction = db.get(transaction_key) transaction.value= transaction.value* self.request.get ('some_val_for_stock') db.put(transaction) The problem: Currently the system works great, but the problem is that it is not scaling well… I have around 100 Stocks with 300 User Transactions, and I run the update every hour. In the dashboard, I see that the task.py takes around 65% of the CPU (Stock.py takes around 20%-30%) and I am using almost all of the 6.5 free CPU hours given to me by app engine. I have no problem to enable billing and pay for additional CPU, but the problem is the scaling of the system… Using 6.5 CPU hours for 100 stocks is very poor. I was wondering, given the requirements of the system as mentioned above, if there is a better and more efficient implementation (or just a small change that can help with the current implemntation) than the one presented here. Thanks!! Joel

  • GCC: Simple inheritance test fails

    - by knight666
    I'm building an open source 2D game engine called YoghurtGum. Right now I'm working on the Android port, using the NDK provided by Google. I was going mad because of the errors I was getting in my application, so I made a simple test program: class Base { public: Base() { } virtual ~Base() { } }; // class Base class Vehicle : virtual public Base { public: Vehicle() : Base() { } ~Vehicle() { } }; // class Vehicle class Car : public Vehicle { public: Car() : Base(), Vehicle() { } ~Car() { } }; // class Car int main(int a_Data, char** argv) { Car* stupid = new Car(); return 0; } Seems easy enough, right? Here's how I compile it, which is the same way I compile the rest of my code: /home/oem/android-ndk-r3/build/prebuilt/linux-x86/arm-eabi-4.4.0/bin/arm-eabi-g++ -g -std=c99 -Wall -Werror -O2 -w -shared -fshort-enums -I ../../YoghurtGum/src/GLES -I ../../YoghurtGum/src -I /home/oem/android-ndk-r3/build/platforms/android-5/arch-arm/usr/include -c src/Inheritance.cpp -o intermediate/Inheritance.o (Line breaks are added for clarity). This compiles fine. But then we get to the linker: /home/oem/android-ndk-r3/build/prebuilt/linux-x86/arm-eabi-4.4.0/bin/arm-eabi-gcc -lstdc++ -Wl, --entry=main, -rpath-link=/system/lib, -rpath-link=/home/oem/android-ndk-r3/build/platforms/android-5/arch-arm/usr/lib, -dynamic-linker=/system/bin/linker, -L/home/oem/android-ndk-r3/build/prebuilt/linux-x86/arm-eabi-4.4.0/lib/gcc/arm-eabi/4.4.0, -L/home/oem/android-ndk-r3/build/platforms/android-5/arch-arm/usr/lib, -rpath=../../YoghurtGum/lib/GLES -nostdlib -lm -lc -lGLESv1_CM -z /home/oem/android-ndk-r3/build/platforms/android-5/arch-arm/usr/lib/crtbegin_dynamic.o /home/oem/android-ndk-r3/build/platforms/android-5/arch-arm/usr/lib/crtend_android.o intermediate/Inheritance.o ../../YoghurtGum/bin/YoghurtGum.a -o bin/Galaxians.android As you can probably tell, there's a lot of cruft in there that isn't really needed. That's because it doesn't work. It fails with the following errors: intermediate/Inheritance.o:(.rodata._ZTI3Car[typeinfo for Car]+0x0): undefined reference to `vtable for __cxxabiv1::__si_class_type_info' intermediate/Inheritance.o:(.rodata._ZTI7Vehicle[typeinfo for Vehicle]+0x0): undefined reference to `vtable for __cxxabiv1::__vmi_class_type_info' intermediate/Inheritance.o:(.rodata._ZTI4Base[typeinfo for Base]+0x0): undefined reference to `vtable for __cxxabiv1::__class_type_info' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [bin/Galaxians.android] Fout 1 These are the same errors I get from my actual application. If someone could explain to me where I went wrong in my test or what option or I forgot in my linker, I would be very, extremely grateful. Thanks in advance. UPDATE: When I make my destructors non-inlined, I get new and more exciting link errors: intermediate/Inheritance.o:(.rodata+0x78): undefined reference to `vtable for __cxxabiv1::__si_class_type_info' intermediate/Inheritance.o:(.rodata+0x90): undefined reference to `vtable for __cxxabiv1::__vmi_class_type_info' intermediate/Inheritance.o:(.rodata+0xb0): undefined reference to `vtable for __cxxabiv1::__class_type_info' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [bin/Galaxians.android] Fout 1

  • How can I capture the keystroke that triggers "CellEndEdit" on a DataGridView in C#?

    - by Andy Stampor
    I have a DataGridView that is set to EditOnF2. I do some special processing of data in the CellEndEdit eventhandler that sets the value of the cell. I still want the functionality of the EditOnKeystrokeOrF2 of reverting to the original value when the Esc key is pressed. Unfortunately, at the CellEndEdit eventhandler, I don't see a way to tell what caused the CellEndEdit event to be fired. I only want to change the value of the cell if the Esc key is not pressed. How can I tell if it was or not? Edit: It is worth noting that the KeyDown event does not get fired when the cell is being edited, nor for the final ending keystroke. Edit2: I have tried the KeyPreview suggestion, but the form still does not capture the Escape key being pressed. Edit3: I've been experimenting with trying to get this working. I originally posted some of the following as a separate post, but feel it might be more relevant to include it here. I have a cell in a DataGridView that is now set to EditProgrammatically. To capture the keystroke that starts an edit, I am setting the cell.Value equal to the keystroke. However, this ruins the "Escape" functionality of the cell - when you press escape, instead of reverting to the original value, it reverts to the keystroke that I programmatically inserted into the cell. I believe that if I could set the "EditedFormattedValue" on a cell, this would be where I want to put my keystroke value, however this appears to be read only. How can I accomplish what I am attempting? An example to clarify: If the cell has a value of "54.3" in it, and I press the "9" key, it begins editing the cell and places a "9" there. If I hit Escape, instead of reverting to "54.3" it reverts to "9". What I want is for it to return to its original value of "54.3". So, I am trying to tackle this issue from both the beginning and the end. I think the real problem is that I am overwriting the original value and have no way to determine if I should revert it or not. Edit4: It looks like CellValidating might be worth using, but I am seeing strange behavior when I experiment with it. In a new project, I create the DataGridView and register for the various events and see that CellValidating is fired before the CellEndEdit. However, in my project where I am trying to get this to work, CellEndEdit is firing BEFORE CellValidating. Any ideas on what the difference might be?

  • How to update textbox value

    - by Thomas
    I have a textbox in my View. I input a number into the textbox, and then i want the controller to multiply the number and put the result into the textbox. How can I do that? This is what i have done already. Let's start with the View: <%@ Page Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<dynamic>" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head runat="server"> <title>Index</title> </head> <body> <div> <h2>Please enter a number</h2> <% using (Html.BeginForm()) { %> <%=Html.TextBox("number")%> <input type="submit" value="Index" name ="Index" /> <% } %> </div> </body> </html> As you can see I have a simple textbox and button. This is my controller: using System.Web.Mvc; namespace MvcApplication1.Controllers { public class HomeController : Controller { // // GET: /Home/ public ActionResult Index() { return View(); } [HttpPost] public ActionResult Index(int number) { number = number * 2; ViewData["id"] = number; return View(ViewData); } } } But nothing really happens. Yeah, I see the Post is being done, and the coded steps into public ActionResult Index(int number). I see that the number is taken from the textbox, it's multiplied correctly. I've tried using ViewData as you can see. I've also used TempData. This is another code for the textbox in the View I've tried: <%=Html.TextBox("number", ViewData["number"])%> But it doesn't matter. The textbox doesn't get updated with the new value. How can I do that?

  • CLR 4.0 inlining policy? (maybe bug with MethodImplOptions.NoInlining)

    - by ControlFlow
    I've testing some new CLR 4.0 behavior in method inlining (cross-assembly inlining) and found some strage results: Assembly ClassLib.dll: using System.Diagnostics; using System; using System.Reflection; using System.Security; using System.Runtime.CompilerServices; namespace ClassLib { public static class A { static readonly MethodInfo GetExecuting = typeof(Assembly).GetMethod("GetExecutingAssembly"); public static Assembly Foo(out StackTrace stack) // 13 bytes { // explicit call to GetExecutingAssembly() stack = new StackTrace(); return Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly(); } public static Assembly Bar(out StackTrace stack) // 25 bytes { // reflection call to GetExecutingAssembly() stack = new StackTrace(); return (Assembly) GetExecuting.Invoke(null, null); } public static Assembly Baz(out StackTrace stack) // 9 bytes { stack = new StackTrace(); return null; } public static Assembly Bob(out StackTrace stack) // 13 bytes { // call of non-inlinable method! return SomeSecurityCriticalMethod(out stack); } [SecurityCritical, MethodImpl(MethodImplOptions.NoInlining)] static Assembly SomeSecurityCriticalMethod(out StackTrace stack) { stack = new StackTrace(); return Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly(); } } } Assembly ConsoleApp.exe using System; using ClassLib; using System.Diagnostics; class Program { static void Main() { Console.WriteLine("runtime: {0}", Environment.Version); StackTrace stack; Console.WriteLine("Foo: {0}\n{1}", A.Foo(out stack), stack); Console.WriteLine("Bar: {0}\n{1}", A.Bar(out stack), stack); Console.WriteLine("Baz: {0}\n{1}", A.Baz(out stack), stack); Console.WriteLine("Bob: {0}\n{1}", A.Bob(out stack), stack); } } Results: runtime: 4.0.30128.1 Foo: ClassLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null at ClassLib.A.Foo(StackTrace& stack) at Program.Main() Bar: ClassLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null at ClassLib.A.Bar(StackTrace& stack) at Program.Main() Baz: at Program.Main() Bob: ClassLib, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null at Program.Main() So questions are: Why JIT does not inlined Foo and Bar calls as Baz does? They are lower than 32 bytes of IL and are good candidates for inlining. Why JIT inlined call of Bob and inner call of SomeSecurityCriticalMethod that is marked with the [MethodImpl(MethodImplOptions.NoInlining)] attribute? Why GetExecutingAssembly returns a valid assembly when is called by inlined Baz and SomeSecurityCriticalMethod methods? I've expect that it performs the stack walk to detect the executing assembly, but stack will contains only Program.Main() call and no methods of ClassLib assenbly, to ConsoleApp should be returned.

  • Strange results - I obtain same value for all keys

    - by Pietro Luciani
    I have a problem with mapreduce. Giving as input a list of song ("Songname"#"UserID"#"boolean") i must have as result a song list in which is specified how many time different useres listen them... so a output ("Songname","timelistening"). I used hashtable to allow only one couple . With short files it works well but when I put as input a list about 1000000 of records it returns me the same value (20) for all records. This is my mapper: public static class CanzoniMapper extends Mapper<Object, Text, Text, IntWritable>{ private IntWritable userID = new IntWritable(0); private Text song = new Text(); public void map(Object key, Text value, Context context) throws IOException, InterruptedException { /*StringTokenizer itr = new StringTokenizer(value.toString()); while (itr.hasMoreTokens()) { word.set(itr.nextToken()); context.write(word, one); }*/ String[] caratteri = value.toString().split("#"); if(caratteri[2].equals("1")){ song.set(caratteri[0]); userID.set(Integer.parseInt(caratteri[1])); context.write(song,userID); } } } This is my reducer: public static class CanzoniReducer extends Reducer<Text,IntWritable,Text,IntWritable> { private IntWritable result = new IntWritable(); public void reduce(Text key, Iterable<IntWritable> values, Context context) throws IOException, InterruptedException { Hashtable<IntWritable,Text> doppioni = new Hashtable<IntWritable,Text>(); for (IntWritable val : values) { doppioni.put(val,key); } result.set(doppioni.size()); //doppioni.clear(); context.write(key,result); } } and main: Configuration conf = new Configuration(); Job job = new Job(conf, "word count"); job.setJarByClass(Canzoni.class); job.setMapperClass(CanzoniMapper.class); //job.setCombinerClass(CanzoniReducer.class); //job.setNumReduceTasks(2); job.setReducerClass(CanzoniReducer.class); job.setOutputKeyClass(Text.class); job.setOutputValueClass(IntWritable.class); FileInputFormat.addInputPath(job, new Path(args[0])); FileOutputFormat.setOutputPath(job, new Path(args[1])); System.exit(job.waitForCompletion(true) ? 0 : 1); Any idea???

  • Error Handling for Application in PHP

    I was wondering if someone can show me a good way to handle errors in my PHP app, that i am also easily able to reuse in my codes. So far i have been using the following functions: Inline Errors function display_errors_for($fieldname) { global $errors; if (isset($errors[$fieldname])) { return '<label for="' .$fieldname. '" class="error">' . ucfirst($errors[$fieldname]). '</label>'; } else { return false; } } All Errrors function display_all_errors($showCounter = true) { global $errors; $counter = 0; foreach ($errors as $errorFieldName => $errorText) { if ($showCounter == true) { $counter++; echo '<li>' . $counter . ' - <label for="' .$errorFieldName. '">' .$errorText. '</label></li>'; } else { echo '<li><label for="' .$errorFieldName. '">' .$errorText. '</label></li>'; } } } I have a $errors = array(); defined on the top of my global file, so it is appended to all files. The way i use it is that if i encounter an error, i push a new error key/value to the $errors array holder, something like the following: if (strlen($username) < 3) { $errors['username'] = "usernames cannot be less then 3 characters."; } This all works great and all, But i wondering if some one has a better approach for this? with classes? i don't think i want to use Exceptions with try/catch seems like an overkill to me. I'm planning to make a new app, and i'll be getting my hands wet with OOP alot, though i have already made apps using OOP but this time i'm planning to go even deeper and use OOP approach more extensively. What i have in mind is something like this, though its just a basic class i will add further detail to it as i go deeper and deeper in my app to see what it needs. class Errors { public $errors = array(); public function __construct() { // Initialize Default Values // Initialize Methods } public function __destruct() { //nothing here too... } public function add($errorField, $errorDesc) { if (!is_string($errorField)) return false; if (!is_string($errorDesc)) return false; $this->errors[$errorField] = $errorDesc; } public function display($errorsArray) { // code to iterate through the array and display all errors. } } Please share your thoughts, if this is a good way to make a reusable class to store and display errors for an entire app, or is getting more familiar with exceptions and try/catch my only choice?

  • Injecting the mailer service, got "The service definition 'mailer' does not exist"?

    - by Gremo
    This is the class where the service mailer should be injected: namespace Gremo\SkebbyBundle\Transport; use Swift_Mailer; use Gremo\SkebbyBundle\Message\AbstractSkebbyMessage; class MailerTransport extends AbstractSkebbyTransport { /** * @var \Swift_Mailer */ private $mailer; public function __construct(Swift_Mailer $mailer) { $this->mailer = $mailer; } /** * @param \Gremo\SkebbyBundle\Message\AbstractSkebbyMessage $message * @return void */ public function executeTransport(AbstractSkebbyMessage $message) { /* ... */ } } Service id is gremo_skebby.transport.mailer, placed inside mailer.xml file: <parameters> <parameter key="gremo_skebby.converter.swift_message.class"> Gremo\SkebbyBundle\Converter\SwiftMessageConverter </parameter> <parameter key="gremo_skebby.transport.mailer.class"> Gremo\SkebbyBundle\Transport\MailerTransport </parameter> </parameters> <services> <service id="gremo_skebby.converter.swift_message" class="%gremo_skebby.converter.swift_message.class%" public="false" /> <service id="gremo_skebby.transport.mailer" class="%gremo_skebby.transport.mailer.class%" public="false" parent="gremo_skebby.tranport.abstract_transport"> <argument type="service" id="mailer" /> </service> </services> When i try to inject the gremo_skebby.transport.mailer into another service (an helper) i get: Symfony\Component\DependencyInjection\Exception\InvalidArgumentException : The service definition "mailer" does not exist. That is strange, because command php app/console container:debug shows that the mailer service actually exists: mailer container Swift_Mailer I'm loading mailer.xml file dynamically by the extension: if(in_array($configs['transport'], array('http', 'rest', 'mailer'))) { $loader->load('transport.xml'); $loader->load($configs['transport'] . '.xml'); $container->setAlias('gremo_skebby.transport', 'gremo_skebby.transport.' . $configs['transport']); } $loader->load('skebby.xml'); ... and gremo_skebby.transport service is injected into gremo_skebby.skebby service (skebby.xml): <parameters> <parameter key="gremo_skebby.skebby.class"> Gremo\SkebbyBundle\Skebby </parameter> </parameters> <services> <service id="gremo_skebby.skebby" class="%gremo_skebby.skebby.class%"> <argument type="service" id="gremo_skebby.transport" /> </service> </services> A quick test is giving me the same InvalidArgumentException: public function testSkebbyWithMailerTransport() { $loader = new GremoSkebbyExtension(); $container = new ContainerBuilder(); $config = $this->getEmptyConfiguration(); $loader->load(array($config), $container); $this->assertTrue($container->hasDefinition('gremo_skebby.transport.mailer')); $this->assertTrue($container->hasDefinition('gremo_skebby.skebby')); $this->assertInstanceOf('Gremo\SkebbyBundle\Skebby', $container->get('gremo_skebby.skebby')); }

  • translate stored procedure - to Linq2SQL (count, max, group, orderby)

    - by Walter
    I've two tables (1:N) CREATE TABLE master (idMaster int identity (1,1) not null, TheName varchar( 100) null, constraint pk_master primary key(idMaster) clustered) and - CREATE TABLE lnk (idSlave int not null, idMaster int not null, constraint pk_lnk_master_slave(idSlave) primary key clustered) link between Master.idMaster and lnk.idMaster I've a SQL query: select max (master.idMaster) as idMaster, master.theName, count (lnk.idSlave) as freq from lnk inner join master ON lnk.idMaster = master.idMaster Group by master.theName order by freq desc, master.theName I need to translate this T-SQL query to a Linq-to-SQL statement, preferably in C#

  • Sockets, Threads and Services in android, how to make them work together ?

    - by Spredzy
    Hi all, I am facing a probleme with threads and sockets I cant figure it out, if someone can help me please i would really appreciate. There are the facts : I have a service class NetworkService, inside this class I have a Socket attribute. I would like it be at the state of connected for the whole lifecycle of the service. To connect the socket I do it in a thread, so if the server has to timeout, it would not block my UI thread. Problem is, into the thread where I connect my socket everything is fine, it is connected and I can talk to my server, once this thread is over and I try to reuse the socket, in another thread, I have the error message Socket is not connected. Questions are : - Is the socket automatically disconnected at the end of the thread? - Is their anyway we can pass back a value from a called thread to the caller ? Thanks a lot, Here is my code public class NetworkService extends Service { private Socket mSocket = new Socket(); private void _connectSocket(String addr, int port) { Runnable connect = new connectSocket(this.mSocket, addr, port); new Thread(connect).start(); } private void _authentification() { Runnable auth = new authentification(); new Thread(auth).start(); } private INetwork.Stub mBinder = new INetwork.Stub() { @Override public int doConnect(String addr, int port) throws RemoteException { _connectSocket(addr, port); _authentification(); return 0; } }; class connectSocket implements Runnable { String addrSocket; int portSocket; int TIMEOUT=5000; public connectSocket(String addr, int port) { addrSocket = addr; portSocket = port; } @Override public void run() { SocketAddress socketAddress = new InetSocketAddress(addrSocket, portSocket); try { mSocket.connect(socketAddress, TIMEOUT); PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(mSocket.getOutputStream(), true); out.println("test42"); Log.i("connectSocket()", "Connection Succesful"); } catch (IOException e) { Log.e("connectSocket()", e.getMessage()); e.printStackTrace(); } } } class authentification implements Runnable { private String constructFirstConnectQuery() { String query = "toto"; return query; } @Override public void run() { BufferedReader in; PrintWriter out; String line = ""; try { in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(mSocket.getInputStream())); out = new PrintWriter(mSocket.getOutputStream(), true); out.println(constructFirstConnectQuery()); while (mSocket.isConnected()) { line = in.readLine(); Log.e("LINE", "[Current]- " + line); } } catch (IOException e) {e.printStackTrace();} } }

  • Should we denormalize database to improve performance?

    - by Groo
    We have a requirement to store 500 measurements per second, coming from several devices. Each measurement consists of a timestamp, a quantity type, and several vector values. Right now there is 8 vector values per measurement, and we may consider this number to be constant for needs of our prototype project. We are using HNibernate. Tests are done in SQLite (disk file db, not in-memory), but production will probably be MsSQL. Our Measurement entity class is the one that holds a single measurement, and looks like this: public class Measurement { public virtual Guid Id { get; private set; } public virtual Device Device { get; private set; } public virtual Timestamp Timestamp { get; private set; } public virtual IList<VectorValue> Vectors { get; private set; } } Vector values are stored in a separate table, so that each of them references its parent measurement through a foreign key. We have done a couple of things to ensure that generated SQL is (reasonably) efficient: we are using Guid.Comb for generating IDs, we are flushing around 500 items in a single transaction, ADO.Net batch size is set to 100 (I think SQLIte does not support batch updates? But it might be useful later). The problem Right now we can insert 150-200 measurements per second (which is not fast enough, although this is SQLite we are talking about). Looking at the generated SQL, we can see that in a single transaction we insert (as expected): 1 timestamp 1 measurement 8 vector values which means that we are actually doing 10x more single table inserts: 1500-2000 per second. If we placed everything (all 8 vector values and the timestamp) into the measurement table (adding 9 dedicated columns), it seems that we could increase our insert speed up to 10 times. Switching to SQL server will improve performance, but we would like to know if there might be a way to avoid unnecessary performance costs related to the way database is organized right now. [Edit] With in-memory SQLite I get around 350 items/sec (3500 single table inserts), which I believe is about as good as it gets with NHibernate (taking this post for reference: http://ayende.com/Blog/archive/2009/08/22/nhibernate-perf-tricks.aspx). But I might as well switch to SQL server and stop assuming things, right? I will update my post as soon as I test it.

  • C# Extend array type to overload operators

    - by Episodex
    I'd like to create my own class extending array of ints. Is that possible? What I need is array of ints that can be added by "+" operator to another array (each element added to each), and compared by "==", so it could (hopefully) be used as a key in dictionary. The thing is I don't want to implement whole IList interface to my new class, but only add those two operators to existing array class. I'm trying to do something like this: class MyArray : Array<int> But it's not working that way obviously ;). Sorry if I'm unclear but I'm searching solution for hours now... UPDATE: I tried something like this: class Zmienne : IEquatable<Zmienne> { public int[] x; public Zmienne(int ilosc) { x = new int[ilosc]; } public override bool Equals(object obj) { if (obj == null || GetType() != obj.GetType()) { return false; } return base.Equals((Zmienne)obj); } public bool Equals(Zmienne drugie) { if (x.Length != drugie.x.Length) return false; else { for (int i = 0; i < x.Length; i++) { if (x[i] != drugie.x[i]) return false; } } return true; } public override int GetHashCode() { int hash = x[0].GetHashCode(); for (int i = 1; i < x.Length; i++) hash = hash ^ x[i].GetHashCode(); return hash; } } Then use it like this: Zmienne tab1 = new Zmienne(2); Zmienne tab2 = new Zmienne(2); tab1.x[0] = 1; tab1.x[1] = 1; tab2.x[0] = 1; tab2.x[1] = 1; if (tab1 == tab2) Console.WriteLine("Works!"); And no effect. I'm not good with interfaces and overriding methods unfortunately :(. As for reason I'm trying to do it. I have some equations like: x1 + x2 = 0.45 x1 + x4 = 0.2 x2 + x4 = 0.11 There are a lot more of them, and I need to for example add first equation to second and search all others to find out if there is any that matches the combination of x'es resulting in that adding. Maybe I'm going in totally wrong direction?

  • Altering constraint delete action

    - by Hobhouse
    I did this: ALTER TABLE `db`.`my_table` ADD CONSTRAINT FOREIGN KEY (`my_second_table_id`) REFERENCES `my_second_table` (`id`); I should have done this: ALTER TABLE `db`.`my_table` ADD CONSTRAINT FOREIGN KEY (`my_second_table_id`) REFERENCES `my_second_table` (`id`) ON DELETE SET NULL; Is it possible to ALTER this, or do I have to drop the constraint and add again?

  • A shortest path problem with superheroes and intergalactic journeys

    - by Dman
    You are a super-hero in the year 2222 and you are faced with this great challenge: starting from your home planet Ilop you must try to reach Acinhet or else your planet will be destroyed by evil green little monsters. To do this you are given a map of the universe: there are N planets and M inter-planetary connections ( bidirectional ) that bind these planets. Each connection requires a certain time and a certain amount of fuel in order for you to cover the connection from one planet to another. The total time spent going from one planet to another is obtained by multiplying the time past to cover each connection between all the planets you go through. There are some "key planets", that allow you to refuel if you arrive on those certain "key planets". A "key planet" is the planet with the property that if it disappears the road between at least two planets would be lost.(In the example posted below with the input/output files such a "key planet" is 2 because without it the road to 7 would be lost) When you start your mission you are given the possibility of choosing between K ships each with its own maximum fuel capacity. The goal is to find the SHORTEST TIME CONSUMING path but also choose the ship with the minimum fuel capacity that can cover that shortest path(this means that if more ships can cover the shortest path you choose the one with the minimum fuel capacity). Because the minimum time can be a rather large number (over long long int) you are asked to provide only the last 6 digits of the number. For a better understanding of the task, here is an example of input/output files: INPUT: mission.in 7 8 6 1 4 6 5 9 8 7 10 1 2 7 8 1 4 14 9 1 5 3 1 2 3 1 2 2 7 7 1 3 4 2 2 4 6 4 1 5 6 3 7 On the first line (in order): N M K On the second line :the number for the starting planet and the finishing planet On the third line :K numbers that represent the capacities of the ships you can choose from Then you have M lines, all of them have the same structure: Xi Yi Ti Fi-which means that there is a connection between Xi and Yi and you can cover the distance from Xi to Yi in Ti time and with a Fi fuel consumption. OUTPUT:mission.out 000014 8 1 2 3 4 On the first line:the minimum time and fuel consumption; On the second line :the path Restrictions: 2 = N = 1 000 1 = M = 30 000 1 = K = 10 000 Any suggestions or ideas of how this problem might be solved would be most welcomed.

  • Extending Enums, Overkill?

    - by CkH
    I have an object that needs to be serialized to an EDI format. For this example we'll say it's a car. A car might not be the best example b/c options change over time, but for the real object the Enums will never change. I have many Enums like the following with custom attributes applied. public enum RoofStyle { [DisplayText("Glass Top")] [StringValue("GTR")] Glass, [DisplayText("Convertible Soft Top")] [StringValue("CST")] ConvertibleSoft, [DisplayText("Hard Top")] [StringValue("HT ")] HardTop, [DisplayText("Targa Top")] [StringValue("TT ")] Targa, } The Attributes are accessed via Extension methods: public static string GetStringValue(this Enum value) { // Get the type Type type = value.GetType(); // Get fieldinfo for this type FieldInfo fieldInfo = type.GetField(value.ToString()); // Get the stringvalue attributes StringValueAttribute[] attribs = fieldInfo.GetCustomAttributes( typeof(StringValueAttribute), false) as StringValueAttribute[]; // Return the first if there was a match. return attribs.Length > 0 ? attribs[0].StringValue : null; } public static string GetDisplayText(this Enum value) { // Get the type Type type = value.GetType(); // Get fieldinfo for this type FieldInfo fieldInfo = type.GetField(value.ToString()); // Get the DisplayText attributes DisplayTextAttribute[] attribs = fieldInfo.GetCustomAttributes( typeof(DisplayTextAttribute), false) as DisplayTextAttribute[]; // Return the first if there was a match. return attribs.Length > 0 ? attribs[0].DisplayText : value.ToString(); } There is a custom EDI serializer that serializes based on the StringValue attributes like so: StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); sb.Append(car.RoofStyle.GetStringValue()); sb.Append(car.TireSize.GetStringValue()); sb.Append(car.Model.GetStringValue()); ... There is another method that can get Enum Value from StringValue for Deserialization: car.RoofStyle = Enums.GetCode<RoofStyle>(EDIString.Substring(4, 3)) Defined as: public static class Enums { public static T GetCode<T>(string value) { foreach (object o in System.Enum.GetValues(typeof(T))) { if (((Enum)o).GetStringValue() == value.ToUpper()) return (T)o; } throw new ArgumentException("No code exists for type " + typeof(T).ToString() + " corresponding to value of " + value); } } And Finally, for the UI, the GetDisplayText() is used to show the user friendly text. What do you think? Overkill? Is there a better way? or Goldie Locks (just right)? Just want to get feedback before I intergrate it into my personal framework permanently. Thanks.
