  • Help finding old sql tool that rewrote queries

    - by crosenblum
There was this old sql server tool called Lectoneth or something like that, you'd put sql queries in it, and it would rewrite it for you. I think quest bought them out, but I can't find where to download a free copy of that software. Really helps when you have no dba, and have lots of sql queries to rewrite. Thanks Craig

  • Portion of Screen Broke

    - by Devoted
Hi, A portion of my laptop screen broke. Is there any kind of software that will just ignore that part and resize everything accordingly? It's like 1/6 of the screen on the right that makes anything over there impossible to see. If not, what would be the best programming language to go about making my own program? It is a PC but I can also run Ubuntu if that would be easier to make a program for.

  • The future of cloud computing? [closed]

    - by Vimvq1987
As far as I know, cloud computing is growing rapidly. Amazon EC2, Google App Engine, Microsoft Windows Azure...But I can't imagine how cloud computing will change the world. Will cloud computing will play the main role in software industry? Will our data be stored at one place and then can be accessed from any where? Shall we need powerful PCs no more because everything will be processed at "cloud"? Thank you so much

  • Graphical Sudo for Mac OSX

    - by Johannes
Hi. I'm designing a little software in java. Don't know the term/definition to what I'm doing, but I'm prompting commands from java to the terminal. Something like this: Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("command"); I've done this before in linux, and I used the gksudo for commands that required root password. Is there any "gksudo" in os x? Any graphical popup asking for root password. Thanks =)

  • What is call out table in unix?

    - by Supereme
Hi, Can anybody tell me the 'call out table' in unix? The explanation is given in 'Maurice J. Bach' book but I'm getting difficulty in understanding the example especially, the one explaining the reason of negative time out fields. For what purpose the software interrupts are used there? Thanks!

  • Practical Experience using Stripes?

    - by Andrew Whitehouse
I am coming from an Enterprise Java background which involves a fairly heavyweight software stack, and have recently discovered the Stripes framework; my initial impression is that this seems to do a good job of minimising the unpleasant parts of building a web application in Java. Has anyone used Stripes for a project that has gone live? And can you share your experiences from the project? Also, did you consider any other technologies and (if so) why did you chose Stripes?

  • Crystal Reports "File Break"

    - by Chris B. Behrens
I'm generating a Crystal Reports report which will ultimately need to be split into thousands of pdf files. What would be ideal would be if Crystal Reports had something like a "file break", like a page break, that you could insert into the file at the appropriate places. I will need reasonably fine control over the file names, as well....something like "fileName_{CustomerId}_{CustomerIsLocal}.pdf". I'm presuming a third-party piece of software will probably be needed. Thoughts? TIA.

  • mounting ext4 fs with block size of 65536

    - by seaquest
I am doing some benchmarking on EXT4 performance on Compact Flash media. I have created an ext4 fs with block size of 65536. however I can not mount it on ubuntu-10.10-netbook-i386. (it is already mounting ext4 fs with 4096 bytes of block sizes) According to my readings on ext4 it should allow such big block sized fs. • How can I create a FreeBSD package using EPM that has the ORIGIN @comment?

    - by Chris R
I'm building packages of our internal software products using EPM, and over time these packages (of which we have a large number) clutter up the output of pkg_delete and pkg_add with the following general kind of messages: err: pkg_add: package MYPACKAGE has no origin recorded I can see from some old FreeBSD lists that the +CONTENTS file in the package must have a line like this: @comment ORIGIN:some_source_path What I don't see is a way to get this line in place using EPM. Can somebody tell me how to do this?

  • [Symfony 1.2: ckWebServicePlugin 3.0.0] Module name in SOAP requests, how to get rid of them?

    - by Henri
When I generate a WSDL file with ./symfony webservice:generate-wsdl (where is 'frontend', is 'soap' and is 'http://localhost ') I get a nice soap.wsdl file which works like it should. Except, the methods are not named 'justAMethod' but 'soapService_justAMethod' (where soapService is the module which holds the SOAP methods). How do I omit the module name in the SOAP method names? I know this is possible since the previous release of the software had no module name in the SOAP method names.

  • How to change filetype association in the registry?

    - by Sergio Tapia
Hi there, first time posting in StackOverflow. :D I need my software to add a couple of things in the registry. My program will use Process.Start(@"blblabla.smc"); to launch a file, but the problem is that most likely the user will not have a program set as default application for the particular file extension. How can I add file associations to the WindowsRegistry?

  • scripting fruityloops or propellerheads reason from VB or Python?

    - by interstar
I have both Fruityloops and Propellerheads Reason software synths on my Windows PC. Any way I can get at and script these from either Visual Basic or Python? Or at least send Midi messages to the synths from code? Update : attempts to use something like a "midi-mapper" (thanks for link MusiGenesis) don't seem to work. I don't think Reason or FL Studio act like standard GM Midi synths. Update 2 : If you're interested in this question, check out this too.
