On page SEO is the first thing a webmaster should consider when planning the marketing of his website. Follow these simple yet effective methods to give your SEO campaign a kick start.
Tips serve their purpose but are of limited benefit, which is why it is better to offer methods. Making your action buttons bigger, cutting your copy in half or making the page 'cleaner' are all good points, but they do not apply to everyone equally.
Keyword optimization is the most important of all on-page optimization techniques. The success of search engine optimization (SEO) lies in the correct choice of keywords, placement and number of times the keywords are repeated in the website.
Did you know you can programmatically navigate to a new page via code? Inside your bean method, you can simply use the NavigationDispatchHelper class to do the work for you.
The invokePageNavigation method of NavigationDispatchHelper takes a String parameter that holds the value of the navigation rule to follow.
import oracle.adfnmc.util.NavigationDispatchHelper;
public void MyBeanMethod() {
/'/ Do stuff
NavigationDispatchHelper.invokePageNavigation("patients");
}
There are many different Print dialogs but one is very common and is used by Gimp, Shutter, Evloution and Simple Scan. In all these apps the "Page Size" and "Orientation" are disabled.
The same dialog in Firefox, Thunderbird and GEdit works OK.
I program in Gambas3 which uses this dialog in conjunction with the GTK+ library and it also has these options disabled. If I use the QT4 library then a different print dialog is displayed with no problems.
Anybody else notice this problem and found a solution?

as written in the title the website on which I try to do Search Engine Optimization has following two properties:
doesn't have any content in the SEO sense: it doesn't hold any information and only offers functionality
consists of only one page/URL
since most of the SEO tips/tricks I read are based on content how do I perform SEO optimization on such a website?
for more info: the website is basically just a timer/alarm/stopwatch
The other day I was checking the traffic stats for my WordPress blog to see which of my posts were the most popular. I was a little concerned to see that wp-login.php was in the Top 5 total requests almost every month. Since I’m the only author on my blog my logins could not possibly account for the traffic hitting that page. The only explanation could be that the additional traffic was coming from automated hacking attempts. Any server administrator concerned about security knows that “ footprinting...(read more)

If you want your website to start dominating the search engines for certain keywords, the first step is doing On Page SEO. The fact is that if your own website is not correctly optimised for keywords... [Author: Martin Sejas - Web Design and Development - April 10, 2010]
If your website was designed by a professional designer, chances are you were told that they have included SEO for your keywords as part of the package. Unfortunately, that generally means you have no SEO on the page. You see, web designers are very skilled at what they do best, but SEO is not one of those skills unless they have specialised in learning the search engines.
We have a client who has instructed Reach Local to manage their paid SEO work etc. RL have created a proxy version of the page at http://example-px.rtrk.co.uk which mirrors the existing site completely.
Would I be correct in assuming that this would count as duplicate content and one or both of the sites would be penalized because of this? And would the addition of a rel="canonical" meta-tag on the proxy site assist with this?
Many thanks in advance.
Death they say is a good leveler. But today it is the web. Service providers of the past decade started with the internet and are reaping the benefits of conducting business over the internet. Old monolith brick-and-mortar service providers have to now transit into this web-world or become morphed. Hence large or small, old or new all service providers require a service - that of a web page developer.
Only a few months ago I was thinking of writing an article about how the relatively recent pervasiveness of broadband, high-speed Internet has changed the way sites are developed. It wasn't that long ago, when one of the major goals of designing a web page was to keep the entire thing under 30Kb. Now developers and designers are using background images that are larger than that - let alone the media rich content that fills the pages.
I am porting a site from an old version of a CMS to a newer version which has different page addressing techniques. I'm unfortunately not very good with htaccess at all.
URL/blog/sublblog/article.html is now simply URL/article.html
Unfortunately, this will destroy any linking programs they have going, and break all the old links. I need a way to use .htaccess say:
if request = /(any subdirectory)/(string).html
then redirect to /(string).html
If that makes any sense.
I want to create soccer game vizualization. What technologies will be best to create such one for web page?
On input I have two teams with players. I have theory about their movements, the movement of the ball on field and so on. I just want to vizualize their movements. What will be the best technology stack? I mean programming languages (C++, Ruby, Java, PHP) and vizualization ways (Flash, HTML5, JS)
I control a subpage of a site: economics.university.edu/summerschool
I have access to CNAME, etc. However I want to use Google sites to create the site and then map the URL above to my Google site. In other words, someone on the university site that navigated to the summer school page would be redirected to the Google site transparently.
However I keep getting this error from Google: "The format of the web address is unsupported." Is this possible?
I'm building a Drupal site where much of the content is going to be in static on specific pages. In Drupal, each piece of content (whether you like it or not) gets created its own page (node). To ensure that users do not view these nodes, I'm thinking about setting up a 30x redirect or a flat out 30x not found.
Will this method effect me negatively for google? Is there a different method that you could propose that may be better?
Probably the worst nightmare internet marketers and even experienced SEO specialists encounter when they promote their websites on the web is the severe dropping of their websites rankings in Google. Now you may be in trouble if you are an SEO consultant, and you have a client, and he gets to know that his website has disappeared on the first page of Google when you've just told him a few days ago that his site landed on the number 1 spot of Google.
How important is it to rank on the first page of the search result pages displayed by search engines when keywords are typed in and the enter key is pressed? This is a question that every website administrator must have asked himself at least a zillion times during the course of optimizing his website and continues to ask himself even though his website has been fully optimized and it has achieved a ranking on the search engines.
For all the search engines, and maybe especially for Google, topical relevance is everything. The words on your webpage will get ranked for relevance on one or more topics or categories. There are probably 100 or more other factors that go into a Google ranking, most of which we will never know, but the major ranking factor has to be the words on your page and their proximity to each other.
I have this question because the most recent algorithm changes by Google have affected my website traffic.
I've been wondering why my homepage PageRank has dropped from 6 to 4 (I am not sure exactly). I am not using any special SEO tools like SEOMOZ, Majestic SEO, etc.
So it's quite difficult for me to ensure whether the page rank has been really affected or not. So can anyone please provide any good resource, tact or tricks to address this question?
