  • "vagrant up" fails with "NS_ERROR_CALL_FAILED" error [on hold]

    - by TahitiPetey
    I am following the basic "Getting Started" guide: http://docs.vagrantup.com/v2/getting-started/index.html I ran vagrant init <etc> followed by vagrant up, but it fails with "NS_ERROR_CALL_FAILED" error. Then by enabling debug logging with VAGRANT_LOG=debug vagrant up, I get the following error output: ERROR vagrant: /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/plugins/providers/virtualbox/driver/base.rb:316:in `execute' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/plugins/providers/virtualbox/driver/version_4_2.rb:165:in `import' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/plugins/providers/virtualbox/action/import.rb:15:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/warden.rb:34:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/builtin/handle_box_url.rb:72:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/warden.rb:34:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/plugins/providers/virtualbox/action/check_accessible.rb:18:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/warden.rb:34:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/runner.rb:61:in `block in run' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/util/busy.rb:19:in `busy' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/runner.rb:61:in `run' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/builtin/call.rb:51:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/warden.rb:34:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/builtin/config_validate.rb:25:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/warden.rb:34:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/plugins/providers/virtualbox/action/check_virtualbox.rb:17:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/warden.rb:34:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/builder.rb:116:in `call' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/runner.rb:61:in `block in run' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/util/busy.rb:19:in `busy' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/action/runner.rb:61:in `run' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/machine.rb:147:in `action' /Applications/Vagrant/embedded/gems/gems/vagrant-1.2.2/lib/vagrant/batch_action.rb:63:in `block (2 levels) in run' INFO interface: error: There was an error while executing `VBoxManage`, a CLI used by Vagrant for controlling VirtualBox. • Can I add a gigabit switch to my D-Link WiFi router for gigabit networking? [migrated]

    - by Elmer
I currently have a D-Link DIR-628 router in my home network that I use for wifi and local networking. However, I am looking to upgrade to a gigabit network as the data transfer speed between my network devices is too slow since the router only supports 10/100. Can I simply add a small gigabit switch (like the Netgear GS105) to the router and connect all local network devices to the gigabit switch ports instead of the router's ports or do I need to replace the entire router to a gigabit router?

  • How does a so-called "LED monitor" work?

    - by sharptooth
Every here and there I hear about new LED monitors. I imagined that they were really LED monitors - that their screens were formed of multiple tiny LEDs that lit up in a controlled manner to form an image. Yet turns out they are LED backlit LCD monitors. What's the difference between this and a trusty Belinea 10 17 51 I've been using for the five years already?

  • Tomcat with virtual hosts - 404

    - by Thardas
I have a CentOS 5.2 server set up with Apache 2.2.3 and Tomcat 5.5.27. The server hosts multiple virtual hosts connected to multiple Tomcats. For instance we have one tomcat for development and testing and one tomcat for production. project.demo.us.com points to dev tomcat and project.us.com points to production tomcat. Here's the virtual host's configuration: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName project.demo.us.com CustomLog logs/project.demo.us.com/access_log combined env=!VLOG ErrorLog logs/project.demo.us.com/error_log DocumentRoot /var/www/vhosts/project.demo.us.com <Directory /var/www/vhosts/project.demo.us.com> Allow from all AllowOverride All Options -Indexes FollowSymLinks </Directory> ########## ########## ########## JkMount /project/* online </VirtualHost> JkMount line defines that we use online worker and our workers.properties contains this: worker.list=..., online, ... worker.online.port=7703 worker.online.host=localhost worker.online.type=ajp13 worker.online.lbfactor=1 And tomcat's conf/server.xml contains: <Connector port="7703" enableLookups="false" redirectPort="8443" protocol="AJP/1.3" URIEncoding="UTF-8" maxThreads="80" minSpareThreads="10" maxSpareThreads="15"/> I'm not sure what redirectPort is but I tried to telnet to that port and there's no one answering, so it shouldn't matter? Tomcat's webapps directory contains project.war and the server automatically deployed it under project directory which contains index.jsp and hello.html. The latter is for static debugging purposes. Now when I try to access http://project.demo.us.com/project/index.jsp, I get Tomcat's HTTP Status 404 - The requested resource () is not available. The same thing happens to hello.html so it's not working with static content either. Apache's access_log contains: 88.112.152.31 - - [10/Aug/2009:12:15:14 +0300] "GET /demo/index.jsp HTTP/1.1" 404 952 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2" I couldn't find any mention of the request in Tomcat's logs. If I shutdown this specific tomcat, I no longer get Tomcat's 404 but Apache's 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable, so I should be configuring the correct Tomcat. Is there something obvious that I'm missing? Is there any place where I could find out what path the Tomcat is using to look for requested files?

  • Using both IIS6 and IIS7 with the same SQL State Server

    - by Josef
We are trying to use new IIS7 (32bit, Classic Mode) webs in addition to our IIS6 webs with one SQL State Server for ASP.NET Session Handling. Unfortunately the number of transactions per seconds in the State Servers spikes (10 times+) as soon as we add the new IIS7 web to the farm. Are there any known issues with the described setup?

  • USB mouse connecting and disconnecting randomly

    - by Kalec
I've bought an acer aspire 5742G about 2 months ago or so and it's been running great, but sometimes I used to hear the windows error beep but I had no idea what was causing it since the "bug" was automatically fixed so fast I couldn't even see an error message (also it kinda always happened when I was busy also, either in a game or while doing my homework). Later on my mouse would simply not work for 3-5 seconds then work again, I thought nothing of it at the time. I also had a problem where it only worked in one usb and one only. To move it I had to remove the battery, unplug the laptop and hold the power button for 2 minutes to reset the bios settings. Since today though it went nuts. Sometimes it disconnects / reconnects 12 times in 10 seconds and windows just keeps beeping till I unplug it, then it runs smooth for 5-6 minutes then it goes nuts again. Other times it seems like it skips (disconnects for a fraction of a second) other times just for 2-3 seconds. But this is incredibly frustrating. Sometimes the power just goes down (the laser turns off) and well that at least I would understand but this is a rare occurrence. Now I know the usb ports work since I have a lot of other devices connected and I tried the mouse on a room m8's laptop so the mouse also works. My only conclusion is that it's an operating system / settings bug and / or problem (I have tried the mouse in all ports by the way). All drivers and bios are up to date (maybe except mouse but I can't seem to update that and the mouse has no name, just a serial number which helps with nothing. Still it worked till today and nothing should have changed any way). I have made sure windows can't shut it down to save power (in device management). Also I tried to delete the drivers and re-install them, rebooting and the power button trick but nothing. Most I have done is get rid of the 12 disconnects / reconnects every 10 seconds :) but that's all :( I would buy a new one but I'm afraid it might do the same thing. ****EDIT****** Tried the mouse again at a friend but now it didn't even install it's software nor did the update work. Think I'll just buy a new one but I'd still like a suggestion at least so I'll leave this open #### EDIT 2 Now it works again, I can't explain this. Still thinking of getting a new one though

  • LXC container can only access host via bridge

    - by vitaut
I have an LXC container with i686 Ubuntu 12.04 running on a x86_64 Ubuntu 12.04 host. I've set up a bridge using instructions here. However the ping from the container only goes through to the host and not to other machines on the local network. Similarly only the host and not the other machines see the container OS. The host's /etc/network/interfaces file looks as follows: auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface eth0 inet manual auto br0 iface br0 inet dhcp bridge_ports eth0 bridge_fd 0 bridge_maxwait 0 The container's /etc/network/interfaces file looks as follows: auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp And here's the relevant part of the container's config: lxc.network.type=veth lxc.network.link=br0 lxc.network.flags=up Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? • Link aggregation with freebsd8 and a cicso 3550, what am i doing wrong?

    - by Flamewires
Hey, I am trying to setup Link Aggrigation with LACP (well, anything that provides increased bandwidth and failover using my setup will work). I'm running FreeBSD 8.0 on 3 machines. M1 is running 2 10/100 ethernetcards setup for link aggrigation using lagg. for reference: ifconfig em0 up ifconfig tx0 up ifconfig create lagg0 ifconfig lagg0 laggproto lacp laggport tx0 laggport em0 192.168.1.16 netmask 255.255.255.0 I plugged them into ports 1 and 2 of a Cicso 3550. then ran: configure terminal interface range Fa0/1 - 2 switchport mode access switchport access vlan 1 channel-group 1 mode active (everythings in vlan 1) Now Im able to connect the other computers to other ports on the switch and failover works great, i can unplug cables in the middle of a transfer and the traffic gets rerouted. However, im not noticing any speed increase. My test setup: load balancing: i tried dst and src on the switch, neither seemed to give me a speed increase. I am SCPing 2 500 meg files from the lagg computer to other computers (one each) which are also running 10/100 full duplex cards. I get transfer speeds of about 11.2-11.4 Mbps to a single host, and about half that (5.9-6.2) Mbps when transferring to both at the same time. From what I understood with destination load balancing the router was suppose to balance traffic headed for 1 computer over 1 port and traffic headed for another over a diff(in this case) the other port. With destination-MAC address forwarding, when packets are forwarded to an EtherChannel, the packets are distributed across the ports in the channel based on the destination host MAC address of the incoming packet. Therefore, packets to the same destination are forwarded over the same port, and packets to a different destination are sent on a different port in the channel. For the 3550 series switch, when source-MAC address forwarding is used, load distribution based on the source and destination IP address is also enabled for routed IP traffic. All routed IP traffic chooses a port based on the source and destination IP address. Packets between two IP hosts always use the same port in the channel, and traffic between any other pair of hosts can use a different port in the channel. (Link) What am i doing wrong/what would i need to do to see a speed increase beyond what i could do with just a single card?

If the program is off then it will open up fine the first time but then clicking on the icon will not make Notes jump to the front of the screen. It is only a minor thing but as it is the only program on my dock that I need to CMD-Tab to access it gets pretty annoying! Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've heard that godaddy will screw you 10 ways to Sunday, and a lot of the other ones basically only lease you the domain. So if I want to own the domain and not get screwed, who's the best these days, and why?

I know "best" is a subjective term so i would like to break it into to different suggestions 1) what is the cheapest solution given the criteria above 2) what solution will result in the least amount of headaches from the point of view of maintenance and learning curve.

The built-in recorder of Windows could only record into wav format, and I want to record in mp3 or other compact format for a long time -- around 10 hours. Record only voice is fine. Any recommendations? Better free software and easy to use. Thanks in advance!

But as soon as I start Apache it hogs a large amount of memory (without any in-coming web requests): Resident Memory: 300 to 400 MB Virtual Memory: 300 to 650 MB Without this module, Apache was consuming much lesser memory (4 to 10 MB). What could be the reason here?

I also run DropBox and BackBlaze. I've tried disabling my third party stuff (DropBox and BackBlaze), but that doesn't seem to help. It's killing my battery life!
