  • Create an UIButton with "push button" appearance?

    - by Krumelur
I want to create a button with the same look and feel as the "Timer" function in the builtin Clock app, but it really eludes me how to do it. By looking at the source code for UICatalog, it seems to create these buttons you need to create a custom bitmap. Is this true? If so, is there a "standard" bitmap that can be used, to ensure consistent user experience?

  • How to detect application préference changes.

    - by Raphael Pinto
I created a Settings.bundle in my app where the user can change some properties like font size. It works. But when I leave my App, and I change my setting, I don't know how I can get notified of the change. For the moment, I create a function call each time a view is loaded that check for app settings. But I wonder if there is an other and proper way to do this.

  • Making a view scrollable when keyboard active

    - by Dan Ray
I have a view with half a dozen text fields and labels, and a button. I want it to be that when the keyboard pops up, the view becomes scrollable, so you can scroll the view up and see the bottom half of the fields without having to dismiss the keyboard to get to them. Just putting it inside a UIScrollView doesn't seem to do it.

  • NSPredicate confusion. Ignoring spaces.

    - by Mr. McPepperNuts
NSPredicate *predicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"name contains [cd] %@", passdTextToSearchFor]; I have two entries in name: "Test One" and "Test Two." If I search for "test," I get 0 results. But if I search for "test one" or "test two" I get the proper result. The search is ignoring the space. In reality I want both results if the user searches for "test." Any ideas? I tried contain and like.

  • UIWebView comparing current and defined URL's with a loop depending on result

    - by Syleron
I am trying to compare the current url in webView with a defined url say google.com so in theory.. NSURLRequest *currentRequest = [webView request]; NSURL *currentURL = [currentRequest URL]; would give us our current url... NSString *newurl = @"http://www.google.com"; this would give us the compared to defined url while (!currentURL == newurl) { //do whatever here because currentURL does not equal the newurl } This does not seem to work though.. solutions?

  • zooming from a particular point

    - by Chandan Shetty SP
I am using this code to zoom from a particular point CGPoint getCenterPointForRect(CGRect inRect) { CGRect screenRect = [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]; return CGPointMake((screenRect.size.height-inRect.origin.x)/2,(screenRect.size.width-inRect.origin.y)/2); } -(void) startAnimation { CGPoint centerPoint = getCenterPointForRect(self.view.frame); self.view.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeTranslation(centerPoint.x, centerPoint.y); self.view.transform = CGAffineTransformScale( self.view.transform , 0.001, 0.001); [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:kTransitionDuration]; self.view.transform = CGAffineTransformIdentity; [UIView commitAnimations]; } Its not working. What is the correct way to do zooming from a particular point.

  • How to delete a cell in UITableView by using custom button in cell ?

    - by srikanth rongali
I have UITableView. I customized the cell height (increased). I have 4 labels(UILabel) and 1 image(UIImage) and 3 buttons (UIButton). one of the button is delete button. By touching the cell or button(play button) on the image a video is loaded and played. I need to delete the cell by touching delete button. If I touched the delete button the corresponding video is deleted from library . But, how to delete the cell and all remaining data in it ? I am not able to delete the cells or the data in the cells. How to do it ? I used these. But the control is not entering in to second method committedEditingStyle: - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canEditRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { return YES; } - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView commitEditingStyle:(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { if (editingStyle == UITableViewCellEditingStyleDelete) { } } Thank you. The following image shows the delete button of my program.

  • Can't append space at end of NSString

    - by Sam V
I have a UITextView in which I want the initial value to be "@username " (notice the space after the username). This way the user can start typing right away without having to tap space. So I do: textView.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"@%@ ", username]; But it seems like it's impossible to have an NSString ending with a space (it always gets stripped out). Am I correct? Is there any workaround for this?

  • Link to pdf within app

    - by Thijs
I've got an iOS app that at one point opens a link to a website in a webview. These links are kept in a plist file (so it is easy to maintain them as the app evolves). What I want to do next is to also link to PDF's (or any picture of text file format, of even a html format, this is flexible) that are kept within the app. And I would like to do this as much as possible from within the existing app structure. So, is it possible to create a link that can be put in the plist as a web-link, but instead opens a file on the device itself (possibly in the webview)? And how would I go about that? Any ideas? Thanx in advance for your help!

  • Received memory warning on setimage

    - by Sam Budda
This problem has completely stumped me. This is for iOS 5.0 with Xcode 4.2 What's going on is that in my app I let user select images from their photo album and I save those images to apps document directory. Pretty straight forward. What I do then is that in one of the viewController.m files I create multiple UIImageViews and I then set the image for the image view from one of the picture that user selected from apps dir. The problem is that after a certain number of UIImage sets I receive a "Received memory warning". It usually happens when there are 10 pictures. If lets say user selected 11 pictures then the app crashes with Error (GBC). NOTE: each of these images are at least 2.5 MB a piece. After hours of testing I finally narrowed down the problem to this line of code [button1AImgVw setImage:image]; If I comment out that code. All compiles fine and no memory errors happen. But if I don't comment out that code I receive memory errors and eventually a crash. Also note it does process the whole CreateViews IBAction but still crashes at the end. I cannot do release or dealloc since I am running this on iOS 5.0 with Xcode 4.2 Here is the code that I used. Can anyone tell me what did I do wrong? - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // Do any additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. [self CreateViews]; } -(IBAction) CreateViews { paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask ,YES); documentsPath = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; //here 15 is for testing purposes for (int i = 0; i < 15; i++) { //Lets not get bogged down here. The problem is not here UIImageView *button1AImgVw = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10*i, 10, 10, 10)]; [self.view addSubview:button1AImgVw]; NSMutableString *picStr1a = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; NSString *dataFile1a = [[NSString alloc] init]; picStr1a = [NSMutableString stringWithFormat:@"%d.jpg", i]; dataFile1a = [documentsPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:picStr1a]; NSData *potraitImgData1a =[[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:dataFile1a]; UIImage *image = [[UIImage alloc] initWithData:potraitImgData1a]; // This is causing my app to crash if I load more than 10 images! //[button1AImgVw setImage:image]; } NSLog(@"It went to END!"); } //Error I get when 10 images are selected. App does launch and work 2012-10-07 17:12:51.483 ABC-APP[7548:707] It went to END! 2012-10-07 17:12:51.483 ABC-APP [7531:707] Received memory warning. //App crashes with this error when there are 11 images 2012-10-07 17:30:26.339 ABC-APP[7548:707] It went to END! • Setting Corner Radius on UIImageView not working

    - by MarkPowell
I'm at a bit of a loss. I've used the layer property of UIView to round the corners of multiple elements in my app. However, this one UIImageView is simply not complying. Not sure what I am missing. The UIImageView (called previewImage) is contained in a Table View Cell. I've tried setting the cornerRadius property multiple location (in the cell itself and in the controller that creates the cell) to no avail. static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"MyTableViewCell"; MyTableViewCell *cell = (MyTableViewCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *topLevelObjects = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:CellIdentifier owner:self options:nil]; cell = [topLevelObjects objectAtIndex:0]; cell.previewImage.layer.cornerRadius = 20; //Made it 20 to make sure it's obvious. } Is there something about the way cells are loaded that I'm missing?

  • pull down notification panel in iOS help for iPad

    - by Priya Chhabra
I have developed an iPad application. In which I am using left/right swipes from corner of screen. The problem is when device is in landscape mode, (though the application is always in portrait orientation) and user wants to swipe left, it opens the notification panel instead of going to swipeAction that I had defined. Note that it works fine when device is kept in portrait mode. Is there any way to make pull down notification panel application orientation specific ? Any kind of help will be appreciated.

  • Reason why UIImageView gives me a 'distorted' image sometimes

    - by Cedric Vandendriessche
I have a custom UIView with a UILabel and a UIImageView subview. (tried using UIImageView subclass aswell). I assign an image to it and add the view to the screen. I wrote a function which adds the amount of LetterBoxes to the screen as there are letters in the word: - (void)drawBoxesForWord:(NSString *)word { if(boxesContainer == nil) { /* Create a container for the LetterBoxes (animation purposes) */ boxesContainer = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 205, 320, 50)]; [self.view addSubview:boxesContainer]; } /* Calculate width of letterboxes */ NSInteger numberOfCharacters = [word length]; CGFloat totalWidth = numberOfCharacters * 28 + (numberOfCharacters - 1) * 3; CGFloat leftCap = (320 - totalWidth) / 2; [letters removeAllObjects]; /* Draw the boxes to the screen */ for (int i = 0; i < numberOfCharacters; i++) { LetterBox *letter = [[LetterBox alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(leftCap + i * 31 , 0, 28, 40)]; [letters addObject:letter]; [boxesContainer addSubview:letter]; [letter release]; }} This gives me the image below: http://www.imgdumper.nl/uploads2/4ba3b2c72bb99/4ba3b2c72abfd-Goed.png But sometimes it gives me this: imgdumper.nl/uploads2/4ba3b2d888226/4ba3b2d88728a-Fout.png I add them to the same boxesContainer but they first remove themselves from the superview, so it's not like you see them double or something. What I find weird is that they are all good or all bad.. This is the init function for my LetterBox: if (self == [super initWithFrame:aRect]) { /* Create the box image with same frame */ boxImage = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.bounds.size.width, self.bounds.size.height)]; boxImage.contentMode = UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit; boxImage.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"SpaceOpen.png"]; [self addSubview:boxImage]; /* Create the label with same frame */ letterLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.bounds.size.width, self.bounds.size.height)]; letterLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; letterLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"ArialRoundedMTBold" size:26]; letterLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; letterLabel.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentCenter; [self addSubview:letterLabel]; } return self;} Does anyone have an idea why this could be? I'd rather have them display correctly every time :)

  • How to define colors in XCodes' Interface Builder?

    - by favo
Hi, I would like to copy colors between elements in the interface builder or define them using RGB values. I.e. copy the background color of a button to another button without duplicating the button. Or: Enter an exact RGB code using the interface builder. Currently I can do this only programmatically but the interface builder is meant to design the GUI, so there must be such possibilities. Thank you all in advance for your answers.

  • Passing Data thru NSTimer UserInfo

    - by zorro2b
    I a trying to pass data thru userInfo for an NSTimer call. What is the best way to do this? I am trying to use an NSDictionary, this is simple enough when I have objective c objects, but what about other data? I want to do something like this, which doesn't work as is: - (void) play:(SystemSoundID)sound target:(id)target callbackSelector:(SEL)selector { NSLog(@"pause ipod"); [iPodController pause]; theSound = sound; NSMutableDictionary *cb = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [cb setObject:(id)&sound forKey:@"sound"]; [cb setObject:target forKey:@"target"]; [cb setObject:(id)&selector forKey:@"selector"]; [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0 target:self selector: @selector(notifyPause1:) userInfo:(id)cb repeats:NO]; }

  • changing a picker to table view OR having multiple table views on the same view

    - by Brodie4598
Hello - My iPad app was rejected due to my use of a picker. The picker was used to control a table view. In my view, a picker was displaying a series of items and when one of those items was selected, it used that selection to populate a table with data. (hopefully that makes sense). Now I need to do this without the picker so I need to have the data that was in the picker be represented in a table view. My question, is how do I have multiple tableViews in the same view? I'm guessing I need to have some kind of if statement in the tableview delegate methods, but I'm not quite sure what the if statement needs to be. Or maybe i'm thinking of this the totally wrong way thanks

  • Calculate the contentsize of scrollview

    - by neha
Hi all, I'm having a scrollview as the detailedview of tableview cell. There are multiple views on the detailedview like labels, buttons etc. which I'm creating through interface builder. What I'm creating through interface builder is static. I'm putting everything on a view of height 480. A label on my detailedview is having dynamic text which can extend to any length. The problem is that I need to set the scrollview's content size for which I need its height. How shall I set scrollview's height provided the content is dynamic?

  • Call a function from another Class - Obj C

    - by AndrewDK
I'm trying to figure out how I can call a function from another one of my classes. I'm using a RootViewController to setup one of my views as lets say AnotherViewController So in my AnotherViewController im going to add in on the .h file @class RootViewController And in the .m file im going to import the View #import "RootViewController.h" I have a function called: -(void)toggleView { //do something } And then in my AnotherViewController I have a button assigned out as: -(void)buttonAction { //} In the buttonAction I would like to be able to call the function toggleView in my RootViewController. Can someone clarify on how I do this. I've tried adding this is my buttonAction: RootViewController * returnRootObject = [[RootViewController alloc] init]; [returnRootObject toggleView]; But I dont think that's right. Thanks in advanced.

  • Dynamically changing background color of a UIView

    - by EricM
Hello- Here's my setup. I have a viewcontroller that I'm creating and adding as a subview. The viewcontroller presents some options that a user can chose from. The viewcontroller is being pushed in response to a "long press" gesture. Within the viewcontroller, I added a child UIView to group some other controls together so I can move them around the screen as a unit and, when they are displayed, center them on the location of the long press. Here is the code that instantiates the view controller, changes its location, and adds it as a subview: UserOptions *opts = [[UserOptions alloc] initWithNibName:@"UserOptions" bundle:nil]; [opts recenterOptions:location]; [self.view addSubview:opts.view]; That bit of code does create and push the viewcontroller, but the call to recenterOptions doesn't do anything. Here is that method: - (void) recenterOptions:(CGPoint)location { CGRect oldFrame = self.optionsView.frame; CGFloat newX = location.x; // + oldFrame.size.width / 2.0; CGFloat newY = location.y; // + oldFrame.size.height / 2.0; CGRect newFrame = CGRectMake(newX, newY, oldFrame.size.width, oldFrame.size.height); self.optionsView.frame = newFrame; } Note that self.optionsView is the child UIView that I added to the viewcontroller's nib. Does anyone know why I'm unable to change the location of the UIView? Regards, Eric
