  • Parsing SQL in .NET

    - by Eli
I'm trying to build a .NET Managed data provider and I need to be able to parse SQL commands. What are good, free (as in beer) objects to do this? - I haven't seen any standard .NET assemblies for this yet. Thanks, Eli.

  • ASP.NET 2.0 - scaffolding a database table for webforms

    - by Francis Huang
Can you recommend a tool that can analyze a SQL database table, read the table columns, and populate an .aspx page with appropriate controls (i.e. textboxes with matching labels)? See this demo of ComponentOne InputPanel for WinForms for the functionality desired. Are there any built-in tools for ASP.NET 2.0 WebForms that can help build a scaffold page for any given database table or entity? Are there any free components out there to help achieve this goal?

  • Autoresize textbox control vertically

    - by andrew
In a C# form, i have a panel anchored all sides, and inside, a textbox, anchored top/left/right. When text gets loaded into the textbox, i want it to auto expand itself vertically so that i don't need to scroll the textbox (scroll the panel at most, if there is more text that doesn't fit the panel). is there any way to do this with a textbox? (i'm not constrained to use this control so if there's another control that fits the description, feel free to mention it)

  • Create flow diagram programmatically

    - by Julian Lettner
I want to visualize components and connections of a HVAC system with .NET/C#. The diagrams will just include a few different components and their connections. They do not have to comply to any formal standard and should look alike the diagrams attached. In addition the user should be able to select a single component/connection (so that I can display additional data). Which free drawing/charting library would you use and why? Thanks for your time.

  • Image control with pan and zoom ability

    - by corvus
I am looking for a free .net winforms control which is able to display images. PictureBox isn't a solution because you have to implement all pan&zoom events yourself. The control should be able to display images like 4000x5000 pixels, have zoom and pan buttons.

  • Very dumb question about IntelliJ IDEA

    - by Alex R
I'm a long-time Eclipse user and I just now decided to try IntelliJ IDEA 9 (free edition) for Scala. A couple of dumb questions: How can I tell if a file I've modified has been saved? How can I tell if I file I've saved has been checked into CVS? I feel incredibly "exposed" to some sort of imminent danger when I don't see the familiar visual cues from Eclipse that indicate a file has been saved and/or checked in. Thanks

  • Html / Email / Distribution list problem from a noob

    - by Hezeus
I need to create a feature for a website that will allow a user to enter their email in order to receive a free promotion (which will be emailed immediately) and be added to an announcement list. I haven't done any web programming and am wondering where I should start? Should I just create a database and everytime an email is entered, add the email to the database, then when I want to send out an announcement just write a script that will send an email to every address? Thanks!

  • Gathering Staff anyone interested?

    - by kasene
Thread Title - Gathering Staff Rush-Soft Game Design is currently looking for staff of a moderate skill level. Team Name - RushSoft Game Design Project Name - N/A We are gathering staff so that we can begin working on a new game. Target Aim - Freeware / Free Version - Paid Version With our first project our aim is to simply get our name out there. Generally we will be targeting a freeware distribution platform or a Free and Paid version. Compensation - Prehaps in the future but don't rely on it If in the future we start developing a game we intend to make any sort of sizable profit from then yes, there will be compensation however currently our low, low funding comes from generous donations. Any money that we make for now will go to the teams funding for things like engine licenses and company registration. Technology - C/C++ RSETech Our primary functional language will be C/C++ as most games are. We will be using a custom built library built on Direct3D called RSETech or RushSoft Engine Technology. Currently its is fully capable of being used for developing a game. The final version is made up of almost entirely C (No C++ or OOP). There is a C++ version currently in the works. Programming: - Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 / 2010 2D Art - Photoshop CS2 - GIMP Talent Needed - We currently are in need of x2 Programmers - With understanding of the following C/C ++ and game programming aspects: -If/Else Conditions -Functions/Methods -Arrays -Pointers (You don't need to fully understand these. Just know when they need to be used.) -Enums -Loops (For and While) -Structs (and How to use . and - syntax) -Classes (and how to call methods and access variables from a class) -State Machines -Switches -Include Guards -Understanding of how game loops work in general. (Init, Update, Render, Deinit) x2 Artists - As long as you have the means to and are able to draw 2D sprites and collab with a game designer to get a good result. 1 or more Game Designers - You can design levels (for platformers) as well as write game scripts and you can come up with good ideas and game mechanics. As long as you can do these things and are able to work well with artists and programmers you're golden. Business Consultant - Someone who knows the industry and how it works. Will inquire about possible distribution platforms as well as contact other developers, websites, and publishers on RushSofts behalf. Team Structure - Kasene Clark - Co-Founder/Lead Programmer/Game Designer Casey W - Co-Founder/Artist(GC/Animation)/Game Designer Nathan Mayworm - Game Designer. • Network communication for a turn based board game

    - by randooom
Hi all, my first question here, so please don't be to harsh if something went wrong :) I'm currently a CS student (from Germany, if this info is of any use ;) ) and we got a, free selectable, programming assignment, which we have to write in a C++/CLI Windows Forms Application. My team, two others and me, decided to go for a network-compatible port of the board game Risk. We divided the work in 3 Parts, namely UI, game logic and network. Now we're on the part where we have to get everything working together and the big question mark is, how to get the clients synchronized with each other? Our approach so far is, that each client has all information necessary to calculate and/or execute all possible actions. Actually the clients have all information available at all, aside from the game-initializing phase (add players, select map, etc.), which needs one "super-client" with some extra stuff to control things. This is the standard scenario of our approach: player performs action, the action is valid and got executed on the players client action is sent over the network action is executed on the other clients The design (i.e. no or code so far) we came up with so far, is something like the following pseudo sequence diagram. Gui, Controller and Network implement all possible actions (i.e. all actions which change data) as methods from an interface. So each part can implement the method in a way to get their job done. Example with Action(): On the player side's Client: Player-->Gui.Action() Gui-->Controller.Action() Controller-->Logic.Action (Logic.Action() == NoError)? Controller-->Network.Action() Network-->Parser.ParseAction() Network.Send(msg) On all other clients: Network.Recv(msg) Network-->Parser.Deparse(msg) Parser-->Logic.Action() Logic-->Gui.Action() The questions: Is this a viable approach to our task? Any better/easier way to this? Recommendations, critique? Our knowledge (so you can better target your answer): We are on the beginner side, in regards to programming on a somewhat larger projects with a small team. All of us have some general programming experience and basic understanding of the .Net Libraries and Windows Forms. If you need any further information, please feel free to ask.

  • Looking for exercises to learn SQL, using the Northwind database

    - by MedicineMan
I am trying to become more familiar with SQL by writing queries against the Northwind database. I am looking for some exercises that would help me to learn SQL and features of SQL Server. It is important that the exercises have solutions, and in complicated cases, it would be great if there was an explanation for the query. Thanks for the answers so far but I still have not found what I am looking for: Is there any free resource, available online, without registration, that I can find a list of these exercises?

  • Online PHP/HTML/JS/CSS editor

    - by pistacchio
Hi to all, is there any free php code that, once installed, allows you to browse and edit files (with html, javascript, php and css highlight) on the server where it's installed? The aim is to code online, browser based. I've tried http://phpanywhere.net/ that can make this possible, but it is buggy and moreover it requires an external (ftp) access to your server that is quite different (and less secure) that working directly on the server. Thanks in advance

  • FileFinder using SQL

    - by James Morgan
I was thinking of working on a project while I have some free time and this one looks pretty nice: http://mindprod.com/project/filefinder.html One thing I'm wondering about is that will it really be much faster compared to the regular windows search if I use SQL? I'm planning to use MySQL since it's open source. Also, do I need to be good at databases for this? I have basic knowledge about relational databases and can definitely make some SQL statements. Thanks.
