Hi,
I have an application in C# (2.0 running in XP embedded) that is using a watchdog that is implemented as a Windows Service. When the device boots, this service typically takes some time to start. I'd like to check, from my code, if the service is running. How can I accomplish this?
Hi,
I have a C# Windows Service that needs to access to a Linux computer to get a list of files in a particular directory. What .NET 3.5SP1 method would one use that allows me to do this?
Thanks.
VS 2008 SP1 craching when I open an ASPX file on Windows XP
Has anyone experienced this before ?
VS does not give me any error messages. It simply shuts down very quickly.
Hi all.
I am looking for information on the integration of some of the new Windows 7 taskbar features into my PyQt applications.
Specifically if there already exists the possibility to use the new progress indicator (see here) and the quick links (www.petri.co.il/wp-content/uploads/new_win7_taskbar_features_8.gif).
If anyone could provide a few links or just a "not implemented yet", I'd be very grateful.
Thanks a lot.
I recently did a fresh install of Windows 7. I installed Ruby 1.8.6 and Watir via RubyGems. When I try to run a Watir script, IE opens and the first page is called, but the problem seems to be that the script doesn't wait for the page to finish loading (which it's always done in the past). Subsequent lines in the script try to access page elements that haven't loaded yet. Is anyone else having this problem?
hi-
i'm following the instructions on how to build a custom search provider for windows federated search:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd742956(v=VS.85)
i'm returning local results of the form:
File://C:\Users\user\file.txt
however, when i perform a search, i get results that say:
"This item was blocked because of your Internet security settings".
how can i change my security settings so that federated search will allow my customer search provider to return local filesystem results?
thanks.
Could you tell me what .NET framework installed by default on Windows XP system?
Because I wanted to write a C# application that does not require anything else to be installed.
If none is there any way not to force users to download .net framework (for example 3.5) but install it?
How do I set, temporarily, the PYTHONPATH environment variable just before executing a Python script?
In *nix, I can do this:
$ PYTHONPATH='.' python scripts/doit.py
In Windows, this syntax does not work, of course. What is the equivalent, though?

127.0.0.1 mysite
::1 mysite
I forgot why I added the ::1, but I think it was important. Anyone know what the second line is for? Thanks in advance.
Edit
One more question. What happens if I leave it out? The web site I'm working on doesn't address via IPv6, at least, not that I know of.
Are there command line merge tools for windows? I'm thinking in terms of tools that can be used in conjunction with other tools (e.g. git, unison) to resolve conflicts.
Actually, it doesn't need to strictly be command-line based, as long as it "cooperate" with other command line tools (as I mentioned, git for example), then it's fine.
I have ubuntu 10.04 installed on my machine. I want to execute commands on remote windows xp machine ( I have username and password of admin account of remote machine ) so as to launch application like Internet Explorer, Notepad or some bat script. Is there any command line utility to do this via ubuntu? I tried rdesktop, winexe, ssh, telnet but they are not much of use. Can you please suggest some other way?
Hi,
since the new SDK 1.1 is missing the tutorial for "ASPProviders", i am currently asking myself how i would implement a "azure session state provider" ( this is the path in the "old" SDK: C:\Program Files\Windows Azure SDK\v1.0\Samples\AspProviders )

Has anyone an idea or even the old example project and could post some snippets of the config here?

I am creating a Windwos Installer project just for the use of installing our third party assemblies into the gac of the users computer. The problem i am running into, is when i make an update to the assemblie and increment it's version number, i get an error saying:
"Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue..." I would have figured that windows installer would update the local machine with the new assemblie. Am i doing something wrong?
Hello folks,

I have a shared disk that I would like to clean up once per week using a scheduled task of some sort. I would like to use a batch script so that the system admins can easily modify it or reuse it on other directories when needed.
The directory has files with multiple file extensions but the ones that need to be deleted end in .bkf and must be over 2 weeks old.
Does anyone have a batch script solution for this windows server (not sure which version)?
I'm going to have my website hosted soon on a VPS or dedicated server (with Windows 2008), so I'm trying to plan ahead. I wonder whether the built-in SMTP server that comes with IIS7 is reliable enough for a production server or should I look for an alternative? I heard good things about hmailserver and best of all it's free, do you have any experience with using the bulit-in SMTP on a high traffic website.
Thanks a lot for any suggestions
I want to run a console application (eg app.exe) from a windows form load event.
I'v tried System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(), But after it opens app.exe, it closes it immidiately.
Is there any way that I can run app.exe and leave it open?
Sometime back I used a windows tool to see what a process is doing. This tool allowed me to inspect functions exported from DLL. It also allowed me to change the values passed to a function on the fly.
I cannot recollect the name(not sure if that was free or commercial one). Could any one point to me solution that can do this?
(Tools like ProcessExplorer, ProcessMonitor helps a bit.. this was better)
Cheers,
Jayan
