  • Noob with git repository on Windows Storage Server 2008?

    - by HibbyHoo
I have a Western Digital Sentinel at home running Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials. I have several git repositories on it for my own personal projects, and have no problem pushing and pulling over my local network. I want to be able to access those repos remotely from anywhere. I am able to log in and remotely access folders and files on it, but I cannot clone repos using the same address. It hangs for a REALLY long time before finally failing with an error: git.exe clone --progress -v "https://myIpAddressHere/Remote/fs/files.aspx?path=%5C%5Cmydevicename%5Cmyreposfolder%5Cmyrepo.git" "D:\repo" Cloning into 'D:\repo'... error: Failed connect to myIpAddress:443; No error while accessing https://myIpAddress/Remote/fs/files.aspx?path=%5C%5Cmydevicename%5Cmyreposfolder%5Cmyrepo.git/info/refs fatal: HTTP request failed git did not exit cleanly (exit code 128) I'm not too privy to networking or web development, and I have only a rudimentary understanding of how to use git (with TortoiseGit). I'm having a hard time finding search results for this specific problem and a hard time interpreting generic tutorials for the general scope of this problem. TortoiseGit version: 1.7.13.0. git version: 1.7.10.mysysgit.1.

  • Strategies on synching data and caching data between iphone and server

    - by Blankman
Say I have a TODO list iphone app, that can be edited/viewed from both a web application and the iphone application. When on the iphone, when a user views all his todo lists, or sub-items, I would think that each time the user views a particular list it shouldn't be hitting the web applications API every-time, but rather cache locally the values and only hit the web when things change. What strategies are there for this type of scenerio?

  • Windows Server 2008 Alerting to Low memory

    - by t1nt1n
I have a file and print server running on Windows 2008 R2 fully patched in a VSphere environment (ESXi 5.1 fully updated). Every evening between 19:20 and 19:30 our monitoring software reported that the available memory is 1% and performance is dire. There is nothing in the event logs to point to an issue. At this point in the evening I am general the only user on the system to check to see why these alerts are going off. Things I have done; Checked to see if any backups are running – None at all. Checked Scheduled tasks – None before or during this time period. Moved the VM to another host. AV is disabled to rule out that as the issue. The server does not have any problems during the day with memory when fully loaded with about 50 users. The server did have 4GB ram provisioned but I have increased this to 5Gb. Running PrefMon at the time (I will save the graphs tonight) There very little CPU usage at the time but RAM usage goes up.

  • How can I order fields in Django ModelForm?

    - by joozek
I have an 'order' Model: class Order(models.Model): date_time=models.DateTimeField() # other stuff And I'm using Django ModelForm class to render a form, but I want to display date and time widgets separately. I've came up with this: class Form(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = Order exclude = ('date_time',) date = forms.DateField() time = forms.TimeField() The problem is that I want to put these fields somewhere between 'other stuff'

  • Is 40+ Logons on Exchange 2003 per user normal?

    - by cbsch
Hello! We've had a problem at work where users sometimes randomly can't connect to exchange. I've found out that it's because they reached the limit of 32 concurrent logons. I increased the maximum allowed connections by adding the key "Maximum Allowed Sessions Per User" in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem. But I'm not sure if this is a real good fix. Looking at the logons some users has as many as 15 logons with the exact same logon time. I know for sure that Outlook 2007 does this, as I was watching them while a user connected with Outlook after a restart on the Exchange service. Every user also has an iPhone connected to exchange, I don't know if these cause the same thing. Is this normal? Could there be a bug in the software? (The Outlook 2007 has nothing configured, except added the user, pure vanilla installs). The users are mobile, and when Outlook generates up to 15 connection every time it connects, and I've read (no sources, sorry) that Outlook doesn't time out connections before 2 hours. I might have to set this number real high to prevent it from being a problem.

  • How would I find voluntary programming work?

    - by Ben
While I look for a job, I'd like to do something useful with my time. I have a feeling there must be schools or charities or other worthy organisations that could use some of my time, but I've no idea how to go about finding them. Is there a marketplace for this kind of thing? I live in the UK.

I'm looking for Windows software that allows me to effectlively manage already made voice recordings. I have a series of recordings taken from an iPhone and I have extracted the files. The problem is that these are very long recordings and therefore I'm looking for software that allows me to: Bookmark a time in the recording Effectively manage multiple files (like Adobe Bridge does with images) Freeware or Payware Possibly other features, I haven't done this before and I'm sorry I'm unable to give a more professional description. Thanks in advance to everyone who can help! If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask - I will try my best to provide useful answers.

  • What can you do and not do with java annotations?

    - by swampsjohn
The typical use-case is for simple things like @Override, but clearly you can do a lot more with them. If you push the limits of them, you get things like Project Lombok, though my understanding is that that's a huge abuse of annotations. What exactly can you do? What sort of things can you do at compile-time and run-time with annotations? What can you not do?

  • What have you learned from your students?

    - by Helper Method
It is said that a true master learns from his students. Since I'm tutoring at university, from time to time a question or a comment from the students I'm working with made me to see something from a different perspective, you get deeper insights, etc. So, what have you learned from your students/junior developers/... ?

  • Looking for early paper about compiling object-oriented code

    - by Robert Kosara
I remember reading a paper a long time ago that talked about object-oriented programming. I believe that this was from the early 1980s or perhaps even before then. This was at the time when object-oriented programming was still done through pre-processors, and one thing that stuck with me is this: it argued that you could write code in either procedural or object-oriented fashion, and after preprocessing/compiling, you would end up with the exact same machine code. Does anybody know which paper I'm talking about?

  • Very Dark Windows 7 Screen

    - by user147521
My Gateway laptop -Windows 7- screen became too dark a few days ago after I finished installing Windows automatic update. I can see nothing unless I use a flashlight. Windows login screen is the only bright screen for few seconds. What should I do to resolve this issue? I checked power-saving/ Power Options settings and rebooting in Safe Mode. I tried to lower the refresh rate but it did not allow me. The laptop adapter type is ATI Radeon Xpress series. I calibrated display color. I uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter. I tried to update the driver but the driver is up to-date. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Displaying Longitude and Latitude values stored in a SQLite db as a Route on a MapView in Android (N

    - by LordSnoutimus
I am currently in the process of creating an application that records current location of a mobile device in intervals, displaying the route as a coloured line on the device in real-time. At the same time the application is storing the longitude and latitude in a SQLite database as I want the user to be able to bring up that specific route again. The route has a primary key and each waypoint is linked to that route by a foreign key. What would be the easiest way to display the saved route on the map?.

  • Prevent Excel Chart Data Labels overlapping

    - by Nicholas
I have an Excel dashboard with line charts containing data labels. Specifically, we are only using the data labels at the rightmost end of the lines, and the labels consist of the Series name and final value. By changing a dropdown, the dashboard is automatically updated to give 19 different dashboards. The problem is that we can't work out any way of preventing the labels overlapping. Everything else on the dashboard can be made to automatically update nicely, except for this. Can anybody think of a way to do this? E.g. plugin or macro.

  • Any reason not to use USE_ETAGS with CommonMiddleware in Django?

    - by allyourcode
The only reason I can think of is that calculating ETag's might be expensive. If pages change very quickly, the browser's cache is likely to be invalidated by the ETag. In that case, calculating the ETag would be a waste of time. On the other hand, a giving a 304 response when possible minimizes the amount of time spent in transmission. What are some good guidelines for when ETag's are likely to be a net winner when implemented with Django's CommonMiddleware?

  • MySQL: LOAD DATA reclaim disk space after delete

    - by Michael
I have a DB schema composed of MYISAM tables, i am interested to delete old records from time to time from some of the tables. I know that delete does not reclaim the memory space, but as i found in a description of DELETE command, inserts may reuse the space deleted In MyISAM tables, deleted rows are maintained in a linked list and subsequent INSERT operations reuse old row positions. I am interested if LOAD DATA command also reuses the deleted space? UPDATE I am also interested how the index space reclaimed?
