In sql server 2008, i have taken Full backup type of my database and database was successfully done.My question is while restoring it how can i check or know that my whole backup was perfect ?
I have this scenario: I have a chain of query handlers, the first is to query the cache, if the cache can't answer it or the answer is stale, then hit a database, if it can't find the answer or the answer is stale again, then query a remote web service.
But I am not sure if this is the right way to use this pattern, since the work flow is pretty much fixed, and the cache and database handlers depend on the next step's return result to refresh its records.
Would one expect a backup of a SQL Server Compact database file created with Volume Shadow Copy Service expected to be consistent? I know the big SQL Server has a VSS writer to ensure consistency. If a connection is writing out to a SQL Server Compact database could the file be backed up in a inconsistent state?
I have created a TransactionScope and within the scope various items are created and updated in the database. During this process I make a lot of calls to the database. Originally I opened a SqlConnection in the beginning of the TransactionScope and passed it around to any function that made a DB call then I closed the connection after all the calls are made and before the transaction commits. Is it better to do this or to open and close a connection for each call?
I've following code, it gives run time error as below... why?
try{
String myPath = DB_PATH + DB_NAME;
mDB = SQLiteDatabase.openDatabase(myPath, null, SQLiteDatabase.OPEN_READONLY);
}catch(SQLiteException e){}
Runtime Error:
:sqlite returned: error code = 1, msg = no such table: android_metadata
:SELECT locale FROM android_metadata failed
:Failed to setLocale() when constructing, closing the database
:android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException: no such table: android_metadata
I made a dump of a postgres database and I want to create the database on my localmachine. I'm trying to use pg_restore

What am I doing wrong? Operating sytem Ubuntu 9.10
I am considering building several C#/.NET4 applications all using a central, cloud based database. In addition, several LAMP (MySQL) web shops will be accessing the cloud DB.
MySQL is the database that I'm most familiar with, and my default selection for the cloud DB would be MySQL on Amazon or Joyent. However, I was wondering what development "extras" are available for SQLServer in VisualStudio 2010 that are not available for MySQL. Are there any "killer features" that should make me consider SQLServer instead of MySQL?
I choosed a web project in order to do that i am using an IDE (Eclipse), database (DB2 universal driver) and Apache Tomcat server. So, by gods grace every thing has gone well but when I try to update data to DB2 database through JDBC code then I am getting an SQL DB error as
:: DB2 SQL error: SQLCODE: -204, SQLSTATE: 42704, SQLERRMC: DB2ADMIN.REGISTER
where register is my table name and even i logged in as db2admin but i think there is no connectivity established but still its not resolved
to create new a new databse file start sql server management studio express on db server and create it!
i would like to create a database using c# in my web application visual studio 08
is it possible?
as connection string has to have a name of database to connect, but i want to create one.
Hi all, We need to find a way to programatically *link all the tables* in a SQL Server database to an access db. We will be invoking this access database from a program that uses .net/SQL Server 2008.
While invoking the application we would like to add the linked tables so that the users can just run the reports/modules from access without having to worry about linking the tables. Is there a way we can do this?
Thanks!
I am developing a site where I am sending parameters like ids by url. I have used urlencode and base64encode to encode the parameters.
My problem is that how can I prevent the users or hackers to play with url paramenters Or give access only if the parameter value is exist in database?
I have at least 2 and at most 5 parameter in url so is this feasible to check every parameter is exist in database on every page?
Thanks
We have ASP.NET framework 3.5 hosted in Windows 2003 Server 32-bits.
Database: Oracle 10gR2 in Windows 2003 Server 64-bits
We should use ODP.NET 10.2.0.3.
Questions:
- Is ODP.NET 10.2.0.3 made to connect to a 32bit or 64bit Oracle database?
- Is the same for Oracle Client?
I am aware that you can generate create scripts to generate database objects, but I am looking a way to generate an update script that compares two different schemas (two mapping files).
That way I can provide my users with easy database updating from any version to the current version.
Thanks!
How do I build a connection string which includes a passsword having a "=" in it? (I'm connecting to MySql 5.1)
For example, let's say the password is "Ge5f8z=6", what would the connection string look like?
I tried:
Server=DBSERV;Database=mydb;UID=myuser;PWD="Ge5f8z=6";
and
Server=DBSERV;Database=mydb;UID=myuser;PWD=Ge5f8z=6;"
Both don't work.
Hi Guys,
In my iPhone app, I have many ASCII arts which I need to insert into the database.
I am using the simulator and pasting the textpic in the textview to insert the ASCII art to database.
Here the clipboard of simulator once pastes the art properly but when I copy another art then too it pastes the previous art into textview.
How to solve this problem?
Is there a work around for this or any better approach?
Please Help and Suggest
Thanks
Hi,
I am using the code from this tutorial to parse a CSV file and add the contents to a database table. How would I ignore the first line of the CSV file? The controller code is below:
def csv_import
@parsed_file=CSV::Reader.parse(params[:dump][:file])
n = 0
@parsed_file.each do |row|
s = Student.new
s.name = row[0]
s.cid = row[1]
s.year_id = find_year_id_from_year_title(row[2])
if s.save
n = n+1
GC.start if n%50==0
end
flash.now[:message] = "CSV Import Successful, #{n} new students added to the database."
end
redirect_to(students_url)
end
Can anyone recommend a tutorial on how to write a java servlet which connects to ms sql server and manages data?
I'm trying to write something which pulls products out of one database and inserts them into a stored procedure located on another database.
thanks in advance
Currently I am creating a WCF service which has to connect to a DAL which, just connects to a database using ADO.net and stored procedures.
The DAl writes its responses from the database to a datacontract which is passed over the wire to the client via the service.
I was reading that this may possibly be the anti pattern 'CRudy Interface', but I wasn't sure as I am sharing the datacontract.
If I am using an anti pattern, can anyone suggest a better pattern to use for the behavior I require?
Thanks
I have an existing web application using Castle Activerecord to interact with a single MySQL database. The Database has recently been reconfigured to replicate to a number of Slaves.
How do you configure Castle Activerecord to direct writes to the MySQL Master and reads to the MySQL Slaves?
I have two servers - one Django, the other likely to be written in Python - and one is putting 'tasks' into a database and another is processing these tasks.
They share a database, but I want the processor to react quickly to new tasks rather than polling periodically.
Are there any straightforward ways for two Python servers to talk to one another, or does the task processor have to have web-hooks or something?
It feels there ought to be a blessed way to do this...
I have some procedures to execute in the database that has an OUT REFCURSOR parameter.
When I am connecting with the JDBC thin client, everything works fine. However, if I were to change the connection string to refer to the ODBC data source pointing to the same database, those procedures will fail. The procedures that do not use an OUT REFCURSOR will still work fine though.
Is this situation the result of an error on my part or expected?
I have an export from a MYSQL database on a linux machine however when importing that database into MYSQL on windows all of the table names that were camel cased are now all lower case. The sql dump has the correct case in it but the importing via phpmyadmin seams to remove these.
How can I import it and keep the case?
Thanks
For the warehouse work under progress, we have a single solution with multiple projects in it
OLTP Database Project
Warehouse Database Project
SSIS ETL project
After the SSIS project is built, I want to move the binaries (XML, really) from the Bin folder to "C:\AutomatedTasks\ETL.Warehouse\" and "C:\AutomatedTasks\ETL"
I cannot find the Post-Build events to do that for the SSIS project. Where are they? If they aren't available, how do I achieve this?
