  • How should I re-raise a Delphi exception after logging it?

    - by Nik
Do you know a way to trap, log, and re-raise exception in Delphi code? A simple example: procedure TForm3.Button1Click(Sender: TObject); begin try raise Exception.Create('Bum'); except on E: Exception do begin MyHandleException(E); end; end; end; procedure TForm3.MyHandleException(AException: Exception); begin ShowMessage(AException.Message); LogThis(AException.Message); // raise AException; - this will access violate end; So I need to re-raise it in the except block but I was wondering if there is a better way to write my own method to handle and (on specific conditions) to re-raise exceptions.

  • Export view data programmatically in Access/SQL Server

    - by andy
We have an Access application front-end connected to a SQL Server 2000 database. We would like to be able to programmatically export the results of some views to whatever format we can (ideally Excel, but CSV / tab delimited is fine). Up until now we've just hit F11, opened up the view, and hit File-Save As, but we're starting to get results with more than 16,000 results, which can't be exported. I'd like some sort of server side stored procedure we can trigger that will do this. I'm aware of the sp_makewebtask procedure that does this, however it requires administrative rights on the server, and for obvious reasons we can't give that to everyone. Any ideas?

  • How to use a data type (table) defined in another database in SQL2k8?

    - by Victor Rodrigues
I have a Table Type defined in a database. It is used as a table-valued parameter in a stored procedure. I would like to call this procedure from another database, and in order to pass the parameter, I need to reference this defined type. But when I do DECLARE @table dbOtherDatabase.dbo.TypeName , it tells me that The type name 'dbOtherDatabase.dbo.TypeName' contains more than the maximum number of prefixes. The maximum is 1. How could I reference this table type?

  • How do I digitally sign an HTTPS request in .net?

    - by Endy Tjahjono
Is there a built in procedure to digitally sign an HTTPS request with client's SSL private key in .net? Also, is there a built in procedure to verify the digital signature against an SSL certificate? Or do I have to roll my own? Or is there a third party library? I need the request to be digitally signed because the client manipulates money, so I want to be sure that the request really comes from the client and that nobody tampers with the content of the request. I'm also considering using SSL client certificate, but it can only provide confidentiality and authentication, but not data integrity.

  • Avoiding "variable might not have been initialized"

    - by Mason Wheeler
I recently ran across a routine that looks something like this: procedure TMyForm.DoSomething(list: TList<TMyObject>; const flag: boolean); var local: integer; begin if flag then //do something else local := ExpensiveFunctionCallThatCalculatesSomething; //do something else for i := 0 to list.Count do if flag then //do something else if list[i].IntValue > local then //WARNING HERE //do something else end; This gives Variable 'local' might not have been initialized even though you can tell by reading the code that you won't hit that line unless the code branch that initializes it has run. Now, I could get rid of this warning by adding a useless local := 0; at the top of the procedure, but I wonder if there might not be a better way to structure this to avoid the issue. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Delphi Unit local variables - how to make each instance unique?

    - by Justin
Ok, this, I'm sure is something simple that is easy to do. The problem : I've inherited scary spaghetti code and am slowly trying to better it when new features need adding - generally when a refactor makes adding the new feature neater. I've got a bunch of code I'm packing into a single unit which, in different places in the application, controls the same physical thing in the outside world. The control appears in several places in the application and operates slightly differently in each instance. What I've done is to create a unit with all of the features I need which I can simply drop, as a frame, into each form that requires it. Each form then uses the unit's interface methods to customise the behaviour for each instance. The problem within the problem : In the unit in question (the frame) I have a variable declared in the IMPLEMENTATION section - local to the unit. I also have a procedure, declared in the TYPE section which takes an argument and assigns that argument to the local variable in question - each form passes a unique variable to each instance of the frame/unit. What I want it to do is for each instance of the frame to keep its own version of that variable, different from the others, and use that to define how it operates. What seems to be happening, however, is that all instances are using the same value, even if I explicitly pass each instance a different variable. ie: Unit FlexibleUnit; interface uses //the uses stuff type TFlexibleUnit=class(TFrame) //declarations including procedure makeThisInstanceX(passMeTheVar:integer); private // public // end; implementation uses //the uses var myLocalVar; procedure makeThisInstanceX(passMeTheVar:integer); begin myLocalVar:=passMeTheVar; end; //other procedures using myLocalVar //etc to the end; Now somewhere in another Form I've dropped this Frame onto the Design pane, sometimes two of these frames on one Form, and have it declared in the proper places, etc. Each is unique in that : ThisFlexibleUnit : TFlexibleUnit; ThatFlexibleUnit : TFlexibleUnit; and when I do a: ThisFlexibleUnit.makeThisInstanceX(var1); //want to behave in way "var1" ThatFlexibleUnit.makeThisInstanceX(var2); //want to behave in way "var2" it seems that they both share the same variable "myLocalVar". Am I doing this wrong, in principle? If this is the correct method then it's a matter of debugging what I have (which is too huge to post) but if this is not correct in principle then is there a way to do what I am suggesting? Thanks in advance, Stack Overflow - you guys (and gals!) are legendary.

  • ASP.Net delete record audit trigger

    - by Germ
Suppose you have the following... A ASP.NET web application that calls a stored procedure to delete a record. The table has a trigger on it that will insert an audit entry each time a record is deleted. I want to be able to record in the audit entry the person who deleted the record. What would be the best way to go about achieving this? I know I could remove the trigger and have the delete stored procedure insert the audit entry prior to deleting but are there other recommeded alternative?

  • What is the difference between declaring data attributes inside or outside __init__

    - by user1898540
I'm trying to get my head around OOP in Python and I'm a bit confused when it comes to declare variables within a class. Should I declare them inside of the __init__ procedure or outside it? What's the difference? The following code works just fine: # Declaring variables within __init__ class MyClass: def __init__(self): country = "" city = "" def information(self): print "Hi! I'm from %s, (%s)"%(self.city,self.country) me = MyClass() me.country = "Spain" me.city = "Barcelona" me.information() But declaring the variables outside of the __init procedure also works: # Declaring variables outside of __init__ class MyClass: country = "" city = "" def information(self): print "Hi! I'm from %s, (%s)"%(self.city,self.country) me = MyClass() me.country = "Spain" me.city = "Barcelona" me.information()

  • Anonymous method as function result

    - by iamjoosy
    What I want to do is to assign an anonymous method which I get as a function result to a variable of the same type. Delphi complains about not beeing able to do the assignement. Obviously Delphi things I want to assign the "GetListener" function instead of the result of that same function. Any help with this is very much appreciated. type TPropertyChangedListener = reference to procedure (Sender: TStimulus); TMyClass = class function GetListener:TPropertyChangedListener end; .... var MyClass: TMyClass; Listener: TPropertyChangedListener; begin MyClass:= TMyClass.create; Listener:= MyClass.GetListener; // Delphi compile error: E2010 Incompatible types: TPropertyChangedListener' and 'Procedure of object' end;

  • Best way to perform DELETE that uses ids from a SELECT statement in MYSQL

    - by Aglystas
I'm working on a stored procedure, that needs to delete specific rows based on a timestamp. Here's what I was going to use until I found out you can't include a select clause in the delete statement if they are both working on the same table. DELETE FROM product WHERE merchant_id = 2 AND product_id IN (SELECT product_id FROM product WHERE merchant_id = 1 AND timestamp_updated > 1275062558); Is there a good way to handle this within a stored procedure. Normally I would just throw the logic to build the product_id list in php, but I'm trying to have all the processing done on the data server.

  • SQL help - find the table that has 'somefieldId' as the primary key?

    - by Kettenbach
Hello All, How can I search my sql database for a table that contains a field 'tiEntityId'. This field is referenced in a stored procedure, but I am unable to identify which table this id is a primary key for? Any suggestions? I currently look through stored procedure definitions for references to text by using something like this Declare @Search varchar(255) SET @Search='[10.10.100.50]' SELECT DISTINCT o.name AS Object_Name,o.type_desc FROM sys.sql_modules m INNER JOIN sys.objects o ON m.object_id=o.object_id WHERE m.definition Like '%'+@Search+'%' ORDER BY 2,1 Any SQL guru's out there know what I need to use to find the table that contains the field, 'preferably the table where that field is the Primary Key. Thanks so much for any tips. Cheers, ~ck in San Diego

  • SQL 2005 - Search stored procedures for text (Not all text is being searched)

    - by hamlin11
The following bits of code do not seem to be searching the entire routine definition. Code block 1: select top 50 * from information_schema.routines where routine_definition like '%09/01/2008%' and specific_Name like '%NET' Code Block 2: SELECT ROUTINE_NAME, ROUTINE_DEFINITION FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.ROUTINES WHERE ROUTINE_DEFINITION LIKE '%EffectiveDate%' AND ROUTINE_TYPE='PROCEDURE' and ROUTINE_NAME like '%NET' I know for a fact that these bits of SQL work under most circumstances. The problem is this: When I run this for "EffectiveDate" which is buried at line ~800 in a few stored procedures, these stored procedures never show up in the results. It's as if "like" only searches so deep. Any tips on fixing this? I want to search the ENTIRE stored procedure for the specified text. Thanks!

  • Doing a SetLength on an array passed into a proc by reference

    - by csharpdefector
Hi All, Sure, even I can do this... var testarray : array of string; setlength(testarray, 5); but if I want to get clever and have a procedure into which I pass the array by referance like this I cant do it! procedure DoStuffWithArray(var passedarray : array of string); begin setlength(passedarray, 5); end; compiler says 'incompatible types' on the single line of code in my proc. I can do other stuff on the array like set set element values if i do a setlength before i call the proc, but I cannot do the setlength in my proc, which is what I want to do. Any help much appreciated, thanks all.

  • Selectively parsing log files using Java

    - by GPX
I have to parse a big bunch of log files, which are in the following format. SOME SQL STATEMENT/QUERY DB20000I The SQL command completed successfully. SOME OTHER SQL STATEMENT/QUERY DB21034E The command was processed as an SQL statement because it was not a valid Command Line Processor command. EDIT 1: The first 3 lines (including a blank line) indicate an SQL statement executed successfully, while the next three show the statement and the exception it caused. darioo's reply below, suggesting the use of grep instead of Java, works beautifully for a single line SQL statement. EDIT 2: However, the SQL statement/query might not be a single line, necessarily. Sometimes it is a big CREATE PROCEDURE...END PROCEDURE block. Can this problem be overcome using only Unix commands too? Now I need to parse through the entire log file and pick all occurrences of the pair of (SQL statement + error) and write them in a separate file. Please show me how to do this!

I need your help Can anyone help me? first question This procedure should modify each element which’s index in the list is even. The value of the element should be equal to the new-element. For example: (define number-list (1 56 8 1 43 9 78)) (modify-even-indices number-list 10) The new list: 1 10 8 10 43 10 78 second question This problem is the extended version of Question 1. (modify-even-odd-indices my-list new-element modification-type) This procedure should modify each element according to the modification-type. The modification-type can be even or odd. • Reading Values Returned by SQLDataSource Before Binding to FormView

    - by peter.newhook
I have a FormView that shows posts by users. I'd like to add Edit and Delete commands to the post to let the original author edit or delete their post. I'd like these commands to be available to only the author. The FormView is populated by a SqlDataSource that uses a stored procedure. I was thinking I would set the Edit and Delete hyperlink to Visible=False, then compare the currently signed in user guid to the guid of the post's author, and make the hyperlinks visible if the two guids are the same. I've tried using the Selected event of the SqlDataSource to capture the guid (which is returned by the stored procedure) however I can't find way to get the values returned by this datasource. How do I access the values returned by a SqlDataSource before they get databound?

  • Using stored procedures to generate RDLC report in C#

    - by NDraskovic
I'm making an application that generates reports for my client. I'm using his database that contains stored procedures which return the data needed for the reports. The problem is that I don't know how to execute them from the application (more specific the TableAdapter in my dataset). When I use the visual aid to create the TableAdapter, it shows the error "Invalid object named #table1". This is weird because there is a temporary table called #table1 in the stored procedure. When I try to do the whole job programmatically, I get the exception Incorrect syntax near '.'. An object or column name is missing or empty. For SELECT INTO statements, verify each column has a name. For other statements, look for empty alias names. Aliases defined as "" or [] are not allowed. Change the alias to a valid name. I created a DataTable that has identical structure as the result of the stored procedure, but I still get the same exception

  • What is the benefit to wrapping every sql/stored proc invocation in a transaction?

    - by MatthewMartin
    The following code executes one stored procedure. The stored procedure has only one command in it. Is there any benefit to wrapping everything in a transaction, even it only has one SQL statement in it (or one stored proc that has only one sql statement)? In the sample code below, if the delete fails, it fails. There is nothing else to be rolled back (it seems). So why is everything wrapped in a transaction anyhow? using (ITransactionManager transMan = repository.TransactionManager()) using (IController controller = repository.Controller()) { transMan.BeginTransaction(); try { //DELETE FROM myTable where Id=@id controller.Delete(id); transMan.CommitTransaction(); } catch { transMan.RollbackTransaction(); throw; } }

  • Can I Use ASP.NET Wizard Control to Insert Data into Multiple Tables?

    - by SidC
Hello All, I have an ASP.NET 3.5 webforms project written in VB that involves a multi-table SQL Server insert. That is, I want the customer to input all their contact information, order details etc. into one control (thinking wizard control). Then, I want to call a stored procedure that does the insert into the respective database tables. I'm familiar and comfortable with the ASP.NET wizard control. However, all the examples I've seen in my searches pertain to inserting data into one table. Questions: 1. Given a typical order process - customer information, order information, order details - should a wizard control be used to insert data into multiple database tables? If not, what controls/workflow do you suggest? 2. I've set primary keys and indexes on my order details, orders and customers tables. Is there special stored procedure syntax to use to ensure that referential integrity is maintained through the insert process? Thanks, Sid
