  • Adding index key in Grails' Domain

    - by firnnauriel
    I tried following this reference and this is now my domain's code: class SnbrActVector { long nid String term double weight static mapping = { version false nid index:'Nid_Idx' } static constraints = { term(blank:false) } } What I want is to do is to add an index key for 'nid' column. I dropped the existing table and run the app again so the table is then recreated. However, when i check for list of indices, I can't see a 'Nid_Idx', only available is 'PRIMARY'. Do I have to manually create the index and name it 'Nid_idx in my mysql database? Thanks.

  • How to create a generic C# method that can return either double or decimal?

    - by CrimsonX
    I have a method like this: private static double ComputePercentage(ushort level, ushort capacity) { double percentage; if(capacity == 1) percentage = 1; // do calculations... return percentage; } Is it possible to make it of a generic type like "type T" where it can return either decimal or double, depending on the type of method expected (or the type put into the function?) I tried something like this and I couldn't get it to work, because I cannot assign a number like "1" to a generic type. I also tried using the "where T :" after ushort capacity) but I still couldn't figure it out. private static T ComputePercentage<T>(ushort level, ushort capacity) { T percentage; if(capacity == 1) percentage = 1; // error here // do calculations... return percentage; } Is this even possible? I wasn't sure, but I thought this post might suggest that what I'm trying to do is just plain impossible.

  • Not getting image in h:graphicImage in JSF

    - by Nitesh Panchal
    Hello, I have this very strange error with h:graphicImage This code works fine :- <h:graphicImage value="/Common/Images/#{item.templatePicName}"/> And this one doesn't :- <h:graphicImage alt="${app:getCommonImagePath(item.templatePicName)}" value="${app:getCommonImagePath(item.templatePicName)}" /> It only shows alt value /Common/Images/Sunset.jpg which is perfectly fine and works in 1st case. Then why doesn't it work in 2nd case? There are no problems with my images. They are present in right directory. here getCommonImagePath is my custom EL function, whose definition is : package Common; public final class AppDeployment { private AppDeployment(){ //hide constructor } private static String commonImageFolderPath = "/Common/Images/"; public static String getCommonImagePath(String picName){ return commonImageFolderPath + picName; } }

  • Incompatible type in assignment

    Getting error: Incompatible type in assignment at fValue = ..., see the code static float t = 0; float d = .5; static float fValue = 0; fValue = [self easeOutBounce:t andB:0 andC:30 andD:d]; here is the method -(float) easeOutBounce:(float)t andB:(float)b andC:(float)c andD:(float)d { if ((t/=d) < (1/2.75)) { return c*(7.5625*t*t) + b; } else if (t < (2/2.75)) { return c*(7.5625*(t-=(1.5/2.75))t + .75) + b; } else if (t < (2.5/2.75)) { return c(7.5625*(t-=(2.25/2.75))t + .9375) + b; } else { return c(7.5625*(t-=(2.625/2.75))*t + .984375) + b; } }

  • Is correct name enough to make it happen?

    - by Knowing me knowing you
    Guys, I've just dipped in to limits.h by MS. I tried to check what's the return type for max() fnc and to my surprise I see something like this: // TEMPLATE CLASS numeric_limits template<class _Ty> class numeric_limits : public _Num_base { // numeric limits for arbitrary type _Ty (say little or nothing) public: static _Ty (__CRTDECL min)() _THROW0() { // return minimum value return (_Ty(0)); } static _Ty (__CRTDECL max)() _THROW0() { // return maximum value return (_Ty(0));//EXACTLY THE SAME WHAT IN min<<------------------ } //... other stuff }; so how is it possiple that in both min and max return does exactly the same? So does it mean if I would write makeSanwich() return (_Ty(0)) it would make a sandwich for me? How is it possible that having this same code just fnc names different we are getting different results?

  • New &lt;%: %&gt; Syntax for HTML Encoding Output in ASP.NET 4 (and ASP.NET MVC 2)

    [In addition to blogging, I am also now using Twitter for quick updates and to share links. Follow me at: twitter.com/scottgu] This is the nineteenth in a series of blog posts Im doing on the upcoming VS 2010 and .NET 4 release. Todays post covers a small, but very useful, new syntax feature being introduced with ASP.NET 4 which is the ability to automatically HTML encode output within code nuggets.  This helps protect your applications and sites against cross-site script injection...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? We already have over 80 articles in several categories including Silverlight. Take a look: here.

  • How to get latest files in C#

    - by Newbie
    I have some files with same name but with different dates. Basically we are finding the files with most recent dates The file patterns are <FileNames><YYYYMMDD><FileExtension> e.g. test_20100506.xls indicates <FileNames> = test_ <YYYYMMDD> = 20100506 <FileExtension> = .xls Now in the source folder, the files are standardization_20100503.xls, standardization_20100504.xls, standardization_20100305.xls, replacement_20100505.xls As can be seen that, standardization_.xls are 3 in numbers but replacement_.xls is only 1. The output will be a list of file names whose content will be standardization_20100504.xls and replacement_20100505.xls Because among all the standardization_.xls is the most recent one and replacement_.xls is also the same. I have tried with my own logic but somehow failed. My idea is as under private static void GetLatestFiles(ref List<FileInfo> validFiles) { List<FileInfo> validFilesTemp = new List<FileInfo>(); for (int i = 0; i < validFiles.Count; i++) { for (int j = i+1; j < validFiles.Count; j++) { string getFileTextX = ExtractText(validFiles[i].Name); string getFileTextY = ExtractText(validFiles[j].Name); if (getFileTextX == getFileTextY) { int getFileDatesX = Convert.ToInt32(ExtractNumbers(validFiles[i].Name)); int getFileDatesY = Convert.ToInt32(ExtractNumbers(validFiles[j].Name)); if (getFileDatesX > getFileDatesY) { validFilesTemp.Add(validFiles[i]); } else { validFilesTemp.Add(validFiles[j]); } } } } validFiles.Clear(); validFiles = validFilesTemp; } The ExtractNumbers is: public static string ExtractNumbers(string expr) { return string.Join(null, System.Text.RegularExpressions.Regex.Split(expr, "[^\\d]")); } and the ExtractText is public static string ExtractText(string expr) { return string.Join(null, System.Text.RegularExpressions.Regex.Split(expr, "[\\d]")); } I am using c#3.0 and framework 3.5 Help needed .. it's very urgent Thanks .

  • Is it possible for a Grails Domain to have no 'id'?

    - by firnnauriel
    Is it possible to create a table that has no 'id'? For example, this is my domain: class SnbrActVector { int nid String term double weight static mapping = { version false id generator: 'identity' } static constraints = { } } When I run this SQL statement, it fails: insert into snbr_act_vector values (5, 'term', 0.5) I checked the table and 'id' is already set to autoincrement. I'm thinking that another option is to remove the 'id' itself. Or is there another workaround for this? Please assume that it is not an option to change the givent SQL statement.

  • Simple Java math operations

    - by user1730056
    I'm making a BMI calculator that doesn't seem to be working. The math operations work if i just do something like w/h, but once i had the brackets, it returns an error. If i change the variables w and h and use a constant number, the operation works. Another problem is that although i'm making result a double, it seems to be rounding to the nearest int. Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? public class ass10 { public static void main(String[] args) { bmi(223,100); } public static bmi(int w, int h){ double result; result = (w/(h*h))*703 System.out.println(result) } }

  • What is meant by namespaced content and what advantages does it have?

    - by Geek
    I was reading this blog by James Bennett regarding HTML vs XHTML . He writes : I don’t have any need for namespaced content; I’m not displaying any complex mathematical notation here and don’t plan to, and I don’t use SVG for any images. So that’s one advantage of XHTML out the window. I also don’t have any need for XML tools; all the processing I need to do can be handled by HTML-parsing libraries like BeautifulSoup. That’s the other advantage gone. What does he mean by namespaced content and what advantage does it provide us ?

  • Use of class definitions inside a method in Java

    - by Bragaadeesh
    Hi public class TestClass { public static void main(String[] args) { TestClass t = new TestClass(); } private static void testMethod(){ class TestMethodClass{ int a; int b; int c; } TestMethodClass testMethodClass = new TestMethodClass(); } } I found out that the above piece of code is perfectly legal in Java. I have the following questions. What is the use of ever having a class definition inside a method? Will a class file be generated for TestMethodClass Its hard for me to imagine this concept in an Object Oriented manner. Having a class definition inside a behavior. Probably can someone tell me with equivalent real world examples. Thanks

  • Class Template Instantiation: any way round this circular reference?

    - by TimYorke34
    I have two classes that I'm using to represent some hardware: A Button and an InputPin class which represent a button that will change the value of an IC's input pin when it's pressed down. A simple example of them is: template <int pinNumber> class InputPin { static bool IsHigh() { return ( (*portAddress) & (1<<pinNumber) ); } }; template <typename InputPin> class Button { static bool IsPressed() { return !InputPin::IsHigh(); } }; This works beautifully and by using class templates, the condition below will compile as tightly as if I'd handwritten it in assembly (a single instruction). Button < InputPin<1> > powerButton; if (powerButton.IsPressed()) ........; However, I am extending it to deal with interrupts and have got a problem with circular references. Compared to the original InputPin, a new InputPinIRQ class has an extra static member function that will be called automatically by the hardware when the pin value changes. I'd like it to be able to notify the Button class of this, so that the Button class can then notify the main application that it has been pressed/released. I am currently doing this with function pointers to callbacks. In order for the callback code to be inlined by the compiler, I need to pass the function pointers as template parameters. So now, both of the new classes have an extra template parameter that is a pointer to a callback function. Unfortunately this gives me a circular reference because to instantiate a ButtonIRQ class I now have to do something like this: ButtonIRQ< InputPinIRQ< A1, ButtonIRQ<....>::OnPinChange, OnButtonChange > pB; where the <...... represents the circular reference. Does anyone know how I can avoid this circular reference? I am new to templates, so might be missing something really simple. It's important that the compiler knows exactly what code will be run when the interrupt occurs as it then does some very useful optimisation - it is able to inline the callback function and literally inserts the callback function's code at the exact address that is called on a h/w interrupt.

  • GAE app.yaml appears to be inconsistently routing requests

    - by kamens
    I have the following in app.yaml: - url: /gae_mini_profiler/static static_dir: gae_mini_profiler/static - url: /gae_mini_profiler/.* script: gae_mini_profiler/main.py - url: .* script: main.py and the following in gae_mini_profiler/main.py: def main(): logging.critical("gae_mini_profiler request!") run_wsgi_app(application) However, when I fire requests to, say, /gae_mini_profiler/request?request=ABC, and repeatedly reload the page, sometimes I will get the proper response (as well as a "gae_mini_profiler request!" log entry, and sometimes I get a blank response and nothing in the App Engine logs other than a 200 with an empty response body. This is completely reproducible, only happens in the live environment, and I'd say ~50% of the refreshes work while 50% do not. This only happens in production. Any ideas?

  • How to code the set method of a Map with another Map as value?

    - by Nazgulled
    I normally do this to set a new Map to a private variable: public static void setListaClausulas(Map<String, Clausula> nvLista) { listaClausulas = new TreeMap<String, Clausula>(nvLista); } I suppose this is ok to set a new copy of the nvLista and all it's members and not a reference, is it? But now I have a Map inside another Map and I'm doing this: public static void setListaClausulas(Map<String, Map<String, Clausula>> nvLista) { listaClausulas = new TreeMap<String, Map<String, Clausula>>(nvLista); } Is this the correct way to do it or do you recommend something else? What I want is to set a new copy of nvLista (and all it's elements) and not copy just the reference.

  • VB6 Require some help with looping

    - by k80sg
    Hi, I am trying to convert a source from C++ to vb6: C++: static double mdArray[3][3]; static double mdArray2[3][3]; for (i = 0; i < 3; i++) for (j = 0; j < 3; j++) { double sum = 0; for(k = 0; k < 3; k++) sum = sum + mdArray[k][i] * mdArray[k][k]; mdArray2[i][j] = sum } VB6: dim mdArray(0 to 2, 0 to 2) as integer dim mdArray2(0 to 2, 0 to 2) as integer for i = 0 to 2 for j = 0 to 2 dim a as double sum = 0 for k = 0 to 2 sum = sum + mdArray(k,i) * mdArray(k,j) mdArray2(i,j) = sum Next Next Next Will the vb6 version yield the same result as the C++ version? Thanks.

  • Authenticating model - best practices

    - by zerkms
    I come into ASP.NET from php so the reason why i ask my question is because it's totally different nature of how application works and handles requests. well, i have an exists table with user creditians, such as: id, login, password (sha hashed), email, phone, room i have built custom membership provider so it can handle my own database authentication schema. and now i'm confused, because User.Identity.Name contains only user's login, but not the complete object (i'm using linq2sql to communicate with database and i need in it's User object to work). at php applications i just store user object at some static method at Auth class (or some another), but here at ASP.NET MVC i cannot do this, because static member is shared across all requests and permanent, and not lives within only current request (as it was at php). so my question is: how and where should i retrieve and store linq2sql user object to work with it within current and only current request? (after request processed successfully i expect it will be disposed from memory and on next request will be created again). or i'm following totally wrong way?

  • List with items returns empty

  • XAML Binding to property

    - by imslavko
    I have check box in my XAML+C# Windows Store application. Also I have bool property: WindowsStoreTestApp.SessionData.RememberUser which is public and static. I want check box's property IsChecked to be consistent (or binded, or mapped) to this bool property. I tried this: XAML <CheckBox x:Name="chbRemember1" IsChecked="{Binding Mode=TwoWay}"/> C# chbRemember1.DataContext = SessionData.RememberUser; Code for property: namespace WindowsStoreTestApp { public class SessionData { public static bool RememberUser { get; set; } } } But it doesn't seem to work. Can you help me?

  • Why do we need a private constructor?

    - by isthatacode
    if a class has a private constructor then it cant be instantiated. so, if i dont want my class to be instantiated and still use it, then i can make it static. what is the use of a private constructor ? Also its used in singleton class, except that, is there any othe use ? (Note : The reason i am excuding the singleton case above is because I dont understand why do we need a singleton at all ? when there is a static class availble. You may not answer for my this confusion in the question. )

  • C# compiler fails to recognize a class is implementing an interface

    - by Freek
    The following code fails to compile (using VS2010) and I don't see why. The compiler should be able to infer that List is 'compatible' (sorry for lack of a better word) with IEnumerable, but somehow it doesn't. What am I missing here? interface ITest { void Test(); } class TestClass : ITest { public void Test() { } } class Program { static void Test(IEnumerable<ITest> tests) { foreach(var t in tests) { Console.WriteLine(t); } } static void Main(string[] args) { var lst = new List<TestClass>(); Test(lst); // fails, why? Test(lst.Select(t=>t as ITest)); //success Test(lst.ToArray()); // success } }

  • Convert project without introducing bugs

    - by didietexas
    I have the C++ code of a exe which contains a UI and some process. My goal is to remove the UI so that I only have the process and to convert the exe into a dll. In order to do that, I am thinking of generating unit test before touching any code and then to do my modification and make sure the tests are not failing. The problem is that I am not sure if this is the best approach and if it is, is there a way to automatically generate unit test. BTW, I am using VS 2012. Do you have any guidance for me?

  • What is/are the Scala way(s) to implement this Java "byte[] to Hex" class

    - by nicerobot
    I'm specifically interested in Scala (2.8) techniques for building strings with formats as well as interesting ways to make such a capability easily accessible where it's useful (lists of bytes, String, ...?).. public class Hex { public static String valueOf (final byte buf[]) { if (null == buf) { return null; } final StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(buf.length * 2); for (final byte b : buf) { sb.append(String.format("%02X", b & 0xff)); } return sb.toString(); } public static String valueOf (final Byteable o) { return valueOf(o.toByteArray()); } } This is only a learning exercise (so the utility and implementation of the Java isn't a concern.) Thanks

  • Is there a way to have a dynamic google map that opens links in _blank?

    - by danieltalsky
    I came up with a good solution for a client showing a google map iFrame using the normal google maps embed. Only problem? They want the links inside the iFrame to open in a new window instead of there on the page. So, I used the static API to come up with a static image of a map and have that link to the google maps site with target="_blank". Great, but they don't get the pretty draggable map. Is there a way to do what I want using the google maps API? I'm reading the API documentation but without actually trying it I'm not sure if it can be done, and would love it if someone with some experience with the API can point me in the right direction or just tell me why it's WAY not worth the effort.
