  • Web hosting a setup where both Windows and Linux are required

    I have a system where a website needs to be hosted on a Linux machine while a backend application that the site talks to needs to reside on Windows. Is there any "common practice" for such hosting? Note - both of the systems are mine so there is the dilemma of whether to have the machines physically located together to avoid delay for calls over the net.

  • What is a good program for storing “chunks” of commonly used source code

    I've looked at CodeLocker (poorly styled and relatively unflexible, but free) and Source Code Library (Overzone software - very nicely styled, looks flexible, but very expensive - $80). Ideally, I'm looking for a relatively simple, inexpensive program (not an online website) that I can save text data (source code) with a title and keywords, maybe even a description. It would also have some type of search functionality.

  • php $_SESSION[document_root] too far down the tree

    Hi, I have multiple sub-domains within the document_root. And multiple folders/classes within those sub-domain folders. I need something that will help me with my include_once paths, but $_SESSION[DOCUMENT_ROOT] goes too far down. And if I were to use this, and transfer the website folder later, all my include_once paths will/might break. Hope my question is clear... Any recommendations?

    Within my Website project, I have some aspx pages, javascript files, and a custom C# class I called MyCustomReport. I placed a Image box with an ID of Image1 inside SelectionReport.aspx.   • Tumblr - Custom Domain Help.

    I own the domain name, iamgabeaudick.com. It was my personal website, but I now want to use it as my tumblr domain. I've changed the DNS, and tumblr confirms that the domain is set up correctly. But when I access iamgabeaudick.com, a blank "Index of /" page appears. Any ideas why this is? Do I need to configure the ftp files in some way?

It's because i'd like to manage a website (php & html) with git and i'm looking for an easy way to update the files in the htdocs folder from the repository, without having the repository public.   • Is the W3 standard a major factor when google decides SERP position?

I have tried checking major websites like ebay, stackoverflow and others also, all with around 400 errors. So my first thought is, what good is that validator when it always displays errors?   • What's the simplest and most robust way to have constant-height submit button with rounded corners?

    Constant height so just left/right images should be necessary instead of having 4+, right? I'd still want top-to-bottom color gradient (and different one on hover). If possible, I'd prefer if it was still an <input type='submit'> and not anything weird. Is there any way (website / imagemagick script etc.) to generate these images automatically or do I need to draw them in some graphics program?

    I have this snippet RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|images|img|css|js|robots\.txt) RewriteRule (.*) index.php?/$1 [L] It won't allow me to access a file at website.com/js/main.php but it will let me access index.php According to my webhost, $1 is being called before it is set. Any solutions? I'll accept answers when i get back tomorrow. Thank you!

  • Divs not aligning side by side

    I've been learning about divs over the past few months, and am now able to align divs side by side. However, today I was working on my website, and my divs suddenly stopped lining up. The divs in question are: #dorsey_left, #dorsey_middle and #dorsey_right. When I remove #dorsey_left from the HTML document, #dorsey_middle and #dorsey_right align properly. I'm guessing that the problem is related to #dorsey_left, but I can't find anything in the code. This is the JsFiddle.

The tabs widget looks like it could be useful for my menu, however i want to know if theres a way to load a specific tab dynamically.
