  • Why MKMapView region is different than requested?

    - by Kamil
Greetings! I'm saving map region into user defaults when my iPhone app is closing like this: MKCoordinateRegion region = mapView.region; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setDouble:region.center.latitude forKey:@"map.location.center.latitude"]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setDouble:region.center.longitude forKey:@"map.location.center.longitude"]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setDouble:region.span.latitudeDelta forKey:@"map.location.span.latitude"]; [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setDouble:region.span.longitudeDelta forKey:@"map.location.span.longitude"]; When app launches again, i read those values back the same way, so that the user can see exactly the same map view as it was last time: MKCoordinateRegion region; region.center.latitude = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] doubleForKey:@"map.location.center.latitude"]; region.center.longitude = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] doubleForKey:@"map.location.center.longitude"]; region.span.latitudeDelta = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] doubleForKey:@"map.location.span.latitude"]; region.span.longitudeDelta = [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] doubleForKey:@"map.location.span.longitude"]; NSLog([NSString stringWithFormat:@"Region read : %f %f %f %f", region.center.latitude, region.center.longitude, region.span.latitudeDelta, region.span.longitudeDelta]); [mapView setRegion:region]; NSLog([NSString stringWithFormat:@"Region on map: %f %f %f %f", mapView.region.center.latitude, mapView.region.center.longitude, mapView.region.span.latitudeDelta, mapView.region.span.longitudeDelta]); The region I read from user defaults is (not surprisingly) exactly the same as when it was saved. Notice that what is saved comes directly from the map, so it's not transformed in any way. I set it back on map with setRegion: method, but then it is different! Example results: Region read : 50.241110 8.891555 0.035683 0.042915 Region on map: 50.241057 8.891544 0.050499 0.054932 Does anybody know why this happens?

  • Reference Error for property of Javascript Object

    - by Jeremy Petzold
I have built an object in Javascript on the Google Apps Script engine and every time I run my script I get a reference error saying uName is not defined. Here is the relivant code: function DataSet() { this.uName = ""; this.dFeild = ""; this.qUrl = "http://api.bfbcs.com/api/pc?players="+uName+"&fields="+dFeilds; this.data = ""; this.dQuery = dQuery; this.execQuery = execQuery; According to all sources I have found, I should not need to use the keyword var, and when I do include that, it throws other errors. What could be going on? Thanks

  • How do I SEO these keywords?

    - by alex
I am building a music album search engine. My questions are: How do I figure out which keywords people search the most? Do they search "music album" the most, or "album music" the most? What tool can I use to get this stats? Should I position my website to what people search the most? What about competitors? Please give me some tips on whether I should have the title "music album" or "album search" , depending on number of keyword searches.

  • Where in the user profile are the Firefox search engine choices stored?

    - by N Rahl
We have a large number of user profiles that were created on Ubuntu 10.04 and they had access to Google as a choice in the search bar and Google was the provider for queries typed into the super bar. When logging into these same profiles from Mint 15 client machines, the Google search option does not exist for these users, as is the default for Mint. This setting seems to be user specific, but not a part of the FireFox profile? It seems if it were a part of the FF profile, it would "just work" on Mint for these profiles, so I suspect the configuration may be stored somewhere else in the user's profile? Could someone please tell me where in a user's profile the search engine options are set? We would like to set this once, and then drop this configuration into everyones profile so all of our users don't have to do this manually.

  • Is there any descent open-source search engine solutions?

    - by Nazariy
Few weeks ago my friend asked me how hard is it to launch your own search engine service with list of websites that suppose to be crawled time to time. First what come at my mind was Google Custom Search however pricing policy is quite tricky and would drain your budget if you reach 500K queries per year. Another solution I found here was SearchBlox, which can be compared to Google Mini service. It's quite good solution if you planing to cover search over small amount of websites but for larger projects it is not very handy. I also found few other search platforms like Lucene, Hadoop and Xapian which seems to be quite powerful solutions to reach Google search quality, and Nutch as a web crawler. As most of open-source projects they share same problem, luck of comprehensive guidance of usage, examples and it's expected that you are expert in this subject. I'm wondering if any of you using this solutions, which of them would you recommend, and what should I be aware of?

  • How to have PHP and mod_wsgi python app on the same domain?

    - by Lazik
I am using apache with mod_wsgi (python3) on ubuntu 12.04. I have a python app (bottle) which is at www.mysite.com/ In my python app I have routes like www.mysite.com/abbb?q=blab I would like a path www.mysite.com/forum to resolve to a php app (simple machine forums) Ideally I would like to use apache to handle the forum part and pass it to php (instead of coding it in the python app). Don't know if it's possible. I'm new to this, I have read https://code.google.com/p/modwsgi/wiki/ConfigurationGuidelines#The_Apache_Alias_Directive but I don't understand how to use it. Here is my apache conf for the mod_wsgi app, I don't know how to specify the PHP portion. <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.ex.com ServerAlias ex.com *.ex.com RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}$1 [R=301,L] WSGIDaemonProcess ex user=www-data group=www-data processes=1 threads=5 WSGIScriptAlias / /var/www/vhosts/ex/app.wsgi <Directory /var/www/vhosts/ex> WSGIProcessGroup ex WSGIApplicationGroup %{GLOBAL} Order deny, allow Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost>

  • Flexible cloud file storage for a web.py app?

    - by benwad
I'm creating a web app using web.py (although I may later rewrite it for Tornado) which involves a lot of file manipulation. One example, the app will have a git-style 'commit' operation, in which some files are sent to the server and placed in a new folder along with the unchanged files from the last version. This will involve copying the old folder to the new folder, replacing/adding/deleting the files in the commit to the new folder, then deleting all unchanged files in the old folder (as they are now in the new folder). I've decided on Heroku for the app hosting environment, and I am currently looking at cloud storage options that are built with these kinds of operations in mind. I was thinking of Amazon S3, however I'm not sure if that lets you carry out these kinds of file operations in-place. I was thinking I may have to load these files into the server's RAM and then re-insert them into the bucket, costing me a fortune. I was also thinking of Progstr Filer (http://filer.progstr.com/index.html) but that seems to only integrate with Rails apps. Can anyone help with this? Basically I want file operations to be as cheap as possible.

  • Iphone/Android app – chatroom development – what framework & hosting needs?

    - by MikaelW
I have some experience regarding IPhone and Android development but I am now struggling to solve a new class of problem: apps that involve a client/server chatroom feature. That is, an app when people can exchange text over the internet, and without having the app to constantly “pull” content from the server. So that problem can’t be solved with a normal php/mysql website, there must be some kind of application running on a server that is able to send message from the server to the phone, rather than having the phone to check for new messages every 10 seconds… So I’m looking for ways to solve the different problems here: What framework should I use on the two sides (phone / server)? It should be some kind of library that doesn’t prevent me to write paid apps. It should also be possible to have the same server for the Iphone and android version of the app. What server / hosting solution do I need with what sort of features, I just have no experience regarding server application that can handle and initiate multiple connections and are hosted on hardware that is always online I tried to find resources online but couldn’t so far, either the libraries had the wrong kind of license/language or I just didn’t understand… Sometimes there were nice tutorial but for different needs such as peer2peer chat over local network… Same with the server and the hosting problem, not sure where to start really, I’m calling for help and I promise I will complete this page with notes about the experience I will get :-) Obviously the ideal would be to find a tutorial I missed that include client code, server code and a free scalable server… That being said, If I see something as good, it probably means that I have eaten the wrong kind of mushroom again… So, failing that, any pointer which might help me toward that quest, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Mikael

  • How to remove all associated files and configuration settings of an app installed through 'force architecture' command

    - by Mysterio
A few weeks ago I installed a 32 bit .deb file through the 'force architecture' command (on my 64bit notebook), however the procedure was unsuccessful and I used the apt-get purgecommand to uninstall the app. It seems there are some leftovers of the app I uninstalled which has now broken system update. Synaptic recommended a sudo apt-get install -fwhich I did in the terminal with this initial response: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following package was automatically installed and is no longer required: libntfs10 Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them. The following packages will be REMOVED: crossplatformui 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded. 1 not fully installed or removed. After this operation, 0 B of additional disk space will be used. Do you want to continue [Y/n]? I chose 'Y' then got this response: (Reading database ... 187616 files and directories currently installed.) Removing crossplatformui ... ztemtvcdromd: no process found dpkg: error processing crossplatformui (--remove): subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: crossplatformui E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) It seems the app I installed crossplatformuiis still on my system and has caused update manager to stop running with a partial upgrade warning. What do I do now?

  • How to force a page refresh or reload in jQuery?

    - by TimMac
The code below displays a google map and search results when you enter an address and hit the submit button. I've been playing with it to try and force the page to completely refresh or reload once you hit the submit button. But I can't get it to work right. It loads the results "in page," but I'd like the page to completely refresh when the results load, like when you hit the back button on your browser. Hope that makes sense. I think the answer lies in this line of code but I don't know jquery very well. It's near the bottom of the full code below. <script type="text/javascript"> (function($) { $(document).ready(function() { load();'; Here's the full code below. Any help would be greatly appreciated! <?php /* SimpleMap Plugin display-map.php: Displays the Google Map and search results */ $to_display = ''; if ($options['display_search'] == 'show') { $to_display .= ' <div id="map_search" style="width: '.$options['map_width'].';"> <a name="map_top"></a> <form onsubmit="searchLocations(\''.$categories.'\'); return false;" name="searchForm" id="searchForm" action="http://'.$_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'].$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'].'"> <input type="text" id="addressInput" name="addressInput" class="address" />&nbsp; <select name="radiusSelect" id="radiusSelect">'; $default_radius = $options['default_radius']; unset($selected_radius); $selected_radius[$default_radius] = ' selected="selected"'; foreach ($search_radii as $value) { $r = (int)$value; $to_display .= '<option valu e="'.$value.'"'.$selected_radius[$r].'>'.$value.' I've made 2 apps, App A and App B. App A's sole purpose is to allow users to sign up and App B's purpose is to take select users from App A email them. Since App A & B were created independently & are hosted in 2 separate Heroku instances, how can App B access the users database in App A? Is there a way to push certain relevant rows from App A to App B?

  • BlackBerry - Handle and translate messages (sms/email/pim/pin)?

    - by humble coffee
Does the native Blackberry API allow for the modification of any messaging interface? For example, I'd like to be able to build an app that added a button at the bottom of a received message which says 'translate this'. I've heard that this kind of thing is possible using J2ME plus the native BlackBerry API. Can this be done for all kinds of messages, eg SMS, email and BB messaging? The translation aspect is not relevant, it just provides the context for the kind of feature I'm after.

  • Learning AngularJS by Example – The Customer Manager Application

    - by dwahlin
I’m always tinkering around with different ideas and toward the beginning of 2013 decided to build a sample application using AngularJS that I call Customer Manager. It’s not exactly the most creative name or concept, but I wanted to build something that highlighted a lot of the different features offered by AngularJS and how they could be used together to build a full-featured app. One of the goals of the application was to ensure that it was approachable by people new to Angular since I’ve never found overly complex applications great for learning new concepts. The application initially started out small and was used in my AngularJS in 60-ish Minutes video on YouTube but has gradually had more and more features added to it and will continue to be enhanced over time. It’ll be used in a new “end-to-end” training course my company is working on for AngularjS as well as in some video courses that will be coming out. Here’s a quick look at what the application home page looks like: In this post I’m going to provide an overview about how the application is organized, back-end options that are available, and some of the features it demonstrates. I’ve already written about some of the features so if you’re interested check out the following posts: Building an AngularJS Modal Service Building a Custom AngularJS Unique Value Directive Using an AngularJS Factory to Interact with a RESTful Service Application Structure The structure of the application is shown to the right. The  homepage is index.html and is located at the root of the application folder. It defines where application views will be loaded using the ng-view directive and includes script references to AngularJS, AngularJS routing and animation scripts, plus a few others located in the Scripts folder and to custom application scripts located in the app folder. The app folder contains all of the key scripts used in the application. There are several techniques that can be used for organizing script files but after experimenting with several of them I decided that I prefer things in folders such as controllers, views, services, etc. Doing that helps me find things a lot faster and allows me to categorize files (such as controllers) by functionality. My recommendation is to go with whatever works best for you. Anyone who says, “You’re doing it wrong!” should be ignored. Contrary to what some people think, there is no “one right way” to organize scripts and other files. As long as the scripts make it down to the client properly (you’ll likely minify and concatenate them anyway to reduce bandwidth and minimize HTTP calls), the way you organize them is completely up to you. Here’s what I ended up doing for this application: Animation code for some custom animations is located in the animations folder. In addition to AngularJS animations (which are defined using CSS in Content/animations.css), it also animates the initial customer data load using a 3rd party script called GreenSock. Controllers are located in the controllers folder. Some of the controllers are placed in subfolders based upon the their functionality while others are placed at the root of the controllers folder since they’re more generic:   The directives folder contains the custom directives created for the application. The filters folder contains the custom filters created for the application that filter city/state and product information. The partials folder contains partial views. This includes things like modal dialogs used in the application. The services folder contains AngularJS factories and services used for various purposes in the application. Most of the scripts in this folder provide data functionality. The views folder contains the different views used in the application. Like the controllers folder, the views are organized into subfolders based on their functionality:   Back-End Services The Customer Manager application (grab it from Github) provides two different options on the back-end including ASP.NET Web API and Node.js. The ASP.NET Web API back-end uses Entity Framework for data access and stores data in SQL Server (LocalDb). The other option on the back-end is Node.js, Express, and MongoDB.   Using the ASP.NET Web API Back-End To run the application using ASP.NET Web API/SQL Server back-end open the .sln file at the root of the project in Visual Studio 2012 or higher (the free Express 2013 for Web version is fine). Press F5 and a browser will automatically launch and display the application. Using the Node.js Back-End To run the application using the Node.js/MongoDB back-end follow these steps: In the CustomerManager directory execute 'npm install' to install Express, MongoDB and Mongoose (package.json). Load sample data into MongoDB by performing the following steps: Execute 'mongod' to start the MongoDB daemon Navigate to the CustomerManager directory (the one that has initMongoCustData.js in it) then execute 'mongo' to start the MongoDB shell Enter the following in the mongo shell to load the seed files that handle seeding the database with initial data: use custmgr load("initMongoCustData.js") load("initMongoSettingsData.js") load("initMongoStateData.js") Start the Node/Express server by navigating to the CustomerManager/server directory and executing 'node app.js' View the application at http://localhost:3000 in your browser. Key Features The Customer Manager application certainly doesn’t cover every feature provided by AngularJS (as mentioned the intent was to keep it as simple as possible) but does provide insight into several key areas: Using factories and services as re-useable data services (see the app/services folder) Creating custom directives (see the app/directives folder) Custom paging (see app/views/customers/customers.html and app/controllers/customers/customersController.js) Custom filters (see app/filters) Showing custom modal dialogs with a re-useable service (see app/services/modalService.js) Making Ajax calls using a factory (see app/services/customersService.js) Using Breeze to retrieve and work with data (see app/services/customersBreezeService.js). Switch the application to use the Breeze factory by opening app/services.config.js and changing the useBreeze property to true. Intercepting HTTP requests to display a custom overlay during Ajax calls (see app/directives/wcOverlay.js) Custom animations using the GreenSock library (see app/animations/listAnimations.js) Creating custom AngularJS animations using CSS (see Content/animations.css) JavaScript patterns for defining controllers, services/factories, directives, filters, and more (see any JavaScript file in the app folder) Card View and List View display of data (see app/views/customers/customers.html and app/controllers/customers/customersController.js) Using AngularJS validation functionality (see app/views/customerEdit.html, app/controllers/customerEditController.js, and app/directives/wcUnique.js) More… Conclusion I’ll be enhancing the application even more over time and welcome contributions as well. Tony Quinn contributed the initial Node.js/MongoDB code which is very cool to have as a back-end option. Access the standard application here and a version that has custom routing in it here. Additional information about the custom routing can be found in this post.

    - by Cyril N.
My server distribute two main websites, says : www.google.com & www.facebook.com (yeah I know :p) I want them to be distributed via https. Using Apache, I defined a vhost file in sites-available/enabled containing this : <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName google.com Redirect / https://www.google.com/ </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName facebook.com Redirect / https://www.facebook.com/ </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /srv/www/google/www/ ServerName www.google.com ServerAlias www.facebook.com <Directory ... /> # Google & Facebook points to the same directory (crazy right ?) # Next of the config </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:443> SSLEngine On SSLCertificateFile /path/to/google.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /path/to/google.key DocumentRoot "/srv/www/google/www/" ServerName www.google.com <Directory .../> # Next of the config </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:443> SSLEngine On SSLCertificateFile /path/to/facebook.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /path/to/facebook.key DocumentRoot "/srv/www/google/www/" ServerName www.facebook.com <Directory .../> # Next of the config </VirtualHost> If I access to https://www.google.com, the httpS works correctly If I access to https://www.facebook.com, the httpS works correctly. If I access to http://www.google.com, the http works correctly # Without https ! If I access to http://www.facebook.com, the http works correctly # Without https ! BUT : If I access to https://facebook.com, it fails saying that the SSL connection is not what expected : Google.com instead of facebook.com Based on my configuration file, I understand why, so I tried to add : <VirtualHost *:443> SSLEngine On ServerName facebook.com Redirect / https://www.facebook.com/ </VirtualHost> But then, I can't even access facebook.com nor www.facebook.com via http/https. So my question is quite simple : how can I redirect all https access to facebook.com (and eventually all sub facebooks : facebook.fr, www.facebook.fr, etc) to www.facebook.com (redirecting to www domain) in HTTPS ? Thanks for your help ! :)

  • unzip strings in javascript

    - by sopppas
anyone knows a simple JS library implementing the UNZIP algorithm? No disk-file access, only zip and unzip a string of values. there are ActiveX, using WinZIP and other client dependent software for ZIP, written in JS. but no pure algorithm implementation, is it really difficult or non-functional? i would use it for displaying KMZ files in a HTML page with the GMap object (google maps). The KMZ file is just a zipped KML file. I want to unzip a KMZ file and feed the KML to GMap.

  • CSS margin collapsing?

    - by Seth P
I'm working with Google Chrome on OS X, and I seem to be running into a margin collapse issue. I have two divs stacked on top of each other, both with a margin-top of 2px and a margin-bottom of 5px, and both with a 1px border. According to my arithmetic, there should be 1+1+2+5=7px of space between the "content" areas of the divs, since the border prevents the margins from collapsing? More confusing is that, in a location where I have a div with a 3px border and a 0 margin-top underneath one of the previously described divs, I end up with 9px of space (as I so dearly desire). The only difference between the divs is the additional class that shrinks the border and redefines the margins, so both divs have the same padding (only padding-bottom is 0). Can anyone point out where I've gone wrong?

  • Calling CONTENT_SCRIPT JS From BROWSER_ACTION Popup HTML

    - by Aristotle
I'm working on a Google Chrome Extension and would like to get an HTML from within my popup HTML to call functions within my loaded javascript file. My manifest follows: { "name": "Extension", "version": "1.0", "description": "Extension", "browser_action": { "default_icon": "icon.png", "default_title": "Ext", "popup": "popup.html" }, "content_scripts": [{ "matches": ["http://*/*"], "css": ["ext.css"], "js": ["jquery.js","scripts.js"] }], "permissions": [ "http://*/*" ] } As you can see I'm loading in a local copy of jQuery, along with another javascript file for my own personal logic. My popup document looks like this: <select id="values"> <option>Foo</option> <option>Bar</option> </select> And the contents of my scripts.js file follow: $(function(){ $("#values").change(function(){ alert("Foo"); }); }); This isn't doing what I expect though - alerting "Foo" anytime I change a value in my popup HTML. How can I get these two files to communicate with eachother? Or can they at all?
