  • Basic javascript function

    - by McDan Garrett
I have this function working <script type="text/javascript"> $(window).scroll(function() { if ($(window).scrollTop() == $(document).height() - $(window).height()) { $('div#loadmoreajaxloader').show(); $.ajax({ url: "loadmore.php?wall=<?php echo $wall; ?>&lastid=" + $(".postitem:last").attr("id"), success: function(html) { if (html) { $("#postswrapper").append(html); $('div#loadmoreajaxloader').hide(); } else { $('div#loadmoreajaxloader').html('<center><font color="white">No more posts to show.</font></center>'); } } }); } }); </script> But I need to have the same stuff happening (on IOS Devices), but instead of it happening when the browser reaches the loadmoreajaxeloader div, I simply need it to happen on an onclick event on a link. Thanks heaps. Tried to add code but didn't format so here it is http://pastebin.com/p2VUqZff

I have added the following code to my SlickGrid table: grid.onClick = function(e, row, cell) { $("#cellDetails").html("Row = " + row + "\nColumn = " + cell); $("#cellDetails").css("top", e.pageY - $("#cellDetails").outerHeight()) .css("left", e.pageX) .show(); $("body").one("click", function() { $("#cellDetails").html("").hide(); }); return true; } If user clicks a cell, and then scrolls the table down, the cell details box still appears. • How to force positioned elements to stay withing viewable browser area?

    - by jessegavin
I have a script which inserts "popup" elements into the DOM. It sets their top and left css properties relative to mouse coordinates on a click event. It works great except that the height of these "popup" elements are variable and some of them extend beyond the viewable area of the browser window. I would like to avoid this. Here's what I have so far <script type="text/javascript"> $(function () { $("area").click(function (e) { e.preventDefault(); var offset = $(this).offset(); var relativeX = e.pageX - offset.left; var relativeY = e.pageY - offset.top; // 'responseText' is the "popup" HTML fragment $.get($(this).attr("href"), function (responseText) { $(responseText).css({ top: relativeY, left: relativeX }).appendTo("#territories"); // Need to be able to determine // viewable area width and height // so that I can check if the "popup" // extends beyond. $(".popup .close").click(function () { $(this).closest(".popup").remove(); }); }); }); }); </script>

  • Combine and compress script files in asp.net mvc

    - by victor_foster
I am working in Visual Studio 2008, IIS7 and using asp.net MVC. I would like to know the best way to combine all of my Javascript files into one file to reduce the number of HTTP requests to the server. I have seen many articles on this subject but I'm not sure which one I should look at first (many of them are over a year old). Here are the things I would like to do: Combine my Javascript and css files Safely compress my Javascript files when I publish, but keep them uncompressed while I am debugging Cache my Css and Javascript files but allow them to refreshed with a hard refresh when they are updated without having to rename them.

  • I have the CSS & JS, how do I convert that to erb for my Rails app?

    - by marcamillion
So I have the foundation of my Rails app, then I went ahead and did the JS and CSS. How do I then take the CSS and JS that I have, and apply it to the app in a 'Rails Way'. i.e. a dynamic way that works nicely. Can you give me some tutorials/articles/resources that I can read up to guide me, please? I have tried the Rails guides, but I find them a bit lacking. Any other good suggestions or tips that might help get me on the right track? Thanks.

  • Behavior of local variables in JavaScripts with()-statement

    - by thr
I noticed some weird (and to my knowledge undefined behavior, by the ECMA 3.0 Spec at least), take the following snippet: var foo = { bar: "1", baz: "2" }; alert(bar); with(foo) { alert(bar); alert(bar); } alert(bar); It crashes in both Firefox and Chrome, because "bar" doesn't exist in the first alert(); statement, this is as expected. But if you add a declaration of bar inside the with()-statement, so it looks like this: var foo = { bar: "1", baz: "2" }; alert(bar); with(foo) { alert(bar); var bar = "g2"; alert(bar); } alert(bar); It will produce the following: undefined, 1, g2, undefined It seems as if you create a variable inside a with()-statement most browsers (tested on Chrome or Firefox) will make that variable exist outside that scope also, it's just set to undefined. Now from my perspective bar should only exist inside the with()-statement, and if you make the example even weirder: var foo = { bar: "1", baz: "2" }; var zoo; alert(bar); with(foo) { alert(bar); var bar = "g2"; zoo = function() { return bar; } alert(bar); } alert(bar); alert(zoo()); It will produce this: undefined, 1, g2, undefined, g2 So the bar inside the with()-statement does not exist outside of it, yet the runtime somehow "automagically" creates a variable named bar that is undefined in its top level scope (global or function) but this variable does not refer to the same one as inside the with()-statement, and that variable will only exist if a with()-statement has a variable named bar that is defined inside it. Very weird, and inconsistent. Anyone have an explanation for this behavior? There is nothing in the ECMA Spec about this.

  • prettyphoto and nivoslider

    - by Gabriel Ciprian Magda
I have added the nivoslider and prettyphoto lightbox to a page. What I am trying to do: when you click one of the nivoslider images, prettyphoto should load a video. Everything works ok, except that whenever the nivo slider is sliding the images, the video in prettyphoto lightbox is reloading. How can I prevent the video from reloading once the sliding images are changing? I am not a javascript nija but I am guessing it can be done with changepicturecallback: function(){} from prettyphoto...

  • Create a jQueryUI 1.8 Button menu

    - by Brian M. Hunt
Now that jQueryUI 1.8 is out, I was browsing through the updates and came across the new Button widget, and in particular one of the demos with the SplitButton with a dropdown. This demo seems to suggest that the Button widget could be used to create a dropdown menu here. As a matter of discussion, I was wondering what ways there are to go about creating a dropdown menu with this new Button widget. Cheers.

  • More efficient comparison of numbers

    - by Pez Cuckow
I have an array which is part of a small JS game I am working on I need to check (as often as reasonable) that each of the elements in the array haven't left the "stage" or "playground", so I can remove them and save the script load I have coded the below and was wondering if anyone knew a faster/more efficient way to calculate this. This is run every 50ms (it deals with the movement). Where bots[i][1] is movement in X and bots[i][2] is movement in Y (mutually exclusive). for (var i in bots) { var left = parseInt($("#" + i).css("left")); var top = parseInt($("#" + i).css("top")); var nextleft = left + bots[i][1]; var nexttop = top + bots[i][2]; if(bots[i][1]>0&&nextleft>=PLAYGROUND_WIDTH) { remove_bot(i); } else if(bots[i][1]<0&&nextleft<=-GRID_SIZE) { remove_bot(i); } else if(bots[i][2]>0&&nexttop>=PLAYGROUND_HEIGHT) { remove_bot(i); } else if(bots[i][2]<0&&nexttop<=-GRID_SIZE) { remove_bot(i); } else { //alert(nextleft + ":" + nexttop); $("#" + i).css("left", ""+(nextleft)+"px"); $("#" + i).css("top", ""+(nexttop)+"px"); } } On a similar note the remove_bot(i); function is as below, is this correct (I can't splice as it changes all the ID's of the elements in the array. function remove_bot(i) { $("#" + i).remove(); bots[i] = false; } Many thanks for any advice given!

  • Async data loading with WCF service with UI capabilities

    - by Jojo
I'm working on complex user control(with Telerik components). I'm trying to implement following functionality: Typing some text in RadTextBox(let say: "Hello.txt"). Clicking on Button "Check". onClientClick for button "Check" will call WCF method with parameters. Let say that this request/response will take more that 10 seconds, meanwhile I'll see loading image near TextBox AND the most important, I can continue to work on other fields. When WCF service responses UI will be updated with the result. Thanks in advance

  • refreshing javascript by renaming src attribute

    - by Eric Fortis
I want to refresh the output of the script below. Is this json? Do I need to add a crossdomain policy in my site? <div id="nowplaying"> <script src="http://s4.total-streaming.com/xml.php?station=1269&get=js"></script> </div> Edit: This is what I'm trying based on @alexn advise, but still doesn't refresh. <div id="nowplaying"> <script id="nowplaying-script" src="http://s4.total-streaming.com/xml.php?station=1269&get=js"></script> <script> setInterval(function () { $('#nowplaying-script').attr('src', 'http://s4.total-streaming.com/xml.php?station=1269&get=js'); }, 1000); </script> </div> Note Firebug: Resource interpreted as script but transferred with MIME type text/html. xml.php:-1

  • What's the proper workaround for creating a div with a table in it with images in the table?

    - by Noor
    I want this: <div id="display"> <div id="slideshow1"> <table cellspacing=0><tr><td style="height:200px;padding:0;vertical-align:middle"> <img ... /> </td></tr></table> </div> </div> And I'm using this: var thelistt = localStorage.getItem('thelist') var trt = document.createElement("div"); trt.setAttribute("Id","slideshow1"); trt.className="pics"; $('#display').append(trt); var tble = document.createElement("table"); tble.setAttribute("cellspacing","0"); tble.innerHTML = "<tr><td style='height:200px;padding:0;vertical-align:middle'>"; $('#slideshow1').append(tble); trt.innerHTML += thelistt; This creates a div, then a table, closes the table, then images, then closes div.. Isn't there a smoother way to not do all this, if someone'd take a look at my current code i''m sure you'd get a good laugh : http://hem.bredband.net/noor/bildspelet3.html (you need to click on edit and put in two or more urls directly to images)

  • How can I add line breaks into my event title in json

    - by Ami Mahloof
one thing i can not get straight is the ability to add html without it being escaped or actually creating new lines here's my json: { "id": 30, "title": "Basics \n Awesome Abs & Butt Blast \n Danielle B", "start": "2010-05-11T08:00:00-04:00", "end": "2010-05-11T08:30:00-04:00", "allDay": false } and here's the code for it: [ <% @events.each do |e| % { "id": <%= e.id -%, "title": "<%= e.event_template.level %<%= e.monqi_class.title %<%= e.instructor.last_initial %", "start": "<%= e.start_date.iso8601 %", "end": "<%= e.end_date.iso8601 %", "allDay": false } <%= @events.last == e ? "" : "," % <% end -% ] so I am trying to have inside an even 3 lines, (level, class title, and instructor) the problem is it's getting escaped so the charcters are not being parsed by html can you please help me with that? Thanks a lot Ami

  • How can I emulate the ASP.NET Ajax UpdatePanel when using ASP.NET MVC?

    - by Gary McGill
In "traditional" ASP.NET (Web Forms), the UpdatePanel control lets you do a partial refresh of a part of a page. You don't need to write much code to hook this up. What's the equivalent in ASP.NET MVC? I'm guessing I'd need to use a partial view for the bit that I want to update, then on the client side retrieve that HTML and pump it into the innerHtml of the correct DIV? A tutorial/example would be helpful...

  • Wait until image loads before performing function

    - by Steven
I'm trying to create a simple portfolio page. I have a list of thumbs and an image. When you click on a thumb, the image will change. When a thumbnail is clicked, I'd like to have the image fade out, wait until the image is loaded, then fade back in. The problem I have right now is that some of the images are pretty big, so it fades out, then fades back in immediately, sometimes while the image is still loading. I'd like to avoid using setTimeout, since sometimes an image will load faster or slower than the time I set. Here's my code: $(function() { $('img#image').attr("src", $('ul#thumbs li:first img').attr("src")); $('ul#thumbs li img').click(function() { $('img#image').fadeOut(700); var src = $(this).attr("src"); $('img#image').attr("src", src); $('img#image').fadeIn(700); }); }); <img id="image" src="" alt="" /> <ul id="thumbs"> <li><img src="/images/thumb1.png" /></li> <li><img src="/images/thumb2.png" /></li> <li><img src="/images/thumb3.png" /></li> </ul>

  • Looping through Markers with Google Maps API v3 Problem

    - by Oscar Godson
I'm not sure why this isn't working. I don't have any errors, but what happens is, no matter what marker I click on, it clicks the 3rd one (which is the last one out of 4 markers. Array starts at 0, obviously) and shows the number "3", which is correct for THAT one, but I'm not clicking that one. Here is most of my code, just not the array of [place-name, coordinates] (var locations, which you will see): function initialize() { var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(45.522015,-122.683811); var settings = { zoom: 15, center: latlng, disableDefaultUI:true, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.SATELLITE }; var map = new google.maps.Map(document.getElementById("map_canvas"), settings); var infowindow = new Array(); var marker = new Array(); for(x in locations){ console.log(x); infowindow[x] = new google.maps.InfoWindow({content: x}); marker[x] = new google.maps.Marker({title:locations[x][0],map:map,position:locations[x][1]}); google.maps.event.addListener(marker[x], 'click', function() {infowindow[x].open(map, marker[x]);}); } } initialize() The console.log output is (its correct, and what i expect): 0 1 2 3 So, any ideas?

  • animate() not working for opacity in IE

    - by Karthik
I'm trying to animate a div from 100% opacity to 40% opacity WITHOUT using fadeTo(). I need to use animate(). It works fine in chrome/FF/safari, but in IE, the opacity doesn't animate, it simply changes to that after the animation is done. Happens in IE 7 and 8. I'm doing this: .animate({ width: new_width, top: new_top, left: new_left, padding: new_padding, opacity: 0.4, filter: "alpha(opacity=40)" }, ... it's just not animating the opacity. Any ideas?

  • Examples of mobile frameworks that support AdSense for mobile content ads?

    - by David Sky
I’ve tried, I really have, to find examples of serving up AdSense for mobile content ads in any of the popular mobile frameworks, but can’t find running webpages with ads, nor tutorials, etc.... I’ve done some iUI work, but would consider jQueryMobile, iWebKit, even sencha-touch if I could find an example that actually displays ads within the framework on an iPhone, iPod touch,etc... I realize there are issues with the HTML adSense generates, but hasn’t anyone found a work-around? Surely some mobile HTML sites must be serving up ads? Links to tutorials would be much appreciated!
