Win7-64:
This is my only midi device:
Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth, deviceid = 0.
Is there any way to tell if midi pitch bend is supported on this device?
Trying to know what is the best of my flash memories to use ReadyBoost I realize that I don't know how much of fast flash memory each of my flash drives have. One can read:
In some situations, you might not be able to use all of the memory on
your device to speed up your computer. For example, some flash memory
devices contain both slow and fast flash memory, but ReadyBoost can
only use fast flash memory to speed up your computer.

Hey everyone,
Im trying to transfer a file from a Windows 7 host running VMWare Server to a Windows 2003 server VM, and it's painfully slow.
I've tried adding/adjusting registry keys and settings found on KB articles, and still nothing.
Ive tried this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/898468
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1619
Vmware tools are installed.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Howdy,
I am working on a backup plan for TFS 2010. I found this site http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms253070(VS.100).aspx that details a complex backup solution.
Has anyone tested these procedures and can confirm they are accurate?
There are a couple of steps that violate the SharePoint rule "Do Not Modify the Database!"
Thank you,
Keith
Hi gurus
First, I thought that this was Vmware problem :
http://serverfault.com/questions/141838/vmware-problems-networking-no-packet-response
But now, after testing on several physical machines, I realized certain services didn't return response data when using socat/netcat 1.1 which is supposed to the latest version since last updated.

I found no problem with telnet.
I do not understand the following article profound.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175915(SQL.90).aspx
"In contrast, if a SQL Server user logs on by using Windows Authentication, the user can read only those files that can be accessed by the user account, regardless of the security profile of the SQL Server process."
What if i define a SQL-Agent Job to perform this bulk-Insert; Is it the OWNER of the Job who gives the security-context?
I just downloaded a VSIX file from http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/.
Problem is, I don't know how to install it. And google isn't being much help.
I'm trying to consume a SOAP web service from excel. Now according to This article (and confirmed by other articles and MSDN) if I do the following:
Install the web services toolkit (I've installed v2.01)
Install SOAP Toolkit 3.0
Add a reference to Microsoft Soap Type Library (I've tried v3.0 and an older one)
I should get a "Web Service References" menu item in the Tools menu but I don't.
I've also tried adding every reference that seemed to have anything to do with SOAP or XML, but it hasn't helped.
Any ideas?
I've seen this KB Article which Microsoft put out covering how to remove SSL 2.0 on IIS 7.0 and earlier, but I can't find anything advising on how to do the same on IIS 7.5. The registry keys mentioned on that KB article are no longer in the registry.
This problem started very recently after a system restore.
Each time I uninstall a program, it uninstalls correctly but the shortcuts remain in the Start menu. I can easily delete them by right-clicking on them, but it is an irritant and I was wondering why this is hapenning.
I tried changing the permissions on C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs but it did not help. What else can I try?
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.
Hi,
I use microsoft Exchange to sync google calendar with my iphone, but I don't like the color of this calendar in iphone, how I can change the calendars colors in the iphone ?
Many thanks.
Is there a way to add a new App Path (for adding commands to Start-Run) without needing Admin?
With admin, you can add an App Path to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths. I tried adding one under HKCU with no effect.
I've added a new (user-writable) location to my user's PATH environment variable which lets me launch things from Start-Run, but the nerd in me still wants to know about the App Paths.
How can someone who joins an existing Microsoft Communicator chat see the history of what has gone before?
For example:
Larry: [describes problem]
Moe: [enhances problem]
Curly: We should ask Shemp
[Shemp joins]
Shemp: What's going on in this thread?
Is there any way for Shemp to see what Larry and Moe have already typed?
I have tried copy-pasting the whole thing, but that invokes an error with no error message - possibly "too much text."
I'm trying to do Remote Administration of IIS in C#.NET using System.Web.Administration tools. Everything works fine on a test server (windows 2008), however when I try using our live server (windows 2003) it fails giving the message:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException : Not enough storage is available to process this command. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070008)
The server itself has plenty of memory free, so I believe this is some kind of memory limit with the RPC itself.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890425
Is there any way around this?
I'm trying to install .NET 4.0 on some VMs using dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe and am getting error 0x800C0005. The issue likely involves the firewall/proxy/security configuration. Rather than dealing with that, does Microsoft have an offline install available yet? I've searched but not found one.

By default in IIS7, Windows Authentication was turned off and I had to make a configuration change to activate it. When I did that there was a description for Windows Authentication that explained this should only be used for intranet sites, not public facing websites. When you consider NTLM/Kerberos does not use plain text I am not sure why Microsoft have decided this, all of a sudden.
Can anybody explain?
I installed voip program called Freecall in my Windows 7 Professional laptop. Now it shows as a Startup item in "System Configuration" console. I tried to uncheck it in the Startup item and restart, but it keeps on adding itself to HKCU\Software|Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. How to remove these kinds of programs from the startup?
I was looking for a way to portfoward 0.0.0.0 default gateways and I found in a Microsoft page that I had to try the command route delete 0.0.0.0, my internet disconnected and I couldn't connect to the internet anymore... Does anyone have a solution? It's an ADSL Modem.
I have:
Windows 7 x32
4 GB ram
A kanji modem that has this problem too...
It's like Windows doesn't detect the wireless adapter, so it won't connect to the internet.
Hi.
After I uninstalled Visual Studio 2010 beta 2 and installed Visual Studio 2010 RC, executing IISRESET gives the following error message:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual
Studio 10.0\VCiisreset /stop
Attempting stop... Stop attempt
failed. The system cannot find the
file specified. (2147942402, 80070002)
Further information. Before bet2, the same computer also had beta1 installed. The OS is Windows 2008 Web Server
Any clue here?
I have a few Windows Vista and XP machines. Can you suggest me a free antivirus and Internet Security solution for them. I searched the internet and got a few options, but if you have used some free AV solutions, please share.
I do not want to use Microsoft Security Essentials or Avira.
This occurred after a Trojan incident. We managed to get the Trojan cleaned off the computer, but now we can't Right click the desktop. We have tried changing HKCU/software/microsoft/windows/current version/policies/explorer/noviewcontextmenu in the registry, and group policy user configuration/administrative templates/windows explorer/remove windows explorers default context menu, but neither worked.
How do we reenable the right-click menu for the desktop? (it works everywhere else)
My Del Dimension E521 running Windows 7 puts itself in sleep mode each night -- despite the fact that I have chosen a power option that specifies NEVER
Each morning I find the monitor blank and I have to hit the power button on the PC at which point Windows "resumes". The system event log shows this:
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
Date: 3/27/2010 3:21:10 AM
Description:
The system is entering sleep.
Sleep Reason: System Idle
My specific power options are:
Turn off Display : 20 Minutes
Put the computer to sleep : Never
Is there some other setting coming into play here?
ACID properties are important for the RDMS applications. There are many relational database services offered by the cloud providers such as AMAZON RDS and Microsoft SQL Azure.
i'm curious about if the ACID properties are provided or not ?
thanks.
In Windows XP we can search for files witch contains a defined keyword (inside all files types)
Windows 7 can look inside files for a keywords, okay, but only for text files. (*.doc,*.txt, *.inf, ...), not (*.conf, *.dat, *.*, ...)
Microsoft search filters don't contain any filter I can use for this.
Any idea?
