• JustCode – Color Identifier Basics

Color identifiers make it easier for developers to quickly read and understand the code on screen. One of the many features provided by JustCode is the ability to colorize additional items that Visual Studio does not allow you to colorize by default. The colorization of items such as methods, properties, events, variables, and method parameters can easily be tweaked to your specific needs. Enable / Disable Color Identifiers In the recent release, we turned this option on by default. You can enable/disable code colorization by going to the JustCode menu in Visual Studio, selecting options, then selecting the general section in the left window. When you scroll down on general setting you will see a check box that says Color Identifiers. Check or uncheck this box to enable/disable code colorization. Color identifiers option Adjust Color Identifiers Adjusting the color identifiers in JustCode is done in the same place ...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • UppercuT and Mercurial (hg)

I mentioned this awhile back on twitter, but UppercuT (UC) has support for Mercurial for versioning your assemblies. In the settings file, all you need to do it tell UC to use hg. When you build your assemblies, they will use the changeset number in the version, and in the informational version, you get the hash, just like you do when using Git. Pretty sweet. By the way, UC also supports .NET 4.0 as of last week. With this knowledge you shall build. ...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Determining Whether a String Is Contained Within a String Array (Case Insensitive)

About once every couple of months I need to write a bit of code that does one thing if a particular string is found within an array of strings and something else if it is not ignoring differences in case. For whatever reason, I never seem to remember the code snippet to accomplish this, so after spending 10 minutes of research today I thought I'd write it down here in an effort to help commit it to memory or, at the very least, serve as a quick place to find the answer when the need arises again. So without further adieu, here it is:Visual Basic Version:If stringArrayName.Contains("valueToLookFor", StringComparer.OrdinalIgnoreCase) Then ... Else ... End IfC# Version:if (stringArrayName.Contains("valueToLookFor", StringComparer.OrdinalIgnoreCase)) ... else ...Without the StringComparer.OrdinalIgnoreCase the search will be case-sensitive. • RIA Services and Validation

Earlier today, my SilverlightTV recording on RIA Services and Validation went online. I used validation as a feature area to focus on this first recording on RIA Services, because I think it illustrates both the RIA Services value proposition and key elements of the vision around the project in a very direct manner. Specifically: Focus on end-to-end solutions for data scenarios. It is not sufficient to just address querying data or submitting some changes, but about providing the infrastructure...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Sending JSON to an ASP.NET MVC Action Method Argument

Javier G Money Lozano, one of the good folks involved with C4MVC, recently wrote a blog post on posting JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) encoded data to an MVC controller action. In his post, he describes an interesting approach of using a custom model binder to bind sent JSON data to an argument of an action method. Unfortunately, his sample left out the custom model binder and only demonstrates how to retrieve JSON data sent from a controller action, not how to send the JSON to the action method....Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors?
