  • Turn Texture Blending off in XNA

    - by George Johnston
    I am currently drawing single colored pixels to my texture in XNA. However, there seems to be blending occuring, as the color I draw on the screen gets blended with my background color. How can I turn this off so that the color I draw is only the color I draw? this.spriteBatch.Draw(texture, new Rectangle(x, y, 1, 1), [My Color]);

  • Secure, simple php faq creating/editing scripts?

    - by Tchalvak
    I'm looking to build a simple site centered around a simple faq system in php. The faq concept is simple, but I want to have an administrative-access backend for editing and creating the entries, and securing a login seems more complex and time-consuming, so I'm looking for suggestions for code to start me off. Does anyone know of any open source php scripts or snippets that would work for administrative login to some php scripts that could be used as a simple faq system? Or both, the faq php code + web administrative access code?

  • ASP.NET MVC3 Custom Membership Provider - The membership provider name specified is invalid.

    - by David Lively
    I'm implementing a custom membership provider, and everything seems to go swimmingly until I create a MembershipUser object. At that point, I receive the error: The membership provider name specified is invalid. Parameter name: providerName In web.config the membership key is <membership defaultProvider="MembersProvider"> <providers> <clear/> <add name="MembersProvider" type="Members.Providers.MembersProvider" connectionStringName="ApplicationServices" enablePasswordRetrieval="false" enablePasswordReset="true" requiresQuestionAndAnswer="false" requiresUniqueEmail="false" maxInvalidPasswordAttempts="5" minRequiredPasswordLength="6" minRequiredNonalphanumericCharacters="0" passwordAttemptWindow="10" applicationName="DeviceDatabase" /> </providers> </membership> When creating the MembershipUser object from my custom User class: public static MembershipUser ToMembershipUser(User user) { MembershipUser member = new MembershipUser ("MembersProvider" , user.Name , user.Id , user.EmailAddress , user.PasswordQuestion , user.Comment , user.IsApproved , user.IsLockedOut , user.DateCreated , user.LastLoginDate ?? DateTime.MinValue , user.LastActivityDate ?? DateTime.MinValue , user.LastPasswordChangedDate ?? DateTime.MinValue , user.LastLockoutDate ?? DateTime.MinValue ); return member; } (I realize I could probably just inherit my User class from MembershipUser, but it's already part of an existing class hierarchy. I honestly think this is the first time I've encountered a legitimate need for for multiple inheritance!) My feeling is that the new MembershipUser(...) providerName parameter is supposed to match what's set in web.config, but, since they match already, I'm at a loss as to how to proceed. Is there a convenient way to get the name of the active membership provider in code? I'm starting to think that using the built-in membership system is overkill and more trouble than it's worth. Edit Not sure if it's relevant, but the custom membership provider class is in a class library, not the main WAP project. Update Here's the contents of the System.Web.Security.Membership.Provider object as show in the VS2010 command window: >eval System.Web.Security.Membership.Provider {Members.Providers.MembersProvider} [Members.Providers.MembersProvider]: {Members.Providers.MembersProvider} base {System.Configuration.Provider.ProviderBase}: {Members.Providers.MembersProvider} ApplicationName: null EnablePasswordReset: true EnablePasswordRetrieval: false MaxInvalidPasswordAttempts: 5 MinRequiredNonAlphanumericCharacters: 0 MinRequiredPasswordLength: 6 PasswordAttemptWindow: 10 PasswordFormat: Function evaluation was aborted. • Dropdown OnSelectedIndexChanged not firing

    - by Jim
    The OnSelectedIndexChanged event is not firing for my dropdown box. All forums I have looked at told me to add the AutoPostBack="true", but that didn't change the results. HTML: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <asp:Label ID="Label1" runat="server" Text="Current Time: " /> <br /> <asp:Label ID="lblCurrent" runat="server" Text="Label" /><br /><br /> <asp:DropDownList ID="cboSelectedLocation" runat="server" AutoPostBack="true" OnSelectedIndexChanged="cboSelectedLocation_SelectedIndexChanged" /><br /><br /> <asp:Label ID="lblSelectedTime" runat="server" Text="Label" /> </div> </form> </body> </html> Code behind: public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page { string _sLocation = string.Empty; string _sCurrentLoc = string.Empty; TimeSpan _tsSelectedTime; protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { AddTimeZones(); cboSelectedLocation.Focus(); lblCurrent.Text = "Currently in " + _sCurrentLoc + Environment.NewLine + DateTime.Now; lblSelectedTime.Text = _sLocation + ":" + Environment.NewLine + DateTime.UtcNow.Add(_tsSelectedTime); } //adds all timezone displaynames to combobox //defaults combo location to seoul, South Korea //defaults current location to current location private void AddTimeZones() { foreach(TimeZoneInfo tz in System.TimeZoneInfo.GetSystemTimeZones()) { string s = tz.DisplayName; cboSelectedLocation.Items.Add(s); if (tz.StandardName == "Korea Standard Time") cboSelectedLocation.Text = s; if (tz.StandardName == System.TimeZone.CurrentTimeZone.StandardName) _sCurrentLoc = tz.StandardName; } } //changes timezone name and time depending on what is selected in the cbobox. protected void cboSelectedLocation_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { foreach (TimeZoneInfo tz in System.TimeZoneInfo.GetSystemTimeZones()) { if (cboSelectedLocation.Text == tz.DisplayName) { _sLocation = tz.StandardName; _tsSelectedTime = tz.GetUtcOffset(DateTime.UtcNow); } } } } Any advice into what to look at for a rookie asp coder?   • Architecture for a farmville/yoville/cafe world type game?

    - by Joff
    I'm thinking of building a game along the lines of Farmville - items, events, time management system etc. Options I am thinking of: 1) Flash UI frontend that uses AMFPHP to get all data for the view from a PHP powered backend. 2) Actionscript to power the whole game Any input is appreciated. My concern with Actionscript is scaling, my concern with PHP is having to build an update system that would need a lot of back and forth xmlhttprequests which might get complicated. If there's a better way to build something like this, I'm all ears :)

  • Accessing Private Frameworks to see what they do...

    - by Moshe
    I am investigating the UIFont thing on iPhone. (You can't easily use custom fonts.) I was wondering if the peeking at the Quarts drawing methods would help. The issue is, i don't know where to look or how to access that information. Where can I find the framework headers? Also, I was wondering where the iPhone stores the Fonts. (Path to them...)

  • How to check if a field is an Image field

    - by AJ
    Hello, This might seem an easy question for some, but I am struggling with it. I am trying to use SQLDataReader.GetFieldType to check if a certain field is an Image field. Lets assume the first field of the result set is an Image field, if I do: reader.GetFieldType(0).ToString; I get System.Byte[] But is this the correct way to check for it? I really don't like: if (reader.GetFieldType(0).ToString="System.Byte[]") Is there a better way? Thanks, AJ

  • Java Hardware Acceleration

    - by Freezerburn
    I have been spending some time looking into the hardware acceleration features of Java, and I am still a bit confused as none of the sites that I found online directly and clearly answered some of the questions I have. So here are the questions I have for hardware acceleration in Java: 1) In Eclipse version 3.6.0, with the most recent Java update for Mac OS X (1.6u10 I think), is hardware acceleration enabled by default? I read somewhere that someCanvas.getGraphicsConfiguration().getBufferCapabilities().isPageFlipping() is supposed to give an indication of whether or not hardware acceleration is enabled, and my program reports back true when that is run on my main Canvas instance for drawing to. If my hardware acceleration is not enabled now, or by default, what would I have to do to enable it? 2) I have seen a couple articles here and there about the difference between a BufferedImage and VolatileImage, mainly saying that VolatileImage is the hardware accelerated image and is stored in VRAM for fast copy-from operations. However, I have also found some instances where BufferedImage is said to be hardware accelerated as well. Is BufferedImage hardware accelerated as well in my environment? What would be the advantage of using a VolatileImage if both types are hardware accelerated? My main assumption for the advantage of having a VolatileImage in the case of both having acceleration is that VolatileImage is able to detect when its VRAM has been dumped. But if BufferedImage also support acceleration now, would it not have the same kind of detection built into it as well, just hidden from the user, in case that the memory is dumped? 3) Is there any advantage to using someGraphicsConfiguration.getCompatibleImage/getCompatibleVolatileImage() as opposed to ImageIO.read() In a tutorial I have been reading for some general concepts about setting up the rendering window properly (tutorial) it uses the getCompatibleImage method, which I believe returns a BufferedImage, to get their "hardware accelerated" images for fast drawing, which ties into question 2 about if it is hardware accelerated. 4) This is less hardware acceleration, but it is something I have been curious about: do I need to order which graphics get drawn? I know that when using OpenGL via C/C++ it is best to make sure that the same graphic is drawn in all the locations it needs to be drawn at once to reduce the number of times the current texture needs to be switch. From what I have read, it seems as if Java will take care of this for me and make sure things are drawn in the most optimal fashion, but again, nothing has ever said anything like this clearly. 5) What AWT/Swing classes support hardware acceleration, and which ones should be used? I am currently using a class that extends JFrame to create a window, and adding a Canvas to it from which I create a BufferStrategy. Is this good practice, or is there some other type of way I should be implementing this? Thank you very much for your time, and I hope I provided clear questions and enough information for you to answer my several questions.

  • ASP.Net MVC, strongly typed view with DateTime not accepted?

    Hi all, I wish to create a view like <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.DateTime?>" %> but I get an error saying that DateTime must be a reference type in order to use for parameter TModel. Fair enough, but I google plenty of examples that implement just what I try to achieve. Any clues as to what I need to change/install/update? Any comments welcome, Anders, Denmark

  • Declare private static members in F#?

    - by acidzombie24
    I decided to port the class in C# below to F# as an exercise. It was difficult. I only notice three problems 1) Greet is visible 2) I can not get v to be a static class variable 3) I do not know how to set the greet member in the constructor. How do i fix these? The code should be similar enough that i do not need to change any C# source. ATM only Test1.v = 21; does not work C# using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace CsFsTest { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Test1.hi("stu"); new Test1().hi(); Test1.v = 21; var a = new Test1("Stan"); a.hi(); a.a = 9; Console.WriteLine("v = {0} {1} {2}", a.a, a.b, a.NotSTATIC()); } } class Test1 { public int a; public int b { get { return a * 2; } } string greet = "User"; public static int v; public Test1() {} public Test1(string name) { greet = name; } public static void hi(string greet) { Console.WriteLine("Hi {0}", greet); } public void hi() { Console.WriteLine("Hi {0} #{1}", greet, v); } public int NotSTATIC() { return v; } } } F# namespace CsFsTest type Test1 = (* public int a; public int b { get { return a * 2; } } string greet = "User"; public static int v; *) [<DefaultValue>] val mutable a : int member x.b = x.a * 2 member x.greet = "User" (*!! Needs to be private *) [<DefaultValue>] val mutable v : int (*!!   • Most idiomatic way to print a time difference in Java?

    - by Zombies
    I'm familiar with printing time difference in milliseconds: long time = System.currentTimeMillis(); //do something that takes some time... long completedIn = System.currentTimeMillis() - time(); But, is there a nice way print a complete time in a specified format (eg: HH:MM:SS) either using Apache Commons or even the dreaded platform API's Date/Time objects? In other words, what is the shortest, simplest, no nonsense way to write this in Java?

  • Socket server with multiple clients, sending messages to many clients without hurting liveliness

    - by Karl Johanson
    I have a small socket server, and I need to distribute various messages from client-to-client depending on different conditionals. However I think I have a small problem with livelyness in my current code, and is there anything wrong in my approach: public class CuClient extends Thread { Socket socket = null; ObjectOutputStream out; ObjectInputStream in; CuGroup group; public CuClient(Socket s, CuGroup g) { this.socket = s; this.group = g; out = new ObjectOutputStream(this.socket.getOutputStream()); out.flush(); in = new ObjectInputStream(this.socket.getInputStream()); } @Override public void run() { String cmd = ""; try { while (!cmd.equals("client shutdown")) { cmd = (String) in.readObject(); this.group.broadcastToGroup(this, cmd); } out.close(); in.close(); socket.close(); } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println(this.getName()); e.printStackTrace(); } } public void sendToClient(String msg) { try { this.out.writeObject(msg); this.out.flush(); } catch (IOException ex) { } } And my CuGroup: public class CuGroup { private Vector<CuClient> clients = new Vector<CuClient>(); public void addClient(CuClient c) { this.clients.add(c); } void broadcastToGroup(CuClient clientName, String cmd) { Iterator it = this.clients.iterator(); while (it.hasNext()) { CuClient cu = (CuClient)it.next(); cu.sendToClient(cmd); } } } And my main-class: public class SmallServer { public static final Vector<CuClient> clients = new Vector<CuClient>(10); public static boolean serverRunning = true; private ServerSocket serverSocket; private CuGroup group = new CuGroup(); public void body() { try { this.serverSocket = new ServerSocket(1337, 20); System.out.println("Waiting for clients\n"); do { Socket s = this.serverSocket.accept(); CuClient t = new CuClient(s,group); System.out.println("SERVER: " + s.getInetAddress() + " is connected!\n"); t.start(); } while (this.serverRunning); } catch (IOException ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } } public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("Server"); SmallServer server = new SmallServer(); server.body(); } } Consider the example with many more groups, maybe a Collection of groups. If they all synchronize on a single Object, I don't think my server will be very fast. I there a pattern or something that can help my liveliness?
