  • Prevent UIGestureRecognizer from firing selector more than once

    - by JK
I utilize a UILongPressGestureRecognizer in my app. This is a continuous gesture recognizer which means it continuously fires the selector for the target it was initialized with. I would like the selector to be fired only once. I have tried to prevent further selectors being fired by setting the gesture recognizer's enabled property to Note the first time the selector is fired, but this only takes effect after the selector is fired again. How can I ensure the selector is fired only once?

  • View outlet not set with UINavigationController

    - by Sheehan Alam
I have a NIB that contains a UINavigationController which has a UIViewController. The UIViewController is being loaded externally from another nib. I am unable to set the view property thus I get the error: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: '-[UIViewController _loadViewFromNibNamed:bundle:] loaded the "LBRootViewController" nib but the view outlet was not set.' How can I set my view property correctly?

  • Odd values/movement with UITouch and CGPoint.

    - by Joshua
    I'm getting odd numbers from UITouch and CGPoint and one is different, I also think this maybe causing a flickering affect in my app when I try to move something by following a touch. This is the code I'm using: - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSLog(@"touchDown"); UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; firstTouch = [touch locationInView:self.view]; if (CGRectContainsPoint(but.frame, firstTouch)) { butContains = YES; NSLog(@"butContains = %d", butContains); } } - (void)touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; currentTouch = [touch locationInView:self.view]; NSInteger x = currentTouch.x; NSInteger y = currentTouch.y; CGFloat CGX = (CGFloat)x; CGFloat CGY = (CGFloat)y; if (butContains == YES) { NSLog(@"touch in subView/contentView"); sub.frame = CGRectMake(CGX, CGY, 130.0, 21.0); } NSLog(@"touch moved"); } - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; currentTouch = [touch locationInView:self.view]; NSLog(@"User tapped at %@", NSStringFromCGPoint(currentTouch)); NSLog(@"Point %a, %a", currentTouch.x, currentTouch.y); NSInteger x = currentTouch.x; NSInteger y = currentTouch.y; NSLog(@"Point %a, %a", y, x); CGFloat CGX = (CGFloat)x; CGFloat CGY = (CGFloat)y; NSLog(@"Point %g, %g", CGX, CGY); if (butContains == YES) { NSLog(@"touch in subView/contentView"); sub.frame = CGRectMake(CGX, CGY, 130.0, 21.0); } butContains = NO; NSLog(@"touch ended"); } - (IBAction)add:(id)sender{ InSightViewController *contentView = [[InSightViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SubView" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; [contentView loadView]; [self.view insertSubview:contentView.view atIndex:0]; } This is what I get from the touchesEnded method in the Debugger. 2010-04-20 20:06:13.045 InSight[25042:207] User tapped at {50, 78} 2010-04-20 20:06:13.047 InSight[25042:207] Point 0x1.9p+5, 0x1.38p+6 2010-04-20 20:06:13.048 InSight[25042:207] Point 0x1.900000027p-1037, 0x1.38p+6 2010-04-20 20:06:13.048 InSight[25042:207] Point 50, 78 And this is what's happening in the Simulator. fwdr.org/file:y8bd As this is a complicated problem this is the source code of my XCode Project aswell. http://cl.ly/Qjj

  • Why is my app running

    - by John Smith
I have compiled my iPhone app with setting (Device, Release). I install it on the test machine and it runs with no problem. Here's the problem. The app is linked to a C++ library. The compilation on the simulator has no errors. However the device compilation produces 568 errors, mostly about different visibilities w.r.t AppDelegate.o. They all look like: QL::Error::~Error()has different visibility (default) in /QL/build/Release-iphoneos/libQLLibrary.a(abcd.o) and (hidden) in /Programming/ObjC/Second/build/Second.build/Release-iphoneos/FG.build/Objects-normal/armv6/AppDelegate.o Why is this, and how can I stop the errors anyway?

  • How-to build a droplet application in Xcode4?

    - by Josh
In Xcode3 there used to be a template to build "Droplet" Applications (head/nibless apps that would throw whatever dropped at them at an "on open" Applescript method). In Xcode4 this template is unfortunately gone. What are the required steps to setup an xcode4 droplet project? modify the info.plist i guess to make the app handle drops get rid of the nib (also involves changes in main.m and both AppDelegate.h and AppDelegate.m i guess) Maybe somebody even still has Xcode3 installed and could create an empty applescript droplet app and upload it somewhere? that would be very interesting. thanks! (or is there maybe even a way to export an app bundle created with the AppleScript Editor to Xcode?)

  • Is it worthwhile to implement observer pattern in PHP?

    - by Extrakun
I have been meaning to make use of design pattern in PHP, such as the observer pattern, but that I have to recreate the observers' relationship each time the page is loaded pains me. As references are saved as a new concrete objects in session, there is no way to preserve relationships between subscribers and their observers unless you use a GUID or some other properties to form a lookup, and store that property instead. With the cost of recreating the relationships each time a page is loaded, is it worthwhile to use design patterns such as observers in PHP, compared to having a clean design? Any real-world experience to share?

  • Problems using a library in Xcode

    - by Pablo
Hi! I'm actually developping an application for iPhone and I need to use a library, initially dedicated to a Linux environment. Since I'm using a Mac (with Snow Leopard and Intel Core Duo), I guess it's possible to use this library in my app. My library has 3 files: a file .h, a file .a and a file .so (both .a and .so are in /Developer/usr/lib). In addition I have included the .h i nmy code and I've added the .a in XCode has a framework (and it works because XCode find the .so compiling). For your info when I use the command "file" for the file .so, I have: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, not stripped When I compile for the Xcode Simulator, I have a warning and an error. The warning is: In /Developer/usr/lib/mylib.so, file was built for unsupported file format which is not the architecture being linked (i386) The error is: "_mylib_fct", referenced from: -[MyAppAppDelegate applicationDidBecomeActive:] in MyAppAppDelegate.o Symbol(s) not found Collect2: ld returned 1 exit status When I compile for the Device 3.0 with architecture arm6, I also have the same error, but the warning is quite different: ln /Users/Pablo/MyApp/mylib.a file is not of required architecture I try to solve this and make the app working with this lib since days, and I don't understand why the compiler is complaining... is it a 32/64 bits issues ? How can I deal with that ? Your help will be very appreciated. Thx!

  • Calculating string sizes on iPhone on a background thread

    - by jbrennan
I've got some somewhat hefty string size calculations happening in my app (each one takes close to 500ms, and happens when the user scrolls to a new "page" in my app (like the Weather app). The delay only happens once per page, as the calculation only needs to be run once (and can even be cached for subsequent launches with the same data). Anyway, I still like to not block the UI for this type of work, as to me it screams using threads, but I know UIKit is not meant to be used from other threads. (I know NSString is not part of UIKit, but the string sizing methods are part of the UIKitAdditions...) So how should I go about doing this? What's the best way to not block the UI and do so safely?

  • How would I write the following applescript in Obj-C AppScript? ASTranslate was of no help =(

    - by demonslayer319
The translation tool isn't able to translate this working code. I copied it out of a working script. set pathToTemp to (POSIX path of ((path to desktop) as string)) -- change jpg to pict tell application "Image Events" try launch set albumArt to open file (pathToTemp & "albumart.jpg") save albumArt as PICT in file (pathToTemp & "albumart.pict") --the first 512 bytes are the PICT header, so it reads from byte 513 --this is to allow the image to be added to an iTunes track later. set albumArt to (read file (pathToTemp & "albumart.pict") from 513 as picture) close end try end tell The code is taking a jpg image, converting it to a PICT file, and then reading the file minus the header (the first 512 bytes). Later in the script, albumArt will be added to an iTunes track. I tried translating the code (minus the comments), but ASTranslate froze for a good 2 minutes before giving me this: Untranslated event 'earsffdr' #import "IEGlue/IEGlue.h" IEApplication *imageEvents = [IEApplication applicationWithName: @"Image Events"]; IELaunchCommand *cmd = [[imageEvents launch] ignoreReply]; id result = [cmd send]; #import "IEGlue/IEGlue.h" IEApplication *imageEvents = [IEApplication applicationWithName: @"Image Events"]; IEReference *ref = [[imageEvents files] byName: @"/Users/Doom/Desktop/albumart.jpg"]; id result = [[ref open] send]; #import "IEGlue/IEGlue.h" IEApplication *imageEvents = [IEApplication applicationWithName: @"Image Events"]; IEReference *ref = [[imageEvents images] byName: @"albumart.jpg"]; IESaveCommand *cmd = [[[ref save] in: [[imageEvents files] byName: @"/Users/Doom/Desktop/albumart.pict"]] as: [IEConstant PICT]]; id result = [cmd send]; 'crdwrread' Traceback (most recent call last): File "objcrenderer.pyc", line 283, in renderCommand KeyError: 'crdwrread' 'cascrgdut' Traceback (most recent call last): File "objcrenderer.pyc", line 283, in renderCommand KeyError: 'cascrgdut' 'crdwrread' Traceback (most recent call last): File "objcrenderer.pyc", line 283, in renderCommand KeyError: 'crdwrread' Untranslated event 'rdwrread' OK I have no clue how to make sense of this. Thanks for any and all help!

  • Face Detection API for Objective-C

    - by Elomar Nascimento dos Santos
Hello, everybody. Does someone here knows a face detection API for Objective-C? I just want to detect one or more faces inside a photo, so it's not necessary face recognition. I want to build something similar to the iPhoto's feature that puts a square on all faces in a photo. It would be nice if the API can be used on iPhone apps too. Regards.

  • UIViewController rotate methods

    - by Corey Floyd
What object is responsible for dipatching the UIViewController rotation method calls, i.e: – shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation: – willRotateToInterfaceOrientation:duration: – willAnimateFirstHalfOfRotationToInterfaceOrientation:duration: – willAnimateSecondHalfOfRotationFromInterfaceOrientation:duration: – didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation: I imagine it is UIApplication (but maybe the AppDelegate or UIWindow). The next question, is how does the object know which UIViewController to talk to? How does it know which UIViewController has its view as the subview of the window? Is there a message you can send or a property you can set (of some object) that sets the "Active" UIViewController for the app?

  • UISlider returns two Touch Up Inside events, why does that happen?

    - by willc2
I have a slider that I'm using to set a float value somewhere. I connect Value Changed to a method in my viewController. That part works fine. I need to know when the user starts touching the control but not necessarily every single instant that the slider changes (I receive the Value Changed events for that). So I connected a Touch Up Inside event to another method in the viewController. The problem it, that method gets called twice when the user touches the UISlider control. WTF? It doesn't work that way with UIButtons or other touch events like Touch Down. I can work around it, I think, but it seems like a bug in the way the slider control handles touches. Does anybody know why it happens? BTW: the double touch event happens even when Touch Up Inside is the only connected event.

  • Why does my UIButton.titleLabel.text disappear when I place an image in the button?

    - by nickthedude
I've had this problem before but was able to work around it until now, Basically I'm creating a custom UIbutton setting its image as a uiimage and then the button that has had a label until I implimented the below code now loses its label. I need that label because it is set programatically in code that follows. NSString *imageName = [NSString stringWithFormat:kNameOfButtonimage ]; UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:imageName]; [button setImage:image forState:UIControlStateNormal ]; Any help you could lend would be mucho appreciated. -nick

  • How to disable multiple touches on a ScrollView and UIImage

    - by Rob
    I have a scrollview that I am loading images into that the user can touch and play a sound. However, the program is getting confused when I press one image with one finger and then another one with a different finger. It thinks you are pushing the same button again and therefore plays the sound again (so you have two of the same sounds playing at the same time even though you may have pressed a different sound button). I tried setting exclusiveTouch for each UIImage but that didn't seem to work in this case for some reason. What am I missing or is there a better way to do this? Here is some code: for creating buttons.... - (void) createButtons { CGRect myFrame = [self.outletScrollView bounds]; CGFloat gapX, gapY, x, y; int columns = 3; int myIndex = 0; int viewWidth = myFrame.size.width; int buttonsCount = [g_AppsList count]; float actualRows = (float) buttonsCount / columns; int rows = buttonsCount / columns; int buttonWidth = 100; int buttonHeight = 100; if (actualRows > rows) rows++; //set scrollview content size to hold all the glitter icons library gapX = (viewWidth - columns * buttonWidth) / (columns + 1); gapY = gapX; y = gapY; int contentHeight = (rows * (buttonHeight + gapY)) + gapY; [outletScrollView setContentSize: CGSizeMake(viewWidth, contentHeight)]; UIImage* myImage; NSString* buttonName; //center all buttons to view int i = 1, j = 1; for (i; i <= rows; i++) { //calculate gap between buttons gapX = (viewWidth - (buttonWidth * columns)) / (columns + 1); if (i == rows) { //this is the last row, recalculate gap and pitch gapX = (viewWidth - (buttonWidth * buttonsCount)) / (buttonsCount + 1); columns = buttonsCount; }//end else x = gapX; j = 1; for (j; j <= columns; j++) { //get shape name buttonName = [g_AppsList objectAtIndex: myIndex]; buttonName = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%@.png", buttonName]; myImage = [UIImage imageNamed: buttonName]; TapDetectingImageView* imageView = [[TapDetectingImageView alloc] initWithImage: myImage]; [imageView setFrame: CGRectMake(x, y, buttonWidth, buttonHeight)]; [imageView setTag: myIndex]; [imageView setContentMode:UIViewContentModeScaleToFill]; [imageView setUserInteractionEnabled: YES]; [imageView setMultipleTouchEnabled: NO]; [imageView setExclusiveTouch: YES]; [imageView setDelegate: self]; //add button to current view [outletScrollView addSubview: imageView]; [imageView release]; x = x + buttonWidth + gapX; //increase button index myIndex++; }//end for j //increase y y = y + buttonHeight + gapY; //decrease buttons count buttonsCount = buttonsCount - columns; }//end for i } and for playing the sounds... - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { //stop playing theAudio.stop; // cancel any pending handleSingleTap messages [NSObject cancelPreviousPerformRequestsWithTarget:self selector:@selector(handleSingleTap) object:nil]; UITouch* touch = [[event allTouches] anyObject]; NSString* filename = [g_AppsList objectAtIndex: [touch view].tag]; NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource: filename ofType:@"m4a"]; theAudio=[[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:path] error:NULL]; theAudio.delegate = self; [theAudio prepareToPlay]; [theAudio setNumberOfLoops:-1]; [theAudio setVolume: g_Volume]; [theAudio play]; } - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { BOOL allTouchesEnded = ([touches count] == [[event touchesForView:self] count]); if (allTouchesEnded) { //stop playing theAudio.stop; }//end if //stop playing theAudio.stop; }

So when I set up my entitlements in my iPhone app project, I create a new Entitlements.plist, and set the value of get-task-allow to false. But why? What does this key represent? EDIT Note this is related to this question - I found that flipping the value of this key to true allowed me to install the app on my device)

  • iPhone UIScrollView / setContentOffset weirdness

    - by bibac
Hi, I have a weird issue with setContentOffset which I don't seem to be able to solve: I'm trying to build an "endless" scroll view, so I'd like to reset the content offset at a certain position. With the code below setContentOffset will be called at x=160px. If I drag the scroll view my log looks like this: offset: 158 offset: 159 offset: 160 offset: 80 offset: 160 What happens is that my setContentOffset (to 80) is performed, when I keep on dragging UIScrollView seem to have forgotten about it and continues at 160. Even weirder: When I set animated:YES it works. Maybe a timing issue? When I call setContentOffset from within scrollViewDidScroll, scrollViewDidScroll will be called again. - (void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)scrollView { NSInteger tileNo = floor(scrollView.contentOffset.x / 80); NSLog(@"offset: %f, tile: %d, lastTile: %d", scrollView.contentOffset.x, tileNo, lastTileNo); if (tileNo > lastTileNo) { [scrollView setContentOffset:CGPointMake(80, 0) animated:NO]; } lastTileNo = tileNo; } Thanks for helping me out, Stephan
