Hi,
I am passing the email address as part of the url,
for ex. http://example.com/hello/[email protected]
but, when being passed to the application controller it is changed to " user%40hotmail.com ".
I can't seem to understand this special character escaping; confusion.
please help me explain the problem here, and also what can I do to fix it.
I am using python's "webapp" web application framework.
I'm developing an ASP.NET asyc generic handler which uses a static System.Threading.Timer instance to feed data to the response output stream while the context is in the asynchronous phase.
I'm having issues at startup that I'd like to debug.
Currently, because of the long-lived nature of the timer, I'm manually killing w3wp.exe in order to cause the application to restart. I'm aware that there are other ways to do this, but this is the best workflow I can find!
Isn't there a way to force a cold start when I hit f5, instead of the standard VS approach of attaching to the existing IIS process?
I create an Enterprise Application CustomerApp that also generated two projects CustomerApp-ejb and CustomerApp-war. In the CustomerApp-ejb, I create a SessionBean call CustomerSessionBean.java as below.
package com.customerapp.ejb;
import javax.ejb.Stateless;
import javax.ejb.LocalBean;
import javax.persistence.EntityManager;
import javax.persistence.PersistenceContext;
@Stateless
@LocalBean
public class CustomerSessionBean {
@PersistenceContext(unitName = "CustomerApp-ejbPU")
private EntityManager em;
public void persist(Object object) {
em.persist(object);
}
}
Now I can deploy CustomerApp-war just fine. But as soon as I create a Message Driven Bean, I cant deploy CustomerApp-war anymore. When I create NotificationBean.java (message driven bean), In the project destination option, I click add, and have NotificationQueue for the Destination Name and Destination Type is Queue. Below are the code
package com.customerapp.mdb;
import javax.ejb.ActivationConfigProperty;
import javax.ejb.MessageDriven;
import javax.jms.Message;
import javax.jms.MessageListener;
@MessageDriven(mappedName = "jms/NotificationQueue", activationConfig = {
@ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "acknowledgeMode", propertyValue = "Auto-acknowledge"),
@ActivationConfigProperty(propertyName = "destinationType", propertyValue = "javax.jms.Queue")
})
public class NotificationBean implements MessageListener {
public NotificationBean() {
}
public void onMessage(Message message) {
}
}
If I remove the @MessageDriven annotation, then I can deploy the project. Any idea why and how to fix it?
hi, i'm still new to yii framework.
so, i want to try running yiic so that i could see the structure of the files created.
but, i could not run it in console. Does anyone have a solution? thanks.
I'm using wamp on win xp.
i go to the directory of the yiic framework
its in D:\wamp\www\framework\
and run yiic and any other variations per Larry Ullman's blog. but still got: "..." is not a recognizable internal/ external command...
How should i be able to run yiic? thanks.
I am trying to build a basic CRUD application with NetBeans 7.4, JSF, PrimeFaces and JPA using MySQL.
I have successfully done this by using the NetBeans wizards. I want to do this from scratch, no wizards.
There seems to be a lack of support for the combo of JSF, PrimeFaces and JPA. When I say "lack", I mean a full example (I might be asking too much), without using the CRUD auto-gen templates/classes AND shows actual queries coded and passed to the datatables(primefaces). YouTube is full of non-English speaking examples using Hibernate (not JPA) and other examples that show flashy GUI's with no code.
So far I understand you need an @Entity class (provides the physical build of the tables), a Controller (serializable) and the .xhtml web page to show the datatable.. what else? Also, I'm not seeing any posts or examples where queries are using with JPA/JSF and how they are tied together (in one place). I need to connect the dots here so that I can leverage JSF/JPA to create simple queries to populate my PF DataTables. I've read the blogs and I've googled the intranets until I'm blue in the face. Sending me a list of URL's to read to learn about each product is something I've already done. I get what they do independently, but am looking for the "How do they all connect" answer with maybe some basic code examples!! :)
Hi,
I have a number of war projects deployed in a single tomcat 5.5 container. They consume each other's services through http, and thus I need to make sure that, when Tomcat is restarted, they are deployed in an specific order. After a couple of hours googlin' around, no luck.
Anyone knows how to setup tomcat 5.5 to deploy wars on restart in an specific order?
Thanks in advance
I have two webapps, prod-1.2.1.war and test-2.0.0.war.
If I put these straight into the "tomcat/webapps"-folder, they'll get deployed as;
hXXp://localhost/prod-1.2.1/
hXXp://localhost/test-2.0.0/
This works but really I would like them to show up as;
hXXp://localhost/vegshop/prod/
hXXp://localhost/vegshop/test/
As you see I somehow would like the "vegshop" to be included in the context path.
I also would like the version-numbering to disappear without having to rename the WAR-files.
Thank you.
This is Apache Tomcat v6.0 under Linux 2.6, running SUN JDK 1.6.
I'm making a mobile version of my website, and trying to make it feel as native as possible on the iphone. However, any background areas of the page respond to swiping gestures such that you can shift the page partway off the screen. Specifically, if the user touches and swipes left, for example, the content shifts off the edge of the screen and one can see a gray background 'behind' the page. How can this be prevented? I'd like to have the page itself be 320x480 with scroll-swiping disabled (except on list elements that I choose).
I have added the following meta tags to the top of the page:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=320; height=480; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=0;"/>
<meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes" />
<meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-status-bar-style" content="black" />
I've also tried the following as the event handler for the touchstart, touchmove, and touchend events of the body element:
function cancelTouchEvent(e) {
if (!e) var e = window.event;
e.cancelBubble = true;
if (e.stopPropagation) e.stopPropagation();
if (e.preventDefault) e.preventDefault();
return false;
}
It doesn't stop the swiping behavior, but does prevent clicks on all links on the page...
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
I need a service which allows me to edit a hosted text file by email.
For example: I write an email to [email protected] with subject "ADD LINE 10" and sending it the mail body is inserted into myfile which is hosted on a server of someservice.ext. Same for "DELETE LINE 12" or "SUBSTITUTE LINE 15". If I write "ECHO FILE" or something similar, the service should send me an email with the updated content of the text file.
Does it exist?
I've this problem using STS: I'm building a simple Spring app, just to try out features like MVC and persistence. Now I've created something very simple, out of a bunch of tutorials for Spring 3, that I'm using. The application fails with this, during server startup:
Code:
org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.annotation.DefaultAnnotationHandlerMapping#0': Initialization of bean failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.CannotLoadBeanClassException: Cannot find class [org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.annotation.AnnotationSessionFactoryBean] for bean with name 'mySessionFactory' defined in ServletContext resource [/WEB-INF/spring/appServlet/servlet-context.xml]; nested exception is java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.annotation.AnnotationSessionFactoryBean
but I've org.springframework.orm in web-inf/classes folder (I even tried putting it in web-inf/lib). As I copied these libs there, the came out in Web App Libraries folder. Building this project in STS works fine as this dependency is set up in build path throught project properties, but how do I transfer the libs to the web app? (I'm using Tomcat 6 as it is the server I'm going to use sometime in the future for production). Is this a config problem of my XML? Or am I just missing the right way to put this lib? (I encountered the same problem before, but adding the needed lib in classes worked it out). More than this I that if I browse inside my workspace to the folder where the working folder of tomcat should be, I can't find any work directory and any commo
I have a web application that uses a library which resides in TOMCAT_HOME/common/lib. This library looks for a properties file at the root of the classpath (in a class called ApplicationConfig):
ApplicationConfig.class.getResourceAsStream("/hv-application.properties");
My Tomcat web application contains this properties file. It is in WEB-INF/classes, which is the root of the classpath right? However, at runtime, when it tries to load the properties file, it throws an exception because it can't find it (getResourceAsStream returns null).
Everything works fine if my application is a simple, standalone Java application. Does Tomcat cause the getResourceAsStream method to act differently? I know there's a lot of similar questions out there, but none of them have helped unfortunately. Thanks.
Hello. I develop web applications using Django on Mac OSX 10.6. I use Django's built in local development server which I run on my computer's IP (such as: http://192.168.0.11:8001/). I test my applications in Firefox, Safari and Chrome and all display fine. I use Sun's VirtualBox with 3 different instances of Windows XP that have IE6, IE7 and IE8 on them.
For whatever reason, these sometimes just don't display the Django sites. They come up with 'The page cannot be displayed'. Eight times out of ten, they display fine and function normally but for no reason at all they won't display. Sometimes restarting Django's local development server from the Terminal will fix the problem, sometimes it won't.
Is there some sort of VirtualBox settings or Django settings that I need to set to ensure smooth operation of this? Am I overlooking something? Has anyone else had these problems?
Hi guys,
There is a massive database (GB) that I am working with now and all of the previous development has been done on a slicehost slice. I am trying to get ready for more developers to come in and work so I need each person to be able to setup his own machine for development, which means potentially copying this database. Selecting only the first X rows in each table to cut size could be problematic for data consistency. Is there any way around this, or is a 1 hour download for each developer going to be necessary? And beyond that, what if I need to copy the production DB down for dev purposes in the future?
Sincerely,
Tyler
My app takes care of user registration (with the option to receive email announcements), and can easily handle the actual template-based rendering of email for a given user. JavaMail provides the mail transport layer. But how should I design the application layer between the business objects (e.g. User) and the mail transport?
The straightforward approach would be a simple, synchronous loop: iterate through the users, queue the emails, and be done with it. "Queue" might mean sending them straight to the MTA (mail server), or to an in-memory queue to be consumed by another thread.
However, I also plan to implement features like throttling the rate of emails, processing bounced emails (NDRs), and maintaining status across application restarts. My intuition is that a good design would decouple this from both the business layer and the mail transport layer as much as possible. I wondered if others had solved this problem before, but after much searching I haven't found any Java libraries which seem to fit this problem. Standalone mail apps such as James or list servers are too large in scope; packages like Spring's MailSender or Commons Email are too small in scope (being basically drop-in replacements for JavaMail). For other languages I haven't found anything appropriate either.
I'm curious about how other developers have gone about adding bulk mailing to their applications.
OK that's the worst title I could ever possibly think up. But I'm not too sure how to phrase it!
What I mean is, is it inefficient for the browser, search engine optimisation, or any other important factors, if programmatically my float:righted sidebar appears in the markup before the main content div, which is set to float:left?
To the user, the main content appears on the left, and the sidebar on the right. In the source code it appears like so:
<div id="sidebar">This is where my sidebar goes </div>
<div id="content">This is where my content goes </div>
Will this affect SEO or other factors in my page?
Hi,
I have installed "Damn Small Linux" on my home computer for doing C development in unix. But the distribution doesn't by default come with the C development environment and I am facing some issues when trying to install the gcc.
Is there any other small Linux distribution which by default has the required packages for the C development. And also I don't want additional software which takes up lot of space but still would like to have the graphical environment.
Thanks
I'm working on a new website that uses the Facebook API for users to login and several implementations of the graph Api.
My workflow usually is:
Development on localhost
Development using MAMP/XAMPP or similar software
Push to server - testing domain
A team of people can test the changes for a few days to see if everything works as planned.
Push to server - live domain
Changes are live for public
Facebook uses the site URL in the appsettings and for security reasons, they will only redirect to that url... Problem is.. I have localhost and 2 different domains. How can I make this work?
Ofcourse I could edit the hostsfile, but that only fixes it for localhost.. Still no solution for the testdomain.
Please tell me this is somehow possible! I'm getting more and more depressed with the Facebook API.
Considerations:
greatly prefer Python
want to build as little as possible myself (I suppose this is obvious)
prefer built-in or availability of add-on wiki and conferencing (nothing fancy)
need three levels of authentication: single 'super user', one administration user for each of several groups, individual 'ordinary' users authenticate to one of these groups
cron substitute à la Django or Zope would be nice, for keeping an RSS feed up-to-date, principally
hosting I use does not provide mod_wsgi, mod_python, etc.
Your thoughts, please.
How do you handle object equality for java objects managed by hibernate? In the 'hibernate in action' book they say that one should favor business keys over surrogate keys.
Most of the time, i do not have a business key. Think of addresses mapped to a person. The addresses are keeped in a Set and displayed in a Wicket RefreshingView (with a ReuseIfEquals strategy).
I could either use the surrogate id or use all fields in the equals() and hashCode() functions.
The problem is that those fields change during the lifetime ob the object. Either because the user entered some data or the id changes due to JPA merge() being called inside the OSIV (Open Session in View) filter.
My understanding of the equals() and hashCode() contract is that those should not change during the lifetime of an object.
What i have tried so far:
equals() based on hashCode() which uses the database id (or super.hashCode() if id is null). Problem: new addresses start with an null id but get an id when attached to a person and this person gets merged() (re-attached) in the osiv-filter.
lazy compute the hashcode when hashCode() is first called and make that hashcode @Transitional. Does not work, as merge() returns a new object and the hashcode does not get copied over.
What i would need is an ID that gets assigned during object creation I think. What would be my options here? I don't want to introduce some additional persistent property. Is there a way to explicitly tell JPA to assign an ID to an object?

They have asks to turn off caching on our browsers. I was aghast that they would ask such a thing.
I said to them;
To avoid caching it is best practice to use;
<meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache" />
<meta http-equiv="cache-control" content="no-cache" />
This should work across all browsers.
Their reply was;
We need to refresh javascript at runtime, this will not help us – any more ideas?
I replied;
Unsure what you mean by “refresh javascript at runtime”.
If you are using ajax, browser caching can effect the XMLHttpRequest open method.
Adding these meta tags to the source has fixed this for me in the past.
Browser caching only caches resources, it should have no effect on site scripting.
These meta tags will bypass browser caching.
This is a reasonable request, isn't it?
I have this code-
/**
Save the web view as a screenshot. Currently only supports saving to
the photo library.
/
- (void)saveScreenshot:(NSArray)arguments withDict:(NSDictionary*)options
{
CGRect screenRect = [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds];
CGRect imageRect = CGRectMake(0, 0, CGRectGetWidth(screenRect),
CGRectGetHeight(screenRect));
UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(imageRect.size);
[webView.layer renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()];
UIImage *viewImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext();
UIGraphicsEndImageContext();
UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum(viewImage, self, nil, nil);
UIAlertView *alert= [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:nil
message:@"Image Saved" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK"
otherButtonTitles:nil];
[alert show];
[alert release];
}
This is for saving whatever you drew in my app. How would I add the button for this in the HTML code. How do i call from it?
