  • Pass logger instance to class

    - by mridang
Hi Guys, I'm using a open-source Python library in my project. This library logs a lot of information using the logging class. ...but I can't see the output or log it to file. I know that i would have to create a logger instance and add a file-handler or a console-handler to it but how can i pass this logger instance to the class? Here's the init snippet of the class that I'm going to be using. class Periscope: ''' Main Periscope class''' def __init__(self): self.config = ConfigParser.SafeConfigParser({"lang": "en"}) if is_local: self.config_file = os.path.join(bd.xdg_config_home, "periscope", "config") if not os.path.exists(self.config_file): folder = os.path.dirname(self.config_file) if not os.path.exists(folder): logging.info("Creating folder %s" %folder) os.mkdir(folder) logging.info("Creating config file") configfile = open(self.config_file, "w") self.config.write(configfile) configfile.close() else: #Load it self.config.read(self.config_file) self.pluginNames = self.listExistingPlugins() self._preferedLanguages = None Any help? Thanks guys.

  • Questions about my program and Polymorphism

    - by Strobe_
Ok, so basically I'm creating a program which allows the user to select a shape (triangle, square, circle) and then it takes in a int and calculates the boundary length and area. I have no problem doing this and have a program that's working perfectly. (https://gist.github.com/anonymous/c63a03c129560a7b7434 4 classes) But now I have to implement this with polymorphism concepts and I'm honestly struggling as to how to do it. I have a basic idea of what I want to do when it comes to inheritance Main | Shapes / | \ triangle circle square But I don't understand how I'm supposed to override when all the methods within the triangle/square/circle classes are unique, there are no "abstract" methods as such that I could inherit from the "Shapes" class. If somebody could make look quickly at the code I linked and suggest a way to do this it would be much appreciated. Sorry if I was bad at explaining this. Thanks.

  • How can I programmatically construct the object reference?

    - by Bryan
Lets just say that I have three textboxes: TextBox1, TextBox2, TextBox3. Normally if I wanted to change the text for example I would put TextBox1.Text = "Whatever" and so on. For what I'm doing right now I would like to something like (TextBox & "i").Text. That obviously isn't the syntax I need to use I'm just using it as an example for what I need to do. So how can I do something like this? The main reason I'm doing this is to reduce code with a loop. Please keep in mind that I'm not actually changing the text of the textboxes I'm simply using that as an example to get the point across.

  • AudioRecord doesn't work for Motorola Milestone

    - by hcpl
I'm having this problem only on Motorola Milestone. Code: // init recorder recordInstance = new AudioRecord(MediaRecorder.AudioSource.MIC, 8000, AudioFormat.CHANNEL_CONFIGURATION_MONO, AudioFormat.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT, 8000); recordInstance.startRecording(); //more code here recordInstance.stop(); The errorinformation I have (can't find more for the moment since I don't have a milestone myself for debugging): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception java.lang.IllegalStateException: stop() called on an uninitialized AudioRecord. at android.media.AudioRecord.stop(AudioRecord.java:51 6) Apparantly I'm not the only one with this problem. Some very similar threads I found (without solution): http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/6dd24aeb484b2e40 http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f2/problem-using-audiorecord-in-motorola-milestone-30935/ http://community.developer.motorola.com/t5/Android-App-Development-for/Problem-using-AudioRecord-on-Milestone-device/m-p/3889 http://www.fring.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16194

  • Illegal instruction gcc assembler.

    - by Bernt
In assembler: .globl _test _test: pushl %ebp movl %esp, %ebp movl $0, %eax pushl %eax popl %ebp ret Calling from c main() { _test(); } Compile: gcc -m32 -o test test.c test.s This code gives me illegal instruction sometimes and segment fault other times. In gdc i always get illegal instruction, this is just a simple test, i had a larger program that was working and suddenly after no apperant reason stopped working, now i always get this error even if i start from scratch like above. I have narrowed it down to pushl %eax (or any other register....), if i comment out that line the code runs fine. Any ideas? (I'm running the program at my universities linux cluster, so I have not changed any settings..)

  • iPhone Input with Stacked Views

    - by Forrest
Hi, I've got a situation in an iphone application where buttons are not receiving input as I expect. Here's the setup: ViewMain - The main view full of various images and labels ViewOverlay - A HUD like overlay view with two UIButton objects. To create my scene I do the following: viewController.view = ViewMain [ViewMain addsubview:ViewOverlay] This view renders as expected, with ViewOverlay correctly rendered ontop of ViewMain. However the two buttons found inside ViewOverlay do not receive touch events and can not be pressed. Tapping them does nothing at all. I very well may be going about this in the entirely wrong direction. Any ideas?

  • Self-referential ReferenceProperty in Google App Engine

    - by Ink-Jet
I'm having a bit of trouble with ReferencePropertys in App Engine (Python). For a bit of fun, I'm trying to model a folder/file system, but having trouble getting folders to reference folders. My first attempt was this: class Folder(db.Model): id = db.StringProperty() name = db.StringProperty() created = db.DateTimeProperty(auto_now_add=True) folder = db.ReferenceProperty(Folder, collection_name="folders") But that fails as "Folder" isn't defined when "folder" is trying to be defined. I've also tried defining "folder" outside of the main declaration for "Folder", like so: class Folder(db.Model): id = db.StringProperty() name = db.StringProperty() created = db.DateTimeProperty(auto_now_add=True) Folder.folder = db.ReferenceProperty(Folder, collection_name="folders") But that fails with: AttributeError: 'Folder' object has no attribute 'folders' I'm kind of stumped. Does anyone have experience with this, or a solution to this problem? Thanks in advance.

  • How do you use C++0x raw strings with GCC 4.5?

    - by Rob N
This page says that GCC 4.5 has C++ raw string literals: http://gcc.gnu.org/projects/cxx0x.html But when I try to use the syntax from this page: http://www2.research.att.com/~bs/C++0xFAQ.html#raw-strings #include <iostream> #include <string> using namespace std; int main() { string s = R"[\w\\\w]"; } I get this error: /opt/local/bin/g++-mp-4.5 -std=gnu++0x -O3 rawstr.cc -o rawstr rawstr.cc:9:19: error: invalid character '\' in raw string delimiter rawstr.cc:9:5: error: stray 'R' in program What is the right syntax for raw strings?

  • How to read GPU (graphic card) temperature?

    - by mr.b
I am interested in a way how to read GPU temperature (graphics processing unit, main chip of graphic card), by using some video card driver API? Everyone knows that there two different chip manufacturers (popular ones, at least) - ATI and nVIDIA - so there are two different kinds of drivers to read temperature from. I'm interested in learning how to do it for each different card driver. Language in question is irrelevant - it could be C/C++, .NET platform, Java, but let's say that .NET is preferred. Anyone been doing this before?

  • Programatically Start OSGi (Equinox)?

    - by javamonkey79
I'd like to be able to easily start an OSGi framework (preferably Equinox) and load up any bundles listed in my pom from a java main. Is this possible? If so, how? It seems like the pax tools would do this, but I can't seem to find any documentation indicating such. I know I can start up Equinox like so: BundleContext context = EclipseStarter.startup( ( new String[] { "-console" } ), null ); But I'd like to do more - like I said: load more bundles in, maybe start some services, etc.

  • How to store a function in a member of class? (Using function as callback)

    - by Dane
I want to store a function as a class member and call it inside the class? Pretty much like a callback function. My class draw a document but every document must drawn differently. So I want to assign a function (written outside of the class) into one of the members of the class and then call it when I want to draw the document. This function mostly is responsible for transforming objects according to each specific document. Here is my class: class CDocument { public: CDocument(); ~CDocument(); void *TransFunc(); } void Transform() { } int main() CDocument* Doc = new CDocument(); Doc->TransFunc = Transform(); } I know that this is probably simple question, but I couldn't find the answer by googling or searching SO.

  • "paste" listener on a SWT widget

    - by Fredrik
I have an application with a SWT widget, say a org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Text, and want to add some control to the paste function. The idea is that if the user can paste a string of IDs, I detect that, run some code and paste the object that corresponds to the IDs. So I'm looking for some "ClipBoardListener" of some sort to add to my widget, but that doesnt seem to exist. A keylistener would only trap the pastes done by key and then you would have to deal with different key combos for pasting in different OS's. Based on this java 1.2 question I tried subclassing the text class and override the inser method, but that didnt work Exception in thread "main" org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Subclassing not allowed Seemed like an ugly solution anyway.

  • Why does accessing a member of a malloced array of structs seg fault?

    - by WSkinner
I am working through Learn C The Hard Way and am stumped on something. I've written a simplified version of the problem I am running into to make it easier to get down to it. Here is the code: #include <stdlib.h> #define GROUP_SIZE 10 #define DATA_SIZE 64 struct Dummy { char *name; }; struct Group { struct Dummy **dummies; }; int main() { struct Group *group1 = malloc(sizeof(struct Group)); group1->dummies = malloc(sizeof(struct Dummy) * GROUP_SIZE); struct Dummy *dummy1 = group1->dummies[3]; // Why does this seg fault? dummy1->name = (char *) malloc(DATA_SIZE); return 0; } when I try to set the name pointer on one of my dummies I get a seg fault. Using valgrind it tells me this is uninitialized space. Why is this?

  • iPhone - Image overlay MapKit framework?

    - by Peter
I can see with iOS4 you can now tile an image on google maps (Been looking at the TileMap example from apple). This is great as this is what I want to do, but from what I can see I need to know the GEO reference of the image so I can raster the images with the appropriate zoom levels, etc. What I have is an artist image, which is a map of a specific area and I want to overlay this image on google maps. Am I missing something here, but can this be done with a none standard map and having different zoom levels? The main reason why I need to use google maps is because of the GPS functionality, so the user will know where they currently are on the map.

  • iPhone: One Object, One Thread

    - by GingerBreadMane
    On the iPhone, I would like to do some operations on an image in a separate thread. Rather than dealing with semiphores, locking, etc., I'd like to use the 'One Object, One Thread' method of safely writing this concurrent operation. I'm not sure what is the correct way to copy my object into a new thread so that the object is not accessed in the main thread. Do I use the 'copy' method? If so, do I do this before the thread or inside the thread? ... -(void)someMethod{ UIImage *myImage; [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(getRotatedImage:) toTarget:self withObject:myImage]; } -(void)getRotatedImage:(UIImage *)image{ ... ... UIImage *copiedImage = [image copy]; ... ... }
