In the Excel VBE, the Find Dialog box (CTRL-F) pops up half off screen at the bottom of screen. How do I control the Find window so it positions itself higher up on the screen ?
I have Ubuntu 10.04 inside windows vista.
I'm going to install Windows seven but i don't want to loose all the softwares i have downloaded.
how can i backup my Linux in an external device(HDD, DVD ...) and take it back to my hard-disk(I want to install it outside the windows if possible)
Is there any software doing this for me?
Is there a way where I can set vim to configure itself based on the filetype? So for example, text files have the equivalent of
:set spell
:syntax off
Where a C source file has
:syntax on
:smartindent on
Thanks for any help.
I am looking for a URL where i can download the Enterprise Edition of Oracle 11g.
I know that i can download the Standard Edition of 11g at Oracle's technet, but as i would like to use some of those enterprise options, which are disabled in standard, i would rather reinstall the enterprise software on our development server.
Im using a Intel X25-M 80G with the latest firmware. on XP /w using IDE and WIN7 using AHCI I get read speeds up to 250MB/S. But when running it with Server 2008 SP1 or SP2 on AHCI, I get read speeds around 180MB/S. Ive updated drivers for 2008, tested with writecache on/off.
Any input would be appreciated. thanks!
Hyper-Threading Technology makes a
single physical processor appear as two logical
processors; the physical execution resources are shared
and the architecture state is duplicated for the two
logical processors.
So, this means that there are two sets of basic registers such as Next Instruction Pointer, processor registers like AX, BX, CX etc physically embedded in the micro-processor chip,
OR they(arch. state) are made to look two sets by some low level duplication by software/OS.

Static files aren't being served (nginx 404). If I look in the access log it seems nginx is looking in /etc/nginx/html/static... rather than /srv/static/ as specified in the config.
I've no clue why it's doing this, any help would be hugely appreciated.
I have a problem with my computer turning on automatically. The power switch lights up and the fan keeps running. After a while, a single beep will be heard every minute or so but nothing will display on the monitor. In some cases it will completely turn on and suddenly shut off.
What is the problem and how can I fix it? This is a desktop computer running Windows XP.
Does anyone know how I can create an echo effect in real-time while singing on PC. Lets say I want to sing to an audience over IM and I want an echo/delay effect while I sing. Is there any software available?
Are there any good alternative wiki's to MediaWiki out there for a small business? Mostly we are just wanting to use it for documentation. MediaWiki is a fine (and slightly outdated) piece of software, but it doesn't even officially support basic things like controlling who has access to what page/article, which is an important feature for us.
I have the official Adobe x64 iFilter PDF plug-in and the FoxIt Software iFilter PDF plug-in installed, and neither one seems to be allowing me to index the contents of PDF files. So far, I've:
Added my data folder into the Indexing service configuration
Ensured that PDF files are configured to index "file properties and contents"
Rebuilt the index from scratch
But, when I search, I can only search for PDF file names, not the contents of them. Any ideas on how to debug this issue?
In Jeff Atwood's latest blog entry on Windows 7 he talks about getting people to move off Windows XP.
What, specifically, can be done in Windows 7 that cannot be done in Windows XP?
I'm not looking for usability or GUI improvements, unless they happen to significantly reduce the time that it takes to perform tasks that were previously prohibitively time consuming.
I'm trying to setup an apache http server with mod_wsgi on a windows machine, but when I start the service, it fails to launch.
In the Windows Event Log I get the following message:
The Apache2 service terminated with the following service-specific error:
Incorrect function.
In running a Windows 8 - 64 bits machine, with
Apache 2.0.64 32 bits
Python 2.7.8 32 bits
mod_wsgi 3.5 32 bits
I looked around the web, but all the problem but everywhere says that it's a problem with the architecture of thesoftware, but I already installed them all with the 32 bits version.
Today, I can not start Eclipse anymore. It worked fine yesterday, then I got a few Windows Updates before turning offthe computer.
When I start Eclipse 3.4 today, the UAC ask me for the Administrator password, and then the Eclipse Splash shows up for a short while, after that nothing more happens. And If I try to start Eclipse 3.5, the same thing happens except the UAC.
What can the problem be? How can I solve this?
When I setup sql2005 this problem appear Minimum Hardware Requirement (Warning) Messages Minimum Hardware Requirement

now i would install it over ubuntu, how?
toast for all
This is almost certainly a dumb question, but... say I have Windows 7, with some anti-virus software installed, and I am using Microsoft's Windows XP Mode to run some legacy applications as well. Is there any reason why I would want to install an anti-virus program in XP mode as well?
We are running a payments (EFT transaction processing) application which is processing high volumes of transactions 24/7 and are currently investigating a better way of doing DB replication to our disaster recovery site.
Our current and previous strategies have included using both DoubleTake and Redgate to replicate data to a warm stand-by.
DoubleTake is the supported solution from the payments software vendor however their (DoubleTake's) support in South Africa is very poor. We had a few issues and simply couldn't ever resolve them so we had to give up on DoubleTake.
We have been using Redgate to manually read the data from the primary site (via queries) and write to the DR site but this is:
A bad solution
Getting thesoftware vendor hot and bothered whenever we have support issues as it has a tendency to interfere with the payment application which is very DB intensive.
We recently upgraded the whole system to run on SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise which means we should probably be looking at using some of the built-in replication features.
The server has 2 fairly large databases with a mixture of tables containing highly volatile transactional data and pretty static configuration data.
Replication would be done over a WAN link to a separate physical site and needs to achieve the following objectives.
RPO: Zero loss - This is transactional data with financial impact so we can't lose anything.
RTO: Tending to zero - The business depends on our ability to process transactions every minute we are down we are losing money
I have looked at a few of the other questions/answers but none meet our case exactly:
SQL Server 2008 failover strategy - Log shipping or replication?
How to achieve the following RTO & RPO with logshipping only using SQL Server?
What is the best of two approaches to achieve DB Replication?
My current thinking is that we should use mirroring but I am concerned that for RPO:0 we will need to do delayed commits and this could impact the performance of the primary DB which is not an option.
Our current DR process is to:
Stop incoming traffic to the primary site and allow all in-flight transaction to complete.
Allow the replication to DR to complete.
Change network routing to route to DR site.
Start all applications and services on the secondary site (Ideally we can change this to a warmer stand-by whereby the applications are already running but not processing any transactions).
In other words the DR database needs to, as quickly as possible, catch up with primary and be ready for processing as the new primary. We would then need to be able to reverse this when we are ready to switch back.
Is there a better option than mirroring (should we be doing log-shipping too) and can anyone suggest other considerations that we should keep in mind?
I'm looking to install Lubuntu 10.04 onto my flash drive to test it out without the risk of altering my system which runs Windows 7. I think I need what is called a "persistant install", so that Lubuntu will run off of my flash drive and any changes made will stay there, unlike the demo feature of the CD.
I am sure my Windows Server 2008 box is constantly under attack both at the network level and web application level.
QUestion is How do i detect these attacks? is there any light-weight software available? which can monitor the server?
Note I am running this on a VPS so the monitor program will have to run on the same server.
I would like to host both Tomcat and PHP on port 80 on Linux and I have 2 IP addresses available.
I am only using PHP so that I can host some mailing list software, I can map it to newsletter.mydomain.com. So my question is, is it possible to run Tomcat on port 80 on 1 IP address and Apache on port 80 on another IP address?
Is it possible to update WXP using a batch script? Basically, I would like to run a batch script, which installs all important updates in the background accepting any dialog boxes which need user interaction.
EDIT 1:
I know I can enable the "Automatically download and install" option to do this, but I have about 100 computers to do, so it would be nice if it can be done via a batch file. That way, I can use thesoftware we already have to run a batch file on all computers with a single click.
Win 7 Pro SP1 x64

Geforce Driver: 320.49, it did happen with the previous version of the driver as well
Chrome Version 28.0.1500.52 beta-m

I was looking in chrome://gpu which told me that "Rasterization: Software only. Hardware acceleration disabled." and further down "Accelerated rasterization has not been enabled or is not supported by the current system."
Is there a way to enable hardware acceleration?
I have set up a single laptop (I have 10 of these exact models) for a demonstration next week. I want to copy the configuration (Fedora 13 with thesoftware for demonstration) to the 9 other machines. Is this simply a dd operation? I may be thinking that I require more than what is really needed.
Thanks for the assistance!
I have an FTP connection active through the Map Network Drive option in Windows 7 64-bit.
When navigating the remote directory, I see no way to edit files. Windows is completely ignoring file-type associations and "opens" everything with my default browser.
Is there any way that I can simply edit these files?
I'm open to suggestions of other software as well, but from what I can see, NetDrive doesn't work with 64-bit.
