  • Which free and open source frameworks would you recommend for replacing which aspect of ATG

    - by Vihung
ATG (http://www.atg.com) is a frameowrk, a platform and a solution for content presentation and management, personalisation, e-commerce and customer relationship management. Which free and open source frameworks or products would you recommend to replace the basic functionality it provides? In the spirit of Stack Overflow, can you answer with one item in each answer and use the voting rather than duplicating someone else's answer. I have started with some answers

  • Delphi - most successful applications developed

    - by Juraj Blahunka
Can you name famous, successful applications, applications in development, future applications, that are developed with Delphi? The kind of applications that you use everyday is encouraged. Some of i know: Total Commander TopStyle Skype PHP Designer edit I'm not very interested in listing of applications taken from google. Just the kind of apps that you really find useful and are fond of. (and of course are programmed with delphi :))

  • How to give focus to default program of shell-opened file, from Java ?

    - by Rabarberski
From within Java, I am opening an Excel file with the default file handler (MS Excel, in this case :-) ) using the method described in this stackoverflow question: Desktop dt = Desktop.getDesktop(); dt.open(new File(filename)); However, the Excel program doesn't get the focus. Is there any easy way to do so? Edit: There is a related stackoverflow question for C#, but I didn't find any similar Java method.

  • Facebook android app keeps crashing even though there are no errors in my code. Why?

    - by user1554479
If you import the facebook SDK library, the code works (ignore the deprecated methods for now lol) and there are no errors or warnings. However, when I run my facebook app on my Android 2.2 or 4.2 emulator, the app crashes either upon opening or after the log on screen. Why? Is it because I'm not implementing Async Task? If so, how does that work? Here's my code: package com.sara.facebookappl; import java.io.IOException; import java.net.MalformedURLException; import java.net.URL; import org.json.JSONException; import org.json.JSONObject; import Now if I click again on it the animation doesnt start no more. any clue?

My error reporting is on and I get unrelated errors. What could this be?! Thanks!

  • How to read a column in a tab-delimited Excel file in C#?

    - by janejanejane
I have some data of an excel file below. At first, I figured that reading from the file could be done using the Excel Library then using an OLEDB connection. I managed to get the DocumentNo column data with the OLEDB approach. However, when the excel file is closed, I am unable to do the operation because it gives an error that "External table is not in the expected format." How can I read from the file even if it is closed? 10/4/2010 Paid Documents for Document Tracking - Customer 1 Paid Documents for Document Tracking - Customer CoCd Customer Trans.type SG Clearing Clrng doc. • Is it a good idea to use .Net for commercial software?

    - by user146780
I was playing around with .Net reflector today and realized that Miicrosoft's entire Expression suite is written in .Net. As a result I was pretty much able to see the underlying code for expression. This makes it far easier than binary to break copy protection. I think that that's a big deal. Is it generally recommended to make commercial software in .Net where it is fairly easy to see the source code down to the variable names? I was surprised that Microsoft didn't at least dotfescate it. Thanks

  • Overriding iPhone shutter sound through SDK

    - by Suresh
In my iPhone app, I am using the UIImagePickerController with source type UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera. When the user takes a picture, the phone plays the familiar camera shutter sound. How can I replace this with my own custom sound? I know it's possible because I've seen other apps from the App Store do it (e.g. Red Laser). Thanks in advance!

  • Interpolating height for a point inside a grid based on a discrete height function.

    - by fastrack20
Hi, I have been wracking my brain to come up with a solution to this problem. I have a lookup table that returns height values for various points (x,z) on the grid. For instance I can calculate the height at A, B, C and D in Figure 1. However, I am looking for a way to interpolate the height at P (which has a known (x,z)). The lookup table only has values at the grid intervals, and P lies between these intervals. I am trying to calculate values s and t such that: A'(s) = A + s(C-A) B'(t) = B + t(P-B) I would then use the these two equations to find the intersection point of B'(t) with A'(s) to find a point X on the line A-C. With this I can calculate the height at this point X and with that the height at point P. My issue lies in calculating the values for s and t. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Mobile App integrating with Web portal

    - by Shine
I'm planning to develop a city info site. The web pages will display contents from a constantly updating MySQL database- most probably using a CMS. I am planning to share the same database for a Mobile app related to this. In the pages there are options for using geolocation, rate and comment for the user. I think, this mobile app should work while it's offline too. So how should i deal with data for mobile? Should i use a connection between MySQL and IndexedDB? (I'm not quite sure about this part). Appreciating your time & help.

  • Some questions about dotnetopenauth

    - by chobo2
Hi I have a couple outstanding questions mainly reguarding twitter and facebook In the FacebookGraph class there are properties such as Id,name, etc. I am wondering how do I add to this list? Like what happens if I want a users hometown? I tried to add a property called hometown but it always is null. What should I store their id(1418) or the whole url(http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1418) for lookup later in my db to grab their data and to see if they have an account with my site? Is it actually good to use this id as it seems like it is common knowledge. Can't someone just find the profile id or whatever and do a fake request on my site? how do you setup dotnetopenauth to deal with the case when a user goes to facebook and deletes access to my website. I know you can send a deauthorization code to your site and then delete their account but I don't know how to do that through dotnetopenauth Twitter Is it possible to do number 4 with twitter? Ajax Is it possible to make the openid stuff ajax? I don't see a sample anywhere in the dotnetopenauth samples.

  • does Apple allow template style apps to pass review?

    - by user1159677
I have an app which will go to our clients and then they can have their clients install it. Meaning there would be multiple versions of the master app but with customization per client. example 200 of our clients get the master app and then can customize it (text and images only via web) Will Apple allow something like this? Is there another way to get around this distribution model? I guess a good example of it would be a real estate agent having an app that's customized and on the app store but it's still Brand XYZ's app. thanks in advance

  • Is it possible to hide columns in jQuery Grid by default?

    - by Toran Billups
I have been working with the jQuery Grid the past few days and one thing I have not found any documentation on yet is the ability to hide a column by default. The reason I want this is that I'm building my JSON w/ every property of my object yet my grid might only show 75% of these as valid columns. I want the ability to pass back more JSON than I actually use, and one way I thought to accomplish this would be to hide the columns I'm not using. Any other suggestions are welcome, but I would prefer the ability to push down a larger list of JSON than I actually use by default.

  • How do I connect two apps

    - by sevaxx
I am considering building an app in C++ that will be parsing text from the web and create some statistical results. These results I want to be fed in an external app in real time. The external app (to whose code I have no access, but can ask for a - paid - custom made addition) will then need some code to read and use these results. I am wondering what would be the best way to interconnect the two apps, in terms of speed and ease of implementation. I am considering : disk I/O (slow) a Windows service a DLL a web service a web page Perhaps I am missing a better solution ? Thank you.

  • iPhone development - app design patterns

    - by occulus
There are tons of resources concerning coding on the iPhone. Most of them concern "how do I do X", e.g. "setup a navigation controller", or "download text from a URL". All good and fine. What I'm more interested in now are the questions that follow the simpler stuff - how to best structure your complex UI, or your app, or the common problems that arise. To illustrate: a book like "Beginning iPhone 3 Development" tells you how to set up a multi viewcontroller app with an top 'switcher' viewcontroller that switches between views owned by other view controllers. Fine, but you're only told how to do that, and nothing about the problems that can follow: for example, if I use their paradigm to switch to a UINavigationViewController, the Navigation bar ends up too low on the screen, because UINavigationViewController expects to be the topmost UIViewController (apparently). Also, delegate methods (e.g. relating to orientation changes) go to the top switcher view controller, not the actual controller responsible for the current view. I have fixes for these things but they feel like hacks which makes me unhappy and makes me feel like I'm missing something. One productive thing might be to look at some open source iPhone projects (see this question). But aside from that?
