  • Why does OpenID look so hard to implement?

    - by user198729
I read through this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/741345/how-do-i-implement-direct-identity-based-openid-authentication-with-zend-openid Why does it look so complicated to implement? IMO, it's just to send request to a remote site and retrieve the response. What's the problem those OpenID libraries are dealing with?

  • Creating a "virtual" path (/bla) in Mac OS X and Linux that calls custom code

    - by Michael Stum
Just something I'd like to play with, I would like to create a "virtual" file/directory in the File System of Linux or Mac OS X (Not sure if I can share the same code - does POSIX help?), for example /foo and then perform custom code when something is read or written to it. Similar how /dev/null allows for stuff like echo "Hello!" > /dev/null I don't care if it's in /dev, /proc or anywhere else, as said it's mainly something to play with...

  • Encrypted HTML page without HTTPS

    - by Tichomir Mitkov
I have a Perl script to open this page http://svejo.net/popular/all/new/ and filter the names of the posts but except headers everything seems encrypted. Nothing can be read. When I open the same page in a browser everything looks fine including the source code. How is it possible to encrypt a page for a script and not for a browser? My Perl script sends the same headers as my browser (Google Chrome).

  • How can I use the eclipse indenter from my code?

    - by Geo
I noticed the eclipse indenter has support for the latest version of java, and it would be nice if I could use that class to indent generated java source code. Is there a way of integrating it ? EDIT: I need to be able to include the code formatter in my code. No external calls. EDIT2: I've managed to get it working. You can read the story here. Thanks VonC !

  • MP3 and OGG tags in PHP

    - by Quamis
Except http://us3.php.net/manual/en/book.ktaglib.php and http://getid3.sourceforge.net/ does anyone know of any other way to work from PHP with tags on audio files? I need to read and write them, and KTagLib seems a little too much for the job, and also don't really get the documentation, and getID3 seems to only write ID3v1 tags.

  • Why can't my function access a variable in an enclosing function?

    - by nailer
I know about the LEGB rule. But a simple test of whether a function has read access to variables defined in an enclosing function doesn't seem to actually work. Ie: #!/usr/bin/env python2.4 '''Simple test of Python scoping rules''' def myfunction(): print 'Hope this works: '+myvariable def enclosing(): myvariable = 'ooh this worked' myfunction() if __name__ == '__main__': enclosing() Returns: NameError: global name 'myvariable' is not defined Am I doing something wrong? Is there more to it than the LEGB resolution order?

  • Is or Are to prefix boolean values

    - by Brian T
When naming a boolean, or a function returning a boolean it's usual to prefix with 'is' e.g. isPointerNull isShapeSquare What about when refering to multiple items, should it be: arePointersNull or isPointersNull areShapesNull or isShapesNull I can see arguments for both; is offers consistency and perhaps slightly better readability, are makes the code read in a more natural way. Any opinions?

  • How to set session timeout dinamically in java web applications?

    - by Jonathas Carrijo
Hi, I need to give my user a web interface to change the session timeout interval. So, each installation of the application might have different timeouts for their sessions, but they web.xml cannot be different. Is there a way to set the session timeout programatically, so that I could use, say, ServletContextListener.contextInitialized() to read the configured interval and set it upon application startup? Thanks a lot.

  • Finding all CLASSPATH resources matching a pattern

    - by binil
I want to read a bunch of text files, by loading them as resources using the context classloader. URL url = Thread.currentThread() .getContextClassloader() .getResource("folder/foo.txt"); Is there some way to get a list of resources whose names match a given pattern? For eg: URL[] matchingUrls = someLibrary.getMatchingResources("folder/*.txt"); Libraries like Spring can scan the classpath to find classes with a given annotation, so I am wondering if there something similar to load a bunch of resources.

  • Unnecessary code...

    - by Martin Milan
Suppose I have some code that looks like this: Private Sub MySub() dim blnFlag as Boolean blnFlag = False for each item in collection if item.Name = "Mike" then blnFound = true exit for endif next item End Sub Now - the blnFLag = False assignment is not actually necessary - booleans are initialised as false, but I think it's inclusion makes the code easier to read. What's your opinion?

  • What is the most performant 2D graphics engine for use with Android?

    - by nbolton
I have managed to make a hello world JBox2D application, and it works (I have some bouncing balls). However, I just read a comment on a forum post, which claims that JBox2D produces a lot of garbage, and so causes animation to be poor. Is this true? If yes, then what other 2D engines are available to me? I would very much like to use a physics engine for my 2D game, even if it's just a very simple one.
