  • FreeBSD 8.1 unstable network connection

    - by frankcheong
I have three FreeBSD 8.1 running on three different hardware and therefore consist of different network adapter as well (bce, bge and igb). I found that the network connection is kind of unstable which I have tried to scp some 10MB file and found that I cannot always get the files completed successfully. I have further checked with my network admin and he claim that the problem is being caused by the network driver which cannot support the load whereby he tried to ping using huge packet size (around 15k) and my server will drop packet consistently at a regular interval. I found that this statement may not be valid since the three server is using three different network drive and it would be quite impossible that the same problem is being caused by three different network adapter and thus different network driver. Since then I have tried to tune up the performance by playing around with the /etc/sysctl.conf figures with no luck. kern.ipc.somaxconn=1024 kern.ipc.shmall=3276800 kern.ipc.shmmax=1638400000 # Security net.inet.ip.redirect=0 net.inet.ip.sourceroute=0 net.inet.ip.accept_sourceroute=0 net.inet.icmp.maskrepl=0 net.inet.icmp.log_redirect=0 net.inet.icmp.drop_redirect=1 net.inet.tcp.drop_synfin=1 # Security net.inet.udp.blackhole=1 net.inet.tcp.blackhole=2 # Required by pf net.inet.ip.forwarding=1 #Network Performance Tuning kern.ipc.maxsockbuf=16777216 net.inet.tcp.rfc1323=1 net.inet.tcp.sendbuf_max=16777216 net.inet.tcp.recvbuf_max=16777216 # Setting specifically for 1 or even 10Gbps network net.local.stream.sendspace=262144 net.local.stream.recvspace=262144 net.inet.tcp.local_slowstart_flightsize=10 net.inet.tcp.nolocaltimewait=1 net.inet.tcp.mssdflt=1460 net.inet.tcp.sendbuf_auto=1 net.inet.tcp.sendbuf_inc=16384 net.inet.tcp.recvbuf_auto=1 net.inet.tcp.recvbuf_inc=524288 net.inet.tcp.sendspace=262144 net.inet.tcp.recvspace=262144 net.inet.udp.recvspace=262144 kern.ipc.maxsockbuf=16777216 kern.ipc.nmbclusters=32768 net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=1 net.inet.tcp.delacktime=100 net.inet.tcp.slowstart_flightsize=179 net.inet.tcp.inflight.enable=1 net.inet.tcp.inflight.min=6144 # Reduce the cache size of slow start connection net.inet.tcp.hostcache.expire=1 Our network admin also claim that they see quite a lot of network up and down from their cisco switch log while I cannot find any up down message inside the dmesg. • Command does not execute in crontab while command itself works just fine

    - by fuzzybee
I have this script from Colin Johnson on Github - https://github.com/colinbjohnson/aws-missing-tools/tree/master/ec2-automate-backup It seems great. I have modified it to send email to myself every time an EBS snapshot is created or deleted. The following works like a charm ec2-automate-backup.sh -v "vol-myvolumeid" -k 3 However, it does not execute at all as part of my crontab (I didn't receive any emails) #some command that got commented out */5 * * * * ec2-automate-backup.sh -v "vol-fb2fbcdf" -k 3; * * * * * date /root/logs/crontab.log; */5 * * * * date /root/logs/crontab2.log Please note that the 2nd and 3rd execute just fines as I can see the date and time in log files. What could I have missed here? The full ec2-automate-backup.sh is as follows: #!/bin/bash - # Author: Colin Johnson / [email protected] # Date: 2012-09-24 # Version 0.1 # License Type: GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE, Version 3 # #confirms that executables required for succesful script execution are available prerequisite_check() { for prerequisite in basename ec2-create-snapshot ec2-create-tags ec2-describe-snapshots ec2-delete-snapshot date do #use of "hash" chosen as it is a shell builtin and will add programs to hash table, possibly speeding execution. • jqgrid with asp.net webmethod and json working with sorting, paging, searching and LINQ

    - by aimlessWonderer
THIS WORKS! Most topics covering jqgrid and asp.net seem to relate to just receiving JSON, or working in the MVC framework, or utilizing other handlers or web services... but not many dealt with actually passing parameters back to an actual webmethod in the codebehind. Furthermore, scarce are the examples that contain successful implementation the AJAX paging, sorting, or searching along with LINQ to SQL for asp.net jqGrid. Below is a working example that may help others who need help to pass parameters to jqGrid in order to have correct paging, sorting, filtering.. it uses pieces from here and there... ================================================== First, THE JAVASCRIPT <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var grid = $("#list"); $("#list").jqGrid({ // setup custom parameter names to pass to server prmNames: { search: "isSearch", nd: null, rows: "numRows", page: "page", sort: "sortField", order: "sortOrder" }, // add by default to avoid webmethod parameter conflicts postData: { searchString: '', searchField: '', searchOper: '' }, // setup ajax call to webmethod datatype: function(postdata) { mtype: "GET", $.ajax({ url: 'PageName.aspx/getGridData', type: "POST", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", data: JSON.stringify(postdata), dataType: "json", success: function(data, st) { if (st == "success") { var grid = jQuery("#list")[0]; grid.addJSONData(JSON.parse(data.d)); } }, error: function() { alert("Error with AJAX callback"); } }); }, // this is what jqGrid is looking for in json callback jsonReader: { root: "rows", page: "page", total: "totalpages", records: "totalrecords", cell: "cell", id: "id", //index of the column with the PK in it userdata: "userdata", repeatitems: true }, colNames: ['Id', 'First Name', 'Last Name'], colModel: [ { name: 'id', index: 'id', width: 55, search: false }, { name: 'fname', index: 'fname', width: 200, searchoptions: { sopt: ['eq', 'ne', 'cn']} }, { name: 'lname', index: 'lname', width: 200, searchoptions: { sopt: ['eq', 'ne', 'cn']} } ], rowNum: 10, rowList: [10, 20, 30], pager: jQuery("#pager"), sortname: "fname", sortorder: "asc", viewrecords: true, caption: "Grid Title Here" }).jqGrid('navGrid', '#pager', { edit: false, add: false, del: false }, {}, // default settings for edit {}, // add {}, // delete { closeOnEscape: true, closeAfterSearch: true}, //search {} ) }); </script> ================================================== Second, THE C# WEBMETHOD [WebMethod] public static string getGridData(int? numRows, int? page, string sortField, string sortOrder, bool isSearch, string searchField, string searchString, string searchOper) { string result = null; MyDataContext db = null; try { //--- retrieve the data db = new MyDataContext("my connection string path"); var query = from u in db.TBL_USERs select u; //--- determine if this is a search filter if (isSearch) { searchOper = getOperator(searchOper); // need to associate correct operator to value sent from jqGrid string whereClause = String.Format("{0} {1} {2}", searchField, searchOper, "@" + searchField); //--- associate value to field parameter Dictionary<string, object> param = new Dictionary<string, object>(); param.Add("@" + searchField, searchString); query = query.Where(whereClause, new object[1] { param }); } //--- setup calculations int pageIndex = page ?? 1; //--- current page int pageSize = numRows ?? 10; //--- number of rows to show per page int totalRecords = query.Count(); //--- number of total items from query int totalPages = (int)Math.Ceiling((decimal)totalRecords / (decimal)pageSize); //--- number of pages //--- filter dataset for paging and sorting IQueryable<TBL_USER> orderedRecords = query.OrderBy(sortfield); IEnumerable<TBL_USER> sortedRecords = orderedRecords.ToList(); if (sortorder == "desc") sortedRecords= sortedRecords.Reverse(); sortedRecords= sortedRecords .Skip((pageIndex - 1) * pageSize) //--- page the data .Take(pageSize); //--- format json var jsonData = new { totalpages = totalPages, //--- number of pages page = pageIndex, //--- current page totalrecords = totalRecords, //--- total items rows = ( from row in sortedRecords select new { i = row.USER_ID, cell = new string[] { row.USER_ID.ToString(), row.FNAME.ToString(), row.LNAME } } ).ToArray() }; result = Newtonsoft.Json.JsonConvert.SerializeObject(jsonData); } catch (Exception ex) { Debug.WriteLine(ex); } finally { if (db != null) db.Dispose(); } return result; } ================================================== Third, NECESSITIES In order to have dynamic OrderBy clauses in the LINQ, I had to pull in a class to my AppCode folder called 'Dynamic.cs'. You can retrieve the file from downloading here. You will find the file in the "DynamicQuery" folder. That file will give you the ability to utilized dynamic ORDERBY clause since we don't know what column we're filtering by except on the initial load. To serialize the JSON back from the C-sharp to the JS, I incorporated the James Newton-King JSON.net DLL found here : http://json.codeplex.com/releases/view/37810. After downloading, there is a "Newtonsoft.Json.Compact.dll" which you can add in your Bin folder as a reference Here's my USING's block using System; using System.Collections; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Web.Services; using System.Linq.Dynamic; For the Javascript references, I'm using the following scripts in respective order in case that helps some folks: 1) jquery-1.3.2.min.js ... 2) jquery-ui-1.7.2.custom.min.js ... 3) json.min.js ... 4) i18n/grid.locale-en.js ... 5) jquery.jqGrid.min.js For the CSS, I'm using jqGrid's necessities as well as the jQuery UI Theme: 1) jquery_theme/jquery-ui-1.7.2.custom.css ... 2) ui.jqgrid.css The key to getting the parameters from the JS to the WebMethod without having to parse an unserialized string on the backend or having to setup some JS logic to switch methods for different numbers of parameters was this block postData: { searchString: '', searchField: '', searchOper: '' }, Those parameters will still be set correctly when you actually do a search and then reset to empty when you "reset" or want the grid to not do any filtering Hope this helps some others!!!! Please reply if you find major issues or ways of refactoring or doing better that I haven't considered.

  • How to reduce iOS AVPlayer start delay

    - by Bernt Habermeier
Note, for the below question: All assets are local on the device -- no network streaming is taking place. The videos contain audio tracks. I'm working on an iOS application that requires playing video files with minimum delay to start the video clip in question. Unfortunately we do not know what specific video clip is next until we actually need to start it up. Specifically: When one video clip is playing, we will know what the next set of (roughly) 10 video clips are, but we don't know which one exactly, until it comes time to 'immediately' play the next clip. What I've done to look at actual start delays is to call addBoundaryTimeObserverForTimes on the video player, with a time period of one millisecond to see when the video actually started to play, and I take the difference of that time stamp with the first place in the code that indicates which asset to start playing. From what I've seen thus-far, I have found that using the combination of AVAsset loading, and then creating an AVPlayerItem from that once it's ready, and then waiting for AVPlayerStatusReadyToPlay before I call play, tends to take between 1 and 3 seconds to start the clip. I've since switched to what I think is roughly equivalent: calling [AVPlayerItem playerItemWithURL:] and waiting for AVPlayerItemStatusReadyToPlay to play. Roughly same performance. One thing I'm observing is that the first AVPlayer item load is slower than the rest. Seems one idea is to pre-flight the AVPlayer with a short / empty asset before trying to play the first video might be of good general practice. [http://stackoverflow.com/questions/900461/slow-start-for-avaudioplayer-the-first-time-a-sound-is-played] I'd love to get the video start times down as much as possible, and have some ideas of things to experiment with, but would like some guidance from anyone that might be able to help. Update: idea 7, below, as-implemented yields switching times of around 500 ms. This is an improvement, but it it'd be nice to get this even faster. Idea 1: Use N AVPlayers (won't work) Using ~ 10 AVPPlayer objects and start-and-pause all ~ 10 clips, and once we know which one we really need, switch to, and un-pause the correct AVPlayer, and start all over again for the next cycle. I don't think this works, because I've read there is roughly a limit of 4 active AVPlayer's in iOS. There was someone asking about this on StackOverflow here, and found out about the 4 AVPlayer limit: fast-switching-between-videos-using-avfoundation Idea 2: Use AVQueuePlayer (won't work) I don't believe that shoving 10 AVPlayerItems into an AVQueuePlayer would pre-load them all for seamless start. AVQueuePlayer is a queue, and I think it really only makes the next video in the queue ready for immediate playback. I don't know which one out of ~10 videos we do want to play back, until it's time to start that one. ios-avplayer-video-preloading Idea 3: Load, Play, and retain AVPlayerItems in background (not 100% sure yet -- but not looking good) I'm looking at if there is any benefit to load and play the first second of each video clip in the background (suppress video and audio output), and keep a reference to each AVPlayerItem, and when we know which item needs to be played for real, swap that one in, and swap the background AVPlayer with the active one. Rinse and Repeat. The theory would be that recently played AVPlayer/AVPlayerItem's may still hold some prepared resources which would make subsequent playback faster. So far, I have not seen benefits from this, but I might not have the AVPlayerLayer setup correctly for the background. I doubt this will really improve things from what I've seen. Idea 4: Use a different file format -- maybe one that is faster to load? I'm currently using .m4v's (video-MPEG4) H.264 format. I have not played around with other formats, but it may well be that some formats are faster to decode / get ready than others. Possible still using video-MPEG4 but with a different codec, or maybe quicktime? Maybe a lossless video format where decoding / setup is faster? Idea 5: Combination of lossless video format + AVQueuePlayer If there is a video format that is fast to load, but maybe where the file size is insane, one idea might be to pre-prepare the first 10 seconds of each video clip with a version that is boated but faster to load, but back that up with an asset that is encoded in H.264. Use an AVQueuePlayer, and add the first 10 seconds in the uncompressed file format, and follow that up with one that is in H.264 which gets up to 10 seconds of prepare/preload time. So I'd get 'the best' of both worlds: fast start times, but also benefits from a more compact format. Idea 6: Use a non-standard AVPlayer / write my own / use someone else's Given my needs, maybe I can't use AVPlayer, but have to resort to AVAssetReader, and decode the first few seconds (possibly write raw file to disk), and when it comes to playback, make use of the raw format to play it back fast. Seems like a huge project to me, and if I go about it in a naive way, it's unclear / unlikely to even work better. Each decoded and uncompressed video frame is 2.25 MB. Naively speaking -- if we go with ~ 30 fps for the video, I'd end up with ~60 MB/s read-from-disk requirement, which is probably impossible / pushing it. Obviously we'd have to do some level of image compression (perhaps native openGL/es compression formats via PVRTC)... but that's kind crazy. Maybe there is a library out there that I can use? Idea 7: Combine everything into a single movie asset, and seekToTime One idea that might be easier than some of the above, is to combine everything into a single movie, and use seekToTime. The thing is that we'd be jumping all around the place. Essentially random access into the movie. I think this may actually work out okay: avplayer-movie-playing-lag-in-ios5 Which approach do you think would be best? So far, I've not made that much progress in terms of reducing the lag.

  • Java: immutability, overuse of stack -- better data structure?

    - by HH
I overused hashSets but it was slow, then changed to Stacks, speed boost-up. Poly's reply uses Collections.emptyList() as immutable list, cutting out excess null-checkers. No Collections.emptyStack(). Combining the words stack and immutability, from the last experiences, gets "immutable stack" (probably not related to functional prog). Java Api 5 for list interface shows that Stack is an implementing class for list and arraylist, here. The java.coccurrent pkg does not have any immutable Stack data structure. • UITableViewController and viewForHeaderInSection problems

    - by Fiona
Hello, So I need your help please! I've created a UITableViewController: ContactDetailViewController. In IB in the nib file, I've added a view ahead of the table view and hooked it up to headerView - a UIView declared in the .h file. I've also created a view: CustomerHeaderView However when I run the code below, Its throwing an exception at the following line: headerView = [[UIView alloc] initWithNibName:@"ContactHeaderDetail" bundle:nil]; The error being thrown is: 2010-05-20 10:59:50.405 OnePageCRM[19620:20b] * -[UIView initWithNibName:bundle:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3ca4fa0 2010-05-20 10:59:50.406 OnePageCRM[19620:20b] Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '** -[UIView initWithNibName:bundle:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3ca4fa0' So any ideas anyone? • Getting started with Exchange Web Services 2010

    - by Adam Tuttle
I've been tasked with writing a SOAP web-service in .Net to be middleware between EWS2010 and an application server that previously used WebDAV to connect to Exchange. (As I understand it, WebDAV is going away with EWS2010, so the application server will no longer be able to connect as it previously did, and it is exponentially harder to connect to EWS without WebDAV. The theory is that doing it in .Net should be easier than anything else... Right?!) My end goal is to be able to get and create/update email, calendar items, contacts, and to-do list items for a specified Exchange account. (Deleting is not currently necessary, but I may build it in for future consideration, if it's easy enough). I was originally given some sample code, which did in fact work, but I quickly realized that it was outdated. The types and classes used appear nowhere in the current documentation. For example, the method used to create a connection to the Exchange server was: ExchangeService svc = new ExchangeService(); svc.Credentials = new WebCredentials(AuthEmailAddress, AuthEmailPassword); svc.AutodiscoverUrl(AutoDiscoverEmailAddress); For what it's worth, this was using an assembly that came with the sample code: Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.dll ("MEWS"). Before I realized that this wasn't the current standard way to accomplish the connection, and it worked, I tried to build on it and add a method to create calendar items, which I copied from here: static void CreateAppointment(ExchangeServiceBinding esb) { // Create the appointment. CalendarItemType appointment = new CalendarItemType(); ... } Right away, I'm confronted with the difference between ExchangeService and ExchangeServiceBinding ("ESB"); so I started Googling to try and figure out how to get an ESB definition so that the CreateAppointment method will compile. I found this blog post that explains how to generate a proxy class from a WSDL, which I did. Unfortunately, this caused some conflicts where types that were defined in the original Assembly, Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.dll (that came with the sample code) overlapped with Types in my new EWS.dll assembly (which I compiled from the code generated from the services.wsdl provided by the Exchange server). I excluded the MEWS assembly, which only made things worse. I went from a handful of errors and warnings to 25 errors and 2,510 warnings. All kinds of types and methods were not found. Something is clearly wrong, here. So I went back on the hunt. I found instructions on adding service references and web references (i.e. the extra steps it takes in VS2008), and I think I'm back on the right track. I removed (actually, for now, just excluded) all previous assemblies I had been trying; and I added a service reference for https://my.exchange-server.com/ews/services.wsdl Now I'm down to just 1 error and 1 warning. Warning: The element 'transport' cannot contain child element 'extendedProtectionPolicy' because the parent element's content model is empty. This is in reference to a change that was made to web.config when I added the service reference; and I just found a fix for that here on SO. I've commented that section out as indicated, and it did make the warning go away, so woot for that. The error hasn't been so easy to get around, though: Error: The type or namespace name 'ExchangeService' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) This is in reference to the function I was using to create the EWS connection, called by each of the web methods: private ExchangeService getService(String AutoDiscoverEmailAddress, String AuthEmailAddress, String AuthEmailPassword) { ExchangeService svc = new ExchangeService(); svc.Credentials = new WebCredentials(AuthEmailAddress, AuthEmailPassword); svc.AutodiscoverUrl(AutoDiscoverEmailAddress); return svc; } This function worked perfectly with the MEWS assembly from the sample code, but the ExchangeService type is no longer available. (Nor is ExchangeServiceBinding, that was the first thing I checked.) At this point, since I'm not following any directions from the documentation (I couldn't find anywhere in the documentation that said to add a service reference to your Exchange server's services.wsdl -- but that does seem to be the best/farthest I've gotten so far), I feel like I'm flying blind. I know I need to figure out whatever it is that should replace ExchangeService / ExchangeServiceBinding, implement that, and then work through whatever errors crop up as a result of that switch... But I have no idea how to do that, or where to look for how to do it. Googling "ExchangeService" and "ExchangeServiceBinding" only seem to lead back to outdated blog posts and MSDN, neither of which has proven terribly helpful thus far. Help me, Obi-Wan, you're my only hope!

  • ASP.NET MVC & Silverlight development - on Ubuntu

    - by queen3
I recently moved my working environment from Windows 7 to Ubuntu, and enjoy this every minute of my working day. My work is currently to develop ASP.NET MVC and Silverlight applications. Thus, important Windows stuff is being still run in VirtualBox (such as IIS, MSSQL, Silverlight 3, and legacy COM stuff). For now, I use Visual Studio under VirtualBox as editor/IDE/debugger. But since I prefer Ubuntu fonts and UI much more I'd like to move at least editor (and better IDE) to native Ubuntu. Things I have already done: I store project files in my home folder and run Visual Studio from \vboxsvr share. With few tricks for ASP.NET it works. I use svn on Ubuntu. I test my ASP.NET MVC site using FireFox/FireBug on Ubuntu. What I need on Ubuntu: SQL client to manage MSSQL. I mostly need querying, but I would miss SQL intellisense support. I enjoy command-line svn a lot, but there're times when it's not enough (e.g. view files / check diffs / selectively commit at the sames time) so I wonder if there're any addons - I don't mean replacement for svn, just addons for rare cases like above. I wonder if there're editors that can provide some C# intellisense. Yes I know about MonoDevelop, but will it provide intellisense without compiling (since I'm going to compile remotely in Win box)? And pretty big topic, what's the best way (editor/IDE) to do "folder-based" development? What I mean: The project is /trunk. Everything is there. I don't want to manually add files to project or like that. The project is the folder and files down there. Main task is to edit files of course. I need a quick way to open / search for files in the project. Like in Resharper, I can click Ctrl-Shift-T (IIRC) and just type file name, a list of matching files in the project folder and below is shown. For example, gedit has file tree browser, but I can't quickly type XYZ to find all XYZ files there; moreover it doesn't automatically switch focus to/from editor; so it's more mouse-oriented; I need 100% keyboard way. I need syntax highlighting for C#/HTML/JS. Most importantly, I need HTML tags autocompletion. I can live without it, but I'll be sorry. I need to run compilation remotely (via ssh I think, invoking NAnt script which does MSBuild) and grab results such as errors and warnings, and I'd prefer to quickly go to error line/file. In short, I need to edit/search/open/svn/compile/run files in some folder. Looks like a case for command-line, but imaging I'm in /trunk and want to open file.cs inside /trunk/foo/bar/boo/far, I wouldn't want to type all this path even with bash autocompletion help. I'd prefer to enter :open file.cs, and maybe then select from list of file.cs and file1.cs. Well, maybe I'll add more soon. Actually, I don't have exact requirements; for example, I don't even know if I need to ask for IDE or editor; or should it have svn support integrated or I need to use it from console; do people work with files from console (search/commit/delete/etc) and open editor from there, or they work from editor/IDE and manage files (search/commit/delete) from there? What's better? I have a feeling that vim might have everything I need. I'd like to confirm that, before I spend a lot of time learning it. No I don't want Emacs. Any other IDE? I like Eclipse, but is it good for such stuff? And after all, do you feel like it's a good way to go? I enjoy Ubuntu, enjoy learning new stuff, and Ubuntu + Windows in VirtualBox actually runs faster than Windows7 on my mahcine, but maybe I need to keep development (editor/files management/etc) in Windows/VirtualBox only, leaving other stuff for Ubuntu?

  • activemq-maven-plugin ignore files in classpath?

    - by Oscar Chan
I have been trying to get activemq-maven-plugin to run activemq with configuration in classpath of the bundle. However, I don't have much luck. It seems that the activemq-maven-plugin just ignore resources (resources/main/conf/activemq.properties) the local bundle. I checked the jar and target/classes and they are built into the right local. I am able to get plugin to run (mvn activemq:run) if I take out the PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer bean in the activemq.xml Did I do anything wrong? • Faulting DLL (ISAPI Filter)...

    - by Brad
I wrote this ISAPI filter to rewrite the URL because we had some sites that moved locations... Basically the filter looks at the referrer, and if it's the local server, it looks at the requested URL and compared it to the full referrer. If the first path is identical, nothing is done, however if not, it takes the first path from the full referrer and prepends it to the URL. For example: /Content/imgs/img.jpg from a referrer of http://myserver/wr/apps/default.htm would be rewritten as /wr/Content/imgs/img.jpg. When I view the log file, everything looks good. However the DLL keeps faulting with the following information: Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.3959, faulting module URLRedirector.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0002df25. Here's the code: #include <windows.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <httpfilt.h> #include <time.h> #include <string.h> #ifdef _DEBUG #define TO_FILE // uncomment out to use a log file #ifdef TO_FILE #define DEST ghFile #define DebugMsg(x) WriteToFile x; HANDLE ghFile; #define LOGFILE "W:\\Temp\\URLRedirector.log" void WriteToFile (HANDLE hFile, char *szFormat, ...) { char szBuf[1024]; DWORD dwWritten; va_list list; va_start (list, szFormat); vsprintf (szBuf, szFormat, list); hFile = CreateFile (LOGFILE, GENERIC_WRITE, 0, NULL, OPEN_ALWAYS, FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL, NULL); if (hFile != INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) { SetFilePointer (hFile, 0, NULL, FILE_END); WriteFile (hFile, szBuf, lstrlen (szBuf), &dwWritten, NULL); CloseHandle (hFile); } va_end (list); } #endif #endif BOOL WINAPI __stdcall GetFilterVersion(HTTP_FILTER_VERSION *pVer) { /* Specify the types and order of notification */ pVer->dwFlags = (SF_NOTIFY_ORDER_HIGH | SF_NOTIFY_SECURE_PORT | SF_NOTIFY_NONSECURE_PORT | SF_NOTIFY_PREPROC_HEADERS | SF_NOTIFY_END_OF_NET_SESSION); pVer->dwFilterVersion = HTTP_FILTER_REVISION; strcpy(pVer->lpszFilterDesc, "URL Redirector, Version 1.0"); return TRUE; } DWORD WINAPI __stdcall HttpFilterProc(HTTP_FILTER_CONTEXT *pfc, DWORD NotificationType, VOID *pvData) { CHAR *pPhysPath; PHTTP_FILTER_URL_MAP pURLMap; PHTTP_FILTER_PREPROC_HEADERS pHeaderInfo; CHAR szReferrer[255], szServer[255], szURL[255], szNewURL[255]; DWORD dwRSize = sizeof(szReferrer); DWORD dwSSize = sizeof(szServer); DWORD dwUSize = sizeof(szURL); int iTmp, iTmp2; CHAR *pos, tmp[255], *tmp2; switch (NotificationType) { case SF_NOTIFY_PREPROC_HEADERS : pHeaderInfo = (PHTTP_FILTER_PREPROC_HEADERS)pvData; if (pfc->GetServerVariable(pfc, "HTTP_REFERER", szReferrer, &dwRSize)) { DebugMsg(( DEST, "Referrer: %s\r\n", szReferrer )); if (pfc->GetServerVariable(pfc, "SERVER_NAME", szServer, &dwSSize)) DebugMsg(( DEST, "Server Name: %s\r\n", szServer )); if (pHeaderInfo->GetHeader(pfc, "URL", szURL, &dwUSize)) DebugMsg(( DEST, "URL: %s\r\n", szURL )); iTmp = strnstr(szReferrer, szServer, strlen(szReferrer)); if(iTmp > 0) { //Referred is our own server... strcpy(tmp, szReferrer + iTmp); DebugMsg(( DEST, "tmp: %s - %d\r\n", tmp, strlen(tmp) )); pos = strchr(tmp+1, '/'); DebugMsg(( DEST, "pos: %s - %d\r\n", pos, strlen(pos) )); iTmp2 = strlen(tmp) - strlen(pos) + 1; strncpy(tmp2, tmp, iTmp2); tmp2[iTmp2] = '\0'; DebugMsg(( DEST, "tmp2: %s\r\n", tmp2)); if(strncmp(szURL, tmp2, iTmp2) != 0) { //First paths don't match, create new URL... strncpy(szNewURL, tmp2, iTmp2-1); strcat(szNewURL, szURL); DebugMsg(( DEST, "newURL: %s\r\n", szNewURL)); pHeaderInfo->SetHeader(pfc, "URL", szNewURL); return SF_STATUS_REQ_HANDLED_NOTIFICATION; } } } break; default : break; } return SF_STATUS_REQ_NEXT_NOTIFICATION; } /* simple function to compare two strings and return the position at which the compare ended */ static int strnstr ( const char *string, const char *strCharSet, int n) { int len = (strCharSet != NULL ) ? • How do I rotate only some views when working with a uinavigationcontroller as a tab of a uitabbarcon

    - by maxpower
Here is a flow that I can not figure out how to work. ( when I state (working) it means that in that current state the rules for orientation for that view are working correctly) First View: TableView on the stack of a UINavigationController that is a tab of UITabBarController. TableView is only allowed to be portrait. (working) When you rotate the TableView to landscape a modal comes up with a custom UIView that is like a coverflow (which i'll explain the problem there in a moment). A Selection made on tableview pushes a UIScrollview on to the stack. UIScrollView is allowed all orientations. (working) When UIScrollView is in landscape mode and the user hits back they are taken to the custom UIView that is like the coverflow and only allows landscape. The problem is here. Because the UIScrollView allows full rotation it permitted the TableView to rotate as well to landscape. I have a method attached to a notification "UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotification" that checks to see if the custom view is the current controller and if it is and if the user has rotated back to portrait I need to pop the custom view and show the table view. The table view has to rotate back to portrait, which really is okay as long as the user doesn't see it. When I create custom animations it works pretty good except for some odd invisible black box that seems to rotate with the device right before I fade out the customview to the tableview. Further inorder to ensure that my tableview will rotate to portrait I have to allow the customview to support all orientations because the system looks to the current view (in my code) as to whether or not that app is allowed to rotate to a certain orientation. Because of this I many proposed solutions will show the customview rotating to portrait as the table view comes back to focus. My other problem is very similar. If you are viewing the tableview and rotate the modalview of the customview is presented. When you make a selection on this view it pushes the UIScrollview onto the stack, but because the Tableview only supports portrait the UIScrollview comes in in portrait while the device is in landscape mode. How can I overcome these awful blocks? This is my current attempt: When it comes to working with UITabBarController the system really only cares what the tabbarcontroller has to say about rotation. Currently whenever a view loads it reports it supported orientations. TabBarController.m - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { switch (self.supportedOrientation) { case SupportPortraitOrientation: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait); break; case SupportPortraitUpsideDownOrientation: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown); break; case SupportPortraitAllOrientation: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait || interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown); break; case SupportLandscapeLeftOrientation: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft); break; case SupportLandscapeRightOrienation: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight); break; case SupportLandscapeAllOrientation: [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft || interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight); break; case SupportAllOrientation: if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft || interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight) { [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES animated:YES]; }else { //[[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:NO animated:YES]; } return YES; break; default: return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait); break; } } This block of code is part of my UINavigationController and is in a method that responds to the UIDeviceOrientationDidChangeNotification Notification. It is responsible for poping the customview and showing the tableview. There are two different versions in place that originally were for two different versions of the SDK but both are pretty close to solutions. The reason the first is not supported on 3.0 is for some reason you can't have a view showing and then showen as a modal view. Not sure if that is a bug or a feature. The second solution works pretty good except that I see an outer box rotating around the iphone. if ([[self topViewController] isKindOfClass:FlowViewController.class]) { NSString *iphoneVersion = [[UIDevice currentDevice] systemVersion]; double version = [iphoneVersion doubleValue]; if(version > 3.0){ //1st solution //if the delivered app is not built with the 3.1 SDK I don't think this will happen anyway //we need to test this [self presentModalViewController:self.flowViewController animated:NO]; //[self toInterfaceOrientation:UIDeviceOrientationPortrait animated:NO]; [self popViewControllerAnimated:NO]; [self setNavigationBarHidden:NO animated:NO]; [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; }else{ //2nd solution DLog(@"3.0!!"); //[self toInterfaceOrientation:UIDeviceOrientationPortrait animated:NO]; CATransition *transition = [CATransition animation]; transition.duration = 0.50; transition.timingFunction = [CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseInEaseOut]; transition.type = kCATransitionPush; transition.subtype = kCATransitionFade; CATransition *tabBarControllerLayer = [CATransition animation]; tabBarControllerLayer.duration = 0.50; tabBarControllerLayer.timingFunction = [CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseInEaseOut]; tabBarControllerLayer.type = kCATransitionPush; tabBarControllerLayer.subtype = kCATransitionFade; [self.tabBarController.view.layer addAnimation:transition forKey:kCATransition]; [self.view.layer addAnimation:transition forKey:kCATransition]; [self popViewControllerAnimated:NO]; [self setNavigationBarHidden:NO animated:NO]; } [self performSelector:@selector(resetFlow) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.75]; } I'm near convinced there is no solution except for manual rotation which messes up the keyboard rotation. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks.

  • LNK2005: delete already defined error in VC++

    - by user333422
Hi, I am newbie to VC++, so please forgive me if this is stupid. I have got 7 solutions under one project. Six of these build static libraries which is linked inside 7th to produce an exe. The runtime configuration of all the projects is MultiThreaded Debug. sln which is used to produce exe is using MFC other slns use standard runtiem library. I tried changing those to MFC, but still I am getting the same error. All the six slns build successfully. When I try to build exe - get the follwoing error: nafxcwd.lib(afxmem.obj) : error LNK2005: "void __cdecl operator delete(void *,int, char const *,int)" (??3@YAXPAXHPBDH@Z) already defined in tara_common.lib(fileStream.obj) This is weird because tara_common is one of the libs that I generated and fileStream.cpp is file that is just using delete on a pointer. I built it in verbose mod, so I am attaching the output. • What does a Software Developer actually do?

    - by chobo2
Hi I am graduating from my Computer Science degree in a few weeks from now!! I started to look for my first job. For the last couple years I gotten really into web programming(Asp.net). My first choice would be to get a junior asp.net MVC developer but I don't any companies in my area use MVC yet or if they do they are not hiring. So my second choice would be a junior asp.net Webforms developer. My other choices after that would be forms applications, mobile applications using .Net and C#. As you can see I am looking for something with .Net. I spent the last couple years doing .Net projects for school, on my free time and love the Language and it would pain me right now to switch to something like php. So now I found a posting in my area for an Entry Software Developer. I like the fact that they are using .net and that it is entry job(I never worked in this industry and never had more then like a tutoring job so I want to for like intermediate jobs). Posting Are you looking for an exciting challenge within a dynamic, people-oriented culture where you can launch your technical career? Company Name Inc. is a technology consulting company, located in Canada, that designs, develops, and delivers real-time interactive applications accessed via the Internet as well as back-end tools to support these applications. Company Name provides a combination of out-of-the-box and customized solutions to an expanding list of partners and customers. POSITION SUMMARY As a member of our team, the successful candidate will be responsible for helping us increase the quality and stability of our software systems by working jointly and directly with both the Software Development teams and the QA Team. The primary mission of this role will be to substantially enhance our test automation suite. The incumbent will design and program automated tests (unit, integration, system, stress and load) in Visual Studio using C# and will develop sound processes that help us identify and resolve defects as early as possible. The successful incumbent will help us improve and enhance system functionality, reliability, performance and scalability. This role is specifically designed for an eager, bright, new graduate who is looking for a stepping stone into a software engineering role. We promote from within and invite new graduates to apply for this important position - which may lead to new opportunities. We also offer a generous professional development plan to help you on your way. You will be a key part of a team of experts that is responsible for improving the quality of our software by: • Designing, writing, and executing test plans and programmatic tests in Visual Studio using C# and NUnit for functional testing of our code, new features, regression, and performance test procedures. • Working with the engineers to design and build the stress and load testing framework which emulates tens and even hundreds of thousands of concurrent users via a distributed network interfacing with our Load Testing Lab. • Interfacing with both the Development Team and the QA Team to ensure risks are identified and managed. • Mentoring and leading the QA Team in programmatic test automation technologies and tools. MUST HAVE SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS: • Diploma or higher Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent formal training. • Fundamental C# programming skills. • Knowledge of Internet technologies and Microsoft Windows platforms. • Knowledge of PC hardware. • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written). • Self-starter who takes initiative, requires minimal supervision, can handle multiple simultaneous tasks. • Detail-oriented, able to concentrate, and work quickly. • Proven diagnostic, analytical, and problem solving skills. NICE TO HAVE SKILLS: • Exposure to Visual Studio Team System or Visual Studio Test Edition. • Exposure in C# using NUnit. • Exposure to NUnit, HTTPUnit, and other automation tool suites. • Exposure to Performance/Stress/Load Testing. • Good understanding of relational databases (MS SQL Server). • Familiar with video and online multi-player games. As part of our team you will have the opportunity to work with a supportive team of experts, drive your own success, and ride the wave as we continually expand our team of experts. If you are interested in this opportunity, please send your resume to [email protected] with “Entry Level Software Developer” in the subject line. So that is the posting. To me it sounds like it is QA job. I don't have anything against QA jobs but alot of them seems to be your just clicking buttons and running scripts. Is this what a typical software developer does? Like I am so on the fence to apply for this job. On one side I am not sure how much programming I would be doing. Like I want to be at least half the time programming otherwise my skills will never improve since I will never be programming in teams and stuff. At the same time I have no experience in the industry so on the other side I am thinking just go for it and then maybe a year later try to get a full programming job(provided that I got the job). Yet if I am not programming in that job then that experience will not help me for the next job I find as I will be back a square one.

  • Generating moderately interesting images

    - by Williham Totland
Abstract: Can you propose a mathematical-ish algorithm over a plane of pixels that will generate a moderately interesting image, preferably one that on the whole resembles something? The story thus far: Once upon a time I decided in an effort to reduce cycle waste on my (admittedly too) numerous computers, and set out to generate images in a moderately interesting fashion; using a PRNG and some clever math to create images that would, on the whole, resemble something. Or at least, that was the plan. As it turns out, clever math requires being a clever mathematician; this I am not. At some length I arrived at a method that preferred straight lines (as these are generally the components of which our world is made), perhaps too strongly. The result is mildly interesting; resembling, perhaps, city grids as such: Now for the question proper: Given the source code of this little program; can you improve upon it and propose a method that gives somewhat more interesting results? (e.g. not city grids, but perhaps faces, animals, geography, what have you) This is also meant as a sort of challenge; I suppose and as such I've set down some completely arbitrary and equally optional rules: The comments in the code says it all really. Suggestions and "solutions" should edit the algorithm itself, not the surrounding framework, except as for to fix errors that prevents the sample from compiling. The code should compile cleanly with a standard issue C compiler. (If the example provided doesn't, oops! Tell me, and I'll fix. :) The method should, though again, this is optional, not need to elicit help from your friendly neighborhood math library. Solutions should probably be deliverable by simply yanking out whatever is between the snip lines (the ones that say you should not edit above and below, respectively), with a statement to the effect of what you need to add to the preamble in particular. The code requires a C compiler and libpng to build; I'm not entirely confident that the MinGW compiler provides the necessities, but I would be surprised if it didn't. For Debian you'll want the libpng-dev package, and for Mac OS X you'll want the XCode tools.. The source code can be downloaded here. Warning: Massive code splurge incoming! // compile with gcc -o imggen -lpng imggen.c // optionally with -DITERATIONS=x, where x is an appropriate integer // If you're on a Mac or using MinGW, you may have to fiddle with the linker flags to find the library and includes. #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <png.h> #ifdef ITERATIONS #define REPEAT #endif // ITERATIONS // YOU MAY CHANGE THE FOLLOWING DEFINES #define WIDTH 320 #define HEIGHT 240 // YOU MAY REPLACE THE FOLLOWING DEFINES AS APPROPRIATE #define INK 16384 void writePNG (png_bytepp imageBuffer, png_uint_32 width, png_uint_32 height, int iteration) { char *fname; asprintf(&fname, "out.%d.png", iteration); FILE *fp = fopen(fname, "wb"); if (!fp) return; png_structp png_ptr = png_create_write_struct(PNG_LIBPNG_VER_STRING, NULL, NULL, NULL); png_infop info_ptr = png_create_info_struct(png_ptr); png_init_io(png_ptr, fp); png_set_filter(png_ptr, PNG_FILTER_TYPE_DEFAULT, PNG_FILTER_NONE); png_set_compression_level(png_ptr, Z_BEST_COMPRESSION); png_set_IHDR(png_ptr, info_ptr, width, height, 8, PNG_COLOR_TYPE_GRAY, PNG_INTERLACE_NONE, PNG_COMPRESSION_TYPE_DEFAULT, PNG_FILTER_TYPE_DEFAULT); png_set_rows(png_ptr, info_ptr, imageBuffer); png_set_invert_mono(png_ptr); /// YOU MAY COMMENT OUT THIS LINE png_write_png(png_ptr, info_ptr, PNG_TRANSFORM_IDENTITY, NULL); png_destroy_write_struct(&png_ptr, &info_ptr); fclose(fp); free(fname); } int main (int argc, const char * argv[]) { png_uint_32 height = HEIGHT, width = WIDTH; int iteration = 1; #ifdef REPEAT for (iteration = 1; iteration <= ITERATIONS; iteration++) { #endif // REPEAT png_bytepp imageBuffer = malloc(sizeof(png_bytep) * height); for (png_uint_32 i = 0; i < height; i++) { imageBuffer[i] = malloc(sizeof(png_byte) * width); for (png_uint_32 j = 0; j < width; j++) { imageBuffer[i][j] = 0; } } /// CUT ACROSS THE DASHED LINES /// ------------------------------------------- /// NO EDITING ABOVE THIS LINE; EXCEPT AS NOTED int ink = INK; int x = rand() % width, y = rand() % height; int xdir = (rand() % 2)?1:-1; int ydir = (rand() % 2)?1:-1; while (ink) { imageBuffer[y][x] = 255; --ink; xdir += (rand() % 2)?(1):(-1); ydir += (rand() % 2)?(1):(-1); if (ydir > 0) { ++y; } else if (ydir < 0) { --y; } if (xdir > 0) { ++x; } else if (xdir < 0) { --x; } if (x == -1 || y == -1 || x == width || y == height || x == y && x == 0) { x = rand() % width; y = rand() % height; xdir = (rand() % 2)?1:-1; ydir = (rand() % 2)?1:-1; } } /// NO EDITING BELOW THIS LINE /// ------------------------------------------- writePNG(imageBuffer, width, height, iteration); for (png_uint_32 i = 0; i < height; i++) { free(imageBuffer[i]); } free(imageBuffer); #ifdef REPEAT } #endif // REPEAT return 0; } Note: While this question doesn't strictly speaking seem "answerable" as such; I still believe that it can give rise to some manner of "right" answer. Maybe. Happy hunting.

  • Should this immutable struct be a mutable class?

    - by ChaosPandion
I showed this struct to a fellow programmer and they felt that it should be a mutable class. They felt it is inconvenient not to have null references and the ability to alter the object as required. I would really like to know if there are any other reasons to make this a mutable class. • UITableView: Juxtaposing row, header, and footer insertions/deletions

    - by jdandrea
Consider a very simple UITableView with one of two states. First state: One (overall) table footer One section containing two rows, a section header, and a section footer Second state: No table footer One section containing four rows and no section header/footer In both cases, each row is essentially one of four possible UITableViewCell objects, each containing its own UITextField. We don't even bother with reuse or caching, since we're only dealing with four known cells in this case. They've been created in an accompanying XIB, so we already have them all wired up and ready to go. Now consider we want to toggle between the two states. Sounds easy enough. Let's suppose our view controller's right bar button item provides the toggling support. We'll also track the current state with an ivar and enumeration. To be explicit for a sec, here's how one might go from state 1 to 2. (Presume we handle the bar button item's title as well.) In short, we want to clear out our table's footer view, then insert the third and fourth rows. We batch this inside an update block like so: // Brute forced references to the third and fourth rows in section 0 NSUInteger row02[] = {0, 2}; NSUInteger row03[] = {0, 3}; [self.tableView beginUpdates]; state = tableStateTwo; // 'internal' iVar, not a property self.tableView.tableFooterView = nil; [self.tableView insertRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObjects: [NSIndexPath indexPathWithIndexes:row02 length:2], [NSIndexPath indexPathWithIndexes:row03 length:2], nil] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; [self.tableView endUpdates]; For the reverse, we want to reassign the table footer view (which, like the cells, is in the XIB ready and waiting), and remove the last two rows: // Use row02 and row03 from earlier snippet [self.tableView beginUpdates]; state = tableStateOne; self.tableView.tableFooterView = theTableFooterView; [self.tableView deleteRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObjects: [NSIndexPath indexPathWithIndexes:row02 length:2], [NSIndexPath indexPathWithIndexes:row03 length:2], nil] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; [self.tableView endUpdates]; Now, when the table asks for rows, it's very cut and dry. The first two cells are the same in both cases. Only the last two appear/disappear depending on the state. The state ivar is consulted when the Table View asks for things like number of rows in a section, height for header/footer in a section, or view for header/footer in a section. This last bit is also where I'm running into trouble. Using the above logic, section 0's header/footer does not disappear. Specifically, the footer stays below the inserted rows, but the header now overlays the topmost row. If we switch back to state one, the section footer is removed, but the section header remains. How about using [self.tableView reloadData] then? Sure, why not. We take care not to use it inside the update block, per Apple's advisement, and simply add it after endUpdates. This time, good news! The section 0 header/footer disappears. :) However ... Toggling back to state one results in a most exquisite mess! The section 0 header returns, only to overlay the first row once again (instead of appear above it). The section 0 footer is placed below the last row just fine, but the overall table footer - now reinstated - overlays the section footer. Waaaaaah … now what? Just to be sure, let's toggle back to state two again. Yep, that looks fine. Coming back to state one? Yecccch. I also tried sprinkling in a few other stunts like using reloadSections:withRowAnimation:, but that only serves to make things worse. NSRange range = {0, 1}; NSIndexSet *indexSet = [NSIndexSet indexSetWithIndexesInRange:range]; ... [self.tableView reloadSections:indexSet withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; Case in point: If we invoke reloadSections... just before the end of the update block, changing to state two hides the first two rows from view, even though the space they would otherwise occupy remains. Switching back to state one returns section 0's header/footer to normal, but those first two rows remain invisible. Case two: Moving reloadSections... to just after the update block but before reloadData results in all rows becoming invisible! (I refer to the row as being invisible because, during tracing, tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: is returning bona-fide cell objects for those rows.) Case three: Moving reloadSections... after tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath: brings us a bit closer, but the section 0 header/footer never returns when switching back to state one. Hmm. Perhaps it's a faux pas using both reloadSections... and reloadData, based on what I'm seeing at trace-time, which brings us to: Case four: Replacing reloadData with reloadSections... outright. All cells in state two disappear. All cells in state one remain missing as well (though the space is kept). So much for that theory. :) Tracing through the code, the cell and view objects, as well as the section heights, are all where they should be at the opportune times. They just aren't rendering sanely. So, how to crack this case? Clues welcome/appreciated!

  • Problem with room/screen/menu controller in python game: old rooms are not removed from memory

    - by Jordan Magnuson
I'm literally banging my head against a wall here (as in, yes, physically, at my current location, I am damaging my cranium). Basically, I've got a Python/Pygame game with some typical game "rooms", or "screens." EG title screen, high scores screen, and the actual game room. Something bad is happening when I switch between rooms: the old room (and its various items) are not removed from memory, or from my event listener. Not only that, but every time I go back to a certain room, my number of event listeners increases, as well as the RAM being consumed! (So if I go back and forth between the title screen and the "game room", for instance, the number of event listeners and the memory usage just keep going up and up. The main issue is that all the event listeners start to add up and really drain the CPU. I'm new to Python, and don't know if I'm doing something obviously wrong here, or what. I will love you so much if you can help me with this! Below is the relevant source code. • problem solving [closed]

    - by Suresh S
Problem Statement The Sports Associations in India (SAI) wants to choose 2 teams of 4 people each to send to Asian games. There are 13 people who want to be members of the teams. The SAI tries grouping them in various ways to see which athletes perform well together. Each grouping gets one test run on the test track and their time is recorded. Your task is to help the SAI choose two disjoint teams of 4 such that the sum of their practice times is minimal. Input There will be several input instances. The first line of each instance gives the total number of practice runs. This will be followed by n lines. Each of those lines will contain 5 numbers: p1 p2 p3 p4 t t is the time taken (in milliseconds) by the team consisting of p1, p2, p3 and p4. The time taken will not be more than 2 minutes. The end of the input will be indicated by a line with n=0. Output Output the best total and the two teams that you choose. If it is impossible to choose two disjoint teams from the test runs given, output -1. • EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL) at random during use of app. Bug in AppKit?

    - by Ger Teunis
I'm currently testing a new version of an app of mine on OSX 10.5 An user reported some weird crashes during use of the application, sadly not reproducible by me. At first sight it seems to happen randomly, once he had the crash while opening an NSOpenPanel and once during focusing an NSTextField and once during NSView switch in a parent view. If you have any idea which area I should look at it would be greatly appreciated! I'm completely lost here. • Cannot call SAPI from dll

    - by Quandary
    Question: The below code works fine as long as it is in an executable. It uses the msft (text-to-)speech API (SAPI). But as soon as I put it in a dll and load it with loadlibrary from an executable, it doesn't work. I've also tried to change CoInitialize(NULL); to CoInitializeEx(NULL,COINIT_MULTITHREADED); and I tried with all possible flags ( COINIT_APARTMENTTHREADED, COINIT_MULTITHREADED, COINIT_DISABLE_OLE1DDE, COINIT_SPEED_OVER_MEMORY) But it's always stuck at hr = CoCreateInstance(__uuidof(SpVoice), NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); I also tried those flags here: CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER,CLSCTX_SERVER, CLSCTX_ALL, but nothing seems to help... There are no errors, it doesn't crash, it just sleeps forever at CoCreateInstance... This is the code as single exe (working) #include <windows.h> #include <sapi.h> #include <iostream> #include <cstdlib> int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { ISpVoice * pVoice = NULL; //CoInitializeEx(NULL,COINIT_MULTITHREADED); HRESULT hr = CoInitialize(NULL); if( FAILED(hr) ) { MessageBox(NULL, TEXT("Failed To Initialize"), TEXT("Error"),0); printf("Failed!\n"); char buffer[2000] ; sprintf(buffer, "An error occured: 0x%08X.\n", hr); FILE * pFile = fopen ( "c:\\temp\\CoInitialize_exe.txt" , "w" ); fwrite (buffer , 1 , sizeof(buffer) , pFile ); fclose (pFile); } else { //CoGetClassObject(CLSID_SpVoice, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, NULL, IID_IClassFactory, (void**) &pClsF); //hr = CoGetClassObject(CLSID_SpVoice, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, NULL, IID_IClassFactory, (void**) &pClsF); hr = CoCreateInstance(__uuidof(SpVoice), NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); //HRESULT hr = CoCreateInstance(CLSID_SpVoice, NULL, CLSCTX_ALL, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); if( SUCCEEDED( hr ) ) { hr = pVoice->Speak(L"Test Test", 0, NULL); hr = pVoice->Speak(L"This sounds normal <pitch middle = '-10'/> but the pitch drops half way through", SPF_IS_XML, NULL ); pVoice->Release(); pVoice = NULL; } else { MessageBox(NULL, TEXT("Failed To Create a COM instance..."), TEXT("Error"),0); char buffer[2000] ; sprintf(buffer, "An error occured: 0x%08X.\n", hr); FILE * pFile = fopen ( "c:\\temp\\CoCreateInstance_exe.txt" , "w" ); fwrite (buffer , 1 , sizeof(buffer) , pFile ); fclose (pFile); } } CoUninitialize(); return EXIT_SUCCESS; } This is the exe loading the dll (stays forever at printf("trying to create instance.\n"); ) #include <windows.h> #include <sapi.h> #include <iostream> #include <cstdlib> int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { // C:\Windows\System32\Speech\Common\sapi.dll //LoadLibraryA("sapi.dll"); LoadLibraryA("Sapidll2.dll"); return EXIT_SUCCESS; // Frankly, that would be nice... } And this is Sapidll2.dll // dllmain.cpp : Defines the entry point for the DLL application. #include "stdafx.h" #include <iostream> #include <cstdlib> #include <string> #include <windows.h> #include <sapi.h> int init_engine() { ISpVoice * pVoice = NULL; //HRESULT hr = CoInitializeEx(NULL, COINIT_MULTITHREADED); HRESULT hr = CoInitialize(NULL); if(FAILED(hr) ) { MessageBox(NULL, TEXT("Failed To Initialize"), TEXT("Error"), 0); char buffer[2000] ; sprintf(buffer, "An error occured: 0x%08X.\n", hr); FILE * pFile = fopen ( "c:\\temp\\CoInitialize_dll.txt" , "w" ); fwrite (buffer , 1 , strlen(buffer) , pFile ); fclose (pFile); } else { printf("trying to create instance.\n"); //HRESULT hr = CoCreateInstance(CLSID_SpVoice, NULL, CLSCTX_ALL, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); //hr = CoCreateInstance(CLSID_SpVoice, NULL, CLSCTX_ALL, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); //HRESULT hr = CoCreateInstance(__uuidof(ISpVoice), NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); HRESULT hr = CoCreateInstance(__uuidof(SpVoice), NULL, CLSCTX_ALL, IID_ISpVoice, (void **) &pVoice); if( SUCCEEDED( hr ) ) { printf("Succeeded\n"); //hr = pVoice->Speak(L"The text to speech engine has been successfully initialized.", 0, NULL); } else { printf("failed\n"); MessageBox(NULL, TEXT("Failed To Create COM instance"), TEXT("Error"), 0); char buffer[2000] ; sprintf(buffer, "An error occured: 0x%08X.\n", hr); FILE * pFile = fopen ( "c:\\temp\\CoCreateInstance_dll.txt" , "w" ); fwrite (buffer , 1 , strlen(buffer) , pFile ); fclose (pFile); } } if(pVoice != NULL) { pVoice->Release(); pVoice = NULL; } CoUninitialize(); return true ; } BOOL APIENTRY DllMain( HMODULE hModule, DWORD ul_reason_for_call, LPVOID lpReserved) { switch (ul_reason_for_call) { case DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH: init_engine(); break; case DLL_THREAD_ATTACH: case DLL_THREAD_DETACH: case DLL_PROCESS_DETACH: break; } return TRUE; }

  • Accessing a Service from within an XNA Content Pipeline Extension

    - by David Wallace
I need to allow my content pipeline extension to use a pattern similar to a factory. I start with a dictionary type: public delegate T Mapper<T>(MapFactory<T> mf, XElement d); public class MapFactory<T> { Dictionary<string, Mapper<T>> map = new Dictionary<string, Mapper<T>>(); public void Add(string s, Mapper<T> m) { map.Add(s, m); } public T Get(XElement xe) { if (xe == null) throw new ArgumentNullException( "Invalid document"); var key = xe.Name.ToString(); if (!map.ContainsKey(key)) throw new ArgumentException( key + " is not a valid key."); return map[key](this, xe); } public IEnumerable<T> GetAll(XElement xe) { if (xe == null) throw new ArgumentNullException( "Invalid document"); foreach (var e in xe.Elements()) { var val = e.Name.ToString(); if (map.ContainsKey(val)) yield return map[val](this, e); } } } Here is one type of object I want to store: public partial class TestContent { // Test type public string title; // Once test if true public bool once; // Parameters public Dictionary<string, object> args; public TestContent() { title = string.Empty; args = new Dictionary<string, object>(); } public TestContent(XElement xe) { title = xe.Name.ToString(); args = new Dictionary<string, object>(); xe.ParseAttribute("once", once); } } XElement.ParseAttribute is an extension method that works as one might expect. It returns a boolean that is true if successful. The issue is that I have many different types of tests, each of which populates the object in a way unique to the specific test. The element name is the key to MapFactory's dictionary. This type of test, while atypical, illustrates my problem. public class LogicTest : TestBase { string opkey; List<TestBase> items; public override bool Test(BehaviorArgs args) { if (items == null) return false; if (items.Count == 0) return false; bool result = items[0].Test(args); for (int i = 1; i < items.Count; i++) { bool other = items[i].Test(args); switch (opkey) { case "And": result &= other; if (!result) return false; break; case "Or": result |= other; if (result) return true; break; case "Xor": result ^= other; break; case "Nand": result = !(result & other); break; case "Nor": result = !(result | other); break; default: result = false; break; } } return result; } public static TestContent Build(MapFactory<TestContent> mf, XElement xe) { var result = new TestContent(xe); string key = "Or"; xe.GetAttribute("op", key); result.args.Add("key", key); var names = mf.GetAll(xe).ToList(); if (names.Count() < 2) throw new ArgumentException( "LogicTest requires at least two entries."); result.args.Add("items", names); return result; } } My actual code is more involved as the factory has two dictionaries, one that turns an XElement into a content type to write and another used by the reader to create the actual game objects. I need to build these factories in code because they map strings to delegates. I have a service that contains several of these factories. The mission is to make these factory classes available to a content processor. Neither the processor itself nor the context it uses as a parameter have any known hooks to attach an IServiceProvider or equivalent. Any ideas?

  • Why Does .Hide()ing and .Show()ing Panels in wxPython Result in the Sizer Changing the Layout?

    - by MetaHyperBolic
As referenced in my previous question, I am trying to make something slightly wizard-like in function. I have settled on a single frame with a sizer added to it. I build panels for each of the screens I would like users to see, add them to the frame's sizer, then switch between panels by .Hide()ing one panel, then calling a custom .ShowYourself() on the next panel. Obviously, I would like the buttons to remain in the same place as the user progresses through the process. I have linked together two panels in an infinite loop by their "Back" and "Next" buttons so you can see what is going on. The first panel looks great; tom10's code worked on that level, as it eschewed my initial, over-fancy attempt with borders flying every which way. And then the second panel seems to have shrunk down to the bare minimum. As we return to the first panel, the shrinkage has occurred here as well. Why does it look fine on the first panel, but not after I return there? Why is calling .Fit() necessary if I do not want a 10 pixel by 10 pixel wad of grey? And if it is necessary, why does .Fit() give inconsistent results? This infinite loop seems to characterize my experience with this: I fix the layout on a panel, only to find that switching ruins the layout for other panels. I fix that problem, by using sizer_h.Add(self.panel1, 0) instead of sizer_h.Add(self.panel1, 1, wx.EXPAND), and now my layouts are off again. So far, my "solution" is to add a mastersizer.SetMinSize((475, 592)) to each panel's master sizer (commented out in the code below). This is a cruddy solution because 1) I have had to find the numbers that work by trial and error (-5 pixels for the width, -28 pixels for the height). 2) I don't understand why the underlying issue still happens. What's the correct, non-ugly solution? Instead of adding all of the panels to the frame's sizer at once, should switching panels involve .Detach()ing that panel from the frame's sizer and then .Add()ing the next panel to the frame's sizer? Is there a .JustMakeThisFillThePanel() method hiding somewhere I have missed in both the wxWidgets and the wxPython documents online? I'm obviously missing something in my mental model of layout. Here's a TinyURL link, if I can't manage to embed the . Minimalist code pasted below. import wx import sys class My_App(wx.App): def OnInit(self): self.frame = My_Frame(None) self.frame.Show() self.SetTopWindow(self.frame) return True def OnExit(self): print 'Dying ...' class My_Frame(wx.Frame): def __init__(self, image, parent=None,id=-1, title='Generic Title', pos=wx.DefaultPosition, style=wx.CAPTION | wx.STAY_ON_TOP): size = (480, 620) wx.Frame.__init__(self, parent, id, 'Program Title', pos, size, style) sizer_h = wx.BoxSizer(wx.HORIZONTAL) self.panel0 = User_Interaction0(self) sizer_h.Add(self.panel0, 1, wx.EXPAND) self.panel1 = User_Interaction1(self) sizer_h.Add(self.panel1, 1, wx.EXPAND) self.SetSizer(sizer_h) self.panel0.ShowYourself() def ShutDown(self): self.Destroy() class User_Interaction0(wx.Panel): def __init__(self, parent, id=-1): wx.Panel.__init__(self, parent, id) #
